A reminder to everyone that Polls are only there to help prioritize what to watch first.

It is NOT to decide what gets deleted and placed into Room 101.

Every movie that appears in polls is recommended by you guys, and will get watched at some point, the polls just help determine which ones first and which ones later.

This means that even if what you personally prefer at the moment doesn't win, it will still be watched at a later date.

We're all adults here, it's okay to sometimes not get instant gratification.

Comments

Jean-Dominic Lapointe

Man, people got angry in the “spooooky” poll. We’re all here to have fun, people.

Rifendoor

The fact that you have to make this post AGAIN is just sad. Some people just have no patience whatsoever.

Dawson Brownell

Imagine getting heated about a patreon poll

Śéáń

You should make a "Banish to Room 101" poll just to see chaos reign in the comments. Any movies/shows with the more... intense fandoms. Watch over it like that Elmo burning gif.

DonkyDave

I’d be fine if comments were disabled on the polls, the amount of crying that goes on from a small minority each week is just unreal.

FWPJR.

I can’t believe you have to remind people about this again, I’ve been subscribed for over a year and this has to be the third or fourth time you two have had to remind people of this. We all have different opinions and will vote for what we like, if we all thought the same it would be boring and we’d all vote the exact same. And that’s not fun at all.

Roger Davies

Booooo i want my gratification instantly dang nab it.

Texas J

Wait... hold on a second. Are all of you daring to imply that those things happening on the computer and by extension on the internet are not the end-all, be-all of human existence?

Bmac Tattoo

I'll be sulking in the corner... No instant gratification... 😭🤪

Crawnch!

I guess this is why the other channels I’m subscribed to don’t have polls. What a pain in the ass.

robodong

honestly im surprised they still choose to do it, to deal with all these tantrums on a weekly basis. all so everyone gets to voice their preference consistently.

Patrick Brownfield

I’m surprised people don’t read that text in every single poll. Keep doing what you’re doing Cinebinge, I’m here for it!

Inkpendude

Sometimes people don't vote for your favorite movie because they have never seen it...not because they are dumb and you are very smart.

Jon Johns

Please enjoy each poll equally.

Jay Willis

*best Dr Evil impression* You just....don't get it, do you George? /sarcasm

Eric Mc Daniel

This is why we can't have nice things

Reid Mclellan

People are so ridiculous about MOVIE POLLS seriously guys? Though I will admit shows not winning is alot more painful then movie polls for me

Spence Lee

Every time I see one of these I go back to the previous poll and look thru the comments extra hard!

Popsmcgraw

Excuse me I was heated before the poll how dare you judge me. If I think thin mints is the best girl scout cookie then I should be allowed to tell everyone my opinion. Wait stoner poll duh I got sidetracked by cookies. What's going on?

Boyan Konov

very much agree with what is written. My only complaint is that due to the demo of the channel poll basically always chose the same/similar movies. I would guess its 24-30 young people from the US who would typically vote for movies in that market which kills every reaction to most foreign films or cinema outside the US. If you put La Heine for example in an action poll its not beating a movie like Taken just due to how the audience of the channel is. And for the exclusively foreign movie poll its down to what got a big release in the US or a popular internet fandom and not quality/importance/novelty etc.

Carlos H

Getting angry at your weed movie not being picked is very un-dude like.

Robb

I would be happy if I get Everest 2015 in a poll at least been asking for it for ages if it doesn't win the poll then it is what it is Hope to see it in a poll soon 🤞

DonkyDave

This is also why G&S very wisely don’t have a discord because the amount of drama would be insane

Texas J

To be fair to your comparison, though, Taken is a shockingly good movie.

DonkyDave

Newsflash: polls are by definition popularity contests. They also only decide one movie a week…

Happy Hanukkah

If they have never seen my favorite movie, it must be because they are dumb. QED.

robodong

its also just movies, not a fricken election where age groups matters that much lol.

Texas J

Tagalongs...not Thin Mints. - Just saying.

Matthew Maxon

Hot Tub Time Machine is a bad movie & painful to watch but whatever. Im not going to be upset if it wins. I just won't watch the review.

Mastervodo

But... but.... The one I like is clearly the best and must be watched immediately! I AM THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE!

Gryff

Youre a pole with a purpose. F I T E M E G E O R G E

Gryff

^This is the appropriate response to the situation.

