Breaking Bad: Season 4 - Episode 11 - 13 - Patreon Version

Comments

Fernando Alamán

One thing you might want to consider regarding the scheduling of season 5. Although officially season 5 as a whole consists of 16 episodes, it was split in two parts, 8 episodes each. Part 2 aired one year apart from Part 1, as the other seasons did. Each part has its own character arcs, its own themes, its own pace. For me, it’s very clear that they should be considered different seasons. Therefore, my advice would be that you react to S5 - Part 1. Then take a break, watch Black Mirror and, after that, finish the series reacting to the awesomeness that is S5 - Part 2.

Martin Roca

I slept only 4 hours to be here for the release of "Crawl Space", one of the best episode by far. Breakfast ready, lets start!!

Jeff K

And on that same note, whenever they get to it: the final season of Better Call Saul did the same thing with it being split into two parts (though it was only 13 episodes, not 16).

Justin

No show does tension/panic scenes better than BB. The sound design at the end... that screeching noise... the whole scene is pure, concentrated unnerving anxiety. The dynamic is so remarkable of all the characters clashing at once and Skyler- going from playing peacekeeper for Walt to Marie on the phone. She's like a punching bag getting hit with all of it at once. Walt's laugh makes total sense with the situation he's in. High school chemistry teacher gets cancer, cooks meth then his wife uses the money he made from it and gives it to the man she had an affair with? Many times throughout the show the characters are boxed in in shots by either a door frame or window frame etc. divided by beams or trapped in picture frames. The symbolism in that final shot of Walt laying in the dirt underground- boxed in by the door to the crawl space that he built himself, as if it's saying he’s dug his own grave and he's a dead man walking… You know how when a chicken loses it's head, and it still walks around? When Gus’s head gets blown up, he does his signature reflex & fixes his tie, just how a chicken would. It's even a callback all the way back to 0201 with the two–faced, one–eyed teddy bear from the cold open. Farewell Gus 👋 you were one of the best to ever do it. Gus' death: impressive. Lily of the valley reveal: mind blown 🤯🤯 For the first time in the series the audience gets to feel what it's like to be manipulated by Walter firsthand, successfully, with the exception of the minority who guessed it right most likely when Gus stopped walking towards his car in the parking garage. Also when the detectives are interrogating Jesse over the ricin comment they say the doctors are beginning to think that it was ricin that poisoned Brock. Goes to show just how thorough Heisenberg was with his plan.

Danika Silva

Dexter and Nurse Jackie 💯💯🫶🇨🇦

Jeff K

You had to get breakfast ready, eh? Found Walt Jr.'s burner!

Tay Schumaker

The end of Crawl Space is maybe my favorite ending to any episode of tv. The tension is unbelievable and the acting, the music, the camera movement. And the way it just keeps building. I remember the first time I saw it I just sat there in silence for a long time after it was over

Salleban

For new poll - Mr. Robot and Barry

Jay

Walt freaking out in the crawl space is one of my favourite moments in the whole show. BCS is great although I prefer BB. I'd rather a break from Gilligan once BB is done. The Wire.... Breaking Bad..... you're clearly going for the big boys so gotta be The Sopranos next:)

JayF

The movie Hector was watching in "Crawl Space" was The Bridge on the River Kwai. The actor in it was Alec Guiness and you will both love it when you eventually get to it.

Florian Geyer

Oh nice, of seen it a while ago, but I'm excited of other peoples reaction to it 😁

Florian Geyer

Also throwing Dexter in the ring

Jeff K

And it's a movie referenced numerous times throughout The Wire, since it's McNulty misquoting Alec Guiness's line that gave him his signature, "What the fuck did I do?" line that popped up in various forms each season.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Looking forward to “Black Mirror” next week! Tuesdays will be so unproductive for me for awhile from the looks of it. Hoping you’ll be open to the idea of adding S3 & 4 to that as well. Some fans might say to just stick with the original 2 UK produced seasons but I’d say S3 (and a good chunk of S4) is on par with those.

