Hey, I'm waxing poetic today!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3321460/Crimson_Desert/ got its Friday update and it broke a little. You can go to our usual place to download the new early access release of R.E.A.L. (v2609.18.2) which will allow you to keep playing this never-ending experience in VR.

But more importantly, as you probably know, https://store.steampowered.com/app/3768760/007_First_Light/ just released a major update that adds full Path Tracing support to the game. In case you're suffering from a surplus of fps, and you need to find a way to throw away some of that performance, you can install the official patch and the latest version of my framework, to enjoy DL(S)SS-RR in all its visual glory. And to really kill your frame rate, on top of that you can even add photorealistic wrinkles!!

Just joking of course. The graphical improvements are huge and nothing to laugh at. Yeah, it would be wonderful if NVIDIA added support for Frame Generation to VR, so we could have the eye candy without grinding into slideshow territory. But while we wait for that (spoiler: never gonna happen) we do have AER v2 to somehow interpolate our way into smooth rendering.

The latest R.E.A.L. VR release also fixes ReShade chainloading (needed for add-on support, see the bottom half of this post for details) for https://store.steampowered.com/app/2842040/Star_Wars_Outlaws/ so that you can have DLSS 5 in space!

realchulo

hi regarding CD, before i hit that dangerous update button: is it already fixed for todays (2.03.00) or last fridays (2.02.00) update ? oh and as always tyvm for these great vr experiences :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yup, early access release version should fix the latest CD update :) It is in the post :)

bpatchesnet

Are you working on a new game?

Disco Dan

Awesome work guys!

833LZZ

Had a question. I haven't got the latest REAL. Since you added reshade addon support, would Shader Toggler work? With any game as long as I'm replacing the dxgi with the latest one? Some game HUDs are really distracting in VR and if shader toggler works I'll sub again

Brandon(Post Maester)

Haven't gotten around to actually trying it yet. I installed it and it seemed to load but never actually tried using it. Give it a shot :)

833LZZ

does it work with old LR profiles also? or just SW Outlaws? That's the only game I saw mentioned here. Can you confirm that please? Not interested in DLSS 5

realvr

Yes, chainloading the new version of ReShade is supported with all games (with new R.E.A.L. versions of course), and Shader Toggler should work fine. Actually, if you find any games from the list where it doesn't work I'd be interested to know so I can try to fix it

833LZZ

Thanks for the reply! I'll be testing it on some of the games and let you know if it doesn't work. Cheers!

realvr

Just a heads-up: it's OK to update CD to patch 2.03.01, it didn't break anything in VR!

Justin

Wow, I saw something in patch notes about it fixing lantern tracking, so figured for sure it would break it! Does anyone know how to force Steam to not update? Really stupid there is not a setting I can change to stop updates.

Brandon(Post Maester)

You could try offline and only update when running in the settings. I find the most reliable thing is just to copy the game folder before updating to another location. Let Steam update it, then drag the contents of the old copy into the updated game folder. That restores the copies version and Steam won't bug you until the next update.

833LZZ

Hey. I tried 3-4 games that I had already installed. Yeah, shader toggler seems to be working so far. I will test a couple more games on the weekend, thanks :)

833LZZ

With the latest version, there's this Oculus Debug Tool CLI.exe keeps popping up. Unless I close it it stops the game from going to VR. Also when I close it, it pops up again. I have to close it again. It wasn't like this before, also I think it tanks my framerate. Makes everything laggy on my PC while it's open. Using Quest 3, Virtual Dekstop, runtime set to VDXR. Even if I select OpenXR on Reshade overlay, this Oculus Debug Tool CLI.exe still keeps opening itself. I was already subbed in earlier versions, tried that, and there's no popup. So it must be one of the latest versions. What am I doing wrong?

833LZZ

Also, would you consider porting this vertical camera pitch to some of the earlier games. Like Crimson Desert and 007 and some of the games getting so much maintenance and updates from you each month, would be awesome if you look at some of the earlier games too. It's really uncomfortable to play especially 3rd person stealth action games without a vertical camera pitch. Nearly every other VR mods have it. But not yours. It's the most basic VR accessibility feature. My favorite games to play with your VR mod are Ghost of Tsushima, Last Of Us Part 1, SW Outlaws, Horizon 1&2, Uncharted, Watch Dogs 2. Please consider making camera pitch available to these games, since these are 3rd person perspective and we're playing seated. Thanks. (ps this feature finally made Spider-Man playable after all this time. I was asking this a year ago also but went unnoticed)

Brandon(Post Maester)

I am not sure why it seems to pop up for some people so much. I have had it happen but never a constant and only a few times out of many. It has happened to people rarely going back years I think. Have you tried rebooting your system or closing Oculus services in task manager at all? The few times I had it happen I just closed the popup and things seemed to work fine.

