Some other fun Guy Ritchie films: Sherlock (2009) with Robert Downey Jnr and The Man From Uncle (2015)

Odd Thomas

Worst advice I've ever been given was to "cheer up, it might never happen" by someone I worked with - the week a family member almost unalived themselves.

Mike FromOz

I have been F5'ing the hell out of my Patreon notifications waiting for this! YESSSS!!! 🧡😍

Shibby

It's 2am, I just finished a busy 10 hour shift, and this is the perfect way to unwind

Mike FromOz

Terrible advice I've been given: "If you treat other people kind and compassionately, even the ones who are doing bad things to you, they'll get to like you and will become great friends!" Sorry, but no. Assholes know how to take advantage of kind-hearted people, with little chance of change or redemption. It just stretches out them being able to hurt you for much longer than just cutting them off completely.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Still one of the best directorial debuts in a long time. Fun and chaotic and witty stuff. Hands down still one of my favourite endings out there too: “Fools Gold” by the Stone Roses playing while having to choose between priceless goods and a phone call and cut to black. Also amazing how many of these actors/crew went on to bigger things from this movie alone

Mike FromOz

Out of complete chance I was listening to Bucketheads "The Bomb" song while waiting for this to become available, checked out the wikipedia page for it, and to my complete surprise, Guy Ritchie co-directed the video for it. Tonight, this movie was meant to be! "...these sounds fall into my miii-iii-iiind..."

Odd Thomas

Matthew Vaughn started out as a producer then became a director. A great film of his is Stardust (2007)

Ginge Tomassi

Just FYI Vinnie Jones is quoted as saying "Immigration has ruined Britain" so yeah, not a nice guy.

Pratchett - The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money. Take boots, for example. ... A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. ... But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while a poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.

Vinny was an experienced football (soccer) defender for Palace when he came upon young phenom Newcastle striker Paul Gascoine. There is a famous picture of Jones defending Gascoine (Gazza) against a corner kick where you can just see their faces and upper torso. Jones is grimacing in anger, and Gascoine is grimacing in agony. Jones is squeezing his nuts !

beecroft adams

Guy Ritchie did two really good Sherlock Holmes films.

Shibby

I'm glad you guys enjoyed this movie. For more like this I highly recommend RocknRolla (directed by Guy Ritchie) and Layer Cake (directed by Matthew Vaughan). IIRC Matthew Vaughan produced Lock Stock and Snatch then went on to direct Layer Cake himself.

Opti_Frog

As a Dwarfer, it's nice to see Danny John-Jules. ❤

Mike FromOz

Both RocknRolla and Layer Cake are great UK Gangster movies. And for more Jason Statham, "The Bank Job" isn't half bad either. Similar kind of vein, just with less cockney gangsterism and more international intrigue.

Dave

If you want a show with a fun criminal element and a similar tone, give The Gentlemen a shot. Both the show and the movie are really fun.

Mike FromOz

What happened with the crooks next door is they broke into the 4 main characters flat after finding the recording device, and found all the cash and weed. So they waited there to ambush them back when they returned. Rory Breaker and his goons were coming to the same place to find out why Nick the Greek's suppliers (the 4 guys) had his weed after his ganja growers were held up, and thus the shootout occurred at the place of the 4 guys, not the crooks. Also, good precognition about the dude going through the wall and finding out what was happening, George! As for the trivia title, you missed out on having "If the trivia turns out to be sour, I ain't the kind of pussy to speak it! You know wot I mean? 😄". Or "The most ping pong trivia in the nuclear sub" 😂

BlindPanda

Rock n Rolla and Layer Cake are a must watch if you want something similar to this movie!

Tenn Seven

So the guy who played Barry the Baptist was Lenny McClean, a real-life London villain and also a bareknuckle boxing champion. He has an autobiography called "The Guv'nor" and it's a great read! Unfortunately he passed away shortly after the movie was released. EDIT: Also, the "music box" music that plays when the pair of thieves encounter Harry in his office is a callback to the Clint Eastwood spaghetti western "For a Few Dollars More". The bad guy in that movie has a pocket watch that plays that tune and he always plays it before killing someone. I really love that Guy Ritchie did that.

pinkdino99

Outstanding score with at outstanding track to finish - Stone Roses - Fool's Gold

pinkdino99

Jones was only supposed to cameo in the scene with the sunbed, but the team were so impressed with him they wrote more scenes for him to be in.

pinkdino99

Barry and Gary were from Liverpool, and are considered "Scousers". There is a severe bias between UK north and south (south = anything south of the M25 London orbital... the further north you get the weirder your name for "bread roll" gets and the more gravy you put on your chips (fries)).

