Yes I believe those are supposed to be the symbol of dema, don’t write me on this but I believe the hooded figures are bishops??

Jules

Typing as I watch - The dma org letter 022 03MOON 17 tells us what was going on on the sub - it also tells us that those were not the real Bishops. https://www.twentyonepilots.wiki/docs/scaledandicy/03-17-22-third-handwritten-note-added. The theory about Shy Away video vs Saturday video is a decent one. I think the Shy Away video is definitely a propaganda video...Tyler looks really pissed off at having been put in front of the camera, and there are even subliminal Sai symbols in the video. Nalbis is a great Lore theorist, highly recommend him. There's only so much we can tell you in comments! He came up with his own ideas rather than just regurgitating other peoples ideas .Not all these theories came to fruition but the fun at the time was in the thinking. Nalbis is actually currently working on a full Lore breakdown project. (side note - I'm not a fan of the 'anti capitalist' theory though, I don't see it. I'm always wary of people imposing their own ideologies onto the Lore, which happens a lot. I prefer to stick to the info we;ve been given by the band in some form and the symbolism that is more undeniable based on Tyler and Josh's backgrounds). Vultures - The Banditos see how they can turn life into death and are inspired by that, so in that way they are good. But they are 'bad' in that they are seized by the Bishops when dead to be spies. Their eyes (and Trash's) glow yellow because they are being seized. Trash who I believe is a vulture, in a cool propaganda form (I'll die on that hill!) is therefore also being seized by Keon's to destroy the sub (and in the Shy Away video to destroy the fake construct) and help Clancy. I have no idea if any of that will help! Edited to clarify that I think vultures and Trash are 'good guys' as they represents Tyler's imagination/creativity and how it can utilised to help Clancy defeat Dema, but that creativity/imagination can also be used for bad purposes.

All Nalbis videos are incredibly good, huge recommendation to take a look a few more of them.

I don’t know that I subscribe to the idea the guy in the video was saying about the dragon being bad and a symbol of deception. Because in the choker video, Tyler wanted the figurine and what it represented so much that he was willing to take it and run with it. However, I haven’t ever done a deep dive into the meaning of trash myself so this was very interesting journey to take with you! lol

Jules

I found a couple of things Tyler said about Trash "Trash the dragon is equal parts inspiration, fear, and magic. I wanted to tie our songs to something as powerful as that." and "He's powerful. He really represents the creativity and the imagination that I was trying to capture during the making of the record" There are a lot of things in the Lore we really never did pin down fully as Tyler never confirmed exactly what a lot of it means, he just drops little hints here and there.

Yeah. I wasn’t fully on board with some of the ideas they were discussing either.

I kinda love the shy away/ Saturday theory. Now I wouldn't go so far as to say its lined up 1:1 like what was presented, but a lot of the parallels make sense to me along with all the sai imagery of tylers mind. I wonder if the podcast was wise bear? Also nalbis videos are spectacular. the fairee queen connections down to some of the specific words used is wild. Personally I dont think either the dragon or the vultures are good or bad per say, but I'm not 100 percent. I think the idea that the album may be represented by the dragon deception..more like the album is deceptive, not necessarily like the dragon is "bad" just symbolic....like the bishops have hijacked his "inspiration/creativity" (what trash is supposed to represent) and that is the deception.
