Alien Resurrection AND Prometheus?! This is going to be great

Eric Mc Daniel

I was not expecting that. I think they want to get ready for Romulus

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy Says Happy Halloween Grrr Argh

A Fish Called Wanda’s a personal favourite - Kevin Kline is absolutely brilliant! Curious how Resurrection will go - have only watched it once ages ago and time has been… interesting to it haha; but it’s worth it for getting to Romulus. Fun week ahead

Nicik

Meh...

Graham Bullman

I actually prefer Prometheus and Covenant to Romulus, but either way it’s great to watch S&G running through the series.

paul rai

Happy to see Resurrection made it in! It’s such a goofy-ass movie that despite it being a poor sequel to the Alien franchise, it’s just too damn fun to outright ignore. That thumbnail of Brad Dourif making kissy faces with the Alien tells you the type of tone and style it’s taking.

dudewheresmycar

A few like me mentioned getting the most out of Romulus requires a watch of Resurrection even if it's not a great movie.

Mastervodo

I am all for the Alien movies. I hope you hit Wreck it Ralph 2 sooner than later!

Spawncalibur

Prometheus is underrated imo. Thought it was just ok till a rewatch recently. Id say why but it would spoil it if havnt watched already before possibility reading this comment. Ill just say it was fun researchering after the film.

Michael Stutsman

Wreck it Ralph 2 isn't bad till you see when it was made & a lot of the jokes just seem outdated to when it released.

Mastervodo

Ya, but I think Simone and George, with their profession and tastes, will really get a kick out of a lot of it.

Alexrandom

I love everything on this list ! Except Prometheus maybe. I like watching it because it's very pretty but it's so dumb. The interviews done at the time made me dislike Ridley Scott a lot and I can't stop thinking about him when watching the film. I far prefer Tony Scott out of the two brothers but I know it's not a common opinion. His movies are a lot closer to the common man and way less pretentious. Hope you guys end up watching more Tony Scott! :)

Matthew Johnson

I made the mistake of trying to watch Prometheus the first time as some kind of plot turnkey for Alien and found it incredibly disappointing and really facile. Years later I went back and watched it purely for the vibes and the absolutely incredible look of it and I enjoyed it so much more. Not to mention: Space Trucker Idris Elba will always be a perennial erotic fascination of mine, and I imagine that’s so for others as well. Also I know we are going to get cackling George on A Fish Called Wanda, which we can all agree is Best George.

Graham Bullman

Also looking forward to Simone’s reaction to the Medpod scene. 🤣

Opti_Frog

Since i'm getting a reaction to Alien: Resurrection next week (YAY!) i will shut up about Prometheus. In fact, i'm looking forward to the Prometheus reaction. I think it might actually be quite funny. 😊 AND A Fish Called Wanda! Wohoo!

Chase Schleich

You're doing Alien Resurrection even after everyone told you not to? You're just hurting your viewing of Romulus.

Maiki

Wouldn't say i prefer Tony, Ridley has done some all-time masterpieces, but just looked it up, Simone and George have only seen one single Tony Scott film, which was Man on Fire. So definitely second more of the little ones fantastic filmography! Rest in peace :( Edit: Totally forgot about Top Gun, so it's been 2.

Jasbro

Whos everyone?, a lot of us were saying yes they should watch it

Jasbro

Next week is looking good, Alien Resurrection and Prometheus

DM DC

Nice line up. Can't wait for Alien: Ressurection. I personally really liked Alien: Ressurection. I know some fans of the franchise hate it, but I think it's actually pretty good. I just noticed new episodes of The Legend of Vox Machina is starting. I was thinking you two should either get George caught up and do the new season, ooor do a reaction for George's first time watching (if he hasn't already seen it) for seasons 1 and 2, then do a first time watch for the new season. I think George would really like Vox Machina, especially season 2.

Paul Mix

Fantastic movie lineup, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the thumbnail for Simone and George as Wanda and Otto.

Gaius Frakking Baltar

Totally agree - Resurrection is a favorite guilty pleasure of mine, and there are more than a few fun lines in Joss Whedon's script.

Gregory Sambrano

Don’t care what anyone says Prometheus is still the best alien sequel better than everything after aliens bar none

Gregory Sambrano

And I’m a 45 year old who grew up with all the alien movies

Zinphad

Or Ken and the fish

Zinphad

Guilty pleasure for me as well. Was already a fan of Jeunet, and loved to see his take on it. And, the water scene had my favorite visual of the series.

Alexrandom

Blade runner and Alien are some of my favourite films so I get what you mean. I'd say they're way better than any Tony Scott. But I enjoy almost all of Tony Scott films even if a bit less :) Crimson tide and déjà vu are among my all time favourites!

Maiki

Yeah, there's no real miss. Love both crimson tide and deja vu. Spy Game and Enemy of the State are excellent. Although the first Beverly Hills Cop is objectively the better movie, i like Scotts second one a bit more. Last Boy Scout might be my favourite one, but hey, it's a Shane Black script, what could go wrong. Not the biggest fan of The Fan though, ironically :)

Monica Alarcon

Everyone? I remember myself and a lot of others asking them to watch it... And I'd rather watch Resurrection again than Prometheus and Covenant, those I can't stand...

