No Sync Required Version: https://cinebingers.ca/fDJk9JMPM7 - For Patreon tier "Bingers on The Wall" or higher.

Hi folks, it appears that the version we watched is an Australian version that makes it impossible to sync with the US version. So as a temporary solution here is an alternative, curtesy of olly.enn: https://we.tl/t-JgHSaCdhyM this should sync up with 23.976Hz versions as its our reaction slowed down to 95.9%.

The link will be accessible for 1 week. After which it will be removed. Sorry about the mix up and complications!

The Babadook - Patreon Version

Comments

djKENTO

5am nightmare time! LET’S GOOOOOOO! The Babadook, a gay icon. Missed opportunity for pride but a month late is fine.

djKENTO

Well this won’t sync. It’s the 50hz Aussie blu-ray rip. Really bummed. George please be careful about where you’re sourcing stuff.

Itbewhatitbe

? works fine for me. just get the version theyre watching. it makes much more sense than for them to match every possible variant all of us might watch.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

This was shot in my state/town and I still drive past the house they used for external shots every weekend. And yup - Essie Davis gives one of the best performances in Aussie film, without a doubt. Thumbnail winner for me personally is Tommy Boy - literally cracked up for a good thirty seconds on first pass. Also maybe do a tournament knockout style system for groups of thumbnails to be voted on until a winner’s picked?🤷🏻‍♂️

JediLounger

The YIFY/YTS version works. For those who know...

Shonnicus

Hate to be that person but sync for me is bad. Watching USA Netflix version. Personally I never had a problem or this bad for sync. It sync is off within seconds I'm fine watching YT version. No Drama here folks.

Ph4ZeD

I normally torrent a couple of different versions for each film but yeah this unwatchable with the first one I downloaded

Odd Thomas

Anyone know if the UK blu-ray syncs?

Sam

I’m surprised you didn’t notice it when you saw all the toilets flushing counter clockwise in the movie.

Shonnicus

Thanks George and Simone for finding a solution to the sync problem. Great channel that you found a good and fast solution.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Okay for sure, the thumbnails most memorable to me have been: Godzilla Minus One Kill Bill 1 & 2 IT Chapter One Wizard of Oz Dungeons and Dragons Commando Twister And then Top Gun 1 and Inception as honorable mentions Honestly they're all fun and well done! It's hard to choose. Anyway, I'm excited to watch this with you guys after work tonight!

Noel Valdez

The first time I saw this I had to take a break because I was so freaked. Lol now I can watch it through no problem, but more than anything the bleak tone got me in just a nervous state which made the movie that much scary the first time I saw it. I got a similar feeling when watching Talk To Me actually which is another great Aussie horror!

Deco

Thats some quick customer service 👍 thanks for the workaround

Odd Thomas

Simone and Bryce Dallas Howard have the exact same laugh

Odd Thomas

I wanted the Babadook to eat that frickin' kid, ngl

Ballsac McGee

do what they did in the social network to rank girls for face mash. Take all the thumbnails and asign them all a base ELO of 1400 and do a thumbnail 1 vs thumbnail 2 choice voting hot or not style. Then use the algorithm used to rank chess players to rank which is the favourite thumbnail. Don't know if you have the capability to do this, but for a dataset this big, this is the only real and fair way where people selecting their favourite aren't overwhelmed with choices.

Andrew Manford

Thanks for your hard work. It is not easy to do all this.👌

Allen Pass

You should watch/react to Sinister. I thought The Conjuring was scarier than The Babadook. The Babadook felt a little too slow paced for me.

IncredibleBulk

Top thumbnail, tough one as there are some amazing ones. I did decide that it would have to be one that included you both, and I figured horrors I tended to find funniest in part to Simones scared face on a character is generally pretty funny so I did some searching through and I'd stuck between The Shining or Tucker and Dale

Michael

I prefer the original Italian version, the Gabagool, and it’s sequel, the Badabing.

Hi I'm George Junior, but my friends call me Geo-Ju

🖤Simone as the Joker is my favorite thumbnail (off the top of my head, for a definitive answer I'd have to scroll your Youtube). But that one gives me nightmares and nightmares are fun XD

Opti_Frog

I'm not sure i like the term "elevated horror" very much, but The Babadook is top tier in that category. As someone who has had bouts of anxiety and depression, i have actually never revisited this particular movie until now, but i really enjoyed it much more this time. The film's metaphors aren't exactly subtle, but they are accurate and fascinating. I'm happy you could see it. When it comes to these kinds of arthouse horrors, my favourite is The Witch. Hope to see it in a poll some day. Oh right, it's an A24 one. Never mind then 😄

Hi I'm George Junior, but my friends call me Geo-Ju

🖤If you were actually interested in finding out the community's favorite thumbnail(s) for a shirt or shirts, you could make a dedicated post asking to get information that way then do a regular patreon poll for the top 10 or however many. Not groundbreaking I know. Info you already have LOL BUT... If you wanted to take those suggestions and put them in a bracket-style tournament poll with the actual picture of the thumbnail, people could vote on them via that format and make a mini-game out of it. You can make such a bracket at polltab.com

The sound design is so freaking good. Essie Davis is married to Justin Kurzel, he's made some brilliantly messed up movies in Australia, namely Snowtown and Nitram.

