2026-09-26 14:00 Artist: Field Music Track: Give It, Lose It, Take It Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqyOauw_mmw Length: 3:59 Year First Released: 2007 I was about 36 (many many years ago) when I discovered this group and totally freaked out on them. This cut may not be one of the best examples of it (from a couple years after I found out about them), but for a while I seriously thought they were the next coming of The Beatles. I love the shifting meters and accents, the raw sound and mix, the fantastic harmonic choices and counterlines, basically everything undeniably human in the performance and production of all their tracks, this one included. Hope other folks will also appreciate it the way I have over the years too!

Artist - Maddie Ashman Title - Dark Length - 3:11 https://youtu.be/DxmiWL4Ku10 A lovely-unsettling song about a daughter running away from their mother trying to call them in for the evening and getting lost and scared. "Microtonality", great guitar technique and vocals. I'll be seeing her live at the end of this stream.

2026-09-26 14:00 Artist: Leila Song Title: Vordhosbn [Original by Aphex Twin] Length: 5:01 https://youtu.be/eAFXSVeEKFE Not just a cover by one of my favourite tracks by Aphex Twin, but a complete reimagination on piano. Melancholy and haunting, yet also comforting. The chords she chooses are absolutely gorgeous and capture the essence of the original track. Also, this is my first request since I joined. Exciting!

Artist: Stan Rogers Song Title: Turnaround Length: 3:39 https://youtu.be/Xqd4mICcP-s?si=mNdUs27F2Hapysbu This was used for the 2005 TV movie, "Terry", a biographical film about Terry Fox. Fox was an amazing athlete who ran a marathon a day, on one leg, to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society, until he was no longer physically able to run. Every year people from across the globe have a charitable run in September that raises money for cancer research. The run as of 2026 has raised over $1 billion in contributions.

Length: 5:00 (ixi has asked for the track length. I think it is a new thing.)

Please play “La Pernette” by The Thorn. It’s a traditional French folk song arranged and performed by a new folk rock band from London. The sound harks back to the late 60s early 70s British folk rock scene. I’m quite enjoying it right now. https://youtu.be/GuxvpslnLy4?is=3s9iA6Luwer5kdzG PS - it’s a few seconds over 5 mins

Mark Delaney

Artist: Cinder Well Track: The Wise Man's Song Link: https://youtu.be/aMozPZ7-GzA?si=lFTdfQsFXvzbtCcl Length: 2:43 This beautiful song is used throughout the BBC show Small Prophets and is about hoping that a lover who has left will return. I guess it could be classed as English Folk but this song has been under my skin for some time. The show is excellent too.

I really like Leila. Her album “Like Weather” is very unique

Song: Tell Me Marie Artist: One Dimensional Man https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=VEJY4JCTfJM&si=6gjAxOsEvEkXvAvF One Dimensional Man is an Italian band from Venice. They’ve been around since the ’90s. I like how the guitar moves around the song. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the singer, I wasn’t a fan of his work with his other bands. He recently acted in a movie I liked, so I decided to give his music another shot. I ended up really liking this album, so at this point I’ve just accepted that I’m fond of the guy.

Justin Blumberg

Artist: Air France Song Title: Collapsing Outside Your Doorstep Song Length: 4:34 YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz3_K1CFy_w This is probably my favorite Air France track. They didn't release much music but what they did release was excellent.

"Last Day of Summer" by Rick Altizer 4:06 / 2001 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzzOzL9bee0 Full disclosure, I will definitely not be online for this. But I always think of this song around this time of year. It's an obscure one, but the chorus melody & chords will haunt me forever. Altizer's stuff can be hit-or-miss, but he does have Adrian Belew featured on some of his songs (not this one), so he's definitely got the juice.

might give ixi some insight into the General Levy/Prodigy hype track from a few listening parties ago too

NicTunes

Artist: Lucy Rose Title: Could You Help Me Length: 2:47 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74box_ehZmo Since there's no official theme for this livestream, I'm going to pretend the one I suggested on Discord got the green light anyway and champion another incredible female artist worthy of praise 🙌 I requested this song for the Winning Piano livestream with the option to skip it in favour of other requests, which ended up happening, so I'm gonna give it a proper try here 😉 Truth be told, there is winning all throughout this track - Delicate vocals, vulnerable lyrics, elegant piano chords, and a psychedelic guitar solo that comes out of nowhere. Keen to hear your thoughts on this one if you get a chance to play it!

