I'm so sorry about your friend Mathew. I'm crying with you all the way over here in England. NF expresses the pain and understandable anger of his loss so well. I feel a little more comfortable sharing this here than on youtube but I have no relationship with my mother. She was always present but was absent in almost everyway emotionally. She and I never connected at all, even as a little girl the bond just wasn't there. I don't think she ever told me 'I'm proud of you' or 'I love you'. She and I have always been strangers who know each other. Thank God I had my Dad. I didn't realise how it had affected many of my life choices and who I am until quite recently when I talked it through with someone. Now, "open the slits in your face and start your day."

Tears are never stupid. I can tell you have a very compassionate heart and are a good father. I can’t imagine what Nate’s mother did. He was so incredibly vulnerable to make this song. It hurts my momma heart! I love my children, but this song makes my aware that I could try to be even more present in their lives while I have the chance!
