Not a fan of the 5th film. It’s just not a good action film. Lots of shaky-camera work and quick edits that don’t make for a cohesive film. Also, unlike the dynamic between Justin Long and Willis that makes this film as funny and entertaining, Willis’ dynamic with Jim Courtney in the 5th film is unconvincing and lackluster. A lot of it feels forced. Even for as ridiculous and absurd this one becomes there was still a McClane everyday man quality that’s absent in the 5th film. You’d be better off having an action poll of better films than watching the 5th film, but that’s just me.

My smartassery cannot help but point out, money is also accepted in other countries. Also, it definitely isn't the first to not involve christmas. With A Vengeance happens in either in very late spring, as it's quite hot out or early autumn because again it's hot but school is in session so it can't be mid summer.

ya except his point was that if an entire countrys money has been stolen, that money is valueless. the status of a currency is based entirely on how secure and trustworthy the owner is. it would be like stealing 500 trillion Zimbabwean dollars.

The tone of this one shifted way to much. This one really didn't feel like a Die Hard movie to me. It just suffers from bigger and better sequelitus, I'd have been happy if they stopped at 3.

Once again, I say: There are only TWO Die Hard movies. This isn't one of them.

Not going to lie, when I first heard they were making a 4th one, I was a bit upset. The first 3 are soo good and I had the Trilogy Collector's edition in VHS and DVD. So the thought of having to get another didn't please me. And while I wasn't as big of fan of this one as the first 3 it was a fun, though pretty outlandish. but the falling from the helicopter isn't as bad as it seems. The helicopter wasn't as high up as it looked, and there was a passing car that the guy landed on top of and rolled. Given his parkour abilities I think his was one of the more plausible outlandish stunts in the whole film. The Third movie (which is my favorite of the first 3) doesn't take place during Christmas, so that Trivia would be incorrect. There are some Christmas references as callbacks to the first two, but I'm pretty sure the 3rd one takes place at the beginning of summer. Or at least closer to Summer.

As Dan said, avoid the fifth one but see Bruce Willis in something else great like Moonrise Kingdom (a vastly underrated Wes Anderson film), Looper (a vastly underrated, often overlooked sci-fi adventure), or Planet Terror (Quentin Tarantino as you've quite literally never seen him before).

They seem to be conflating "fire sale" with "liquidation sale." The latter is "We're going out of business, so we need to sell our entire inventory ASAP." The former is "We had a fire at our store/warehouse, so here's damaged merchandise at a deep discount."

Okay, this one was ridiculous. If still fun. Sheesh, talk about plot armor! What the henchmen survived (over and over again!) was ridiculous. The Harrier chase that demolished how much freeway and killed how many civilians (?) was ridiculous. And the fact that John and Matt were sitting around talking at the end was ridiculous. They should both have been on stretchers and been in the process of being treated for GSW, shock, bleeding, and trauma. Mary Elizabeth Winstead was good as John's daughter -- and I thought it was a fun detail that she looked believable as John and Holly's daughter. The one thing I didn't like was some of the really ugly and unnecessary dialogue from John about Maggie Q's character -- it's misogynistic and racist and it happens more than once. It was just unnecessary. Yes, John is trying to get a rise out of the bad guy, but still -- there were other ways for him to do that. It just really bothered me. Otherwise, this was fun. And it was fun to see two great TV actors -- Timothy Olyphant (JUSTIFIED, y'all!) and Maggie Q -- have fun playing the bad guys.
