Die Hard 4 - Patreon Version

Marko T.

This movie was called Die Hard 4.0 in Europe.

Florian Geyer

The only rhich person in know is like in the lower millions. He sells cars for "exquisit" customers and they have a familiy buisnis where they clean elevators together. So he is chill, he wont hang out in fancy close or stuff, he has now 5 shalter dogs at home, is still in the Freiwillige Feuerweht (so like volunteer fire department) and yes he is thrifty. But he also had a Lamborghini, but more as a investment for reselling. But he also sees himself not as rich, because he still does like 80h of work per week, he just cant stop working and earning and nothing is ever enough. He also has problems with his heart, which is also a famliy thing, and I said often to him to slow down or he will die ealry but he cant stop. I hope he will lear that money and work isn't everything before its too late.

JediLounger

Theatrical cut. Same length but there are timing differences on the scene changes.

Odd Thomas

There is no five. I repeat THERE IS NO FIVE!

Odd Thomas

You want another great action movie? The Long Kiss Goodnight More Justin Long: Jeepers Creepers (his best imo)

Guillaume Huet_rennibou

Let's give it a try: cabin smaller than cottage, smaller than villa, usually smaller than mansion or manor. Cottages are rustic, usually charming little countryside houses. Villas are countryside/seaside quite modern big houses that often have holiday, leisure or retirement purposes. Mansions are huge prestigious houses situated on really big properties, either in city suburbs or isolated in the countryside. Villas are not necessarily on big properties. Some popular areas are quite crowded with many villas in a relatively small space. Manors are similar to mansions but have ancient vibes in addition. They are usually big, ancient, luxurious houses that are part of an old rich family heritage.

Zoltán Bublos

The fifth movie is terrible. Don't even bother!

Tom Hess

I agree with the other comments. You can stop at 4.

VinnyAhhh

I'm in silicon valley and know a couple CEOs and founders, one of which who is probably has "fuck you" money. He's a really quiet guy and doesn't overtly flaunt his money but he's also not like one of those rich people who behaves really cheap. It's almost as if you just met him randomly you'd never know how rich he is but if you're friends with him it becomes obvious pretty quickly.

FischerMax98

I pretend the 5th one doesn't exist.

Prof. Writhms

Please consider Mad Max 5 ("Furiosa"). 🥲

Superpotroast

If this one made McClane kinda superhero-ish with fighting the jet, the fifth one completely jumps the shark..It's totally ridiculous and shouldn't even be a Die Hard sequel.. I do like this one despite it getting a bit crazy, maybe because it came out actually during an age that I could attend movies by myself.. So I have a bit of a soft spot for it..But my list is still: Die Hard 1, 3, 2, 4, 5..

Joel the Human

Only watch the 5th one if you want to hear Bruce yell "Jack!" about 500 times

REDR58

Is that like listening to whoever the hell say TETSUO!!! 1,000,000,000 times in Akira? Because, if so, I’ll be sure not to watch it.

REDR58

That’s irritating. It looks like it’s a matter of a few seconds’ difference but also with some slights cuts. I had no idea. Here the list of differences: https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=4522 Edit. It appears the Rated and Unrated versions are available in the US on Blu-ray but not all discs have both versions. Edit it appears I do indeed have the correct version on Blu-ray. The PG-13 rated release in United States.

Simone's Coconut Squire

Wealthiest person I've ever known was my great uncle who was a somewhat famous artist and Beatnik, and made a fortune in real estate, but lived in the garage of a house that he rented out to college kids.

