Hehe, JK Simmons at the end of this one is hilarious. One of my favorite endings.

PIG

“I got… the shit.” Lol. Coen Brothers movies are the most quotable. I cried laughing at this film when it came out in theaters.

Śéáń

Oh excellent! I didn't think this did well on the poll. Can't wait to give this a rewatch.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Ay nice! What did we learn?… We learn that Brad Pitt’s an under-utilised comedic talent, George Clooney should never make us a mysterious chair unless we’re keen for the end result, and that the Coens are among the most versatile filmmakers out there. Intolerable Cruelty has a similar tone and may be worth a watch as well if Patrons feel the same? “Have you forgotten Kirshner?” is a line my mates and I whip out all the time from that film haha.

PastaDon

Someone told me one time, a cheeseburger will help a hangover because it'll soak up the leftover alcohol in your system.... Yep, I threw up the whole cheeseburger...

Smooticus

you guys absolutely have to do Miller's Crossing and Barton Fink

Tay Schumaker

God I love this movie. So many hilarious performances and it gets better on repeat viewings

Amar

Frances McDormand is in the movie so you know Simone needed to watch it. I get it lol

Mr. Writhms

George, an entire 14 inch pizza is not that much. A large New York pizza is 18 to 20 inches. You at a small pie. No big deal. You're good. 👍

yaaa but youre forgetting most people dont live the overeating life style of Americans lol. and i say that as one myself. most people in the world dont order a gallon of soda or eat burgers where the bread is donuts or just more meat haha.

Mr. Writhms
>>133594589

Well I'm referring to a special occasion type of eating. Not eating a whole pie daily.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Yeah agreed dude. Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Raising Arizona, Inside Llewelyn Davis. Even Joel Coen’s adaptation of The Tragedy of Macbeth. They’re all a top shelf watch

G P

Hoping you check out: Raising Arizona Miller's Crossing Barton Fink

Kyle Baker

I'm vibrating because I'm so excited for this.

Calvin

Raising Arizona

Andrew Chung

That Brad Pitt coming out of the closet scene has to be one of my favorite Coen brothers moments.

Keerit Thind

As fantastic as Fargo and No Country for Old Men are, the early Coen brothers’ films have a distinct charm and skill. Blood Simple, Miller’s Crossing, and Raising Arizona. Blood Simple especially, on a shoestring budget, it is one of very best neo noir thrillers.

Ginger

Looking at the poster reminds me: You guys mentioned liking the title sequences in "Catch me if you can" and "Monster's Inc." You might want to look up Saul Bass.

Joe

This was fun. If you want more of this type of Coen brothers comedy, y'all should check out "Hail, Caesar!". George Clooney is in that one, too, and Tilda Swinton has two roles as identical twins — not to mention another dozen great actors in the cast.

akaTheBARON

🖤Well that may be the average amount of calories for a pizza but I'm sure it made up for it with a great personality...

BangDroid

J. K. Simmons of Portal 2 fame as Cave Johnson

You must have not have seen a lot of movies to have that strong of an opinion. Either that or you're just looking for attention.

Patrick
>>133594589

It's still over a day's worth of calories and not healthy calories. Nobody sits down and eats a large NY pie by themselves unless you have serious eating problems. I'm from NY and 2 slices is enough to fill up almost everyone. 3 if you're super hungry.

The Critical Drinker has done a review on The Worlds Fastest Indian :)

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

The ensemble cast is strong in this Coens’ outing (Brad Pitt in particular is in top form) but I don’t really revisit this as often as I do their other comedies, where layers keep building with rewatches or when they get straight up cartoonish. Or maybe because any follow up to “No Country for Old Men” was gonna feel like a drop by comparison. I guess I feel like there could have more biting material to be had with the Coens taking the piss out of CIA antics. Regardless I look forward to this rewatch later on and maybe I’ll end up with a different perspective for this flick.

Philipp Roensch

The idea of a comedy played like a serious spy thriller is just brilliant, this is the most hilarious movie to me, a masterpiece. I love all the antics the actors bring, but Brad Pitt especially.