Senec

Theres a movie that acts as a kind of epilogue to Breaking Bad. You may wanna include "El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie" as a capper to the series. Sorry if this has already been mentioned before, just dotting the T's and crossing the I's.

Hammy

Breaking Bad has 6 seasons, in your comments you seemed to think Season 5 is the last. Although, season 6 only has 8 episodes.

LazyArtist

Yeah, season 5 is... Well, you'll see. You probably should prepare your family and friends for your change in personality after watching it.

lovemoose

If better call saul wins the poll I will be so excited!!!! 😀

miniature

no officially its 5, you can see the episode / season listing on wikipedia. its just season 5 was released in 2 parts, 8 each part and ppl call the second half season 6 at the time. its officially categorized as 1 season with 16 episodes.

Tucci

Time to start S4, LOL. I've been waiting just to binge.

Dwight Scarn

I reccomend Dexter, Interview with the Vampire amc, or The Sandman!!!

8bitAndy

Season 5 I think many would agree is the weakest of the seasons (thank you in advance, avid supporters of the show, for making your objections heard below) but it does the job of wrapping the series. I'm curious to see your reactions to the finale.

Angzarr

REQUEST / SUGGESTION for Season 5 After you watch the finale, I suggest taking a couple days to decompress / process, and then do a SECOND reaction to the pilot. I think it would be really interesting to see your reactions to seeing the contrast. I ended up watching the pilot soon after the finale when it originally aired, and it was really amazing. It wasn't until I saw the pilot again I truly appreciated what the show achieved, taking Walt from where he started to where he ended up, with each step along the way feeling natural. EDIT TO ADD: A second, smaller suggestion: Before you react to S5, react to the "Ozymandias - As Read by Bryan Cranston: Breaking Bad AMC promo. It's only about a minute, and it'd make a good teaser before you release your S5 Patreon reactions and S5 YT cut videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3dpghfRBHE

Superpotroast

It definitely has good and bad episodes, but imo, it doesn't get really mediocre until the most recent 2 seasons that have come out under Netflix..Though I did enjoy the 'movie'..

Deadly Ramon

Don't forget the Netflix exclusive film, El Camino, which I think should be watched before Better Call Saul. Both are part of the Breaking Bad universe.

JokerDanny

please add Gotham to the long tv polls.

Cory Garron

Is "The Leftovers" on your radar? I think it would fit a short show, 3 seasons and 28 episodes. It's up there with The Wire for my favourite shows.

Charlotte Drolet

No one seems ever to realize that Jane might not have died if Walt never went there. Jane was on her side in case she threw up. It was Walt shaking Jesse that made Jane end up on her back. Then she threw up and choked to death off her vomit. She didn't die from ODing.

Kozmo

As someone who loves Better Call Saul, think its wiser to take a break from Breaking Bad universe after this show and try something brand new for long form tv show.

NareikAC

Well if you put it like that then she wouldnt of died if she never injected heroin in the first place.

Silje

Your beautiful purring kitty cat baby is delightfully distracting Simone ❤️❤️❤️

Kevin

I definitely think you should do Better Call Saul. But other shows to include should be Succession (4 seasons and its over) and Severance (only 1 season so far). And Andor is also amazing, 1 season so far, 2nd and final one coming later this year...or next year? Not sure.

Philipp Roensch

Happy to join the Black Mirror rewatch, have not seen the last season yet and been meaning to do so, all in good time :) Fine to switch it up before Better Call Saul as well, it will probably get voted a lot. Let's go into this BB finale though, so goood. After the episodes: Yay (question mark?) Walter won, and he only needed to poison a child and blow up a retirement home :D. This is clearly the full on villainy and manipulator phase of Walter, but I find Jesse's turn back to him as tragic as believable. You are right, a lot of loose ends are tied up, we have not heard from Mike in a while, but you might just spot more in the edit.