REDR58

Simone, basement bathrooms are not all they are cracked up to be as they are the first to go VERY quickly when there is a backup in the sewer line. Ask me how I know. Multiple times… As far as wealthy, the wealthiest person I know I probably my brother-in-law who is a lawyer for a decently large company. He’s not arrogant or show-off-y about it but he and my sister live in a very different world from the rest of the family. Their children go to very expensive schools. My two young nieces’ elementary schools individually cost way more than what I paid to go to college. Different times to be sure, but… it’s a lot.

davidov

I prefer not to be negative about movies, I rather focus on what's good and enjoyable. But.... Die Hard 5 is an exception; got nothing positive to say, was bored to death in theatres, 2 out of 5 friends fell asleep.... and now 12 years later I still haven't met a single person who enjoyed it. Lol, I mean look at the other comments; I've never seen such a unanimous opinion between so many subscribers. You can watch Die Hard 5 if you feel like torturing yourself (you know, when reactors watch bad movies as a joke), but keep in mind you won't do anybody a favor with it ;) In the meantime: downloading DH4 as I speak, it's going to be a great evening I'm sure! Thnx for uploading, you made my sunday!

REDR58

Yeah, it sounds like it’s best to not go out on such a low note. Perhaps stop things here.

Ian Forbes

There’s not a fifth movie. That’s a typo. Spend your time gardening … or doing laundry … or doing your taxes … or anything else.

The scent of film and TV is all over this RUM. Smells like freaking tee ah WANNA

I was trying to sync up with Die Hard: With a Vengence thinking "oh man, are they watching a different version of the movie?" and yep... you were. You were watching a version of the movie that was different from the wrong/completely different movie, version of the movie... Don't mind me *Unsubscribes in shame*

Darin Foat

The main thing I remember about this movie is that there was a woman sitting behind me in the theater who brought her baby, and it cried the whole time.

DeAndrew Greene

Instead of watching Die Hard 5, just watch The Last Boy Scout instead. Also has Bruce Willis.

Maiki

Seconded. Fantastic buddy cop action, written by Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Nice Guys).

REDR58

There is a rated and unrated version of this movie and outside of North America the movie was released as Die Hard 4.0. I can’t seem to find a copy of that “4.0” version digitally so I don’t know exactly which version they’re watching. The rated version and unrated versions are very similar in overall length, but there are numerous different scene cuts and edits.

VinnyAhhh

I fucking love how ridiculous this movie is. Re: the spider-man dude — that actor is notable for being a pretty established parkour expert most notably in the movie District B13, a French dystopian action/parkour movie where that actor co-stars with the original creator (I repeat CREATOR) of parkour itself. It probably wouldn't do well in any polls but I'd definitely recommend it for a good time.

Jasbro

George has to be trolling her when he said people say the 5th one is amazing, i have never seen or spoke to a single person who have said the movie was even ok/watchable let alone amazing?. I will point out the helicopter scene it wasnt that high off the ground when jumped from it so while any normal person with no training would probably break something that guy is a hardcore/professional parkour guy so he knows how to land. I was also wondering how much Trek they were going to be watching but when Tim Russ showed up Simone pretty much confirmed they'll be going upto Voyager at least, exciting stuff.

Fattydoe

Might as well watch the 5th just so you can close franchise. No point in stopping now. Its probly the weakest of them all though in my opinion

Fattydoe

A long kiss goodnight is most underrated 90s action movie. Samuel l jackson and gina davis best movie.

Tom Hess

FYI the crazy french henchman is Cyril Raffaelli. He's a world-class stuntman and martial arts choregrapher. He can do all those leaps and swings for real (with some occasional wirework of course). His best role as an actor is in District 13 (2004). Not a masterpiece by any means, but fun if you like parkour. He's got some good stuntwork in Kiss of the Dragon (2001) with Jet Li.

djKENTO

To answer your question about the capital building george I’d like to take you back to a little known date in recent history called… January 6th… Also I don’t know what cut this is, but it doesn’t sync with either of the 2 American releases. Based on George saying 4.0 at the title I’m guessing it’s the German release again.

