Can't wait for the final episode of this series to air so I can finally watch it. I refuse to do week to week. Once I start watching it, I know I'm not going to want to stop.

Is Pagans a new tier?

You know what I’m starting to love? Sofia’s tic of stuffing her face when she eats. Most of the time she’s so composed and thoughtful in the way she speaks and acts, but there’s always that quality of unhinged predatory viciousness lurking below the surface. The rare times you get to see how much of predator she is is when she devours any food brought in front of her like a lion ripping through the flesh of its victim.

The Penguin makeup only initially took 4 hours. He said they got his makeup done within only TWO HOURS by the end of season 1.

So I guess we shall see what happens with this series, but if they end up not giving you guys enough on Sofia Falcone and her story, then you should check out the comics that they are drawing a great deal from. The Long Halloween and Dark Victory are credited with bringing the Mob back into Batman lore, and continue to be consequential. The creative team of Jeff Loeb/Tim Sale also did a Catwoman book in the same timeline, and were working on a final series when Sale passed away in 2022. That series was recently announced to be in production and the first issue hit comic shelves a few days ago.

Great episode, certainly fun for this pagan :D So I know as much as you do about the Penguin, mostly seen him in the Arkham games, which is way over the top with a freaking bottle bottom as monocle. But I like this fresh take on the character, really grounded, you can tell he has a weakness for people with disabilities. His mom's condition and Vic's speech impediment is something he probably relates to, being put down for his limp and scarring, it really makes one sympathetic with the gangster he is. I agree with Simone also, he is a player, confident, smart survival instinct and charming if he wants to be. Sofia said "not going to be pushed aside again" which kinda implies the old men could have had something to do with her imprisonment, must have acted above Alberto for sure. The female cousin conveniently promoting a trip to Italy is "hella sus" as the kids say.

I saw a great comment about Oz and Vic's weaknesses. Oz had his limp, he can't run, so he has to talk his way out if situations. Vic has a stutter, he can't talk his way out so he has to run.

I think I've found my type, but never in a million years would I have thought it was a damaged serial killing psychopath. I might be in trouble.

I know a lot of people say “read the comics” and that’s fine. Do so with all haste! But I don’t care about the source material in the slightest. To me, comics are such a different kind of media that “lore” or “canon” from the printed works are irrelevant. I collected comics for a few years back in the 1990s when I was in high school and then college but lost interest. If I happen to recognize something from those comics (particularly Marvel) that can be a fun Easter egg or reference in these kinds of shows, but it doesn’t reduce my enjoyment of live action interpretations of the material. For example, I know it’s very important to a lot of people, but I don’t care that Batman never killed anyone in the comics and it’s doesn’t bother me that in Tim Burton’s movies that Batman does kill. I don’t think the comics are sacrosanct nor are they any better or worse interpretations of these stories compare to live action or even animation. Anyway, I’m enjoying this series so far. Michael Kelly who plays Johnny Vitti here portrayed Steve Lombard in “Man of Steel” from 2013. He was one of the people who working with Laurence Fishburne’s Perry White at the Daily Planet. James Madio who plays Milo Grapa here also starred as Frank Perconte in “Band of Brothers.”

Nadia Maroni who is played by the great Shohreh Aghdashloo is speaking Persian in this epsiode, which is interesting because Salvatore Maroni is Italian. However she speaks Persian to his henchmen as well who seem to have Persian/Arabic names.

The funny face Simone makes when Oz stabs the guy lol. The Penguin in the comics and cartoon always looked like a deformed human penguin, but this Penguin is more grounded as in everyone calls him Penguin as to make fun of him. These characters I ever heard of till this show. The first time I heard the names Falcone and Maroni was in The Dark Knight trilogy.

Enjoying this show! It feels like it's coming together pretty well. :)