833LZZ

My Oculus VR Library and Runtime services were already set to "manual" - they didn't auto start. But this wasn't stopping Debug CLI auto starting. Then I uninstalled Meta Horizon Link Desktop App using Revo uninstaller, deleted every registry. Still same issue. Then I switched to Steam VR runtime just to to try it. Still.. this OculusDebugTool CLI.exe starts itself and tanks my framerate and lags my PC. I close it it opens itself again. Makes this update literally unusuable for me. None of the earlier LR versions I have archived are behaving this way. -Unable to connect to service: NotFound: Server endpoint not found ERROR: Unable to start debug session, retrying... ERROR: Unable to start debug session, retrying...

Miguel Plylar-Moore

Ok who’s doing Control Resonant, Luke is it you? Or does NoMoreFlat take the reins after his decent job with Control. Or do you both do it and try and get it out out in the next 8 hours so I can play after work.

Stephen Gallagher

This is worth a look for those with high resolution headsets like a Pimax running through steam. The developer dropped this version today and it works exceptionally well with UEVR stereo, but it's also showing benefits on LRFramework games. I wasn't impressed with the other versions of OFXR but this one is doing some black magic for my Pimax Dream Air running Sboys3 through OpenXR via SteamVR. https://github.com/djules75/OFXR-Bridge/releases/tag/0.2.4 A little input lag, some artifacts, but you can push the game resolution much higher. It doesn't interface with Cheeky yet (maybe the reshade addon will?)Give it a try and let me know what you think. UPDATE: New versions of Cheeky and OFXR work together now according to the developer.

Tomo

Thanks for sharing - i am back on the steam train so will test it out - so this is really for pushing the resolution higher yeah?

Stephen Gallagher

Yeah, try a challenging UEVR game like Stalker 2 or Oblivion with it on native stereo. It really shines. Crimson Desert is interesting as well. Use Nvidia Reflux to help with the input lag. CD pushes an extra 25-30 fps with this turned on with the same quality imo, but I'm curious on what other people think.

mkyl nthny

so I just picked up 007 First Light and I was wondering if it is expected for hud to be out of view (unless force hud to flat toggled of course) and for examining items to not "work" unless flipping entirely to flat? or is there something messed up in my setup?

Adam Munoz

Question, Brandon or anyone who might know. So I was fortunate to get a Steam Frame, (just came in today), and I’m putting it through it’s paces. Everything is going great! Except on Luke’s mods my controller is not responding. I’ve tried plugging it in and out, disabled the Steam input. Nothing. The keyboard works, (don’t want to play like that though.) Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated, happy VR gaming all!

Brandon(Post Maester)

I don't know. That is always the risk of new hardware and software :) I would think you probably need Steam Input enabled for the controller. You could drop a link to a log file while the controller is plugged in just in case it gives any messages there.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I honestly haven't played that one much. If there are no HUD sliders in the 007 tab of the REAL overlay, try the normal or aiming HUD sliders in the main tab.

Stephen Gallagher

There're some special instructions in the BOND post about the "left thumbstick + left trigger" gesture regarding HUD. Not sure if that applies.

Adam Munoz

Sure, thanks for offering! Now over the years I’ve heard you reference the log file. Is that a tab under the overlay where I would find that? And would a printscreen grab that info? Through all of the troubleshooting you’ve helped me through I’ve never actually done this part. Thanks in advance!

realchulo

hi wondering if somebody has the same issue (or even better, a solution): in CD the HUD (minimap etc.) vanishes when looking in certain directions. for example it is always there when looking down, when looking up or in specific angles it vanishes. tried updating everyting but no luck. using pimax dream air with pimax play and default auto/oculus runtime in real mod. thanks! and despite this issue CD in VR is just.. wow

mkyl nthny

Thanks guys, I am doing that. I mostly wondered about the zoom when examining items not working, the left bumper + left thumbstick doesn't seem to have an effect there :( but independent of this, this is the first game I'm not really enjoying in VR though, so idk why I asked lol

Adam Munoz

Update: I was being dumb! No surprise to myself. Okay, got the controller working with the Frame. At this point the Frame vs my PSVR2 for Luke’s mods, I still like the PSVR2 ‘slightly’ more visually. Though that could be heavily because there may be settings in the Frame to adjust that I’m not aware of. There’s a lot to discover. So for now Brandon, thank you for the assist, I am good!

