Yaay, I've been looking forward to this all week :D <3

Josip Buretić

Me too but unfortunately I cannot stream the movie here in Germany nobody has it(Amazon/Netflix/Disney) ☹️🙁

History of the World Part II came out 2 years ago as a TV show. Mixed reviews. It’s okay but overstays it’s welcome a bit.

The cat almost sure was going to pee...also when I carry them I always grab it with the arm and my hand around the neck so I don't press too much

Ginger

I think you watched most of the best Mel Brooks movies. I'd recommend "Dracula: Dead and Loving it" which isn't his best but still a good one, starring Leslie Nielsen. "Life Stinks" is also great but more serious, bring tissues. And the original "The Producers" is another classic.

Simone's Coconut Squire

1)El Al is the state Airline of Isreal. 2) Oedipus was played by famously blind musician Ray Charles.

Ginger

I'f I'm not mistaken, Moses smashing the commandment plates is actually in the Bible. Although he just gets new plates with the same ones instead of smashing 5 additional ones.

Young Blood Priest

You were right, Simone. The older French lady was Cloris Leachman and she played Phyllis on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. She was also the grandmother in Bad Santa and she was in Young Frankstein too.

Simone's Coconut Squire

You should do the Producers. It's actually been done twice, once in the 60s with Gene Wilder, and once in 2005 with Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick. Silent Movie was hilariously meta. It's literally a silent movie about movie people trying to make a silent movie after they've gone "talkie".

Zoltán Bublos

There is still one Mel Brooks film what I'd really recommend guys, and that's Dracula Dead and Loving It

fmcmullan

If you want more Madeline Kahn, I cannot recommend 'Paper Moon' more highly.

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

The Producers and Dracula Dead and Loving it are must watch, but you could watch everything Mel Brooks did and is still a good time

Yes, Moses smashing the tablets of the Ten Commandments is in the Bible: https://biblehub.com/exodus/32-19.htm (Choose whatever version of the Bible you like, I’ll just use Webster’s) “Webster's Bible Translation And it came to pass as soon as he came nigh to the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses's anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables from his hands, and broke them beneath the mount.”

Many, many years ago I found a book at my grade school’s “rummage” or “yard/tag” sale and someone had written in the front of the book: “God is Love Love is Blind Ray Charles is Blind Ray Charles is God”

michael denny

both producers and dracula dead and loving it

Monica Alarcon

Please watch Mel Brooks' Silent Movie, nobody ever reacts to it and it's my favorite

Seth

High Anxiety is a fun Hitchcock parody and might be best after watching a few more Hitchcock films, particularly Vertigo, the Birds, and North by Northwest if memory serves. Might be a few others but it's Mel Brooks so it's going to be fun regardless.

24fps_

like in blazing saddles everyone gets harvey korman's characters name wrong.. Count the money/ Heady Lamarr.. also he tries to kiss someone and chips his teeth in both movies ^^

Logan Kerlee

Had such a great time watching this with you guys! Very happy that you both enjoyed this classic. :D

Mark Barger

A great Madeline Kahn movie and a great ‘screwball comedy’ classic is “What’s Up, Doc?”

Michael Kemmet

The very quick song "We're off on the road to Judea" is a reference to a series of "Road to ..." movies from the 40s, 50s & 60s starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, & Dorothy Lamour. It specifically references the song (We're Off on the) Road to Morocco. Family Guy eventually did a full spoof of the song in 'Road to Rhode Island'(S2E13).

Jeb Manning

I would recommend reacting to the rest of Mel Brooks's movies except for Life Stinks. However, with two of them, High Anxiety and Dracula: Dead and Loving It, there are some movies you should see before them. For High Anxiety, since it's a Hitchcock parody: -Shadow of a Doubt (1943) -Spellbound (1945) -Rope (1948) -Strangers on a Train (1951) -Dial M for Murder (1954) -To Catch a Thief (1955) -The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) -Vertigo (1958) -North by Northwest (1959) -The Birds (1963) -Marnie (1964) For Dracula: Dead and Loving It, since it's a parody of Dracula movies: -Dracula (1931) -Horror of Dracula (1958) -Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)

Yes! A Madeline Kahn movie marathon should definitely start with "What's Up, Doc?", her first feature.

Polecat21

My favorite line from the movie is when the Count is warning the King about the revolution and he says “The peasants are revolting” and the King replies “I’ll say, they stink on ice”. For a little more Cloris Leachman, search YouTube for "roasts legendary ladies of comedy”. Short bits from Joan Rivers, Betty White and Cloris Leachman (hers starts at the 13:00 mark).