REDR58

To add a wrinkle to this business with different versions, I am watching the US Blu-ray PG-13 rated version, and it appears to match exactly with the version Simone and George are watching except for the title change “Die Hard 4.0” / “Live Free or Die Hard.” Edit: to clarify, I am watching this specific version on Blu-ray: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Live-Free-or-Die-Hard-Blu-ray/560/

Dioskur

1+3 are the best, 2 is very cool, 4 is mediocre, 5 is worse

Scott McClintock

I don't want this to come off as demanding, but it's way past time to get to Lethal Weapon 4. It's not without flaws but of the 2 "4's" of the respective franchises, it's the stronger film.

Shaka, When the Walls Fell

5th one has Jai Courtney in it. That should be enough to discourage anyone from watching it.

Tom Hess

I think George misspoke at 2:18:14. I think he meant to say "if everyone thinks it's amazing, we'll watch it".

REDR58

Lethal Weapon 4 also has a particularly good and highly entertaining car chase.

Max Krause

Nah, it's not even "so bad it's good" territory, it's just bad. Unless they think making action and explosions boring is a form of art, they should absolutely skip it. They tried to introduce Jai Courtney as John McClane's successor to keep the franchise going and it just did not work. Not even a little bit.

KnittingHaven

Yeah, another vote for missing #5. I think you would enjoy #6...I mean, R.E.D. My headcanon is that John McClane was a secret CIA agent all along....

Tyler Foster

Fingers crossed Terminator 3 gets a shot on your "less-celebrated sequels" train, as well as getting through the next two fun but more standard F&F movies to get to the great Fast Five, Furious 6, Furious Seven, and Fate of the Furious, all of which I think are a delight. (And maybe get Hard-Boiled in before you get to Fate of the Furious, for hat-tip reasons.)

Cody Cameron

Please Watch Die Hard 5. Others will say it wasn't as good sure but I enjoyed it. Also if would be great for Completion reasons too. so there that as well.

FranciscoGios

Hearing Simone about her taking a shit on every toilet she can find while eating my Taco Bell Chicken Quesadilla I felt her needs. Once I witnessed the F35 scene and vehicles missing John McClane a lot I didn’t watch the last movie. Also don’t pay attention to the audience scores or rotten tomatoes believe it or not sometimes they are paid attendees from other studios or some other groups.

ScottishSammo

Another great reaction 😁, I hope you get round to Die Hard 5, it's certainly not great but it still has it's good moments and a good storyline I feel. I would also back up 'R.E.D' going on your list, another fun action movie with Bruce and some other legends 😁

Hal451

The capitol is where the senate and house of representatives meet and conduct business. This is the building that was broken into on Jan 6th.

John

The 5th one is terrible, I would recommend avoiding it and also second watching R.E.D instead

Marc Galanin

Where do you buy your mug? I need it

Brian's Dog

1,3,4,2,5. Justin was a fun sidekick.

