Here's a small list of movies I love with all of my heart that I'd like for you to see. I ranked them in order of most interesting for a reaction, not in order of appreciation. Hope some of these have not been asked before. They're all incredible in some way or other. Love you guys ! RRR (2022) Strange days (1995) Joint security area (2000) Once upon a time in the west (1968) Blow out (1981) Moonlight (2016) Furiosa (2024) The insider (1999) Phantom thread (2017) Memories of murder (2003) Suzume (2022) Punch drunk love (2002) The banshees of inisherin (2022) Nausicaä of the valley of the wind (1984) The shape of water (2017) The fabelmans (2022) As bestas (2022) The witch (2015) Princess Mononoke (1997) The favourite (2018) Laurence Anyways (2012) All quiet on the western front (2022) Manhunter (1986) Uncut gems (2019) Perfect blue (1997) Spirited away (2001) Lady bird (2017) Cure (1997) Before sunrise (1995)

Emily G

Can you add The Patriot (2000), Practical Magic (1998), and What Dreams May Come (1998) to your guys watchlist 🤞

Gary Brown

I want Cape fear to win. It's an incredible remake

Robb

Now You See Me doesn't belong on this list just fyi,I don't think it will win so no problem but if it did is ANOTHER bunch of angry comments imo

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Nightcrawler is Jake Gyllenhaal’s tour de force - and that’s saying something coz the dude’s a great actor. One Hour Photo for a truly different Robin Williams too

Robb

Aaaand weekly request for Everest 2015 pls🙏🙏🙏 Let's see it in a poll at least🥺

DemNikoArt

Nice. Nightcrawler and One Hour Photo are some hidden gems. A few more thrilling movies: - The machinist - Lucky number Slevin - Smokin' Aces - Identity - 127 hours - Jarhead - Nightwatch - Hollowman - The Gift

AdmiralZhou

Yessssss Nightcrawler is one of my favorite movies, and one of my favorite Jake Gyllenhaal performances. It’s a crime he didnt get an Oscar nom

Florian

Highly reccomend Sleepers and Spotlight

Freddy Cougar

Great list! All worth a watch. For me, Nightcrawler and One Hour Photo top the list.

Ashton Lewis

Great film, can't wait for that one someday!

Cinebinge

Does it not? We googled it and it says thriller/crime.

Robb

Now You See Me is more a funny light-hearted heist movie Comedy, action, and very very last some thriller, the rest on this list are more front and center suspense thriller serious movie ( The Purge and Glass not as serious I guess) but in no way light hearted movies at all. Hope it helps🤞 and now that I have You Everest 2015 pls good sir🙏🙏

Horrible

Citizen X soon?

Downside dn

More action/mystery than thriller...

Downside dn

Nice to see someone enjoyed Smokin Aces and Lucky Number Slevin Definitely my top underrated movies

Nick Stark

Nightcrawler is such an excellent film. SO HAPPY it’s winning !!!!

jmundt33a

The hunt for the Soviet serial? Starring Donald Sutherland? Or am I thinking of the wrong thing?

Actuarial Lurker

One HOUR Photo is Robin Williams at his peak

Don Ross

It's a heist movie. Also I enjoyed it, unlike any of the others on this list 😜

Daniel Smith

I prefer the remake to the original. Excuse the accidental pun but the original is very black and white and I think there is some uncertainty in the remake. I’m trying to be vague so I don’t spoil things.

jmundt33a

Now You See Me is a caper film, not a thriller. Clear and Present Danger Witness Fallen (maybe more suspense) The Firm The Client Pelican Brief A Time to Kill

Cinebinge

But its own IMDb page categorizes it as thriller. How else do we find it's genre without the plot being spoiled?

Mike FromOz

The fact they named the sequel "Now you see me 2" instead of "Now you don't" pisses me off 😅

Brandon

Since 'The Hangover 2' is on the way, I was wondering if you guys could add Wayne's World 2 to the watchlist. It's one of those sequels that's just as good as the original. Some people might say you should see 'The Graduate' first for some references, but I wouldn't say it's a requirement. I saw Wayne's World 2 as a kid and The Graduate much later in life.

Mike FromOz

I think a combo of the original Cape Fear matched with "Night of the Hunter" would be absolutely amazing. Robert Mitchum is so fearsome.

Horrible

You are correct

Daniel Smith

No Way Out. Very young Kevin Costner, Gene Hackman and Sean Young. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Too many famous people to list. Both are spy films. Very different films using a similar plot. Didn’t watch to mention the plot in case it was a spoiler.

Brandon

Marketing teams never have any balls. :(

Mike FromOz

An amazing match up for two movies together would be Robert Mitchum in the original "Cape Fear" and his other well known movie "Night of the Hunter". The guy knew how to play menacing, and the movies still hold up to this day.

jmundt33a

Yes to No Way Out. Also, Absolute Power. Deja Vu is also good. Bridge of Spies is more my speed than Tinker, Tailor.

Gary Brown

I've seen it with Cassie from popcorn in bed and the original is good, but rarely are remakes any good, but they hit it out of the park. The villain in the original had a role in this one too.

Daniel Smith

Torn between the film and TV series. Film is great but the TV version gives some of the those themes time to “breath” as it were. TV show has a young Patrick Stewart who still manages to look old.

UncleGaGa1979

One Hour Photo!!!! It’s easily one of the best movies from 2002, and I’d even say one of the best of that decade!! You also can’t forget the other serious Robin Williams movie from the exact same year: Christopher Nolan’s remake of Insomnia with Williams, Al Pacino, and Hilary Swank!

