A great collab for a great movie

Jacob King

Ha, I watched Furiosa today. I know he only wrote this one but George Miller is the best to ever do it. Baa Ram Ewe.

Fernando Alamán

Such nice extra content. Thanks! Haven't seen it in so many years, but I remember loving it. Let's rewatch it with you three.

Patrick

Wow what a random co-lab, I love it! I've seen a bunch of her reactions. She has such a great accent. Hope you guys enjoy the movie :-)

Alexander Brown

Woohoo, Australian rep! This movie was filmed in the Southern Highlands, a lovely bit of country.

Josip Buretić

Wooooooow so awesome to see you all together ❤️💙❤️ much love from my vacation!! I am in my home country Croatia

lovemoose

Omg I loooove this movie!!!!

Jesse Coombs

Oh, I'm excited to see this pop up what a nice surprise. Babe is great, but I adore "Babe: Pig in the City" even more. It's my favorite movie by George Miller, and yes I'm including Fury Road when I say that.

MrLoall

just to give you a heads up, but your counter is going to fast

Michael

Babe is a BRILLIANT film

Chase Schleich

This movie freaks me out. I still don't know how they got that pig to talk like that.

sarCC

I highly recommend Babe: Pig In The City. It's so cool and weird and funny. Blows this one out of the water, in my opinion.

REDR58

It was easier to get the pig to talk than Rooster. Something about beaks and no lips.

Kinokind

I'm sure someone will mention this, but the theme is from Camille Saint Saen's sixth symphony (The Organ Symphony). It was the perfect choice. Also, it's interesting that they never say where the farm is located. You'd think it was in Europe or somewhere, but we know it's in Australia, or thereabouts, because it's green and warm when they celebrate Christmas. But Hogget's accent almost has a touch of the north of England in it. I suspect the ambiguity was intentional.

That was great... Saw it when I was a kid. Had no idea it would be this good as an adult... Thought it would be one of those movies we only watched because it was the 90s, and we only had 3 channels

MaggiLou152

I made the mistake once of saying “That’ll do pig” to my mom. It didn’t go well.

Opti_Frog

I unabashedly love this movie, and this reaction was an absolute treat.

jmundt33a

A deserving Best Picture nominee for real.

Brandon Meng

I was all set up to watch Breaking Bad episodes but seeing this posted, one of my favorite movies ever, has completely rearranged my night.

nate coleman

I Love Babe So Much! Top 10 Childhood movies for sure.

WastedPo

Babe is a legitimately great movie. If I recall, it was even nominated for a couple Oscars. Wonderful collab with Mary Cherry. You should visit Australia for an in-person reaction, and while you're there you could all visit the Babe shooting locations.

Naturekitty5309

That was so much fun, great reaction. A few years ago my older sister and her husband were visiting and we decided to watch a movie, they are not big movie people. This is the movie I showed them. They absolutely loved it too.

Patrick

Where is this suppose to take place? I assumed England, but there's so many different accents.

REDR58

According to IMDb: “A mish-mash of rural England, Australia and the United States. It was filmed in Robertson, New South Wales, Australia, but the Hoggett farm was a set, torn down after filming completed. It was based on a novel set in the English West Country. King-Smith took inspiration from Boyd Farm, located in south Gloucestershire, when he wrote the book. A production decision was taken early on not to locate the film in any specific country or area, and the use of accents reflects this. The actors mostly use their own accents which are a mixture of American, Australian and British. James Cromwell mentioned re-recording the dialog several times to get the correct mix. The production design similarly mixes images of American, Australian and British small farm rural life.” https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0112431/faq/#

“miniature” or “toy” pigs are not a real thing. While smaller than other pigs they still get to be over 100 pounds so bigger than many dogs.

Fireworks at Christmas? How unsettlingly odd…

WastedPo

As someone living in New England, I'm more thrown by the summer weather at Christmas.

I was going to post something when one of the comments were that it "sounded like classical music" -- and I was over here going, "IT IS!" (in the best way). It's such a beautiful piece and was perfectly adapted here for the score.

So absolutely thrilled that you reacted with Mary to one of my all-time favorite movies! BABE is such a deep and meaningful movie -- it's just gotten better as the years have gone by. The message of kindness, listening, and humane treatment of animals is, if anything, more powerful today than ever. Trivia: George Miller has always been super environmentally focused in his films and it is especially notable here and in HAPPY FEET (for which Miller won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature), but also was a visible subtext in all the MAD MAX films. Meanwhile BABE was nominated for SEVEN Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Adapted Screenplay (George Miller & Chris Noonan) and Best Supporting Actor (the wonderful James Cromwell), and it won for Best Visual Effects. Cromwell went vegan and still is. My favorite thing about the movie is that it is willing to go dark -- the opening is absolutely heartbreaking (and this was way before the brutality of factory farming was even talked about yet), and what also gets me is the animals constantly trying to figure out just what the humans want or mean. That's why the revelation is so terrible for Babe in the end -- he loves Farmer Hoggett and knows the farmer cares about him -- it's a genuinely awful moment. What's really sweet and funny is -- when you rewatch the movie -- the opening credits I always assume are of the Hoggett house celebrating BABE (and pigs) because Babe has made their fortune. Which is also why the music is so joyful, etc. Then we go to the baby pig picture on the mantel and the flashback begins, etc. Also, Cromwell singing and dancing to save the life of his beloved pig is one of my favorite moments in film, forever. Cheers to all!

I think I only saw this in cinema when it came out, several lifetimes ago. I felt like a kid again watching with you, loved this reaction so much!

Eric J Watkins

So you guys obviously need to watch Charlotte's Web, pleeeeeaaaassseeee.......

Rupert Purcat

I think watched the you tube version of you're react a while ago, but really enjoyed seeing the full reaction with Simone and George. Just what I needed this afternoon. Please do another reaction with those 2 wacky Canadians, I would like another Aussie animal movie Red Dog (2011). Cheers