Brandon(Post Maester)

I hope you enjoy it :) How did you get it working, just so we know for future reference? The RealVR64.log file is located in the same game folder you drop the REAL files. Just in case you ever need to drop one in the future.

Brandon(Post Maester)

That is an issue with Pimax itself unfortunately. Have you tried using Sboys3's SteamVR driver for it yet? That might correct issues like that. If you haven't, it is worth trying!

Adam Munoz

I am enjoying it! Absolutely, so despite the controller being on and Steam input being off, to get the controller to engage and kick the VR controllers off, I had to press the center menu button on the controller. (This is an Xbox controller.) Once I did that it worked. I tested it with another controller and a PS5 as well, same thing. Center system button activated them. Have a good day!

realchulo

ok good to know its a known issue. i will try sboys drivers as soon as i get my current CD addiction under control!

Djules

Developer of OFXR here. I confirm, it works now with Cheeky for dynamic foveated rendering. Even wtihout cheeky, I am getting 90 FPS in AerV2 in CP77 as an example on my Pimax Crystal OLED at 100% sboys3 driver resolution (between 30 and 34 PPD), with a 5090. Compared to AERV2 1/2, there is less ghosting in my opinion. The only drawback is a bit more motion sickness with stick turns, but you get used to it (that's the result of AER with frame generation, and difficult to avoid). Latest version here: https://github.com/djules75/OFXR-Bridge/releases#release-0.2.8.1

Beyond Next-Gen

Hi guys. Had a quick question RE DLSS 5....I've been trying to get it working in Watch Dogs Legion and while the Reshade install is fine (UI is visible in HMD), the NR is refusing to hook. I followed the instructions to the letter and still doesnt seem happy. My question isnt actually how to fix...I just wanted to check, does it 100% work with this game? Is it worth me pursuing? Also, are there any supported games that 100% dont work with NR that I should not bother even trying with? Fascinated by this tech and keen to experiment, just want to avoid time-sucks. Btw Dead Space with NR is INSANE. You created a monster.

Djules

That works also with Pimax OpenXR, but I recommend sboys3 SteamVR, it should run better.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Haven't tried it in that game. You could also try using the latest version of Cheeky standalone too. Just disable my fork if that is what you are using if you do try it. Some people have said it works better with REAL now, but I haven't tried it yet.

Andrei Boruzescu

Hi does anyone know if Indiana Jones is broken?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Shouldn't be, I don't see any recent updates, and I was testing DLSS NR in it last week. If you are just setting it up, you need to set the game settings manually because REAL can't do it for that game.

Justin

Now that we have hopefully resolved the DRM crisis, thoughts on restoring the classics that were previously taken down by request? Noteably RDR2 & Witcher 3? This seems particularly relevant now since Witcher 3 remastered just dropped.

Bart Grudzien

Hi Luke. Why so few new games? Seems like you're mostly just running maintenance. Used to be at least 1 game per month or more.

AaronCLS

NGL it does seem to be a bit slow. Last game was Dead Space in July? Could be wrong, but I do check in here every couple of days to see what's going on. Hopefully Luke is working on something big to make it worth the wait, eh?

Brandon(Post Maester)

I think he is planning something soon. Getting chain loading with Reshade working was supposed to be a release in itself, I believe. It honestly adds a lot to the framework for people that want to use things like shader toggler etc. I honestly thought more people would be excited about it, but it doesn't seem like it 😢

flobv

I am excited. Reshade is a must have IMO. Glad he added support for it. Looking forward to Tigermaster's AFW for LR's games. We will finally be able to play RDR2 in synced native 3D stereo. At this point any optimization to his platform that benefit all supported games is welcome imo. Especially with the insane price for PCs/GPUs.

AaronCLS

Oh that does sound exciting, hope you cover that implementation with a video Brandon. Specially if it requires multiple steps.

Jay Shell

Hey I'm your target audience considering I prefer third-person games in VR especially with sword/melee. That said, I've barely been able to use your mods because you lock the vertical camera. Recently you added the option to (fully) unlock that camera to games such BG3 and Crimson Desert. Please consider adding this option to past games such as Souls and ER. Lastly, a way of knowing what new games will contain this unlock feature will be appreciated. I can't subscribe to you unless I know if the game(s) I want to experience will actually be playable for me. Thank you.