Grandalf

Simone: " I can't do bong rips." Immediately creates the perfect bong rip sound effect. :)

Spacedone

I highly recommend that you check out RocknRolla and especially The Gentlemen, some more of Guy Ritchie's fun crime movies.

Grandalf

For the love of the Allfather, we really need to see The Gentlmen on a poll.

mky

Worst advice: "Expiration dates are just a suggestion. That yogurt should be fine."

Tenn Seven

Yes, the shootout happened in the main characters' apartment, that's where the money and stolen drugs were.

mky

Worst advice: "That skunk looks friendly. Try petting it."

Deserana12

It’s fine advice as you long as you have common sense, shops (can only talk for the UK) have their best before dates be a few days before actual best before dates. This is primarily to save their own skin in case anything backfires. But yeah, if it’s been months, throw it.

Jasbro

Did people think he was ever a nice guy?, he is notoriously one of the most violent football players ever with one of the most iconic photo's of him grabbing another players nuts.

Jasbro

Highly recommend Guy Ritchies newest movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare which stars Henry Cavill amongst others.

Brendan Rafferty

Most useless advice: The club I managed for years closed when we lost our lease and I was between jobs while on a tight budget as head of household. I reached out to industry friends on social media, asking if anyone had any leads Oblivious rich friend (born into money and comfort) seriously suggested I just buy and open my own club.

Moviemuncher

It's such a good film, there's a special edition that has some scene expansions, but this version is just as good. Guy Ritchie is amazing at multi-narrative films, I would recommend RockNRolla if you want to see more of the style but with a different story, different characters (and cast) but about 8 years later.

W T

Vinnie Jones is great for sure. Actually, my favorite role of his might be in a Japanese movie (well worth watching imho) that goes by the name of Survive Style 5+ - can't spoil it, won't spoil it, but Vinnie's great in it.

AJ Lynch

Don't arrive to a job interview early because it makes you seem too eager?

djKENTO

wait… have neither of you seen Cyberpunk Edgerunners? I WANT THAT REACTION! I’D PAY EXTRA FOR THAT!

One thing that's hard not to notice if you've ever played poker in a serious setting is that a pro like Eddie would never look at his hole cards in such a way. He lifts them up high enough that anybody on either side of him could tilt their heads back slightly to see what he's got, not to mention a hidden camera. It's one of those movie things that you have to let go. I've played low level poker in casinos and sometimes I was sitting next to such a fish that I could just move my eyes to see somebody's hand without even having to turn my head. I've never had the opportunity to profit from it, but I've been able to save money by knowing when to fold.

Michael Bourke

So, there isn't really a third movie to follow this and Snatch. The nearest thing would probably be Mean Machine ( a UK version of the American movie The Longest Yard ). It is directed by Matthew Vaughn ( who started out I think as Guy Ritchie's producing partner ). It stars Vinnie Jones and also has Jason Statham in a really fun role plus Jason Flemyng ( Tom ) and Vas Blackwood ( Breaker ) from Lock Stock. BTW you would have already seen Jason Flemyng in most other Matthew Vaughn or Guy Ritchie movies. He was a doorman / goon for Mark Strong in Kick Ass, one of the Gypsies in Snatch and Azazel in X-Men first class to name a few.

Hakuna

Please get the 'The gentlemen' on a poll at some point, another guy ritchie movie of a similar style but more modern :)

Tyler Foster

Really underrated Ritchie movie is The Man From UNCLE. A slick and super-fun adaptation of an old spy show. Highly recommend for a reaction. Less likely for a reaction and even more underrated (and probably somewhat disliked is his unexpectedly philosophical) gangster thriller Revolver. Will also echo the support for RockNRolla. Additionally, his close producer, Matthew Vaughn, became a director as well, and made Layer Cake, which is relatively in the vein of Lock Stock and Snatch.

Sean Hennessy

The talk before the movie got me thinking, do any of your exes watch know about youtube and watch you think?

Grumblefunk

you guys should check out Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla (2008) with Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Gerard Butler

Scoobay

Rock’n’Rolla…The Gentlemen. Change up in casts, more modernised with a focus to appeal to the mainstream but the styles/dialogue remain. I love Rock’n’Rolla.