Late Kate

Throwing Sopranos suggestion in again for next poll since I don't see it enough.

Vwlss Nvwls

I would think it would be difficult for a normal person to reach the state of true hysterical laughter like Walt had. You would need a universe of bad luck for that.

Elbinho

George said anecdote instead of antidote? That's a funny little story, you know

UNC

BCS with Succession in between Seasons would be an elite combo!

UNC

Love Succession, need more reactions to the series!

Scott G

I don't know if you guys would ever consider doing a half hour sitcom, but I just finished Curb Your Enthusiasm and, assuming you've both seen Seinfeld and never watched Curb (a big if), I think it would go over really well.

Jay

I've never seen an episode of Seinfeld, but I think Curb is one of the funniest shows ever made.

Lyle Morgan

Black Mirror is a great choice. Self-contained episodes and tons of thought provoking discussions will ensue.

BangDroid

Gus's sixth sense for danger may be explained by a similar phenomena to how some people have reported intense intuitive feelings of flight around psychopaths. It's hard for anyone to understand who hasn't encountered a psychopath but It is believed that some people have developed this intuition as an extension to self preservation. I propose Gus's intuition is the other side of the same coin; you don't really understand why you're feeling this but something in you tells you to flee.

Vwlss Nvwls

When I heard about this show coming out, I could not understand how people making meth would make a compelling series. So I initially did not watch it. However, I kept seeing the last couple minutes of each episode on recordings of other shows I was watching. I usually just fast forward to my show, but the final episode of this season, with Gus walking out and half his face gone, finally made me say "okay, I have to see what the hell leads up to this". It was that moment that I caught up with the 4 seasons, and ended up watching season 5 live. Right after the final episode of season 5, I watched the whole series again. Since then, and including this watch along, I have watched this series completely five times. :D

BangDroid

I'm a BCS freak but on the other had I'm dying to watch The Sopranos again!

Vwlss Nvwls

Jane may not have died if Walt had not showed up that night. It was Walt trying to wake Jesse that made her roll onto her back, thus allowing her to choke like she did. If she had stayed on her side she would not have been as likely to choke.

Alexrandom

Hope you guys do "the leftovers"or "Watchmen"one day. They really are fantastic and not many people saw them. I'd also recommend "lost", my favourite show with "the wire"but it's a bit long and imperfect. Many people misunderstood it sadly. And community too ! You guys would love it. How could I forget. It's a bit of a slow start but it's really wonderful. Season 3(or 4 can't remember) is also a bit of a dip but it's worth it in the end.

G P

Suggesting Fawlty Towers between BB and BCS - hilarious

Brad Lowry

"Three Days of the Condor" — put that film on your list! Not big on pyrotechnics and exponentially fewer bullets fired, but IMHO it is a tight action spy flick.

Actuarial Lurker

George- Gus is gay. The guy who Hector killed was Gus' lover and business partner and a chemist who he spend years grooming through grad school

JokerDanny

Mike is still in that makeshift hospital, he could be the antagonist, I genuinely don't know by the way, I'm watching for the first time with you guys,

E. D.

Hm. People who are not BB fans are probably not Better Call Saul fans either. So, if I wanted to do a long show poll AND wanted to be "fair to everyone who isnt BB fan" I´d probably not put Better Call Saul on a poll (yet) because it will most likely win the poll. But, I don´t know, just my two cents.

Amir Eftekhar

where do you get your SA merchs?

Andrew Ramos

As someone who considers BCS to be even better than BB, I think it's a good idea to watch it immediately after BB and El Camino.

Methampheminist

it was an interesting creative choice to have Gus purr throughout that chapel scene

E. D.

Yeah, BCS in a future poll would be better IMO. I‘d prefer Ozark, Sopranos, Dexter or something else.. or Nurse Jackie bc then we have a little pause from all the cartel crime worlds (which I love watching)

Jerry C

I know this is rare, but there is one major thing wrong with the beginning of episode 11. If Gus and Mike are both unconscious, who made the phone call to the medical thing... and who gave Jesse the directions to get there?