Sabine G.

Hey folks, since we are starving with new releases the past two months (yeah, there are folks that are not interested yet in DLSS 5 :) I revisited old friends. So I have to report an issue with the Far Cry Series, probably only for Pimax Dream Air. The weapon wheel you see when clicking left bumper is invisible whenever you have a weapon equipped. When you know where the spot for "put weapon away" is, you can see the wheel again since the UI switches from headattached to steady. I found this so far in Far Cry, Primal and New Dawn. Primal is unplayable as there is no option to go barehanded. Only option to make the UI visible was underwater where you have no weapon in hand... The other two can work when you know where the spot for barehanded is.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I haven't tried New Dawn lately or Primal. I'll check it out today or tomorrow :)

Logan Hamilton

I have messaged you with the problem that i have and you still havent replied. I have payed for this mod for Crimson Desert with no workin realvr fr older versions. Cut the bullshit man. I knw you wanna keep people keep paying you for updates but this bro feels like a fkn scam. No archives for older versions. So basically if we pay for this and the game is updated, new payers are fked!!! I need the version for the older version of Crimson Desert pls!!!! 1.14.00!!! I HAVE MESSAGED YOU!! Will continue to follow up on here through posts until you answer and let me know how it is and what is goin on! Keep being genuine with me and i will keep you payed bro. Don't fk me around old mate ere.

Brandon(Post Maester)

The current version should work with the current version of Crimson Desert. Why do you need it to work with 1.14? What you can do, is keep a separate copy of the game folder that works in a different location and if the game updates (at least on Steam) you can update and then drop the files from your copy into the updated game folder. That will keep Steam happy and roll back to your working game version. Just for future reference if you want to keep one particular version going.

Amir Khosh

Hi everyone! I have sometimes random CTD when playing 007 First Light. Is this a known bug?

Bart Grudzien

What's the benefit of adding Reshade to Luke Ross framework?

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is currently broken due the massive changes they made in the last update.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Still working on another release. Addon compatibility for Reshade could add lots of things. Shader toggler can be helpful in some games for disabling or changing HUD items and other potentially annoying shaders (possibly). That just depends on the game, but that is very much a tinkerers type of addition. It also adds support for RenoDX and other addons. RenoDX itself can improve Crimson Desert visuals and weather and seems to be used increasingly in other games lately. Again, that is only exciting for people who like to tinker with things and get the most out of it. Definitely nice to have. But it seems like most people here probably just want a game they can play through without much tinkering or hassle. Example of Reno for Crimson Desert. https://www.nexusmods.com/crimsondesert/mods/7 Again, he is working on another game release. And it has been 1 a month (at least) for quite a while.

Amir Khosh

Ah.. OK. Thanks for the quick response.

Brandon(Post Maester)

The weapon wheel shows up fine in my Aero with OpenXR. So maybe it is just a Pimax thing...... You are using Sboys driver?

Sabine G.

No, I got a replacement Dream Air which has no longer f**ked up 3D so I am back to the original Pimax Evo. SboyS was fine but it required SteamVR all the time which I really did not like.

Brandon(Post Maester)

OK, that makes sense then. The Oculus mode with Pimax has UI issues with REAL, so expect them to pop up in some games in some ways 🙃 It sure would be nice if Pimax just fixed stuff on their side and offered better distortion adjustment software.

NukNukOne

Not sure where to go with my question: just tried Hogwarts and it loved it. But when I changed the HUD and aimimg hud to smallest and the wirkd scale to 0.5 the game hang up after about 10 minutes. Restarting: the gameplay is flat, menus amd maps are vr. The overlay says vr is on. Switching vr on/off. Testarting pc and even reinstalling realvr new does not repair it

NukNukOne

Oopa, pressed enter too early. Also I noticed that thw realvr.ini is empty in the realrepro folder. Anybody know what to do before I yry reibstalling the game ( using stream). Thanks a lot and MANY thanks fland thumbs up for the REALVR Framework. LOVE IT!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Glad you were enjoying it. Not sure why those adjustments would cause the game to hang/crash. If it is not entering VR after reinstalling, try disabling DLSS and see if that kicks it into working. If not, put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin or google drive or anything that will allow you to post a link to it here. Just don't post the whole log file here please. What headset are you using and how is it connected if not DisplayPort?

