Oh my! "Half Day Closing" was always my favorite from this album.

This album is beautiful, so I'm looking forward to this!

ixi, you’ve already heard some tracks from this album in a few listening parties, like the one dedicated to trip-hop or the electronic music one. I hope you'll enjoy the album as a whole (as you seemed to enjoy the few songs you already listened).

A bit late to the party on this, but I appreciate what you said about this album in particular, starting to feel "too Portishead-y". As a fan, I feel that about this album, even though I reeeeeally like it! For me, the proximity of this and Dummy both musically and in the lives of the band members (they were in roughly the same place in life for both) makes me lump both albums together in my mind. (The live Roseland album probably influences this mental "lumping" together as well.) Contrast that with Third, which I fucking ADORE. And honestly Ixi? I think you specifically will get far more out of that album than this one. The song structures and very soundscapes themselves are so, so much more varied, and they have an intensity that isn't so present here. Just thinking about Third makes me long for them to make another album together, especially with the evolution of Beth Gibbons through her solo projects in recent years and Geoff Barrow through his soundtrack work. My two cents! Hopefully enough other m-/patrons would also like to see a listening party for Third at some point.
