This video drops us straight into the heart of Trench — dust rising, danger closing in, and Tyler caught between fear and defiance. It’s cinematic, symbolic, and honestly? A little overwhelming in the best way. You can feel the shift in their storytelling here. The urgency. The grit. The hope buried under all that noise.

Watching it for the first time made me slow down and pay attention to things I normally miss — the colors, the pacing, the way the music almost claws its way out of the frame. I could be wrong, but it feels like the beginning of a battle Tyler’s not ready for… and one he can’t avoid.

We’re on a journey with this album, and videos like this really show how intentional the world-building is. Let’s learn together.

You said in your descrption that it was a little overwhelming, and it is. It was for us too although we had the benefit of a little bit of world building from the dma org site before this video came out. Things will all become Clear. A little bit of info about the spoken introduction "we've been here the whole time. You were asleep. Time to wake up" is probably a reference to what is referred to a 'the hiatus', when they went totally quiet for a year before Trench. Before the hiatus started they posted images of an eye, in Blurryface era colours and style, gradually closing. We were asleep, they were there in/making Trench the whole time.

The petals falling down on him is so iconic that when they sing Jumpsuit at concerts, yellow confetti/ petals come down from the ceiling and it feels like you’re there in the trench too! It’s a way for them to show support and encouragement even though they were unable to come down at the time to where he was. It gave him a desire to try and escape.

I've watched it a few times now. As if they didn't sell the song enough musically and lyrically, they go and make this video. Dang....Tyler's/Clancy 's face when he succumbs to Nico and is following him....it's so defeated and heavy, and so reflective of how that applies to life sometimes. I love, LOVE this whole story and metaphor. It's so beautiful and like you said, this album is such a vibe!!

I will say...things do get more clear with the general story overall. However, 100% percent clarity is ehhhh debatable lol. There are a few different interpretations on some details and what not. I kinda like that not everything is spelled out.

Now that we fully get into the lore, I just wanna say that i highly encourage you to look at the dmaorg website and the all the letters and cryptic stuff we got along the way if you want to get deeper into the lore. The boys did so much world building and there is so much extra context for this world that they’ve build out there. Of course the music by itself is great but this story has been told not only through songs and music videos but through websites and puzzles, posts on social media, live shows, exhibits and more. There is so much more to discover if you‘re down for it!

Don’t know if anyone else mentioned this, this MV was filmed in Iceland. Nico And The Niners was filmed in Ukraine. Such beautiful settings.

Before you start Clancy there is a 4 minute video on the TOP website that helps bring the Lore together to that point. I would suggest waiting for that.