Rich

It sucks this post was necessary

Tay Schumaker

Agree with everything you said here, other than that you will watch everything eventually. I don't know how many movies you have in your spreadsheet, but I imagine it's in the thousands. I don't think it's actually possible for you to watch literally everything

JiggyTurtle

If I don't tie my self worth to movie intellect and parasocial weirdness, what's the point?

Phil Robinson

Dear god, what is wrong with some people? There's a difference between a well tempered disagreement, and stamping your feet like a 4 year old because you can't have a lollipop. Beyond pathetic and entitled. Can't believe you're having to say this again. If this were my channel, I'd just instantly ban people like that. Don't care if they are paying, I'd take the hit - I wouldn't want them in my community.

Happy Hanukkah

I am *not* saying that I don't want polls. But, what we have here is a "sausage factory" issue. I generally join a Patreon only if the creators have a solid track record of picking movies I approve of (and I leave if they are clearly switching tracks). This means that any individual poll is unimportant. Yes, it might be slightly aggravating seeing a movie that I am convinced is the One Right Choice losing to a much inferior candidate, but I wouldn't be here if the overall product was not to my liking.

Jon Johns

(I believe that the actress who plays miss Casey is ethnically of Tibetan heritage. Does George know that? Would he care? 🤣)

A Homeless Dorito

How dare you not pick the movies I carefully recommend to you. Will someone somewhere consider my fragile feelings? I’ve been here for 22 and a half years and never once come across a problem such as this.

Jason R Carpenter

I will perform Sudoku. Many, many pages of Sudoku.

BangDroid

Forgive me for the harm I have caused this world. None may atone for my actions but me and only in me shall their stain live on. I am thankful to have been caught, my fall cut short by those with wizened hands. All I can be is sorry, and that is all I am.

Happy Hanukkah

Just remember you can't start without me, kemosabe.

BangDroid

Please vote for each poll candidate equally

Jeff K.

I'm so glad that I binged that show and now understand this reference.

Jeff K.

Ok but important question: what KIND of lollipop?

Jeff K.

It also sucks that this post, or other iterations, are necessary so damned often. I feel like it's every couple months George has to remind people to not be dickbags.

Daniel Bjork

Would it really even be the internet if people weren’t getting personally offended by arbitrary polls voted on by complete strangers?

Jon Johns

If they all tie, they have to watch them all, right? 😂

j c

Bullshit, George. The polls are here to inject chips into our bloodstream and 5G into our brains. I'M ON TO YOU.

Richard Burrell

Rabble!! Rabble rabble rabble!! Some of the comments in the polls are wild. You must have a good laugh at them!

Johanna Caulfield

Who the fuck is acting in such a way as to warrant reminders like this?

Mo's Not Mortal

Instant gratification does sound nice though

Daniel Smith

Sounds like we need a poll….

RichieRich

“We’re all adults here” lol sometimes I wonder

Mastervodo

You are speaking my light language.

Kyuzou

i'll be honest, i'm still not even sure where/how i'm supposed to suggest movies

Florian

I think best is beneath polls itself. But George mentioned, that he reads all the comments and transfers the reccomendations into a spredsheet.

Cartoons ReAct

every comment can be a recommendation, but don't become to obnoxious or they could avoid your recommendation

Ciarra Jade

Older sure but adults might be a stretch 😅 Instant gratification tho 😏..

Phil Robinson

See, this is why a benign dictatorship can be more agreeable than the illusion of democracy. I can decide which lollipop you will be supplied with - you're all welcome to go off and find a different one, but you will come to the realisation that MY lollipop was the right one all along. (It's a sherbet lollipop by the way, sorry I'm British, and if you don't have those delicacies in your country of residence, then you need to rise up and take arms).

Connor McNamara

Didn't you just say this like a couple weeks ago? Or at least something like this?

Steven Cavanagh

It's not a Movie, but I strongly recommend Amazon's Secret Level Anthology Series, it's from the creators of Love, Death & robots, and all based on video games. The First episode is D&D

james repka

Awww... But I want it now!

Jeff K.

I'm sorry but you're clearly mistaken. How can YOU be the center of the universe, when I know with certainty that I am, in fact, the universe's center?

Jeff K.

I enjoy Hot Tub Time Machine for what it is, but yeah, if you don't care to watch a movie on the schedule... just don't watch it. Like, this week there's nothing on the movie front that appeals to me, so I'm just gonna... not watch those reactions. It's a wild concept for some, I know.