Brad Lowry

For Simone... and anyone else that loves dogs like she and I do. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.npr.org/transcripts/136497064&ved=2ahUKEwjdk52a0bWFAxWx4ckDHTCIAmUQFnoECBYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3UEM49GEorPqNavZwWgsQC [or just search "Fresh Air John Bradshaw"] This is a link to an amazing episode of an amazing show interviewing an amazing man. John Bradshow author of "Dog Sense". It is very scientific and exacting, but you can tell how much John Bradshaw loves dogs beyond his career studying and training them. It is heartwarming and facinating. And it answers Simone's question about "how the drug sniffing dogs get trained or work". PLEASE NOTE: I bought the book right after I listened to this when it first came out, and it is indeed an amazing book... BUT unlike the charming likable conversational interview, the book reads like a Text Book. It is dense and scientific. But with those caveats, I still recommend it.

Kozmo

Can y’all put White Lotus on the poll it’s very short, a lot more light hearted and comedic than Breaking Bad, and it’s different type of show for you guys to react too

shaneth138

They all have cellphones do they not? Mike could've called in the car and told Jesse how to get there. Not major at all.

Kozmo

I’m very excited that they get the chance to react Black Mirror not sure they’ve reacted to British television before. Also I think S3/S4 are probably the best seasons

Honey Hermsen

George: that's straight up evil. also George: who is gonna be the antagonist? Connect the dots, man

MattyWolf

Would love to see you guys react to Person of Interest one day. I think George in particular would love it. Full of twists and turns!

Glass (+ the Machines of God)

I love how when you watch the show the first time you totally believe Walt's story about how Gus must've poisoned Brock without question, and then the end of the next episode it's like fuck.

TGrimace

The speculation about what happened to Brock in the discussion before the last episode started was just amazing. It was so entertaining to listen to. And, for the first time that I can EVER remember, Simone absolutely nailed it. Her 'theory 3' was so dead on, that I was listening with my mouth open. usually her guesses are so wild and barely plausible, that they're just fun to listen to. But this time she hit every point. It was simply amazing. So impressive.

Kevin

Yes, they should definitely make El Camino a movie they watch during the Black Mirror run.

Glass (+ the Machines of God)

if Walt wasn't there, Jane wouldn't have died that night. Jane wasn't on her back until Walt tried to shake Jesse awake. She wouldn't have choked on her vomit. She probably would have died eventually on her own accord, sure, but not on that night.

Will Sofer

Um, no? They will definitely watch it, at some point. I don’t think it needs to be right away. I mean no offense, but I’d rather see something else; I’m not really up for constant and consecutive Breaking Bad-related content. Much as I love the writing.

JJ

An antagonist is simply whoever is against the protagonist, aka the main character. It has nothing to do with good or evil.

Dragonhunter

Really hoping for Mr. Robot or Barry. Better Call Saul can wait a bit, but you should watch the movie after season 5 amd before better call saul.

Brad Lowry

I'm learning watching you watch what I've already watched. Thanks! As you wrap up Season 4 Episode Episode 13, you are so right about Walt poisoning Brock. But in order for the plan to work Walt also has to remove the Ricin Cigarette from Jessie's Pack, right?

Tay Schumaker

Man binging Black Mirror is going to be rough. Some of them fucked me up for a few days

samuel Jakob

Well this was a great reaction to the S4 finale, it would be nice if u wouldnt inclue BCS in the poll because the channel probably has an influx of BB fans rn so there is almost no way that show isnt gonna win, and even tho I love BCS I wouldnt mind something else and then picking it up after the next show is over. :D Anyway cant wait for S5!

Dimitri

I really hope you guys watch Ash vs Evil Dead sometime. It's only 3 season, 30 half hour episodes in total. It's hilarious and I think it would do good on Youtube as well.