David Peters

Hey Luke, I was curious as to your thoughts of the future of paid subs for VR mods. Seems like every day now there are more and more games coming out every day with other 3rd party mods, esp more and more with hand control tracking instead of using a controller. You were one of the first to really pioneer this field, and i've been along for the ride as a paid subscriber for a long time, but I am honestly really curious what makes your mods stand apart today as I have been considering canceling my paid sub. For me hand control tracking is a make or break feature as I hate using a controller which for me ruins the immersion. Anyway, thank you for all the hard work you have done working on your mods, and paving the way for others to bring the joy of VR mods to as many people as possible.

Sabine G.

Now the sad face turned into a crying face as I just found out that it affects every game not just the Far Cray series. Death Strandings kind of work still, when aiming I just have to throw my head back by a lot to move the aiming cursor at the targets in the middle of the screen. So maybe the UIs from other games are not fully gone but just somewhere I can't see them? Well this turned all of the games into walking sims when you can no longer aim or access/see the UI. :( I dislike SboyS as it blocks the ingame menu button for all UEVR games (SteamVR menu opens instead and I could not remap it) plus of course the perfomance cost so I think with Pimax Evo I am erased from the target audience here. Back to crying into my Dream Air.

NukNukOne

Hi Brandon. Disabling DLSS instantly fixed it! Turned it back on, and all is still ok! Thanks for the tip, and the fast response!

Brandon(Post Maester)

That seems like something else may be up then. I don't remember having that many UI problems with my Crystal Light. Which Death Stranding? I'll try it and see if I have the same issue.

Tomo

After the massive success of dead space remake i heard luke is working on the whole trilogy with Dlss5 implementation! Wait What ? Who said that 👀🙄😜

Brandon(Post Maester)

Honestly, I haven't tried most of the new stuff that seems to be flooding the VR landscape lately. I have watched videos on it though as well as looking at Discord channels. It seems like some of them are very good like Titan Fall 2 but some are very janky or need a lot of polish still. I think one of the major problems with AIing things is trying to aim too high and then it ends up creating all kinds of other issues when you try implementing new things all the time. I think Luke's simple approach and being able to play the game all the way through without major issues is still a very big positive. I still see people using his Cyberpunk version over the new one with motion controls for example because it keeps having problems. That has been out for months now. Long term that could and probably will change, but right now it seems like a very mixed bag of some good ones and some not so good ones. I am afraid of oversaturation as a VR enjoyer. Too many options can make it really hard to keep up with the really solid options. I for instance don't care about 99% of the games available with UEVR and I would have a very hard time scrolling through and picking out something that looks really good if I didn't already keep an eye on things I want to play. There could very well be some amazing gems there, but I am not going to wade through all the available games to try and find them. So, I still think the actual game is the most important thing. For instance, support for GTA 6 without motion controls would still trump Titan Fall 2 as good as it seems to be. Youtube is not somewhat helpful, but everything can be the "best VR mod I have played" (Here's looking at you Beardo). Or their all-time favorite, "This is INSANE!" Definitely an interesting and chaotic time for PC gaming and computer software in general. I also think people should get compensated for the really solid VR mods. It still can take a lot of time and effort even with AI. As someone who has been using AI quite a lot the last 2 or 3 weeks, it is still a lot of work testing things every step of the way to make sure you don't end up with a bunch of broken things as well as getting something to work. I think Flat2VR studios is pretty cooked unfortunately, along with probably most any VR studios at this point 😂😢😫 Why buy an ok VR game when you can just play the classics in VR? Then at some point, why buy any games when AI can just make something similar to what you like? Why have friends when AI can be your bestie? Why have a wife/husband/partner when you can have a submissive AI companion? I am pretty scared for the future if I am being honest. I was sitting back yesterday feeling like I should just turn my computer off, go back to nursing and spend all the time I can with my family. Because this is all quite likely going to come crashing down at some point not too far in the future. Those are my thoughts 😁

Sabine G.

The completely missing UI is "only" at KGD2, Cyberpunk *ahem*, Days Gone (no crosshair when aiming), all Far Cry games,.. and then I stopped testing for now. Death Stranding 1 is okayish I would say though. I bit the bullet (or bit into a sour apple as we say in Germany) and reinstalled SboyS and will toggle between it and PimaxEvo and also hope nothing breaks.

Tomo

my Ai friend is name Codex. bestie, but still struggles to make Hitman 3 VR mode with head aim and controler... soon I can feeel it

flobv

Luke Ross makes polished VR. The new wave of AI VR mods are mostly half baked VR mods, with exceptions of course. Luke deliveres a polished VR experience.

