Happy October peeps! The Slip is pretty cool. Let's listen to it. It was free and unexpected and short and kind of messy but it grew on me, hard. I love this album, especially a consecutive grouping of tracks...all shall be revealed! Oh and the artwork is awesome. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about this album while we listen!

I've been relistening to The Slip lately and I'm seeing it in a whole new way. I used to think it was mostly about the anxiety of getting older and the fear of slipping into old habits. But now, I'm starting to think it's about the realization of your loved ones' mortality (particularly from dementia), how you internalize that realization and how it creates a situation parallel to the one at the beginning of your downward spiral. Maybe I'm just reading into it with my own interpretation but I feel like 1,000,000, Discipline, Head Down, Lights in the Sky, Corona Radiata, The Four of Us Are Dying, and Demon Seed tell that story clearer than I was previously able to understand it. Damn, I'm gonna have to go listen to it again brb.

Once you start you cannot help yourself with The Slip ;) I hadn't really considered the subject matter too much. See this is why I love doing this - I learn just as much from y'all as you do from me!

Excited for this! The Slip is the rare NIN album that for years I just resolutely could not get into. But then I decided to spend a week listening to it every day and by the end of the week I dunno what I was missing because this album is AMAZING. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on "Lights in the Sky".

I vaguely remember once going to NIN’s website to see what’s going on and “wait a new album? For free?!”. I didn’t listen to it much back then, but now it’s one of my “air travel listens” together with Year Zero and Hesitation Marks. Brilliant.