Jay

I've said it so many times, Simone watching Sinister would be absolute gold!

Nat B

I love Jennifer Kent's work. I also recommend the movie she made right after this one called The Nightingale. The Nightingale isn't a horror movie, but it is very brutal. And also EXTREMELY beautiful. From the way you talked about The Babadook, I highly recommend you give it a watch too, I'm pretty sure you'll like it.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

That's funny, I should've looked at the comments, I see you guys figured out the sync problem, I literally watched the whole movie having to re-sync like every thirty seconds lol. Oh well, I do love this movie and really wanted to see your reaction, btw I prefer this over Midsommar anyway, it's not bad but I think this one is much better. Also, Essie Davis was in Game of Thrones, briefly. She was the actor who Arya chose not to assassinate, and then patched Arya up when she got stabbed up by the Waif. She was phenomenal in this, I have to give a slight edge to Toni Collette though, for one, and it's kind of minor but, I'm impressed by how good her American accent is, but more so it was the way she portrayed absolute, gut-wrenching grief after you know what happened. Another great Australian horror movie I highly recommend is Possession (1981), with Sam Neill, it's a classic, and still holds up in my opinion.

REDR58

And we just saw Faye Marsay in the most recent Black Mirror reaction who played The Waif! She is also in Andor.

Chase Schleich

Why in the hell wouldn't they move?! Leave that thing for someone else to deal with lol.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Reflecting on the question, I think my preference are the thumbnails that look like y’all could cosplay as iconic movie characters over silly edits (as great as many of those are as well). All time favorites have to be y’all as the leads in “Casablanca” and “The Wizard of Oz”. Runner ups go to “The Simpsons Movie”, “The Shining”, Bill and Ted, “True Grit” & “Master and Commander”.

djKENTO

Would love to see a reaction to It Follows now.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

“Elevated horror” always sounded like a backhanded compliment to the horror movie genre as a whole. Admittedly there’s countless horror movies that are cheap, schlocky and sloppy when the effort and/or skill isn’t there but the genre is also capable of having among the most fun, inventive and iconic movies even when they are lower tier works.

BangDroid

George, I'm almost certain there's a way to automatically populate a Google Form with YouTube thumbnails using a combination of Sheets and Google Apps Scripts. Oh and a YouTube Data API key. Maybe a little side project I know you're busy, but it will certainly be faster than manually collecting every thumbnail file and creating the form manually. Even try with the help of ChatGPT or Copilot.

BangDroid

Actually, never mind. I just was looking into this and it seems Google Forms does not natively support displaying images directly from URLs as choice options. Poo

BangDroid

Simone, The Babadook is set in my home town of Adelaide. The antipode location (opposite side of the globe) is very very close to Canada. Although I don't know what part of Canadia you're at lol, I'm sure you're safe. You really couldn't be much further away!

djKENTO

Adelaide? That's where Bajo from Good Game lives.... That's even more terrifying.

Anodyne

What did they change in the US release?

olly.enn

Nothing AFAIK. The difference in runtime comes only from PAL/NTSC framerate deviations.

MasterElodin

You could maybe use Reddit for this? People can comment their favorite thumbnails there and when people vote on the comments it auto sorts for most votes.

Michael LaPorte

I'm not sure about which ones specifically, but I think you guys have a great thumbnail game. The customized headshots are fun and having the poster next to them means they're always clear to read.

Brien Kliver

I wish you guys were able to watch the movies at night, would probably be a much different vibe. Especially the horror movies!

PIG

Don't know if anyone already said it, but Louis CK is the comedian who's bit was about the only vacation you have as a parent is the walk from the car's backdoor to the driver's seat. As usual, Louis is correct lol As a parent? No, not even on bad days, am I ever not wanting to be a father to my 4 year old daughter. But I'm in my mid-forties and I had my twenties and thirties to do what I wanted. If I had her in my early twenties, it might be a very different answer. I try to tell as many teens and young adults to TAKE YOUR TIME. Live your life, it makes it so much better and enjoyable when you have a kid at an older age. OK, that's long post. Wonderful movie, as good as the first time I saw it, and so much more than a quality horror film.

REDR58

First time watching. Finally got around to it. Great reaction. I don’t have kids but when my first niece was born I unexpectedly became a part-time babysitter 5 days a week helping out my mother when my sister had a baby and then went back to work, leaving the baby with my mom who is in her 70s. My niece is a lovely child and was absolutely no problem and continues to be a wonderfully behaved child but that experience made me even more convinced I don’t ever want children of my own. As far as people who do have children and wish they didn’t, just look at “regretfulparents ” on Reddit. Anyone who is doubtful about having kids might want to check that out.

Re: the sync issue - welcome to my world where a lot of the movies I watch are out of sync cause I live in Australia, and depending on the version have to constantly try to resync…one reason why having them uncovered is definitely a plus for those of us who live in the arse end of the world
