Wreck-it Ralph - Patreon Version

Yay! One of my fave animated movies. The sequel has its moments but isn't nearly as good. Nimona should be your next animated movie, it's so good. Another great John C Reilly movie is Magnolia.

silverarrow06

Yes! I'm so happy you're watching one of my all-time favorites! 🤩

Travis

Everytime I see this title I think of the James Franco roast where Jeff Ross goes, “wow Sarah, I’m so proud of you for your success in that movie, Wreck it Ralph. Which is ironically what guys do to your pussy. They wreck it and Ralph.” 🤣🤣🤣 Apologies.

DinChild

The "random quest mark" was the Metal Gear Solid alert. Love it.

JediLounger

I think you guys have absorbed enough pop culture to watch Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018). Which you absolutely should do.

Odd Thomas

Other fun video game movies: Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) Silent Hill

Kevin

Been waiting for this one awhile

Matt88g

talladega nights ballad of ricky bobby reunion, wreck it Ralph (John c Riley) is Ricky’s best friend, the solider women (Jane Lynch) is Ricky’s mom, and fix it Felix(Jack McBrayer) is Glenn one of the silly mechanics

Kevin

You can skip the second one imo. It doesn’t have the heart that this one has.

This is one of my favorite animated movies of all time. And it's so overlooked! It's funny, it's creative, the voice acting is great - and let's be serious here - the real heroes are the writers! Listening to Simone and George's commentary, their expectations were subverted at LEAST 4 times. What they expected would happen ... didn't... and the "twist" was perfectly logical and was set up by a previous thing that you heard, but didn't think was important! I love their reaction to the one of the BIG twists at the end with King Kandy. And it was also awesome that they didn't know that Alan did the voice acting for him. And the story, as well as having a good message, well written and action-packed, was also very touching, and I'm not crying, you're crying. Please, George and Simone, watch WiW2, because you will ABSOLUTELY love it just as much, and you will see similarities to your own relationship, as well as many references to your profession! It's a must-see!

The second one is good too. You definitely should react to it to wrap up the story like a little homeless lady.

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

They did got rights for Mario which is why Bowser is there(Nintendo even commented how Bowser should hold his cup of tea) but they can only use Mario if he has a more important role and not just a quick cameo. The second movie tried to use Mario but they used more internet related stuff than videogames, is not a bad movie but not as good as this one.

Nemo

You guys always bring such a positive attitude into every reaction you shoot. Even though you have a schedule and might not feel like watching everything, it is such a pleasant experience for us to join you and watch these fun movies. Thank you both!

Jasbro

Defintely watch the 2nd movie, i personally think he 1st is better but the 2nd is still really good.

Ricardo Alanis

I really enjoyed the sequel and addresses a different dynamic between Ralph and Venellope. A fun watch for sure.

Oh boy Jack McBrayer. If you ever want to head into one of the best sitcoms by probably a decent margin (directly after Community, of course), 30 Rock with all its fun cameos and Tina Feys and Alec Baldwins is one to go for. Probably not an easy sell, seeing as it's like 140 episodes long (20 mins a piece though) and isn't likely to win the already rare polls anyhow - but Jack McBrayer is part of it, and a great one, too. Very much fits the demeanor of FiF, I'd say. It's really great though, I can't express how good 30 Rock is. Okay, Better off Ted might be another contender for the greats, with sadly much fewer episodes.

Back in the 1980s when my family would visit our local Pizza Hut as a treat they would usually have a jukebox and a tabletop/cocktail Pac-Man (or Defender?) game (like this one: https://youtu.be/fSDNNQxfOmM?si=8uFd6AjFBUDYZl8V) and I popped many a quarter into that game. This was when Pizza Huts were actual sit-down restaurants then—I haven’t seen one like they used to be in years now. Anyway, I would Iove to get such a Pac-Man tabletop like that now but they are very expensive.

My main arcade experience is mostly movie theaters with one or two pinball machines and some arcade racers where I am from, if arcades ever were a thing, they sure weren't twenty-five years or so ago. We definitely got caught up in China during our studies, with all the various bootleg machines and insane fire-hazards (lmao at that pure sweaty, naked dude cramped under the stairs, playing a bootleg localization of Civ II or whatever it actually was)... but we still would mostly hang out in wangbas. Which just sounds better than "internet café" on account of the "wang," but yeah, the Chinese pre- 2010s gaming experience was very interesting. Cheap fun, but having to provide ID (somewhat of a big hurdle for foreigners as I recall) definitely made it slightly weird. Really, really, really eye-opening in terms of how far they would go to make previously inaccessible or not localized software available via modding efforts, even getting the typeface remotely legible on old-school 640 by 480 games like Diablo II (a game that struggled properly displaying English text in only capitals, lol) was kinda huge. Very interesting rabbit hole to go down if you're into engineering and design, the keywords "seven-segment LED displays Chinese/Japanese" will get you far.

I don’t want to be that guy, but no George, Mario Kart is not similar to games that came before it. it created the character kart racing genre and everyone else borrows its mechanics. I know you’re not a console guy, but yeah Mario Kart is the OG. As for a Wreck it Ralph game, nope. Disney was doing a Toys to Life game thing at the time where you’d buy toys and they’ed appear in this big Disney game with user created levels. Ralph did cameo in a Sonic Kart racer As for why Mario isn’t in this game, Nintendo has been SUPER protective of what shows up in movies after 1993 Super Mario Bros movie, which you ABSOLUTELY should react to just because it’s fucking crazy. I mean… you aren’t ready for how insane it is.

shaneth138

Ralph Breaks the Internet is definitely worth a watch! You will definitely catch more of the internet references in that one too.

