Love this movie!! Looking forward to watch your reaction

Wulfric

Please react to The Equalizer 2&3. Its the only franchise Denzel has done in his career so far.

kbobravo

As someone who most definitely pressed play the moment this dropped, I must say this early on, Simone, I'm genuinely impressed with your Owen Wilson impersonation. Now back to the movie.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Ah been a while but a really fun movie. Chan and Wilson have surprisingly excellent chemistry and the horse is one of my personal favourite movie horses haha. Definitely recommend checking out Shanghai Knights as well! Has a change of scenery that makes for a very enjoyable sequel

silverarrow06

You have no idea how happy you make me with watching this!😍✨ While not the best movie of Jackie Chan or Owen Wilson, it certainly is one of the funniest and as someone else already said - Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan have a surprisingly great chemistry. If you liked this, then you have to watch "Shanghai Knights" too. Again great fun and it has a very young Aaron Taylor-Johnson ("Bullet Train", probably next James Bond) in his first major movie role...🤩🙌🏻🙏🏻

silverarrow06

Oh, totally forgot! "Shanghai Knights" also has one of the few (if not the only?) fight(s) of Jackie Chan and Donnie Yen! 😱🤩 And, btw. - The title "Shanghai Noon" also refers to the classic western "High Noon", an absolute must see movie, if you dive into classic movies or western again one day...😊

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Yep, good call mate. Fred Zinnemann directed it and it has Gary Cooper’s brilliant Oscar winning performance with a great third act. Truly a classic film and among my top 20 movies… though that list fluctuates often haha

W T

"Welcome to a random bowl of nuts" okay, now you're basically obligated to do a Kung Pow! reaction. For everyone's sake.

Maiki

Here in Germany, the movie title was even changed to Shang-High Noon. Well thanks guys, now we get it, duh!

JokerDanny

Will you guys be reacting to Beetlejuice 2? It is now available to stream

Jihad Lee

Shanghai Knights is a must watch. And easily my favorite of the 2 films. Gotta make that a plan to watch

Jasbro

Its been a long time since i've seen this, was great to revist it. The Noon part of the title is probably a play on the saying High Noon which is synonymous with westerns and their duels.

AJ Lynch

its play on wording Shanghai Noon so like High Noon, which is a phrase used a lot in western duels. Then they used Shanghai to just mix the two together.

lmao, this is great. xD I enjoyed this movie as a kid. Will it stand up still? I doubt it.. but ya never know! lol, milk in the bucket? xD Wow, Simone! hahahahaha hahahahaha, wow! "Oh, you were serious?" lmao, silly times for sure. xD Thanks George for letting the meowing cat out. :) I'm hoping to be happily surprised with this one. Wasn't a huge fan as a kid but it could be cool. I'm not sure if I visited the forbidden city while I was in China a few years ago or not. I don't think that I was, but maybe. Not all of the stunts in this are his, sadly. I'm not remembering much of this movie at all, which is weird for me. Jackie Chan's playing his lawful good self in this, so of course he has to help. hahahaha, wow! lol, I needed this. :P This movie's so silly. :) lmao, wow. xD You're right about that George! :P Thinking of a batleth, Simone. :) Good call on that! lmao, loved the four days bit! Had me laughing for sure. rofl, Fart Fart. SeemsGood That's pretty darm goofy. Coins is my guess, yeah. This movie's totally western made, yeah. I'm not sure on how many takes or whatever Jackie Chan would have had. I haven't ever watched the sequel, no idea on it. High noon is a western thing, yeah. Since long before Overwatch was a thought. I really liked her character as well! It's disappointing that she never had any other roles. The bloopers are hilarious! Big fan when they're included. :) lol, I love these Patron names! hahahaha So overall, I enjoyed the show! It was a lot of fun rewatching this. :)You both are awesome!

Brandon

I never saw this one before so seeing a younger Walton Goggins was a nice surprise. As was seeing that it was written by Albert Gough and Miles Millar who created Smallville shortly after this was released.

Logan Kerlee

It's crazy that you're right! Denzel's a phenomenal actor. I'm a big fan of those movies, I just never realized that they're his only dip into franchise films. :)

Simone, speaking of kindling, when my father was growing up in the 1950s in Philadelphia, everyone in the neighborhood used to get a delivery of coal via truck that would lift its load of coal up and dispense it via a long slide into the front window of the basement, depositing the coal into a “coal bin” (basically a small room at the front of the basement, about 10 feet by 5 feet). Then my grandfather or later one of the boys would load up the coal furnace and keep it burning all day so it would heat up water for the radiators.