Scoobay

Rock’n’Rolla is the next Guy Ritchie movie after Snatch, then there’s The Gentlemen. And of course, there’s the Netflix series The Gentlemen, based on the movie. I haven’t seen the movie for the gentlemen but the series is great. Gustavo Fring’s actor (feel bad for not knowing his name) plays a major role. And yeah, someone else mentioned it but before Adam Sandler’s remake of The Longest Yard, there was a British remake called Mean Machine where Vinnie Jones takes the lead and they play soccer instead of football. Before he acted Vinnie was a soccer player, well known for being a little bit rough. There’s a famous picture of him grabbing Paul Gascoigne by his bollocks during a game. He does seem nice as a person, but he wasn’t on the pitch.

A lot of very reputable chefs wash their chicken. It seems bizarre to me, but its not uncommon even among prestigious chefs.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Worst advice I remember being given, I took. Bad times ensued. It's such a long and crazy story, but just to hit the major points, it involved meth, a very manipulative "friend" (actually my cousin), and the worst six months of my life. Started with me wanting to buy some weed for fun, ended with me having to kick an addiction (my fault, I take responsibility for my choices), paying thousands to clear my cousin's debt, then having to stand toe to toe with, and basically bluff, some really pissed off and armed gangsters. The irony to me is that that cousin is the most judgmental, holier than thou pos now, I finally cut him completely off because he called me a traitor for having been a soldier, but I vote in a way he's been told is anti-American. I'm a very forgiving person but that was the final straw. I just dread the day I see his hypocritical ass at a funeral or something because I think I might not be able to resist the urge to knock him out on sight.

REDR58

First time watch for me. Lots of fun. And this is far more comprehensible than Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, despite the accents. Dexter Fletcher (“Soap”) appeared in “Band of Brothers” as one of the American soldiers named John Martin. Fletcher also appeared in the children’s TV show comedy/drama called “Press Gang.” While ostensibly a kids’ show, it is very well-written and can be enjoyed by adults and I highly recommend checking it out. It ran from 1989 to 1993. Fletcher is also a film director. Trudie Styler, who you mentioned by name briefly and who was the executive producer of the film, has been married to Sting since 1992.

Mike FromOz

I remember 'Press Gang'! I had such a crush on Julia Sawalha (who went on to act as Saffron (Saffy) in 'Absolutely Fabulous'. And yeah, I remember Dexter in that as well.

JamesJ

The actor who played Soap (the chef) portrayed StSgt. Johnny Martin in Band of Brothers. Because BoB is how I found Cinebinge, I felt compelled to mention that.

Farbod

If you like Snatch and Lock Stock, you should watch RocknRolla and The Gentlemen. Both great Guy Ritchie films. Revolver is great too, but its different. A bit more psycological... All three are really fantastic.

SpankTheMonk

Spy - 2015, Jason Stratham at his finest 🤌

SpankTheMonk

If George and Simone want to read the source material it’s a graphic novel, easy peasy.

Jesus F Christ

Suggesting the Matthew Vaughan-directed Layer Cake (2004), starring James Bond, Dumbledore, Soap from Lock Stock, and Transporter Chief Miles O'Brien. It's an excellent Brit-crime flick. It's a little more serious than Lock Stock and Snatch, with a slicker directing style and a superb soundtrack. Furthermore, it's one of my favorites.

Mike FromOz

Fun fact: In the directors commentary of that movie, Vaughan talks about how Craig wanted to do the scene where he poses all around Meaney's apartment with the gun to be something like you'd see in a Bond movie. A few years later, and Craig gets picked for the role. Vaughan took complete credit for that 😂

Classic helpful advice in a game loading screen - If you find yourself dying a lot, try getting better at the game.

Jacob King

Matthew Vaughn and Guy Ritchie have an interesting dynamic. Vaughn was the producer on Lock Stock meaning he was the money connection but also the professional face of the duo while Ritchie was the wild talent. In the published screenplay Ritchie talks about how Vaughn didn’t even swear when they first got together but he was the one who made it all work. Layer Cake is an excellent gangster movie but it’s very cool and slick. It romanticises the underworld while being very self aware. Ritchie’s best movies are complete farces. No one is cool or has a grasp on what’s happening. Definitely watch RocknRolla but only after Layer Cake because they’re very much in dialogue with each other.

Rupert Purcat

I would recommend the next one Rock'n'Rolla, but also Layer Cake with a young Daniel Craig.

Mark Alex Leach

Watching the drug dealers scene with the girl sitting on the couch, was anyone else reminded of the scene in Fallout when the Ghoul raided them?

Starman Deluxe

This is the first time I noticed, the cockney guy with the subtitles in the bar, was the Cat from Red Dwarf

Rav Low

WHOA I GOT NAME DROPPED IN THIS ONE :3