Alexrandom

I haven't seen "the fan" and didn't even know of it ! Adding it to my watchlist. And I haven't seen any "Beverly hills cop" movies either. Someday ! :)

maikeru

@Zinphad I also like the acting of Dominique Pinon (had to google his name since I forgot) in this film; probably the best acting in the whole movie: he IS the character. The only other thing I know him from is the Amelie movie. I think I´m gonna check out other stuff he´s done.

Bruce Liddle

I'm another one that really liked Alien: Resurrection. Is it perfect? No. Is it a nice piece of sci-fi in the Alien universe? yes it is. I watched Alien at the cinema in 1979. Aliens at the cinema is amazing too. I've still got my laserdisc of Alien: Resurrection. Lets stop the hate :-)

Dorran

Honestly excited for A Fish Called Wanda. We really need to follow it up with Fierce Creatures, though XD

maikeru

I think I‘ll rewatch the Jackie Brown reaction in the next days

Logan Kerlee

5/6 of these I'm pumped for! Hell yeah.

Logan Kerlee

I've never watched the movie. I trust that I'll enjoy it though. :)

Logan Kerlee

Appreciate you clarifying that it's the best AFTER Aliens. I'm 100% with you, on that. :)

HeyHeyJK

I'll begrudginly watch the "A Fish Called Wanda" reaction since it should have been a "Raising Arizona" reaction. Just kidding (kind of). AFCW is great, but it's no "Raising Arizona".

David

There's four more Alien films and you chose Resurrection.

darkmoobs

They are going in order of the movies' release dates. Not sure what you want them to do here?

Tom Hess

Of course it's subjective, but I'll take Alien Resurrection over Prometheus and Covenant every day :-)

Ramvolter

I'm in the minority who LOVES Resurrection.

Inkpendude

Even with the important deleted scenes that would have made the story make more meaning?

Luca

Thank you for continuing alien. In my opinion resurrection is great, obviously not as good as the previous films, but not as bad as people say it is

John

As you move through October I would like to strongly recommend for a Thursday or Sunday slot, you consider George Romero's Night of the Living Dead and his sequel Dawn of the Dead they are generally considered landmark movies in the genre.

John

Tony Scott made some great movies. I would echo Crimson Tide, The Last Boy Scout, Days of Thunder, and Spy game as particular stand out movies he directed that have not been seen yet on the channel.

Logan Nelson

Surprised a special Wolverine Deadpool drop hasn't hit yet...

droodly

Last weeks What's coming up post said it'll be out on Sunday the 6th. :)

AVATAR-X

For what it's worth, Raising Arizona was number two on that poll, so it's fairly likely they'll get to it in a week or two.

Jacob King

Jean Pierre-Jeunet got to make Alien Resurrection because he made two brilliantly weird SF adjacent comedies, Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children (probably my favourite movie of all time) then after his trip to Hollywood he returned to France to make Amelie, one of the most commercially successful romcoms ever. I don’t know if the lesson is don’t hire a French clown to make your horror movie or if you do don’t stop him making it as weird and silly as he wants but it’s a disappointment either way. I do have some affection for it because it was the first alien movie I could see at a cinema.

FranciscoGios

I see what you did with the Ressurection & Prometheus thumbnail there 😬 😬

Random Nevermind

And the phrase "don’t hire a French clown to make your horror movie" makes my day

FrancescoTakesItEasy

Well, Hill and Giler, the producers, just kept with what worked, or kind of worked before. Ridley Scott came from the world of commercials, and Alien was only his second movie. James Cameron was hired to write Aliens in 1983 - before he even made The Terminator - because of the strength of his Terminator script and his effects work. So Cameron was also a potential hot new filmmaker. Fincher was a respected commercial and music video director who may have just been the next big thing. And Jeunet was a French guy with very visual sensibilities. Every Alien director was kind of early in his career and showed visual and technical skill. So it's not THAT crazy that they picked him. The main problem was probably that Jeunet did not speak English at the time, and though he did bring some previous collaborators along (the editor, production designer, effects supervisor etc.), most of the crew were English-speaking people. Plus, Jeunet was working off a Joss Whedon script, which is very dependent on the rhythm of the dialogue. Something just got lost in translation, I guess. Also, I suppose that after the Fincher debacle Hill, Giler and 20th Century Fox very more hands on during the production. I dunno, I think Resurrection kinda rules, what with all the Euro weirdness, goop, slime, gore, and practical effects. Plus, Ron fucking Perlman.

Amar

Alien week!!!

Nate Gavin

As it's spooky season now, may I recommend He Never Died. George, you might really like this one!

Nate Gavin

Also what about a decent horror-comedy tv series? Ash vs Evil Dead. He's an even more lovable a-hole in this series!

Monica Alarcon

They've seen "Dawn of the Dead" before they started the channel

Zinphad

@E.D. Pinon is probably best in Delicatessen, but is also memorable in City of the Lost Children.

JFC

Please let us know if Alien Resurrection is theatrical cut or special edition.

Garrett Jay Christian

I strongly suspect Vox Machina is one they keep for themselves based on how many Critical Role shirts Simone has worn in videos paired with George's D&D jokes.

Brendan Rafferty

Prometheus is very pretty to look at… beautiful sets, costumes and cinematography… just poorly written

Nathan Jasper

Really? The creator of the Hellboy comic Mike Mignola was praising it.

Opti_Frog

It's not surprising Mignola was praising it, since he's involved in the production and co-wrote it, as far as i understand.

Rachel W

Don't care what anyone says, I love Prometheus.

Jakub Krelik

it's such a bad movie tho...