Brad Lowry

I just noticed... and I might be crazy... But when Walt went to the Laundry to rescue Jesse... Right after Walt shot the henchman that was forcing Jesse to Cook that he walked toward Jesse with his hand to his side and he very inconspicuously dropped the gun.... EXACTLY as both Clamenza and Sonny told Michael to do after killing Sollozzo and McCluskey in the Restaurant. I think that might be a little Easter Egg Homage to the Godfather by Vince Gilligan – pretty sure he both wrote and directed this episode!

The scent of film and TV is all over this RUM. Smells like freaking tee ah WANNA

🖤I hope the poll has The Boys???? I mean I'd vote for it alongside Better Caul Saul, that would likely win anyway (and honestly here for it if it does) ... It would just keep my hope alive for potentially continuing the series possibly down the road. (Not sure if the Boys counts as a big show or not tho). I highly recommend the Breaking Bad movie, but it sounds like you two are already DTF for it. The beauty of how the movie plays is you could watch it after the finale and treat it like another long episode or just treat it like a usual movie reaction upload. Works either way.

Travis H

Can’t wait to watch later. “Face Off” is one of my favorite episode titles of any tv series just for the double meaning. I’ve posted this a couple times already, but please do not leave the 2 episodes a week schedule for the final season of Breaking Bad! The plot of the final season works perfectly with the 2 episode schedule, and there are multiple eps that benefit from being played together, leaving that schedule may make certain things less powerful!

Dan

You lucky dog - I picked up the show between season 3 and 4, panicking when I realized Season 4 wasn't out yet. I was driving around town, hoping it was on Best Buy's shelves somewhere because I expected Netflix to just be out of date with their third party licenses. I was pretty upset when it finally set in that Jesse shooting Gale was the last I was going to see of the show for another 8 months.

E. D.

the black museum episode is fucked up, the metalhead episode on the other hand is kinda cool but still creepy dystopian shit

Dan

Yeah, well, people who aren't BB fans are wrong! /s ^_^ I kid, I kid!

Dan

Yeah, it was fun watching them both flesh out a 3-tier succession of probabilities, with me hoping that they wouldn't both talk each other into guessing correctly and ruin the surprise. Though I think they did both tend to miss the part where -- if Gus had done it, as Walt proposed -- it would have been because Gus wanted to turn Jesse against Walt, not scare Jesse into (continuing) to work for Gus. Walt and Gus had both been trying to turn Jesse, Walt just managed to succeed with a gamble at the end.

Dan

Yeah, you can see Huell pickpocket Jesse in Saul's office in the prior episode. He pats Jesse down, and when he lets up, he backs off and only briefly sticks his left hand into his jacket pocket, pulling his empty hand back out. They literally played us in front of our eyes. And Jesse was right about everything - the only reason we don't trust his assessment is because he thinks it's because Walt is trying to hurt him. We, as the audience, know that Walt has pulled for Jesse many times, thinking of him as his own son (literally calling his own son by Jesse's name). So it's great misdirection - if we can't trust Jesse's assessment of Walt, surely the rest of his theory is incorrect, right? And so we reject the details we just heard about Jesse switching the packs that day and Huell lifting the new pack.

Joey Johansen

actually excited to rewatch black mirror! cool

TechPriest

Tossing in another recommendation to see Dexter on the polls. It isn't as consistently good across seasons as Breaking Bad, but the first several are quite good. Which works well here since we vote season by season. There's some similar themes between the two shows, though the specifics are dramatically different.

Vig

OMG YES!!! I had no idea you were going to watch Black Mirror!!! That's truly amazing guys. You'll love it.

Ginger

That last shot of the last episode is so PERFECT. Love this show!

Zinphad

I was surprised nobody made a connection between the oranges falling on Ted and the Godfather.

Zinphad

Joining in on requesting Mr Robot be in consideration for a big show watch.

