Does it actually have to be 90s rock, or is the description left over from last time? (I think I'll be able to slot into that either way, but just curious)

REZZ - Plague. It was the first REZZ track I ever heard and is still one of my favorites of hers. It's the first song on her first EP, and when I heard it, I knew she was an artist I wanted to follow whatever she did for years to come, and I have! It's very dark EDM, and was unlike anything I was listening to at the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvPj8RwT4Wk

"Creepy Green Light" by Type O Negative -- in the grand scheme of things not really their creepiest song, but it's equal parts gorgeous and spooky and a treat to listen to. https://youtu.be/jQJ3DjQVrdg?si=WpTRfz341BP7JYhX (The bridge ends around 5:00 and it's mostly just repeating the chorus after that, so it's optional, but still pretty engaging)

I've asked Ixi in the Discord too. 🤞🏻

I'm sorry that was a copy and paste error :( No year or genre restrictions

😄 A lot of The Residents' tracks would qualify as "kinda spooky"… 👁️👁️👁️💀 … 😄 So it's a tough one for me (as a Residents lover 😌), but i would choose "Vampire", a cute little outtake from the "Demons Dance Alone" 2002 album… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjeCGfDZB1Q - If the title doesn't inspire you, "Constantinople" from the 1974 album "Duck Stab" will be perfect too… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsEz1OAUBBM … I am, at the moment, working on a whole album of cover songs from The Residents discography, so i'm listening to them on a daily basis… 😅 Perfect for my mental health.

the scariest songs I can think of are all country songs and I wouldn't want to harm any of the wonderful people listening to this wonderful listening party. but I will think of something

👍 Nice track indeed. ✨

Great choice!!!!

I went back and forth on the studio version of this vs the live version - the live is too good and feels like an actual seance so... there's a 1:30 of intro to it that you should skip. I think I have the correct url for that- Zeal and Ardor - Blood in the River - https://youtu.be/kWm7kipmC8o?t=94

Klors

Artist - Godspeed You! Black Emperor Title - Dead Flag Blues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAgRDScygic The concept of "Dystopian" - in music form, spoken word over drone and violin and guitar. If you do decide to skip anything, then between 4 - 6 mins is probably the least bad bit to skip, you'll miss a nice instrumental transition from guitar to violin if you do.

Bring on a country song plz!!!!

Klors

do your worst!

Playing country music is too scary. It would be a crime against humanity. The U.N. would take away my lunchtime privileges. Besides...I've already made a suggestion that will be plenty scary (just not as scary as country music). Remember, by not suggesting country music I am thinking about everyone's welfare.

i feel like i'm missing the joke, why would country music be a crime against humanity

Recoil - Vertigen https://youtu.be/-7GSASTwnA8?si=lkfIQYheO_tFul0H From the conceptual album "Liquid," which emerged from a traumatic, near-death experience following an accident that happened to the mastermind behind this project: Alan Wilder (formerly of Depeche Mode) and his partner. This event altered his perception of life and generated several stories inspired by that near-death experience. This song is one of them, featuring narration in Catalan by Rosa M. Torras and the vocalizations of the great Diamanda Galás. It was difficult for me to choose just one song because the album warrants a listen in its entirety... ;)

If the prompt is for songs which _sound_ scary, you can skip this. Everything Everything - Bad Friday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6AvvikfYwA Sounds like a bop about a crazy night out. Lyrics make it sound like it's about being chased by a shapeshifter. It's actually about attempting to repress traumatic events by pretending you don't remember them.

I love me some different interpretations of the listening party theme

I was going to play it safe and just pick something from a movie OST I just rewatched, The VVitch. But a lot of the tracks contain plot spoilers. I also emailed the artist for my pick for Non-English but didn't hear back in time. I didn't want to lump them into "scary" just because it sounds unsettling on first listen. Then I thought about what actually scares me. Not being in control of what I remember.
