I commented twice on youtube and it deleted both of them :( So I will write them again here before I watch this with you. Apologies if you cover some of this at some point. Firstly, you might well have heard Paul before when he was in Earthsuit which was a Christian band, or with Mutemath. Forever Phase is his first solo work not under the name mutemath. Hopefully at some point you will watch the mutemath x top session from the Blurryface era and you will see Paul again then, that's before he started producing with them.

The other thing I wrote was an explanation of Ambulance. Paul told the story on Instagram - it's about when his 18 month old daughter had a seizure, and his wife whilst holding her fainted and wouldn't come around, so he sped to his daughter to the hospital in his van, running red lights and yelling at cars to get out of the way. Turned out they were febrile seizures due to a raised temperature and she was fine. Afterwards he realised in his sheer panic that he hadn't thought to call 911 for an ambulance which would have been the common sense thing to do - "I'm wondering if any sense made it in the ambulance I forgot to call". Paul tells the story here -> https://www.instagram.com/p/DQCpT9nj10N/

The drummer is I think David 'Hutch' Hutchison who I beleive was the drummer in Paul's old band Earthsuit. But I'm not 100% sure on that.

i knew and really liked their first album which is self-titled Mutemath in the late 00s but then for some reason never followed up on any of their other albums. Then they cropped up in the twenty one pilots universe when they supported them on the Emotional Roadshow Tour. I had zero knowledge of Earthsuit as Christian music was definitely not relevant to my interests in the 90s! 😆

YouTube has done that to me before also. Not totally sure, but I think it might have been when I tried to make a comment with a link attached to another video or social media post. I watched his video also explaining the story behind Ambulance. Gives good perspective.

Yes it definitely doesn't allow links but I didn't have one in either comment. youtube does it to me now and then for no apparant reason and after a couple of days it lets me comment again. 🙄

I’m always amazed at artists who are so talented on so many different instruments and technologies. As you said, he’s like a mad scientist in a lab/ playground. They can literally go anywhere sonically! Tyler said something similar I think it was to Zane Lowe on how a song will go may really only be the difference in turning right or left or which instrument he decided to play on that day. Overall a very smooth sounding album! Visually very creative too with the reverse playbacks, split screens, etc. I like the older footage too. From what I understand esp in “say the word” there are images pointing to his earlier works with Mutemath and Earthsuit.