Dan Holmes

Alright "Ted Poisoned Brock" is the hottest BrBa take I've heard in years lol

Patrick

G&S have you guys already seen season 1 of House of the Dragon? Although I guess it wouldn't be fair to those who don't have HBO.

Raymond Torres

"Noo, they cant put a bomb in an old folks home"

Joe Lazarus

DEXTER AND BETTER CALL SAUL

temsik28

Better Call Saul, Dark, or Mr Robot. Epic, Trippy AF, and Trippy AF.

Aiden

It took me way too long to realize that the reason why Gus tells hector to look at him is because the way hector stared into Gus’s eyes after killing is friend

Rayna & Mike Sitter

You should actually catch El Camino before you hit Saul, which you know you're going to want to do because it's just as good, arguably better.

Dragonhunter

I was thinking it was because Hector was pushing Gus down besides his friends body and said look at him.

Muir Lyman

Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Better Call Saul

Patrick

I thought Walt said that ricin takes a few days to a week to kick in, but it kicked in later the same day. Maybe it's just because it's a kid? Edit : Never mind, just finished the finale.

Dragonhunter

After episode 13 it makes way more sense why he stopped. He knew Walt was still out there, Jesse just told him that Brock was poisoned, Gus knows he didn't poison him. So he probably thought that timing of him being poisoned and being forced to visit the hospital because Jesse wants to speak to him personally seemed odd.

REDR58

I would recommend you guys watch Twin Peaks just to get some David Lynch insanity and amazement in your lives, but maybe that won’t be too popular here.

REDR58

I like it more and more every time I see it. Max von Sydow plays such a cool character and… I can’t say anymore!

REDR58

Black Mirror Black Mirror Black Mirror, that’s great and all, but how about some “Orphan Black” so they can see how amazing Tatiana Maslany is!

Chris B

Vince loves using subtle things from The Godfather. He used the oranges falling around on the ground right after Ted slammed his head into the table.

Meggie Doodles

I THOUGHT I recognized that song that played right before Hector left the car to go talk to Salamanca! It's a rearrangement of the opening song for the Netflix show Dark... Which you two should absolutely watch! I'd love to see you react to such a twisty scifi mystery, and it's only 3 seasons total.

Sheens

You 100% must watch El Camino before starting Better Call Saul. But please God watch Mr Robot first

Will Sofer

Borderline, but I’d count that as short. I’ve never seen it, but I know a lot of people love it.

JBK405

The movie on the TV is "The Bridge on the River Kwai". I HEAVILY recommend it. It's one of the movies that is often held up as one of the Greatest Films Of All Time, like "The Godfather" or "The Shawshank Redemption". I'm sure this point has been repeated ad nauseam, but Walt's presence in Jesse's apartment was a contributing factor to Jane's death. She was sleeping on her side when he showed up, and previously had been shown telling Jesse to make sure he was on his side specifically in case he started throwing up. She only rolled onto her back when Walt started shaking Jesse and moving him around. So though he wasn't the only factor, he did take an ACTIVE part in her death. Something I keep coming back to every time you wonder about the next "bad guy" is the realization that Jesse had at the start of season three when he got out of rehab: HE (And therefore also Walt) is the bad guy. For all the sympathy we feel, and for all the comparative worse-ness of their enemies, they're still Bad enough all on their own. They make drugs that they know are toxic, they sell them to people they know are desperate and vulnerable, and they kill innocent (well, "innocent") people in their own defense. It's definitely possible to be worse than them, but that doesn't undo their own status. With regards to continuing in "Better Call Saul" afterwards, I'll say this: I like "Breaking Bad", but I do not consider it to be One Of The Best Shows Of All Time. I give it a "pretty good" rating, with occasional bumps up to "Very Good". However, to me BCS IS one of the Greatest Shows Of All Time. Every accolade that people throw on BB, I double for BCS.