Spacecat44

Don't worry George, at some point all of us have tried to swallow something 14 inches long and it didn't work out well for us.

Odd Thomas

The Coens are very hit and miss for me. This is a miss. Raising Arizona is a better one.

Tay Schumaker

It’s so good. All of the “innocent” are killed, the selfish actors all get rewarded with what they wanted. The stakes seem so high to all involved and cut to the end and all of their lives and their desires are waved away with a gesture by JK Simmons’s character.

Haye Zeus

When Brad Pitt’s goofy grinning face pops out of that closet and what happens happens, I laughed so hard. One of my favorite moments. Poor Brad.

Skyruff

Is it just me or did she say “ ….wraps up this episode of Cinebitch.” Or is it just me?

JusteFlo

"Let's stop all this nonsense and watch this movie" Little did they know, the nonsense was just about to start

Ginge Tomassi

Wait, have you guys reacted to Michael Clayton?!

Jesse Coombs

It's funny, but I was kind of disappointed when I first saw this in the theater. I was already a big Coen Brothers fan and this felt just silly. But! The more I've rewatched it, the more I like it and find it funnier. I also think it's deeper than it seems on the surface, like most of their movies. That being said, maybe I haven't figured out what they are trying to say with this one, but I kind of like that.

Astraeos

You guys are the best, this movie is out there. Glad you guys had such a good time with this one, it's truly hilarious. The entire cast just knocks it outta the park, but especially Brad Pitt.

Same, this one has definitely grown on me. I think if you go in knowing there’s nothing to learn you can just appreciate the silliness. I don’t know if the movie is intending to say anything about the world but watching the rise of Qanon and all “nice” suburban ladies and smooth brained morons who stormed the capital building on January 6th has definitely brought me to a greater appreciation of Linda and Chad.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field
>>133627509

I guess some time away from “Burnt After Reading” made me appreciate it more this time ‘round. Time has also added (or maybe revealed) more of its social satire as well as the political critiques I thought were lacking on my initial watch. Lots of fun to be had and read into this as much as their other comedies. Here’s hoping for either “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” as a great smorgasbord of Coen cuts. Or for a more focused piece, “Inside Llewyn Davis”, by far Oscar Isaac’s best role and another celebration of folk music like with “O Brother Where Art Thou?”.

Jacob King

A fun reaction. Kind of a lesser Coen but they’ve only made one actually bad movie (the Ladykillers) and it definitely has its moments. Brad Pitt is such a terrific comedy actor. Linda is an ironic twist on the femme fatale leading men to their deaths through her selfish actions; a classic femme fatale movie is Double Indemnity, which would be a good reaction at some point as it establishes a lot of the formula for later crime thrillers and is great in its own right. Pizza is good and calories are an extremely reductive measure.

Smooticus

Anyone else believe that in honor of Lou Gossett Jr's passing, Simone and George should watch An Officer and a Gentleman?

Shoobs98

while we're talking about Frances Mcdormand I recommend 3 Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri. one of the best movies of 2017. Frances Mcdormand won her second oscar with sam rockwell winning supporting actor who competed with woody harrelson who was also nominated for the same movie.

Jeff I.
>>133759442

Also can't forget about her in Nomadland! It won McDormand an Oscar and also won the Oscar for Best Picture that year.

Matthew Blackwood
>>133697947

And Watchmen! Just started a rewatch, we’re a third of the way in. He just kept killing his whole life.

Alex Ch

I always thought Clooney running after each liaison was his character’s subconscious running away from the relationships.

Alex Ch
>>133697947

And also, I have to show some love to Iron Eagle purely from nostalgia.

REDR58

Didn’t love this movie nor did I hate it. The characters and dialogue are great, but I found the ending somewhat satisfactory. Most of the characters just disappear before the end and we don’t see what happens to them, rather we are told about them. Kind of anticlimactic. Nice reaction though. Glad you both seemed to like it.

Myles Casey

Quite literally one of the most underrated comedies

George has always been, and will continue to be, my soulful gym manager.
