I love this movie so much, not only does it have a stellar and largely unknown (at the time) cast, but it feels so claustrophobic. Very different in tone, but I also highly highly recommend It Follows. I think that will unlock some new fears for Simone

George...just so you know...the ending that you were like "I would've hated hated it if they ended it there"...that's where they cut it for the American reason and it's the reason everyone insisted on the original ending.

I guess the American ending is considered canon? Because there is a sequel, which isn't nearly as good (different director), but it does tie things up. Another good watch from the same director is Dog Soldiers

Buried was on the list, and the way they react to the cave seen at the claustrophobia will be interesting to see how they react to that movie!

I've been caving a couple of times, but only in very basic, well worn, family-friendly commercial tours with guides and shit. I know at least one of those had a tiny area you had to crawl through. It wasn't as tiny as the one in this movie, but was still small enough that you were brushing against the sides as you wormed through. Not a fan. Juno is the WORST. There's kind of a trope of terrible besties in horror, and I feel like Juno gets the prize. Even without the cheating, it's pretty much entirely her fault that they end up in this situation. If she had told them beforehand what they were getting into and they had the option to say no, it would be different. But she puts everyone at risk just for funsies. I'm pretty sure the husband died in the crash too. It's not emphasized as much as the daughter, but Juno confirms it with "We all lost something in that crash." Which only makes sense if Paul died too.

I haven't done any serious caving, only in more manicured tourist attraction type caves, but I've still done some of this crawling through very tight spaces in the more "advanced" tours of those caves. I wouldn't say I have zero claustrophobia, I still feel that discomfort and fear of getting stuck or something, I think it's just a matter of degrees and for me it isn't severe enough to stop me doing that sort of thing.

Ah, good old dumb as bricks AI. Obviously I'll never blame any creators for censoring as much as they need to, it's just so weird to me that we've now ended up with stricter censorship guidelines than network TV ever had.

yeaah well, network TV only had to follow 1 single government body's guidelines that can be written down to specific words and how many seconds something can occur. YT has to follow what every advertiser generally is okay and not okay with so they have to go a lot wider of a brush stroke.

I mean network TV had to follow/appease advertisers as well, the difference is 1) They were less concerned with preventing complaints and were more reactive than proactive 2) They didn't have crappy AI to do the work for them.