AaronCLS

YO, I wanted to give my 2 cents on the current hot topic. I've been playing a lot of the new Ai VR mods and, yeah, they are a ton of fun. BUT I am pretty sure they can coexist with Luke's mods just fine! According to my layman observations: 1 - LR's REAL is typically implemented for brand new games - new AI mods 75% do not 2 - (key) Caters to specifically the controller/kbm VR crowd - new AI mods 99% do not 3 - Large catalog of supported titles, a very enviable number too. 4 - REAL's Ai-less improvement curve is impressive, so far it's been flexible, scalable, and quite the looker. There is a LOT of room to grow, IMO. Essentially, REAL is a very, very decent package with a lot of potential, and it's uniquely positioned in the VR consumer community. If I were to offer a suggestion to LR, I would say Continue to: - hammer our quality VR support for new, quality banger game releases - increase performance as much as possible, squeeze every possible fps! - consider Ai yourself and get an optional second edge to your developer blade So, just more of what he's already been doing! To expand a bit more on #2 listed above: For example, the Praydog RE Framework is fantastic, right? But now (presumably without Praydog himself) support is going to the motion-capable Resident Evil titles exclusively. Almost nothing goes to the other Capcom games (Onimusha, Pragmata, Dragon's Dogma 2, SF6, etc.) because they are controller/kbm only. Most dont even work! This is honestly a huge L, because now no one will pick up support for those games since they are under the Umbrella of the REF mod already. Trapping those bangers in VR hell. This is one of the reasons why I think REAL holds a strong amount of value. At least for players like me, that aren't "motion control purists" and prefer the tasty variety of VR options.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, I really don't like the motion control only trend either. It is not going to work well at all in some games, but they are going to try and push it anyways. I like them in some games, but I just don't see the push for them in games like Elden Ring or Witcher 3 or something like that. It seems quite pointless and actually destructive to how the game functions. I want to enjoy the game world in fully immersive 3d mostly, I can do that just fine with a gamepad. For FPS it makes a lot of sense, but big open world RPGs, it just doesn't. It is more of a barrier IMO to immersion there. Yes, REF missing out on games like Monster Hunters and Pragmata is actually a serious bummer for me. Dragons Dogma 2 as well. I would love to play those, but they had/have too many issues and don't seem to get any support whatsoever. I completely agree with you here!!!

Darren Stoller

A new game now would be great timing :)

AaronCLS

Dragons Dogma 2 with its new expansion! :D

Sasshi

I just enjoy all the various vr mods of some of my favorite games came out recently. The hate between VR modders is just stupid. Even if a VR mod is not perfect,if it is a game that you really like it might be the perfect vr experience for you. Just saying

Brandon(Post Maester)

I haven't noticed much hate between modders. I also think the most important thing is if you actually like the game or not :)

JA

this doesn't sound promising for the future I only got into VR conversions and PCVR in the last couple years, I don't want this to come crashing down soon. :(

Brandon(Post Maester)

@JA I could be absolutely wrong. I didn't mean VR conversions would come crashing down, they will probably only grow in number. The quality may be all over the place though. PC gaming could come crashing down in some ways, kind of like hardware is starting to. I think AI can bring a lot of chaos and problems that we are not ready for. I would like to think it ends up in a better world and society, but who knows. The transition period as things change rapidly is just unpredictable. I was mainly talking about society shifting drastically and that can be really scary. It could also end up with some real positives. There is no telling, I just have a general sense of dread when it comes to people in power and the growing abilities of AI. But don't let my pessimism bring you down! I was just sharing my own thoughts. I also don't want to turn this into a big negative thread 😁 Please do enjoy PCVR as much as you can!

flobv

Where Winds Meet would be a nice game to showcase the new DLSS 5 in VR.

Jay Shell

I think the motion control people are just more vocal, annoyingly so. Also, I'm guessing a lot of these clearly made for 3rd person games aren't getting played the entire way through in 1st person motion controlled mode. It's more likely a "this is neat" thing that gets old fast. First person shooters being an exception.

flobv

I was about to post the same request.

Brandon(Post Maester)

That is a no go, I am sure. Always online and you can most likely get banned for trying to "mod" it or read memory etc.

Dawid Kolosowski

Hi Luke, a new "Immersive First Person" mod for TLOU2 just dropped on Nexus Mods, but it currently conflicts with your VR mod's camera hooks. When using an ASI loader to inject the FPP files, the game runs perfectly in first-person, but the VR environment completely fails to initialize. Is there any chance you could look into a compatibility workaround so we can experience true first-person in VR?

flobv

There are already mods for it, especially reshade mods.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Try using the version.dll file from the .asi loader github that mod points you to.

