American Wedding (2003) and American Reunion (2012) are worth watching, which is astonishing to me. Also I would love to hear what George has to say about the unrated cut of The Girl Next Door (2004).

Haha this movie won Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards for Jim and Stifler’s liplock and is still my favourite award win from this era. Fun movie to come back to. Also agreed that American Pie: The Wedding as it was called Down Under is well worth checking out too! Reunion ties things up nicely as well and was made by the Harold and Kumar, later Cobra Kai creators

I personally think you should watch American Wedding next (probably my favorite of the series) obviously, and then skip right to American Reunion. And then watch the other ones (that don't include the main cast) in the future if you want. I think they're ok movies but not as good as the main ones for sure

Just finished the movie and if I had to guess the porn VHS boxes are larger so they can be differentiated when being rented at regular video stores.

Back in the day the porn boxes were big to differentiate them at a glance from standard VHS. Lots of empty space. They would also often come with extras like you guessed.

Ignore all those American ---- spin offs. The only real sequels are Wedding and Reunion. All those others are straight to DVD B-movies just trying to make more money off the name American Pie. They use Eugene Levy (Jim's dad) to give them a connection to the main series, but no one really considers them part of the franchise. He does have a much bigger role in some of those films though since he is the biggest name so if you like Jim's dad, you could give them a watch, just don't assume you're getting the same quality as the main films.

this movie has one of my fav comedic scenes and uses of music ever in a movie..........the super glue scene with alien ant farm smooth criminal cover is amazing............laughed in the theater, laugh every time I see it.............

Rumors are they're currently working on a 5th mainline American Pie film with the original cast. It's been over 10 years since the last one so we'll see if it ends up getting made or not.

George the actor's name is John Cho 15:30 Simone, that's suppose to be Lake Michigan which really does look like that in real life. But you're right, it is the Pacific Ocean. The whole movie was filmed in Southern California.

Also, many VHS production labels--and not just porn--used larger boxes to make their product stand out on rental shelves. There was no "standard" size until most of the smaller VHS production/authoring companies went out of business, leaving mostly the big studios who authored and produced their own tapes in-house, who used the more "standard" smaller boxes to cut down on material costs. Yeah, I spent too many years working, managing, and wandering the aisles of video stores, but I sure do miss them.

I don't know where the beach scenes were filmed. It is supposed to be Lake Michigan, which certainly looks like an ocean from the beach.

Your FMK game at the beginning is making me uncomfortable... just a little bit. Specifically the non-people options. Also - Simone: "For sure fucking Cathrine Haan" My Google home: "Indeed" I have no idea why, it's just what happened. Also also: I don't know why but porn used to come in stupidly large boxes, I never bought them but I saw them in the shop and that's how big they were. I assume it was an attempt to grab people's attention.

To confirm what others said, porn boxes were bigger so you could tell at a glance it wasn't a regular VHS tape. Helped when renting or selling to know if you needed to check ID for age. Way back in the day I worked in a hobby shop that sold pretty much everything (Comics, trading cards, etc.). When I advanced enough to be put in charge of some sections, I was given control of the Porn and Beanie Babies sections. This was the reason I was told the porn boxes were bigger than our regular VHS tapes.

The way I see it, the main movies grow and mature along with their audience. The side movies are all stuck in the past, trying to hold onto the immaturity that the first movie thrived in even though the rest of us have grown along with the main cast.

Had a VERY fun time watching this with you both! This movie's such a great one for laughs and smiles. :) So much of this is over the top but it's all worth it. I wasn't a huge fan of the sequels beyond this but I'd be down to watch if they won polls. :)