Adam

I really appreciate all the work George and Simone put into this. Their patreon is so consistent and much better organized than other reactors I used to subscribe to. I especially love the fact that they honor all recommendations and do their best to watch them. I can't imagine how long the list is.

Cinebinge

Hi Kyuzou, you can suggest movies to us via DM or in the comments of the weekly polls. We get 1 email every time a comment is made so we see all of them. We then take each recommendation and add them to our backlog, if it already exists in the backlog, the accompanying score of each movie goes up by 1 (unless the its a repeated recommendation by the same person, so spamming something does not improve its score).

Jeff I.

"Please try to enjoy each poll option equally. Now, your outtie likes watching Cinebinge reactions. Your outtie..."

robodong

fair. and its also important to remember polls only dictate 1 of 3 movies each week. and they always try to vary the other 2 of the week, as well as doing second place from time to time. so its never 3 of the same kind of thing in a week. like the scooby doo that everyone lost their minds over was paired with wild robot and mad max, 2 very different films/genre/age

robodong

and they have banned quite a few people before too. like lets not forget this isnt some voting system in a government, this is a private business, they can choose to not accept customers lol. so imagine being so unpleasant that a business rather not take your money then to deal with you any longer

CT

Can you address the criticism that it's usually comedies that win the polls? Any thoughts on that?

Cinebinge

our best guess is that the real world is pretty grim at the moment, life in general is hard and a laugh is maybe preferable than shed more tears? in which case, we then have to ask why is having a laugh a bad thing that requires criticism. that being said, we would say its also important to consider if "comedies usually win" is actually the case, or if its selective memory as negative events such as polls that didnt go a certain way tend to stick out. an example within this community of ours is the "its always Old/New movies that win". both have been said in equal amount of times, just depending on whether an old or new movie won that week. it is also possible that trends come in waves, something out there in the zeitgeist reminded people of certain feelings/genres/movies so that becomes a temporary preference. ie, "hey this show/game/movie/event was really enjoyable, i want more of that or similar to that!"

beefjerkywizard

Have you two thought about a random draw of one of your Patreon members and they get to pick the movie? Other channels have done this and it seems kind of fun

beefjerkywizard

That said you two are far and above the best in the game (imho) so if it ain't broke don't fix it

Jeff K.

You may have a different name on here, but you can't fool me, Veruca Salt!

Phil Robinson

@cheese bagel - oh of course, completely understand - which is why they should be even more strict with the ban hammer. Those types of people do not deserve the content here. It's a minority I'm sure, but they've no business being such c**ts about everything. People being soft on silly little kids never teaches them anything, it just normalises it. The only sanction is to teach them a lesson by telling them, in no uncertain terms - stop it. Not here, and not anywhere.

Shane Darcy

Many times. The children need reminding. I’d just let em stew in chaos, personally

Jeff I.

That's been asked before in one of their AMA videos. IIRC, they don't want to do anything where it's just one Patron deciding what gets watched on the channel. Same reason they don't have a membership tier with a few spots for people to request particular movies for extra money.

beefjerkywizard

That makes total sense and it is as fair as the Internet can be

Brandon Meng

Do extra likes on comments with recommendations make any difference? I've been spamming the same 5 movies every week for the last two years. Sometimes they get a few likes, sometimes they don't. I'm trying to gauge how obnoxious I've been and embarrassed I should be.

Jeff K.

Smoke signals, but only on the third Tuesday of months that have 30 days as long as it coincides with the moon being in waning gibbous.

Faidra Galaxy

"It's okay to sometimes not get instant gratification." Couldn't agree more on it. You two clearly care about what you do and there's literally millions of movies out there that it's unrealistic for people to expect certain ones within a certain time frame or something. At the end of the day, it is YOUR channel. Keep doing what you love, Simone and George!

cincassette

I recall you mentioning that you’re hesitant to create a CineBinge Discord due to hostility in the community. However, I think a well-moderated Discord could help foster a more positive and engaged environment over time. Patreon comments don’t seem well-suited for meaningful discussion, whereas Discord could encourage more thoughtful, level-headed conversations. While disagreements would still happen, real-time discussions would likely lead to more amicable and constructive exchanges. It also helps to humanise the community. People will feel much more like real individuals rather than faceless usernames. There could be off-topic conversations about our favourite movies and shows. We can better understand other peoples tastes and why they differ from our own, and even broaden our own taste in film and TV. Discord would also make it easier to set clear rules and to enforce them... Maybe this is a Utopian or idealistic mindset, but I thought I'd just put my thoughts out there.