Brandon(Post Maester)

It isn't a matter of anticheat and not being able to hook the game or something. It is a matter of not being able to access game memory offline and getting banned for it. There is no offline mode to work with. Unless I am wrong.

Dawid Kolosowski

I tried using the 64-bit version.dll from the Ultimate ASI Loader GitHub exactly as suggested. While the first-person mod works with it, the LukeRoss VR mod overlay says 'VR not available' and the headset gets no signal. It seems using version.dll breaks the VR mod's injection hook (dxgi.dll). Any other way to chainload them?

Brandon(Post Maester)

You already tried with winmm.dll as well? I'll give it a shot later.

Dawid Kolosowski

Yes I tried with winmm.dll and is the same...finger cross

Brandon(Post Maester)

I tried with 4 of them and I couldn't get it to work either unfortunately. I'll try to dig a bit deeper today to see if I can figure it out but it might just conflict outright since it is a camera mod. Plenty of cam mods work with other games though, so 🤷‍♂️

Dawid Kolosowski

I really appreciate your time and effort in looking into this! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll discover the 'secret code' to bridge these two amazing mods. Experiencing The Last of Us Part 2 in true first-person VR will absolutely blow everyone's socks off. Good luck with the digging!

Ubisoft updated games again (at least Avatar and Star Wars Outlaws). They update these an awful lot. Anyway, I updated and tried Avatar and it's not hooking and in fact crashing the game with the REAL engine installed. Not sure about SWO, but I suspect it's that one as well.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. They do seem to update a lot but there are no actual updates to the games themselves when you see them all have an update. It is an Ubi update I think, which makes it seem like the game updates but I see no actual update for the game on its own page. Might be a good idea to make sure that Ubi update didn't mess up settings somehow.

Roguer62

Yeah the build ID is the same. But one of the depot's changed. It forced steam's blue "Update Required" tag. I can get around it, but I often spot check the games to make sure they are still working with REAL engine. In this case, at least for Avatar, it's not following through with the hook.

Tiger Man

ok i got the problem i'm about to rewrite the question, i get an error during kingdom come deliverance installation, here's the full install log (GAMEPASS VERSION) Fixing folder permissions... .\BsSndRpt64.exe: Accesso negato. Elaborazione completata per 9 file. Elaborazione non riuscita per 1 file Working around NVIDIA V-Sync bug... WARNING: A new profile backup will NOT be made because one already exists in the RealRepo folder. Forcing V-Sync to Off for application "I:\XboxGames\Kingdom Come- Deliverance II\Content\KingdomCome.exe"... Vertical Sync is already set to Force off Success! Installing graphics settings preset... "ELSE" non è riconosciuto come comando interno o esterno, un programma eseguibile o un file batch. WARNING: The game appears to never have been run. If you haven't set the game options as explained in the INFO post, please abort the installation and do that now or R.E.A.L. VR won't work correctly. Do you want to (A)bort or (C)ontinue? [A,C]? i don't know if is related but basically in this game the resolution inside the reshade menu is not working, i can only use resolutions set in game options. the problem then is that resolution is not 1:1 with headset ratio so is adapted for the headset and the image has BLACK BARS inside the frame itself, this cause ofxr to pick that and that's why i get those black bars in the middle of the sceen, ofxr is reprojecting those bars too. Now the question, are those error above an issue with gamepass so is not working for me or that's normal that we must rely on internal game resolution ? any chance to have a crop without black bars instead ?

Tiger Man

also where is the INFO POST ? since cp2077 removal you have never restored older post so we do not have information for the older specific games available anymore. This has happened also with other games, we are on our own and i don't know where to write about issues for that specific game as the posts are locked. will you restore those info posts sooner or later ? you blame because we don't read but then you let us not able to do it when we want

Tiger Man

honestly i don't even know of is because of that, i tried playing a bit with hfov vfov and headset resolution but it looks i'm not able to get rid of this effect even if i let the headset to match the game resolution. any advice would be really appreciated

Brandon(Post Maester)

Gamepass has encrypted settings so REAL can't access them. Therefore, you get the "never run" error for Gamepass. The workaround is to install it anyways and make sure you have set those yourself. I don't know what you mean by setting resolution in Reshade. If you mean the REAL overlay PPD slider, yes that uses a ratio more suited to your headset. The res in game settings is a different AR that keeps menus and everything from being cut off. Restoring the posts takes time, it is not something he has not done on purpose. It is just extra time, and he is working on other things. Would be nice though. 😉 I think my post for the game setup is still up as well, if you look up Kingdom Come in the search. Also try lowering the "reduce shaking" slider to 0.

