Going off the poster I'll give a cheeky recommendation for The Long Good Friday, starring Mario from the 1993 Super Mario Brothers film (sorry Bob!)

Aaaaayyyyyyyy! I love this movie. It's even better on rewatch, because it moves SO FAST that you miss a lot the first time through. The reason people say to watch this before "Snatch" is because there's a lot of reused film techniques and references. For example, in "Snatch" Vinnie Jones' character is INTRODUCED smashing somebody's head in a car door, while here his character does it at the climax. Alan Ford, who narrates this film, plays "Brick Top" the villain in "Snatch". None of it is plot critical or anything, it just helps you understand a lot of context if you already saw this. I love how, because they're all at the start of their film careers, a lot of the actors play characters so different from their usual roles. Jason Statham's "Bacon" isn't a fighter or action guy, he's a street hustler who can't even knock out a guy who's already halfway unconscious. Vinnie Jone's "Big Chris" is a tough guy, but he's calm and methodical instead of the usual screaming hothead.

Is it okay if I refer to Simone as Rapunzel now?

rictus grin

the actor that played J ( one of the dope farm guys) played the lead in the rather fun Young Sherlock Holmes

rictus grin

Lenny McLean who played Barry the Baptist was a real if reformed gangster who started out working for the Kray twins, he unfortunately died from cancer not long before the films release

Twisty Twitties

Im definitely biased, but British Comedy is on another level.

for more Vinnie Jones checkout the TV series The Gentlemen a spin off from the movie of the same name

“Alans” = Alan Whickers = Knickers

You need to search for Vinnie Jones football highlights on YT.

I'm glad y'all liked it! You can definitely spot the DNA of Snatch and the rest of Ritchie's crime films in it. Highly recommend RocknRolla (still waiting for The Real RocknRolla...) and The Gentlemen to anyone who enjoyed this one

Eagerly awaiting the uncovered version of this

Since you just watched "For A Few Dollars More", I hopped back in time to point out that the soundtrack tune that plays when the two stick-up guys burst in on Hatchet Harry is the same tune from the pocket watch that Indio (and Mortimer) has. Just like Indio uses that song as the countdown to draw for a duel, here we see Harry only starts to aim his gun as soon as the music stops.

The DVD for this movie has a primer on the rhyming slang used in the film.. This movie if not my all-time fav, definitionally is in my top 5....