Jesse Coombs

The movie hector is watching in episode 11 is "The Bridge on the River Kwai". It's directed by David Lean (Lawrence of Arabia) and also stars Alec Guinness. It's great, and you guys should watch it when you feel like an epic war movie.

JBK405

Oh, and about how many times you mention "ricin", this series is actually credited with popularizing knowledge of ricin amongst the general public. The Wikipedia page for ricin even has a section in "Popular Culture" that notes real-life crimes inspire by its inclusion here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricin#In_popular_culture

Grand Moff Slackin'

George has always been, and will continue to be, above my radar.

An Inanimate Fucking Object

I split my head open and started cracking up maniacally at how much blood there was 😬 it happens

Ricardo Alanis

I am sooo excited for Black Mirror. I will clear my schedule for those reactions and hope you get hooked for the later seasons because so far, for me personally, they are all excellent.

ChickensAreRacist

As far as Black Mirror goes, I just want Simone to see the San Junipero episode. A reaction would be great as always, but even if not… just see it Simone. You’ll enjoy it (I think).

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

“Twin Peaks” is low key the reason TV started to get to the caliber of craft and writing we all enjoy today. Sure earlier shows like “Star Trek”, “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour” and “The Twilight Zone” were excellent as well but I mean escaping the episodic/anthology headspace and turning it into long form content with characters and settings that grow and develop as the show goes on.

George Amberson

I don’t know that it only being 3 seasons qualifies it as a “long” show, and I doubt it would win a poll, but I hope The Leftovers gets some consideration. Very excited for Black Mirror!!

james repka

Walt's story about Gus poisoning Brock sounds incredibly reasonable when he lays it out to Jesse. After all, what would Walt have to gain from poisoning Brock? If Gus did it it makes logical sense, in that Jesse would blame Walt and allow Gus to kill him. Simone got to the point right away: Jesse wouldn't talk to Walt and Walt couldn't get near him anyway. Poisoning Brock got Jesse to come to him so that he could manipulate him. It was a risky plan obviously, but it worked perfectly. It never ceases to amaze me how the seasons go through this slow build-up of tension and close off with several mind-blowing episodes at the end. Season 2's massive air disaster, paired with Skylar walking out on Walt ends up looking fairly pedestrian when we see Walt running down and killing the two drug dealers, then Jesse killing Gail in the last two episodes of season 3. And that is topped by the last few episodes in season 4, with Gus taking out the cartel bosses, Brock's poisoning, Jesse's confrontation with Walt, and the killing of Gus at the end (and the reveal that Walt was behind the whole thing). Season 5 continues the trend with several amazing stand-alone episodes, including one that many critics have called the greatest single episode ever produced.

Jeff I.

Yeah, I really hope they see Season 3 of Black Mirror eventually. It's only 6 episodes and 4 of them are generally considered among the best in the series by most fans (San Junipero being one of them).

An Inanimate Fucking Object

Would love to see Dark in a poll. Won’t win but it’s potentially the most finely crafted TV show of the past decade

Den Radar Ryan

FYI audiophiles: when you listen to this with headphones, you can hear Simone's cat purring at the 41 mark of episode 12. Lol it seriously took me a few minutes to figure where the sound was coming from. 🤣

Den Radar Ryan

Black Mirror is great. Gets better with every new season. A mondern-era, tech oriented version of 'The Twilight Zone'. 📺👀📼

CD

Wow; Dexter I get. It's supposed to be very good, and have a b r o a d appeal. But Nurse Jackie? I thought I was the only person, who seemed to like it...lol. Next...you'll be nominating United States of Tara!

CD

UGH; no offense. But am I the only one who can't stand Jenn Coolidge?