Which stream was this? I've not been able to really catch much this month

Artist: A Quiet Revolution Track: Hell is a Closed Door (5:02) https://youtu.be/t88vHzD0z90 In my ongoing quest to wow ixi with things she hasn't heard before, may I present my favourite track from this jazzy trip-hop flavoured 2001 ambient album by Undertones guitarist Damian O'Neill. (Yes, the Teenage Kicks Undertones.) Unfortunately, this one's unheard enough that it wasn't even on YouTube so I had to throw together a quick video myself. That's why it's on my personal channel, which I normally only use to store unlisted videos from gigs I attended to share with friends. As per the rules, it's *not* an original work.

So proactive, I love it! Thanks!

Hype Tracks, think it was one of these Patreon ones

Ah right, cheers! From a while ago so I think I'll get away with it, though I do have a back-up just in case...

Dire Docks

Artist: Tsukasa Saitoh Track: "Damp Tomb" Length: 1:38 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqgXpQBkXkc This is a track from the soundtrack of the 2001 video game King's Field: The Ancient City. I finished the game last month, and was impressed by the beautiful music that plays as you explore the fantasy world. What do you imagine is the setting for hearing this melody?

ObidiahBumbly

Artist: mewithoutYou Song: Bear's Vision of St. Agnes Duration: 5:00 https://youtu.be/dgLB3YgAh_U I've kind of been thinking about all the songs from the "last song you listen to" streams and this was another one I had. The ending feels so final to me(even though you can still hear the beginning of the next song lol)

sanchorelaxo

Artist: Beirut Track: Regulatory URL - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNJJ2DPb-Yc Length :3:18 the last track from their Hadsel album, where more than ever i think you can hear that Beirut had evolved beyond Zach Condon's child prodigy project (and he WAS), where the sounds, layers & harmonies from touring together make it back into the studio. And as always, just gorgeous stuff.

NicTunes

Nice one! I almost requested that song for this livestream 😀 Let's hope ixi plays it! Add me to the list of people waiting for a dedicated Shoegaze stream! 👞👀👀

Canopus

Artist: Tujiko Noriko Track: Mannequin Surfer Length: 6:01 Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_p0owBaUj8 Hi ixi, I tried to request this song in the past, so now that I joined Patreon, I will try again. I discovered this song after someone on YouTube uploaded it with footage from a Japanese horror film I watched with my friends some months ago and it stuck with me.

sanchorelaxo

omg 'i am not familiar w this artist' was the best part. that means so much loveliness is ahead of you! i love that feeling

Arashmickey

hey thanks for the playlist! i'm making timestamps, after i'll see if the song order in the playlist needs adjusting

Wax Duck

So far, these links have been to temporary playlists with tracks in submission order. I use them to easily load all the tracks into my player and I post them in case they're useful to anyone else before the stream. It'll always be in the "wrong" order because I don't know what the played order will be. I think I told you about the trick you need to do to save these via YT Music. Did I also mention that the easiest way I've found to put them in the "right" order is? Switch back to YT, starting with the first track played, going in played order, click "Move to bottom" from the three-dot menu. When you run out of played tracks, continue from the top until you reach the first track.

The two younger sisters fought the older sister to make a more current / pop sound in this song. They kept after it, saying they could make it heavier, and let her do some effects with the guitar. The Drummer said “I’ll sing parts of it… please let this song exist”. The three of them vote on the songs they create. It was so different on my first hearing I separated ll the instruments and vocals and analyzed the song structure and the studio effects. Yes they are attempting to evolve their music into some of their tastes, but it’s still rooted in their classical music keyboard lessons. I saw them live in Albuquerque around the time you did this. Still hands down the best live performances I’ve seen in years. The Rock thing and the pop thing holds them back a bit. I have this feeling though in a decade they are going to break out of this.
