First one here. Most old school hip hop, really does focus on success and the streets. However even new age rap often has vulgar lyrics because having women, (easily able to get women), is often viewed as a form of success.

YES! SUCH AN AWESOME ALBUM! Glad to see you start Hov's discography! You are in for QUITE the treat! Also, Blueprint 1 is one of his best albums... one of the best albums period. You will adore it I'm sure!

When is the Eminem series starting?

Rick Rubin who’s worked with Jay z before, and who has produced many legendary albums. Said the same thing about Jay z, that he will just sit and listen to the beat, maybe quietly hum to himself. He won’t write anything down at all, and then he just goes in and lays down his verse. It’s cool to see multiple sources saying that’s how he does it.

politics as usual beat is next level

There's a music video to friend or foe that shows the story visually there's definitely a continuation too, I dont remember if its on this album tho.

You didn't mention it specifically (and talked over it 😭( but Jay's line at the end of Can't Knock The Hustle "You ain't having it, good me either, let's get together and make this whole world believe us -" and then proceeding to give his black capitalist mission statement is essentially the ethos of his career and beyond the bragadocio, the best version of what Jay represents to fans who don't even share his fondness for big business- the strive for it mentality you broke down from the course.

Lin Manuel Miranda even studied Friend or Foe/looped it repeatedly when writing Hamilton

"Bleek can be one hit away his whole career, along as I'm alive he's a millionaire, and even I die he's in my will somewhere so he can just sit back and chill somewhere-" Jay on the Diamonds Are Forever remix, though Bleek didn't like that line ultimately. It really is till death for them.