Kenneth thomas

Can't wait to see their reaction when they find out all their guesses about Season 5 are wrong...and it's actually Walt vs. Zombie Ted

Śéáń

The music played as they leave the lab in the finale is by Rodrigo y Gabriela, a really good guitar duo who also play the song in the first episode when Walt watches Jessie escape through the window during the raid. Really catchy style, they mostly do acoustic guitar instrumental stuff. Their self-titled 2006 album has the tracks featurd in the show. They've a really interesting story too, they travelled from Mexico to Ireland without a word of English and were discovered while busking on the street. A few years later they were playing for Obama at the White House.

Tom M

RIP Gus. Great villain. I’ve seen BB 4x now counting rewatch with George and Simone. So good. Looking forward to final season. BCS is legitimately excellent independent of it being a spinoff of a great show. I’d be happy with it as the next long show. If they stray from crime, how about an espionage show like Americans or Homeland?

Bailey Tillinghast

Don't know if you are open to reacting to documentaries, but I would recommend you two react to Grizzly Man by Werner Herzog. If not, Werner Herzog has made other excellent films that are not documentaries. I would recommend Fitzcarraldo (1982) or Aguirre, The Wrath of God (1972).

The flower pot/ gun scene: George: Oh, I remember what I wanted to say now. Me: Nooo! Not now, George! But, that was fun watching your faces change with the realization. 👍😁

I absolutely love that the most important reveal of the season comes at literally the last second

I think the implication that the show was trying to say was that Gus knows everything and perhaps Jesse has been bugged this whole time and Gus has been playing a long game or that he just found out by spying on Walter or any other of his ways. It was setup that Gus knows everything and is always one step ahead, so much so that it seems like he has a godlike understand of the world at times. Not that Tyrus in that moment decided to search him randomly, and found it, but that they knew about the poison since the very beginning of the plot between Jesse and Walt, and that day was the day that they went with a plan to poison Brock in order to frame Walt. I don't think they meant that Gus was trying to scare Jesse, but that Gus came up with a plot to make Jesse turn on Walt without him even realizing he was doing Gus's bidding all along. Thats why Walt was laughing at the irony of letting his own hitman into his house willingly, and that Gus played them royally. The episode in Mexico showed what lengths Gus would go to get what he wanted. At least thats how I understood it from watching it myself! haha Doesn't matter anyways since you already seen the whole season but I feel like that moment needed some explanation. Whenever I saw the show for the first time it seemed like it was the only answer that made sense at the time before we got the final reveal of what actually happened! I knew Walt to be evil but at this point in the show I was still very sure he would never hurt a kid. Gus seemed like he had no limits at all.

I've noticed this in a few previous episodes as well. I forget the specific scene, but I think there was one where there's a quiet moment in the show where it really seems like Hank Schrader starts purring for no reason. An odd acting choice for Dean Norris, but... It sort of worked.

You guys misunderstood what Walt was saying in episode 12. He implied Gus knew about the ricin from the start. It was created in his lab, and he could've bugged them talking about it. Walt was not saying that Gus found it on accident. Also his motivation would've been to trick Jesse into thinking it was Walt, not scare him. Not that it really matters, since you know the real truth now.

Do you understand the connotations of the word "grooming"?

Its not true that Jane would have died if Walt was not there. Walt was frantically trying to get Jesse to wake up and this commotion caused Jane to roll over into an unsafe sleeping position (on her back). She was original y on her side before Walt arrived.

Kudos to Simone for suspecting Walt. I couldn't stand him since he turned down the money from his old business partners and this episode sealed the deal. Walt is evil.

Between Sky and Ted, Ted is the smart one. It’s funny watching you two get triggered by him so much more than almost anyone in the show when all he really did was say “im not gonna use your illegal money to fix my crime.” So you’re made he grew as a person? It seems like you’re more annoyed that he isn’t helping Sky get out of her problem than you are mad that he is actually doing something wrong.

Sometimes it might not seem like it, but Episode 12 shows perfectly how fucking amazing Walt is at lying. He sounds like a bumbling fool when it doesn't matter much, so everyone thinks he sucks at lying. But when it's important, he puts effort in and you would never be able to tell.
