Félicitations, George :)

Can't wait to watch this tomorrow, sadly no time today! Waited so long for this, it's the one thing I dislike about the channel, that u sometimes take years to finish a trilogy or franchise.

Odd Thomas

The weakest of the trilogy for me (Hiccup's mum barely gets any lines) but the ending is good. Please watch Nimona or Weathering With You next for animated.

Based on the look of the trailer I have mixed feelings about the live action HtTYD. It's cool Gerard Butler is in it playing Stoick, (I'm less conviced about the casting of Hiccup). The main problem I have, though, is they seem to be recreating the animated movie nearly shot for shot, and the dragons just look like they were ripped straight from the animated movie itself (think live actors mixed with the animated dragons). So, yeah. What's the point?

Odd Thomas

Lilo & Stitch is fun and it's by the same director! I'm still not 100% sold on the HTTYD live action but again it's the same director returning & I've seen a lot of practical explosions were used, which is cool.

So if you're wanting more dragon fun, if you haven't already seen it, Dragonheart (1996) is a really good movie. There is also a really good 80s movie called Dragonslayer (1981). Another really good film. Regarding the live action, I have heard mixed feelings - mostly bad. Some contraversy about it is some of the characters (mostly about Astrid) don't really look how they look in the animated movies. The actress playing Astrid looks like her but the main problem some have had is she isn't blonde. Which I am sorry to say I also fall into that group. I mean Hiccup really looks like he does in the original films- why couldn't she be blonde like she is in the original? I don't know one the one from whatt little I have seen it's like they are but are not paying attention to the little details. In a way almost half-assing it though. From what I have read the live action is going to be a remake- it will be the first movie in live action. While the idea of the live action is appealing - it also just seems and feels unnecearry. I couldn't quite tell from the images but some of the other characters don't all feel like they look how they did in the original. Not sure but if that is the case I can only ask: why? I for one love the three animated movies and I won't get too excited about this new remake. I wasn't a fan of the Disney live action remakes - I doubt with the way things are going in Hollywood these days that I'll like this live action remake from Dreamworks.

The main problem that people have with the Astrid casting (aside from her not being blonde) is that they race swapped her for the light skinned black girl from the first episode of the Last of Us show (where they race swapped her there too). And it seems like she was the only person that they race swapped as far as the trailer showed from what I've seen. I don't really see a problem, but people do have a problem with this, especially since it's a movie about vikings whether it's fantasy or not, people think that there shouldn't be a person of color playing a viking no matter if she's a ginger and her skin is light enough to pass as white

I really like Dragonslayer, although the acting is a bit cringe. Another dragon one is "A Flight of Dragons". Features voices of John Ritter and James Earl Jones. Great little fantasy cartoon! Simone would love it.

I truly don't get why everyone complains about the villain. Not every movie has to be villain-centric. This movie is about so much more than a villain.

Is this your first Canadian driver's license, George? If so, congrats! Just guessing you got a brand new license since you had a written test; going from my US experience we only have to pass a written test once when getting a learner's permit, then getting the full license is a practical road test, then after that renewing is just vision tests and such. But Canadians, correct me if there are other situations you guys have to take a written test.

DM DC

Cool, I hadn't heard of that film. But John Ritter and James Earl Jones, sounds awesome. I'd be willing to see that.

DM DC

I myself don't have an issue with the actress as much. I would prefer Astrid be blonde. But there is also this: Can she pull off the same attitude? I have seen before where an actor/actress is portraying a character in a remake and they just don't pull it off as well as the original. I'm wondering if she can really make me see Astrid. I know that one really should see it as it's own thing but something as cherished as How to Train Your Dragon - it's kinda of impossible to not compare the original to the remake.

dys

"the main problem some have had is she isn't blonde" and you would be just as unhappy if she was a white actress with brown hair? "why couldn't she be blonde like she is in the original?" why is the character's hair color so important?

Hahaha. Simone - super-cute, really funny and an all-round great person, and to compensate, has OCD when it comes to tests. You are a genuinely good pair to spend time with.

As far as I can tell, the live action uses exactly the same script. Weird, but curious.