Blake Gorf

I didn't hate 1993 Super Mario Bros but I can see why Nintendo would be so protective of how its IP is adapted.

Philipp Roensch

Damn, always so good to watch again. The Turbo twist got me the first time as well, it is kinda sneaky in foreshadowing. Love the dramatic bullies, the high energy pace of it and of course all the inside jokes. Such a great movie. Ralph Wrecks the internet is still worth it!

REDR58

The worst Disney film, probably just by way of content, would have to be “Song of the South” from 1946.

Tenn Seven

Bruh, Tapper is a legit arcade game and it came out two years before Super Mario Bros. (two years after Donkey Kong though).

REDR58

Rich Moore, the director of this movie is of course director on episodes of The Simpsons, Futurama and other shows. He also directed The Simpsons movie and Zootopia. Bowser (giant turtle dragon guy) the antagonist from a number of Super Mario Brothers games appears in the Bad Guy Support Group scenes. The Q-Bert character (orange 2-legged guy) is of course from the game of the same name.

FranciscoGios

I just want to say that most arcade games I used to play were either racing, fighting or “beat’em up”- like The Simpsons Arcade game-. Look up Rampage Arcade game read the template and you guys will see were else they got the idea, almost very similar to the characters. Also Ninja Gaiden another important arcade game from the 80s, in which it has been reused and upgrade in different platforms.

Nico Colaleo

While you guys mention you're aware of the Ralph sequel, it's... well, it's not a BAD movie. But it's just, the original is SO good that the sequel just feels unnecessary and nowhere near the first one. IMO the story is janky, the jokes are all immediately dated (because, y'know, Internet), and I feel they get Ralph and Vanellope's characters/relationship completely wrong. And Felix and Sgt. Calhoun are basically little more than background extras. So this is just a friendly "keep these in mind" if you decide to watch the sequel!

Raven Dark

LIke a lot of movies that have come out in the last decade or so, this was another one I passed on because I didn't think I'd like it. Now that I've seen it, I love it. I watched it a few weeks ago, so it was great to see it again with you two. What afun reaction! George, I get what you're saying about when characters don't tell each other the truth when they have every reason to. I don't like that either. I'm not sure that's a problem here, though. I wonder if King Candy/Turbo didn't tell Penelope the truth because he was afraid she'd somehow figure out who he is? I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. Oh, and I never hear it talked about, but I love the musical score in this movie. It's got this slightly epic tone that just works. After seeing your reaction to this and a few other movies with similar types of humor and tone, I highly recommend you guys react to The Croods. It's from Dreamworks, and it came out in 2013, so a year after this one. I think I remember also thinking I wouldn't care for that one either, and now it's one of my favorite movies, and I really think you guys will love it.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Among the Disney movies I’ve seen, I gotta go with “Chicken Little” as the worst, and “Pocahontas” might be pretty low too. While I can’t help but feel like this movie apes “Shrek” a little too often, John C. Reilly is incredibly endearing and what sells it for me. Comedies tend to be his more noted roles but he’s had quite the varied career and I’m always happy whenever a chance is given to him to be more center stage like in this, “Walk Hard” or some of those earlier Paul Thomas Anderson movies. And if I were a cat, I’d have lost at least 6 lives dying of laughter to Dr. Steve Brule, man is demented in that role!

Amelie W

This movie perfectly captures the feeling of being a child and having adults you trust decide they know stuff they can't be bothered to explain to you that justifies tying you up in a candy tree and break the things you love the most when you're too small to do anything about it. . .I still don't understand how they got away with that scene.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

I’d also add that their sequel ideas in the post-flick chat sound more interesting than what ended up being in the sequel. It has its moments but it doesn’t resonate as well as the first does.

Felreign

Seconding Chicken Little, its my least favorite canon Disney movie, not fond of Dinosaur either

samuel Jakob

Such a fun movie, I would certaintly recommend the second one, but its not as good, I stil really enjoy it just because of all the references.

Elbinho

My favourite nod to the adult gamers in the audience is Kano's cameo in the support group, ripping out the zombie's heart. The children in the audience should probably not know any Mortal Kombat characters

Jay Davis

My major in college was Sonic The Hedgehog, I kid you not.

Noel Valdez

I remember not liking this that much when I watched it but rewatching it now I really enjoyed it.

Jeb Manning

Seeing George and Simone's reaction to some of the jokes and the emotional moments in this really makes me want to see a reaction to Gravity Falls.

Tanx

her bed is a sponge cake and those types are for making strawberry shortcakes. you put fresh cut strawberries in the indention along with the strawberry juice and then add whip cream on top.

Michael

how have you not done the movie "Up" yet. Pixar movie that won animated movie of the year 2009. you'll laugh and cry, its the best

UncleGaGa1979

Thanks for talking during the end credits. I couldn't hear the Sugar Rush theme!!!

Raven Dark

Hey, S&G, can you tell me where the sequel, Ralph Breaks The Internet is? I tried all sorts of things to look for it, including in Search or in Collections and this one is the only one that comes up. And I mean even the Patreon or YouTube cuts aren't coming up either. You guys did the sequel, right? My apologies if I'm imagining things. Thanks for all the hard work you do!
