Perfection. Thanks again for doing this, George & Dad <3 Time to install good old Rogue Squadron and shoot some probe droids. Have a great weekend everybody!

JLee

These are so great! Thanks for the extra effort in translating for us. I'll never hear or read Tauntaun now without thinking "camel."

:) Watching this always such a treat! I LOOOOOOVDE me some Star Wars! So, watching these with anybody for the first time is always a huge treat for me. :) Being able to introduce people to something that I love so dearly always feels nice. :) <3 I forgot, are we planning to watch all of them with your dad? The classic films as well as the newer ones, 1 - 3 then 7 - 9? If not, I totally understand but I don't remember so I'm asking. :) lmao, yeah - tauntauns are camels more or less. lmao, that bit's hilarious! Love the kiss between Luke and Leia, driving Han to jealousy. xD Love how your father respects the people who designed the ships! Didn't know that about the subtitles. :/ That would be a bit confusing, yeah. Sorry that it's like that! Yeah, they're obviously similar to the Nazi uniform. Sith = Nazi, pretty plain and clear. This scene always brings back FUN memeories for me that I had as a kid! :) I remember playing a game where they had you fly the snowspeeders around and firing the cable to wrap their feet! So much fun! It was always super tough, though! :D The massive ones are called AT ATs, AT STs are the smaller ones. C-3PO has purpose! He has information! xD I can't help but defend the character. :P I've always been a fan of him. hahaha lol, watching these with the subtitles is always a challenge! xD I'm always torn between watching the action onscreen or what ya'll are saying. lol, at least I can type without looking at the keyboard at all! :P lol, just saying - if you both weren't watching something so awesome I don't know if I'd be able to watch along like this and be able to enjoy it. :) R2 was a yummy snack for that beast. Well.. not so yummy, then. xD "Made of metal" is right! hahahaha hahahaha, I've always loved how flirty they were, Han and Leia, I mean. Love Yoda! "Wars not make one great!" :) He always makes me smile. Love your dad's initial take on Yoda! :) Ah - your dad picked up on that. :) They tried to keep this more approachable for children. lmao, then right after they have a romance scene between Han and Leia. No, George - a fully robotic being cannot use the force. Using the force requires life force or a source to life to use - without that it's unusable. There are droids that have gained the ability to use the force, but they were once lifeforms, similar to Vader. That quote is always in my memory! "Do or do not, there is no try!" lol, and Yoda's bit on size not mattering always pepped me up as well. I'm a short dude. Always have been. :) So hearing/seeing Yoda say those things made me feel good! :) Love the triumphant music in this scene! Always nice seeing Yoda show Luke what's what. hahahaha, love Lando! Love seeing how much Leia cares for Luke in that scene! "But you are not a Jedi yet!" I always thought you had to be a Jedi first before becoming Sith as a kid. Love your dad's impression on this scene! "Everything is so realistic!" Really makes me happy that he's enjoying the movie so much! No, Han isn't there. Guessing your dad forgot that he was frozen in carbonite and taken by the bounty hunter. Loved your dad's face when Vader revealed the truth! It looked like his eyes went wide for a moment! :D Chewie's a bug loveable creature! :D I'm excited for when you both watch Return of the Jedi! This is many people's favorite. :) lmao, love your dad's thoughts on the characters! Really makes me smile. :) Watching this with you, this morning has been such a treat! Being able to watch and experience this with your dad is incredibly fun! :) I don't think that I've ever had the opportunity to introduce these movies to someone else for their first time. Really has to feel like such an honor! :)

Srsly tho, when does your dad launch his own YT channel?

The look on your dad’s face when the snow creature attacked Luke was priceless! I love all the small details of the sets on Hoth, you can see how the passages were carved out of the ice with the laser marks on the walls , or whatever it was they used to cut through. The splattered oil or hydraulic fluid or whatever it is on the wall. Power cables and wiring snaking along the passageways and the plates laid on the floor to walk on instead of just bare ice. It all just looks real and lived-in. The movie was filmed in Norway on real snowy areas, as well as sets elsewhere in England. R2-D2 is an astromech, one of a line of sort of plug-in mobile droids that can interface with all sorts of spacecraft and aren’t really intended to converse with humans. Kind of an odd oversight, but evidently many humans can learn to understand them like Luke. C-3P0 is one of a line of “protocol droids” used as translators and such.

And they again, just like in Tunisia filming the first one, had to deal with wild weather conditions, this time heavy snow storms. Some scenes were shot right in front of the hotel of the film crew. Actors outside, crew inside filming. Btw all extras were locals. All the rebels fighting outside the base. These guys must have some stories to tell :)

Great reaction from your Dad and especially loved how he analogised the idiom of the dragon with the importance of the side characters in this film. My personal fave is A New Hope but this movie isn’t just the best SW film - it’s up there with some of the greatest movies ever made. Also huge kudos for the translation effort! Was a good rewatch after a few years since viewing this one

FranciscoGios

Yeah even George Lucas said while filming the Hoth battle they had trouble telling the Finns(locals) actors what was going on on a certain scene because they didn’t had no one to intrepid for them 😂

FranciscoGios

You can tell George’s dad is having a blast watching Star Wars after Star Wars 👍!!

Shibby

Another great reaction. This is one of my favourite movies. Your dad is spot on about R2-D2, C-3P0, and Chewbacca giving the movie extra flavour and making it feel like you really are in a galaxy far far away and not just future earth.

BangDroid

Having a blast lol I see what you did there You might also say his reaction was set to stunned at times

I love your dad's take on Chewie and the droids! He's absolutely right. Without them, I don't think Star Wars would be the massive franchise that it is. They pulled in all the kids, and the kids, like me, grew up loving these films.