Michael Kemmet

I don't know how much Simone would love The Producers(1967), but George would probably need oxygen during several scenes. It's one of my favorite films, so I definitely recommend it. (It's also #11 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 best comedies over the first 100 years of American cinema(1905-2005). Dr. Strangelove is #3, Blazing Saddles is #6, Airplane is #10, and Young Frankenstein is #13.) I prefer the 2001 Broadway musical version the most, but I prefer the original 1967 film version over the 2005 film version of the musical.

Harold Wright

The Producers is fantastic, well worth watching.

Astraeos

You guys seriously need to consider watching Monty Python's Flying Circus. Like my god, you guys would be absolutely floored with laughter at so, so many of the sketches. There's just so many good ones. Also, that cat story is wild. I had two cats, both for 17 years, and my next door neighbor raised like 5 or 6 litters of cats that were given away to homes, and I've never even heard of a cat taking a piss like that when you pick them up. Wild. That would be a true nightmare.

Black Dynamite is a gem in this genre of comedy

Great fun. Very entertaining reaction! Speaking of spaceships, the 20th Century Fox logo/fanfare of this era always reminds me of "Star Wars." And whoever made the Star of David spaceship model really went all out! It looks fantastic. Someone on Reddit said that Industrial Light and Magic (which did the effects and model work for all of the Star Wars movies) built the model for this movie but I can't find any confirmation of that. The late Gregory Hines, who died in 2003 from cancer aged 57, was a very famous dancer, and choreographer, as well as a singer and actor. He was a well-known tap dancer and you saw just a tiny bit of that particular talent in the movie. He starred in "The Cotton Club" (1984; directed by Francis Ford Coppola) along with Richard Gere, as well as Nicholas Cage and Laurence Fishburne. That is an excellent movie and I highly recommend it. He was also in a movie called "White Nights" (1985) with Mikhail Baryshnikov who was a world famous Russian ballet dancer who famously defected from the Soviet Union in 1974, and was granted asylum while in Canada. He eventually became a US Citizen. "White Nights" isn't the greates movie, but it has really good dance scenes and is worth a watch. Hines also starred with Billy Crystal in "Running Scared" (1986), a very fun buddy cop movie. Check it out. Here is a video of Hines performing at a tribute to Sammy Davis Jr who joins him onstage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RLTTsa-rf8 The late Lena Horne, whose name was used as a distraction in the movie, was also a world-famous singer, dancer and civil rights advocate who was also extremely beautiful (hence the distraction!). She had a 70+ year career and died at age 92 in 2010. She was the product of biracial parents and toured with the USO during World War II. She starred in many movies and TV shows and recorded dozens of albums. One of her most famous songs was a rendition of "Stormy Weather" from 1941 and then again for the 1943 movie of the same name: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXJ8-E-jvuw Woody Omens is a real (retired?) cinematographer! I started to get very invested in the Roman story line but then, unexpectedly, was The Spanish Inquisition. Brooks missed a prime opportunity for a cameo by Monty Python there, I daresay...

MacGuffinStuff

My favorite line is probably Bea Arthur, "Oh, a BULLSHIT artist!" But also "These fifteen, oy, ten, TEN Commandments for all of you to obey!" Even as kid it never made sense to me, that me saying Jesus Fucking Christ when some other of God's children does something so obviously stupid, that sin is up there with murder, but rape isn't even mentioned. I had that thought while I was at church when I was like 8, I remember being like "Huh?" That and when George you said in the intro oh maybe it's the Inquisition, I had to say out loud, "no George, (singing) it's the Inquisition..." You've seen all the Mel Brooks movies I've seen so I can't speak to the rest, but I will recommend "Kentucky Fried Movie". That was the first movie by the Zucker/Abraham guys who did Airplane!, Naked Gun, and Hot Shots! I haven't seen Top Secret! (with baby Val Kilmer btw, also, still hoping for you guys to react to Real Genius 🙏) but I've heard it's funny, I'll take that.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Eh, there’s a reason this one doesn’t get the level praise that “Blazing Saddles” or “Young Frankenstein” still get. Luckily you can watch “The Producers”, Brooks’ debut, for more of his ‘hits’. Otherwise I really like “High Anxiety” & “Silent Movie” but it might be best to watch some more Hitchcock & silent-era movies before those. As far as other comedies, “Black Dynamite” & “Swiss Army Man” are fantastic. And I’d really appreciate it if you got back to “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey”, love those numbskulls.

Emily G

Not a comedy but you guys should watch The Patriot (2000)

ScottishSammo

Amazing reaction, I love this movie. The stone age part reminds me of an old claymation cartoon called 'The Gogs' about a caveman family. It's funny and a little gross at points but the episodes are only 5 minutes each and there's 13 of them 😁

Gary Fixler

Lol at the French guys in the carriage, missed joke: " tHey'Re mY rAiSinS!" "Don't get saucy with me, Bearnaise!" (bearnaise sauce)