Zach McBride

It's crazy that this post has to be made. Then I remember it's the internet.

Mark McConnell

I understand what you’re saying BUT MY MOVIE MUST WIN!!!! Wah!!! Wah!!!😩 😭 I’m not saying you guys are lying. I’m sure you aren’t cause I’ve seen it quickly devolve in chat but it’s still hard to believe people get that serious about something so trivial. Maybe it’s because I’ve rarely seen anyone ever react to the movie i always recommend (Spielberg’s A.I.) so i’m used to losing, lol. I think what it really is, is that I like you guys and unless i REALLY don’t like the movie you’re watching, i’ll watch anything you react to so I don’t care who wins. I like movies, that’s the fun part, and you feel like friends. That’s why i watch. Well, Simone being titanically cute probably has something to do with it. 😂

JarHead0351

You will bow to General Zod -- lol Hey I like the two of you, you will pick a few which I won't watch since I most likely seen and won't watch again, but you pick must more which I do like watching with you both...

TomServo

I believe part of the issue may stem from the fact seemingly often enough there are some movies that don't fit entirely within the genre of the poll. Personally I just don't care that much, but I've seen it ruffle some feathers. If I could snap my fingers and play god for a sec, ideally we would have a spreadsheet of 100 movies of different genres, and everyone would get to cast 10 votes to allocate for any movie on that list. Rinse and repeat every month. I dunno, maybe that's a dumb idea..

Jordan Aiken

I just want you guys to watch Dark City and Toys, but they are such cult films they probably might never be a top voted film. If less than 25% of your subscribers have seen a particular film, it would seem to be pushed back indefinitely. You could do polls of the least voted for films. Other than those two films I don't mind what you watch you two are awesome.

Joshua White

I'll gladly vote for these when they come down the pike. For a moment, though, I was thinking you meant The Toy, with Richard Pryor. Man, what a trip that would be.

Steve Mercier

But I waaaaaaaaaaaaant it...waaAAAAHHhhhhh...okay, I'm better now.

AC10

The fact this is even worth the time to talk about, again, sucks and highlights the fact society today has a lot to improve on. Literally everyone here has paid to be here to watch movies and shows with two lively and fun and entertaining people that love watching movies and shows because we ourselves love watching movies and shows, so much so, that a lot of us here have already watched every movie and show we can find ourselves and just wanna re-watch them with others that share our passion because we are bored and just wanna enjoy life more. On the one hand... An entire group of just passionate people stuck in a room together are bound to disagree with each other about many things... But not realizing the fact that you are both passionate about the same thing is what caused the disagreement in the first place is what needs worked on. Let's all agree to disagree more and enjoy everything more. The amount of new movies and shows I've only ever heard of by being a part of this community (and others similar) and/or the ones I've heard of and wrongly thought I would never enjoy is noteworthy (Avatar the last Airbender animation as an adult anyone??). Ok ok ok... A massive thunderstorm is now rattling my windows.... Let me go check the weather alerts. Later nerds. 😬

DJS302

It's understandable that sometimes we may need reminders, not just from the people who host their Patreon and their guidelines, but also from supporters, old and new, being encouraging and respectful of what the rules are and how to be understanding when making requests, and so forth. Otherwise we may risk losing privileges or worse case scenario losing this channel. Hopefully this is just a pattern of two steps forward and one step back, and not the opposite.

DJS302

Agreed, at times it can certainly feel like it that's for sure. Just gotta hold steadfast, be respectful, understanding, but firm. At the end of the day it's their channel, and they get to set their boundaries. It's simply nice being able to try different genres and sharing it with others on here, first time watchers or avid fans.

DJS302

Agreed. Hopefully the majority of us who are understanding and respectful of the Cinebinge community guidelines are able to outweigh those causing conflict, so George or Simone don't feel the need to heavily restrict our ability to interact on here.

Jpsynergy

The fact that we did eventually get Sunshine and ya'll loved it should be enough. I hope it gets better. Generally poll comments are something I avoid or I'll just post support for a movie I like. No need to not be civil about it or center it all around what you want or expect. Just be nice.

Jay Davis

For some reason, I thought this post was about my stripper career in the early 90s: The Porpoise of Poles

nossieboy

You two should definitely watch Drop Dead Fred…

fromage

I'd say that it's obvious that humanity hasn't evolved enough to understand how these polls work and we should just completely remove them. Then you wouldn't have to feel forced to make posts like this and the "Please don't fight" posts that people either don't heed or don't read but just use it as an opportunity to suggest/demand a movie you should watch. Case in point: half the comments in this post.