REDR58

The “American West” which is basically what you see in this movie is a period of roughly 1865 (after the US Civil War) to about 1900, but cowboys (and cowgirls) as we think of them existed long before that in North America and Mexico. Some black slaves were cowboys and were among the earliest of “American” cowboys. Later, a number of black cowboys became rather famous and the tradition of (free) black cowboys lives on today. For more of this I suggest watching “The Harder They Fall” (2021) a historical movie based on real people and “Concrete Cowboy” (2020) set in modern day Philadelphia and also based on real people. Both are available on Netflix. None of Shanghai Noon was filmed in the US. It was all Canada (and the Forbidden City)!

silverarrow06

You are absolutely got it right, he was a teenager when he filmed it. Maybe it's my age, but for me everything younger than 15 counts as "very young".

W T

that's a definitive "weeooo weeeooo eeoo" from me

Brandon

I want to live in a universe where they made 'Easy Rawlins' into a hit movie franchise. 'Devil in a Blue Dress' is excellent and there's so many more books in the series they could have adapted.

Odd Thomas

High Noon is a good western. Another good Lucy Liu movie is Payback.

REDR58

Forgot to mention, “The Harder They Fall” and “Concrete Cowboy” both feature Idris Elba.

G P

Payback is a movie I haven't thought about for 25 years, its awesome!

Donna Castellano

Consider reacting to The Shield tv series, if you wanna see some awesome younger Walton Goggins stuff.

SpankTheMonk

Roger Yuan is a great villain. He shows up briefly in John Wick Chapter 3 - blink and you miss him, Venom, Dune 1/2 (looking super fit) and a bunch of films ( my old Kung Fu teacher is also in John Wick 3 movie on the bad guys side) I guess the life of actor and martial artist . Also Xander B plays a character named after the actor Lee Van Cleef, famous as the man in black in the Sergio Leone dollars trilogy- ode in name and style.

Joe

High Noon = Comes from "showdowns" in westerns being at high noon. Jackie Chan's in it = Shanghai Noon.

Joe

Definitely watch the sequel. Donnie Yen's in it.

REDR58

Lee Van Cleef is also in Escape From New York! S&G watched it here.

REDR58

Shanghai Noon is set in 1881 btw. It says so onscreen at the beginning.

Skyruff

Red Sun (1971) is a great western meets Samurai film. Staring Charles Bronson and Toshiro Mifune.

Foodassassin4life

Another Great western comedy you guys should watch is Maverick with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster

djKENTO

my copy gets here on blu-ray tomorrow. Excited to rewatch this one for the first time since theaters.

REDR58

Seconding “Devil in a Blue Dress” (1995)! And adding Malcolm X (1992) for more Denzel.

REDR58

I’m amazed S & G didn’t get it! They kept talking about it and got so close to the joke!

Peter Moe

Shanghai knights, and Wild Wild West! :)

Shibby

This movie is so much fun :)

BangDroid

I am so excited for this!!! I had this on VHS and watched the ever loving crap out of it!

BangDroid

Anyone else love the original score in this too? As silly and unserious as this movie is, the music gets to me man! It's beautiful!

Smooticus

Fun movie An FYI for anyone else who gets Criterion Channel, theyr'e doing a big Coen Brothers release this month - Blood Simple (1984), Raising Arizona (1987), Miller’s Crossing (1990), Barton Fink (1991), The Hudsucker Proxy (1994), The Big Lebowski (1998), A Serious Man (2009), True Grit (2010), Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)

SpankTheMonk

Oh and I saw George surprised at Lucy Liu seemingly doing her own fighting. I believe she has been doing martial arts for years, one of the reasons she was cast in Charlie’s Angels around the same time.

JarHead0351

you should do a John Wayne movie like McClintock

Wyatt Nuxoll

If you guys ever start watching John Wayne movies , one of the best in my opinion is called The Cowboys it's a really great western . .although the film was made in the 70s and there would be a few things that you guys would have to bleep out

Dragonhunter

That was such a great show. It's sad that it seems kinda forgotten comparerd to The Wire, Sopranos and Breaking Bad.

Trevor S Bright

John Wayne wise, I'd be curious to see them reacting to the original "True Grit". I've only seen the Coen Brothers remake, so I'd like to see it myself sometime. I can't believe that John Wayne won the Best Actor Oscar for playing Rooster Cogburn and Jeff Bridges was nominated for the same role!

simon brouillard

Yeah, his american movies are miss fire because they don’t let him do his thing, insurance is a part of it but mainly they are made by bad directors ( the way that tom cruise circumvented that for his movies is mainly by producing them) now of to rewatch drunken master 🙂

kbobravo

If you were to ever do John Wayne films, I think his best is The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. James Stewart also stars in the film.

Rav Low

Oooh!!! you guys should watch Armor of God and Operation Condor as PEAK jackie stuntwork. Or the Police Story movies!!!!

Sir Jimmothy

I'm pretty sure it's Shanghai Noon cos "High noon" is a big western thing, play on words etc

SpankTheMonk

Coming in super late on this, but just watching Rush Hour and when Jackie Chan’s character is given a tour of Chinese Theatre in LA and Chris Tucker points at John Wayne’s hand prints on the sidewalk- makes you think 🤔 😅

Jay Perry

I think you would like Shanghai Knights.
