"I need bad things to happen to that guy"...🤔🤯

Ph4ZeD

Not sure if thumbnail or just random photo of Simone going about her day

mcfierce24

George said "tattoo gun". Ick.

FaceMustache

Real shame we could not get the sequels.

By all indications, Daniel Craig is ECSTATIC that Benoit Blanc is overriding his public perception as James Bond. He wasn't shy about showing his growing dissatisfaction with the franchise as it went along, nor the minimal effort he put into it. I recommend "Layer Cake" from 2004. A crime drama, it's a great showcase of Craig's subdued talent when it's not on BOLD display.

Ben Hairston

I enjoyed the remake, but do hope to see the Swedish version reaction at some point. Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth is absolutely fearless in her acting choices. Loved all three of the original trilogy, which are reflected in the other tattoos you see in this version.

Bookwormy

Not sure if it was explained, but the original title of the book translates to "Men Who Hate Women", I don't know why it was changed

Bob Bittner

I got excited when I saw the title, then stopped and said, “Why’s Daniel Craig in the thumbnail?” For some reason, I expected the original Swedish version…

Anthony James Marshall

The second book translates to "Girl Who Played with fire" When adapting them to English the publishers decided the best idea was to give them all a similar name and felt "The Girl..." was the most evocative option. The first book was originally called "Men Who Hate Women",

Matthew ford

The Swedish movies are so much better as the story really resolves itself so satisfyingly in the third book/movie. The book is also really named “Men who hate women” in Swedish.

punterjoe

Maybe the reason they called the book "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" was ....to sell books? 🤨 Of course it also helped with naming the sequels.....

Helly R

His dissatisfaction, as far as I can tell, mostly came from the injuries he repeatedly sustained. He put off surgery and shot half of Spectre in agony with a stuffed leg. I would hardly say he put in "minimal effort", but I'm sure he's happy it's done.

Helly R

Can I recommend 'Carol' which is a beautiful movie with Rooney Mara in it.

REDR58

“The Girl in the Spider’s Web” with Claire Foy taking over the Salander role is a “soft-reboot/sequel” to this movie but the series ended with “…Spider’s Web.” The Swedish version trilogy films were all made by the same production company with the same actors and were all released in 2009, so there is a lot more self-consistency in that series and that only benefits the story and presentation as far as I’m concerned.

Hans Czajkowski Jørgensen

George, you brought up that the movie title seemed arbitrary to you. It might interest you to know that the original title of the crime novel on which the movie is based is 'Men Who Hate Women'. My translation, so please excuse any shortcomings.

Happy Hanukkah

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"? What a strangely arbitrary name, I can't imagine what the author was thinking! Oh well, I guess we'll never know. (Obviously :-P )

Rob Church

I definitely prefer the original Swedish films. I love David Fincher, he's one of my favorite directors, but he is completely wasted on remakes. One of the reasons I'm not very excited about his US Squid Game remake.

John Neiberger

As others have mentioned, the original title of the Swedish book and movie was Men Who Hate Women. I think the US publisher thought that title would sell well, so they changed it.

John Neiberger

If this were the Swedish version, I'd watch the full watch along. But since it's the Fincher version, here I am in the YouTube version. lol Both are really good movies. I'm just far too attached to the original.

John Neiberger

Yeah, it's a sad day for us fans of the original. This one is good, but it just doesn't have the same feel as the original. It looks great, no doubt, but the original is one of my favorite movies.

John Neiberger

The people trying to fake Swedish accents in this film all end up sounding like they're doing bad Russian accents. They can't seem to figure out what accent they're going for. None of them sound Swedish except the couple of actual Swedes in it. Although Skarsgard actually does his usual "American" accent instead of using his natural Swedish accent, probably because that's how people expect him to sound.

David Nesbit

You should definitely watch the original Swedish Trilogy

Nick Kessler

Technically it's an american film version of a book that was made after the swedish version. Most fans of the book actually like this better. So kind of a remake but much less so than many films.

Sergio Meira

"Feels like a TV show intro"... Hm, the movie I always thought this about was Terminator 1.

Anamondaris

I loved these books. I’m actually going to get the audiobooks rn

Kacey Keel

To me, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is the title because the story only happens the way it does bc of her. It is essentially about her more than the first case they are on together with the Vagners. That’s as far as I wanna go to avoid spoils bc I really would love to see you guys react to the original trilogy. That’d be sick. Thanks for being awesome!

Kacey Keel

But why that over like you said, “girl with the Mohawk” is probably just a loose metaphor for the who she is under the cold aloof surface. You wouldn’t guess it but she has “dragon energy” haha. Powerful, scary at times, ya know dragon stuff 🤦‍♂️🤣

Mr. J

Great reaction! More Fincher films, please. Stay rad both of you 🤘🏼💕

Mark Polo

Yeh the original Swedish title is actually "Men who hate women" Not sure why they changed it in the translations to the girl with the dragon tattoo.

Jeff I.

I think it's a much more interesting, unique title than the direct translation and probably makes most people more curious to see it (or read the book)

Redrum Ritual

Simone should make her hair like that for real lol