Marc Galanin

Also mention this was the theatrical version not unrated so log less cuss words

REDR58

Timothy Olyphant... “Olyphant” is the name of the town in Pennsylvania (near Scranton, PA, where the US version of “The Office” is set) where most of my mom’s side of the family lives in or near. We last saw Maggie Q in “Mission Impossible III” where she drove into Vatican City in a Lamborghini and stepped out wearing a very memorable dress. This movie is the last appearance of Bonnie Bedilia in a Die Hard movie as the now ex-wife of McClane with her photo seen here and she was last heard onscreen in a brief telephone call in “Die Hard with a Vengeance.” I thoroughly dislike the blue-green color grading here and that was seen in a lot of movies around this time and I’m glad that has apparently fallen out of favor. At 20:33, there are 2 quick shots of Philadelphia and at the top edge of the background, Camden, NJ is barely visible on the other side of the Delaware River that separates the 2 cities. The Benjamin Franklin Bridge spanning the river and leading into Camden can be seen on the left corner in the second shot. It seems a rather odd inclusion as McClane and Matt Farrell have already left Camden and are in Washington D.C. by this point and you can barely see Camden anyway and Philadelphia doesn't figure into the plot. The “Timex” watch brand was founded in 1854 in Danbury, Connecticut and watches were made in the US until 2001, though some limited editions are still made in the country. Airbags do not deploy that easily! I wonder how uncomfortable it is to type on those roll-up keyboards used by Maggie Q and Justin Long? Warlock has a “Planet of the Apes” cutout in the background of his basement command center. It is an image of one of the General officer Apes from the original movies. I like how Gabriel gets nervous and makes mistakes. He’s not exactly the calm, cool and collected Hans Gruber! The US Marine Corps F-35B Lighting II can indeed hover (and take off and land vertically), in a similar way as the AV-8B Harrier II jets did in True Lies as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4ex6Irnji0 But there is no way the pilot would attack at such close range, certainly not fly under and through such close-quarters as seen under the bridge scene. Too much risk of collision with the bridge, and all the debris flying around from the would likely get sucked into the engine intakes, or the blow-back from the explosions might destroy the jet outright. The real jet also isn’t *quite* that maneuverable. The F-35B in the movie also isn’t quite right compared to how the real aircraft is designed, as it’s missing the large, upward-and rearward-opening intake lift fan cover on the top of the fuselage, as seen in the above video. I guess the real thing isn’t as photogenic as the movie version! The real F-35B can carry a single cannon in an optional, underbelly gun pod. The US Air Force F-35A variant also only carries a single cannon, internally mounted on the top of the left side intake (and not INSIDE the intake!). https://www.twz.com/air/f-35b-and-f-35c-use-different-25mm-gun-pods-unique-to-each-variant Anyway, this was a lot more fun than I was expecting, but I think we should skip the 5th movie, given the general consensus is that it’s not so hot.

Skyruff

I love this movie. It's not a good "Die Hard" movie, but it's a great over the top movie on its own. They worn you early when he identifies as 0077 that this is more a James Bond super spy style movie. The fifth one is not a good movie of any kind. Move on to "RED" instead as it's a much better Bruce Willis movie.

DM DC

Not going to lie, when I first heard they were making a 4th one, I was a bit upset. The first 3 are soo good and I had the Trilogy Collector's edition in VHS and DVD. So the thought of having to get another didn't please me. And while I wasn't as big of fan of this one as the first 3 it was a fun, though pretty outlandish. but the falling from the helicopter isn't as bad as it seems. The helicopter wasn't as high up as it looked, and there was a passing car that the guy landed on top of and rolled. Given his parkour abilities I think his was one of the more plausible outlandish stunts in the whole film. The Third movie (which is my favorite of the first 3) doesn't take place during Christmas, so that Trivia would be incorrect. There are some Christmas references as callbacks to the first two, but I'm pretty sure the 3rd one takes place at the beginning of summer. Or at least closer to Summer.

Than

The villain had Frenchmen henchmen

kbobravo

I hope this gives you guys an itch to get back into the view askewniverse. I believe Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is next.

BubblyRainbows

That last bit of trivia was wrong. "Die Hard with a Vengeance" wasn't set at Christmas either.

Vwlss Nvwls

I really enjoyed this one, but I might be bias since I love Timothy Olyphant.

Chris B

There is no Die Hard 5... or at least I prefer to live in a world where there is no Die Hard 5

Shibby

Instead of Die Hard 5 you could do Lethal Weapon 4. Die Hard 5 is truly awful.

zak

While this doesnt feel like a Die Hard film thanks to slapping the die hard IP on a new script, it weirdly does feel like a modern 80's B-movie which I enjoy...don't watch Die hard 5 though

TheSentry77

Great catch Simone, you recognizing Tuvok almost makes up you for not recognizing Worf in Ted 2 🤣🤣

Rev

I have yet to watch A Good Day to Die Hard, so I really want you guys to watch it, no matter how bad it may be so I can finally commit to watching it.
