This is Drunken Master 2 (1994). It was marketed as "Legend of the Drunken Master" in the US because no-one had seen the first one.

One of my favourite Jackie Chan movies. All of them are classics. The fact that he does his own stunts is incredible.

Wong Fei Hung was a real historical folk hero, but yes, far more stories/deeds are attributed to him in stories in the last 100 years. Also, the director who left was the older master who fought Jackie under the train, and yes he was a well known martial artist himself, so I wouldn't say he was scared. P.S. Just spotted the name Bryan Cranston in the credits as additional voice talents.

I am VERY on board with celebrating Chinese New Year on the channel as an annual tradition. Any Jacki is, of course, great, but I would also LOVE to see In the Mood for Love here (one of the best films ever made) and any of The Heroic Three films. 😁

I agree you don't need to have seen the first movie to understand this one. I actually saw this first and didn't even realize there was a proceeding movie.

I classify this almost as a remake instead of a sequel. The film style and story are so different that I can't reconcile them as being the same story.

George - speaking of wuxia, have you seen the show "Into the Badlands" (2015). An American tv show, set in a dystopian future, heavily inspired by wuxia. It stars and is executive produced by Daniel Wu (New Police Story).

Oh, speaking of Wong Fei-hung and Wong Kei-ying, I recommend the movie "Iron Monkey". A fantastic Hong Kong martial arts film from 1993.