AC10

I agree with what you said 100%. Thank you for articulating it better than I could.

Tom Ekstrand

Veruca Salt say "I want it now!"

Mike FromOz

We should all be happy that this channel has a diversity of films that appeals to a wide section of people, so that everyone can find something to have fun with. Counterpoint: Will you take us to Mount Splashmore? Will you take us to Mount Splashmore? Will you take us to Mount Splashmore? Will you take us to Mount Splashmore? Will you take us to Mount Splashmore?

Nathan

I do find it so strange how people get annoyed or angry in the comments A it's free B I know you'll always get round to watching something they like c they can all watch it via a another reaction channel 🤷.

Jeff Norwood-Brown

No. Delete the losing films off the list and all those who voted for them. It’s only fair. Mwah ha hahaha.

DonkyDave

"whereas Discord could encourage more thoughtful, level-headed conversations" - I can only presume you are trolling

Vengeance

I’d like to know if likes add to the count as well. I’ve seen some movies get recommended and the comment gets liked by 15/20 people and never see it on a poll. Maybe it’s hard to count if the likes are from different people if it’s a repeated comment? Just curious if only replies agreeing count.

Eric Haines

Awesome! I would love an Ozark deep dive into the series!

Be Human

Some movie ideas! Layer Cake Lucky Number Slevin Natural Born Killers The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Happy Hanukkah

"it's okay to sometimes not get instant gratification." True enough, but respectfully, it has been *two!* *days!* since you've said this! We are *way!* past "instant gratification!!!" Where's my movie?!?!?!?!?!?!

Mark Messer

Yes! Same here. I’m always like, no way people are acting like this and then I’m always disappointed that I’m wrong lol

cairn gray

You guys should watch ravenous anyone with me !

John Every

This is my only issue with trying to recommend a cult film. The audiences that will have already seen them is obviously smaller in comparison to these others movies that had largely publicity and name recognition. Fair is fair obv but to me it just makes it seem like some movies are just gonna be stuck in voting hell lol

Jordan Aiken

I mean Toys with Robin Williams, Joan Cusack and LL Cool J.

pedantech

While I agree with the general idea, that people shouldn't get all twisted out of shape over the results, not all the movies will be seen in the end. There will be a point where the channel ends and movies are left over. Maybe I'm being too pedantic.

Texas J

You didn't ask me, but I'm going to give my opinion anyway. Most horror movies suck.

gfixler

The tough part is that people always vote for the good/best stuff, so the bad stuff keeps slipping through. As we head into the future, the remainders will be more and more of the residue left behind. Film lovers/reaction watchers all fail The Stanford Marshmallow Experiment. We're already seen 7 of the first 10 of AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movies: 1. Citizen Kane 2. Casablanca 3. The Godfather 4. Gone with the Wind 5. Lawrence of Arabia 6. The Wizard of Oz 9. Schindler's List If we keep going at this rate, we're going to be through all the really good stuff within a decade. All we'll have then is Reefer Madness (1936), Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964), The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies (also 1964; it was a weird year), and Bat Pussy (1973).

Michael M.

I feel you're pedantic to an expected level, given your name

Richard Thrust

There are a bunch of indie and non-Western films that I think are amazing, but I also think won't get views for George and Simone. (For the record I think Dark City is pretty popular - they will get to it eventually.) Sometimes we have to simply accept that what we personally want doesn't work for other people.

TheGemHead

I feel like you guys put out the same poll twice. And when Requiem for a Dream won over Ratatouille, you didn't like the result, so you re-posted the poll. I could be very wrong, but that's what it feels like.

Cinebinge

Nope, all posts automatically notifies all patrons so everyone would receive 2 poll notifications if we were to do that. More so, it would be pointless to do that as it would just be easier for us to not do polls all together if the what patrons vote for can be overridden. Why would we go through the trouble to do the polls and then discard it, there by angering all those who voted, when we can simply just simply not do polls? In the entire history of the channel we've only ever deleted 2 polls, both times were due to mistakes that needed to be corrected immediately.

TheGemHead

That makes a lot of sense. In that case, I think my phone notifications might have just been going haywire those few months ago. Thank you for responding. I hope you guys have an awesome day. 😊