Tiger Man

issue is only with legacy AER if that can help, if i enable expertmode and use aerv2 without 1/2 does not have that issue

Brandon(Post Maester)

The only thing AERV2 would do is increase the frame cap over Legacy. So, more fps possibly and different latency.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Still injects just fine for me.......... Could always try running the config again.

Roguer62

Yep! Re-installed the engine again and now it works. Thanks

Tiger Man

no i've noticed it also in doom tda yesterday, legacy acts different about side borders when you rotate compared to aerv2, if you push with settings/res is quite essy to spot, my fear now is that it is everywhere

Brandon(Post Maester)

Have you disabled Hfov and Vfov? Do you have lower latency with AERV2 than Legacy?

Tiger Man

no is everything default, but i've tried everything the only thing that stop that behaviour is to switch to aerv2, but i need legacy

Brandon(Post Maester)

I'll check it out tomorrow and see if I have any ideas for you. So, you just have the black bars on the sides of your view when turning with your head? Or stick? Or both? Anything else running in the mix? Is it for OFXR or something?

Tiger Man

black bars are moving in legacy like headset movement, when i turn with gamepad/mouse, no ofxr or anything just plain luke ross, confirmed doom tda and kcd2 will test other games later. with aerv2 with no fractions i see black bars slightly moving only with headset, not with gamepad/mouse

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, that sounds weird, you sure you don't have anything else active in the background? No motion smoothing or anything?

Brandon(Post Maester)

No black bars for me with stick rotation on legacy in Doom TDA. It is there with the "reduce shaking" slider at the default of 600 but goes away when lowering that down to 0. I am at 90hz/fps.

Tiger Man

basically legacy sends position to openxr all the time while aerv2 sends only when the frame is ready. i ll check that shaking slider tonight. i am at 120hz and i pushed settings to lower game fps, also i use mouse in doom that is generally much quicker than gamepad. thanks for cheking out

Hi Brandon, I hope you're doing well! I wanted to ask you something about Luke Ross. We haven't heard much from him or seen any news about his VR mods for several months now. Do you happen to know what's going on? Is he working on something behind the scenes, taking a break, or has he decided to stop developing VR mods altogether? As a big fan of his work, I'm starting to wonder about this long silence. It would be great to know if we can still expect new projects or updates from him. Thanks in advance for any information you might have! Best regards, Tony

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yes, he is working on something. He also had to fix Bond twice over after some major updates to the game, which broke things terribly and made some really weird changes. Thanks for the continued support as always :) Hopefully something will be dropping very soon!

Tiger Man

reduce shacking slider completely solved the issue in legacy, thank you so much you're a savior. this will give back something very soon :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

You're welcome :) Looking foward to seeing whatever you are cooking up.

Hi Brandon, Well, what an incredible surprise! 😄 Just when I was starting to have doubts about the future of Luke Ross's work, wondering whether he would continue developing R.E.A.L. VR, here comes GTA V Enhanced! It's Christmas come early! 🎄 I honestly can't describe how happy and excited I am. What Luke is achieving with virtual reality is absolutely extraordinary. Thanks to his incredible work, we can experience our favorite games in ways we could only dream of a few years ago. I want to thank Luke from the bottom of my heart for his dedication, passion, and all the countless hours he puts into making these experiences possible. And Brandon, a huge thank you to you as well for always being there, answering our questions, keeping us informed, and supporting this wonderful community. What is happening with R.E.A.L. VR is truly magical, and I think I speak for the entire community when I say how grateful we are. Thank you both, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart! Warmest regards, Tony ❤️

Matt

Attempted to run Crimson Desert in VR but it seems the DLC update is having some issues with the mod and the VR won't initialize unfortunately. Is this just me ( I have an install issue) or is this just expected until Luke is able to update the CD injector?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, the DLC update broke it. Will have to wait for an update from Luke.

Matt

How long does it usually take to patch stuff like this, I'm out of my depth when talking about mods and I can imagine this is quite the intensive amount of work needed.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Just depends on the damage and what else is broken or Luke is working on. Hard to say at any one time. Most of the time Luke fixes things relatively quickly. There have been lots of updates lately though and I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped another patch today or tomorrow that breaks things again. I do wish they would fix some of the remaining graphical issues in one of these major updates.........