Robb

Mmm well when you Google " Now You See Me genre" it does say first Comedy then Action then Thriller then Heist. An order I mostly would agree with. I see the thriller/ crime Imdb tho so the confusion is fair. Someone will point it out on future polls If it happens again I'm sure so don't sweat it

jmundt33a

August Rush is also great. Williams’ take on New York Fagin is entertaining and disturbing.

Happy Hanukkah

No one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike!

Cinebinge

Then we getting different results. The top of the page first thing I see when searching the movie title is thriller/crime 2013 follow by the run time.

jmundt33a

Cape Fear should probably be a contrast/comparison with the original.

Dan

They already did The Fugitive.

jmundt33a

Both superb on the same subject with killer casts

jmundt33a

Slevin is a personal favorite. Saw it several times in the theater. Smokin’ Aces is more of a popcorn chomper. But it is good.

N.A. Vreugdenhil

Yes, Lucky Number Slevin please 🙏 love that one

jmundt33a

I personally really enjoy Source Code

China Andronicus

Lucky Number Slevin is amazing and so underrated.

N.A. Vreugdenhil

Spotlight would be great! I haven't watched that one in a long time.

Vengeance

One of Robin Williams’s best

jmundt33a

Caper. Like Ocean’s. That series aren’t thrillers.

jmundt33a

Three excellent choices.

jmundt33a

Manhunter should be a contrast/comparison. I think Hannibal (2001) should also go on the watchlist.

Emily G

Thank you friend 😊

jmundt33a

Did they do Patriot Games? I know they did Red October.

cincassette

Thriller is quite a broad genre with no shortage of great picks! One Hour Photo is probably my top choice here... maybe a bit lesser-known, and definitely more of a slow burn, but an incredible film, with an incredible performance by Robin Williams! I'm also glad to see Nightcrawler taking an early lead. Definitely 'essential viewing'! The Now You See Me franchise would also be a fun one to jump into, with a third instalment on the way. I'd describe them more as 'popcorn movies' and not as intense or serious as some of the other choices here, but they’re hugely fun and entertaining. Some more great thrillers to check out in the future might be After Hours, Eyes Wide Shut, or The Talented Mr. Ripley. And of course, you can’t talk about the genre without mentioning Hitchcock, the master of suspense. I hope you'll get to dive back into more of his work soon!

jmundt33a

When action comedies come around again, Grosse Pointe Blank and Mr. Right are great.

jmundt33a

Any interest in November Man? Anyway, on this list, the two best performances are Primal Fear and One Hour Photo. Though Nightcrawler is no slouch.

JoeE

Would also recommend blood simple, out of sight, you’re next, taking of Pelham 123

robodong

im not sure why you guys think Thrillers has to mean serious, and that having laughs or flashy gimmicks disqualifies a film from being a thriller. the dictionary definition of thriller is "an exciting plot that involes around crime or espionage". I mean just off the top of my head, Knives Out, Snatch, Bullet Train, Man from UNCLE, Game Night, Ready or Not. those are all thrillers with comedy bits. but more so, why would S&G know the tone of the movie while making a poll if theyve never seen it?

Jacob King

No complaints about this list. Primal Fear is one of the craziest mainstream movies of the 90s. I’m guessing it’s scoring so low because people haven’t seen it so people should really get on that.

cincassette

I think it gets a bit pedantic when we over-focus on strict genre labels. At the end of the day, they’re all exciting films... thrillers in the broadest sense. Unless you want the poll to be filled with near-copies of the same movie, going by IMDb is fine, and makes for some variety.

Robb

I at least didn't say it's not a thriller I said it doesn't belong on the same list as the other movies on the poll, that are not light hearted at all. If you put Now You See Me on a poll with the movies you mentioned on your comment it would be a tad more reasonable. They wouldn't/ couldn't know the tone that's exactly why we are commenting to help them make a better poll my friend ❤️

robodong

but why would that make the poll better? like Cincassette said, variety is good. why would a more specific narrower poll of nothing but serious thrillers be better? like i get that it satisfies a sense of tidiness maybe. but... that doesnt also mean better choices lol. that actually would mean a worse poll, because all the choices are basically the same. if they do a comedy poll, i would be disappointed if it were nothing but slapstick, or nothing but dark comedy, or exclusively action comedy. because it makes the choices feel less meaningful.

Daniel Smith

I think George will like No Way Out.

Daniel Smith

Yes to all of the above, cracking list. I think a Jack Ryan series could be interesting as the different actors have brought to qualities to each film/tv series. Think Chris Pine is the “worst” Jack Ryan but potentially a better overall film than some of the others.

beecroft adams

Three Kings. Saving Mr Banks. Alice in Wonderland(1951). Falling Down. Ouf of Sight. The Firm. Rain Man. Rainmaker. Honey I Shrunk the kids. Serpico. Get Shorty. Blue Valentine. Being John Malkovich. In the Line of Fire. Mary and Max. Wallce and Gromit. The Patriot. Platoon. Sleepers. Thelma and Louise. Pleasantville. Edward Scissorhands. Crazy Stupid Love. A Beautiful Mind. Inside Man. Doubt. The illusionist. Cinderella Man. Carlito's Way.

Mr. Writhms

Brian De Palma is rolling in his grave, being left out of a thriller poll (and he's not even dead). 🙂 "Dressed to Kill" (1980) "Blowout" (1981) "Body Double" (1984)

Vincent

Primal Fear Cape Fear The Purge

Will Sofer

One Hour Photo is criminally underrated.

maikeru

Cape Fear & Primal Fear need more love 🥲

DonkyDave

I would love Primal Fear, absolutely banging film. Edward Norton gives an insane performance

Ben Stevens

omg I picked the movie in the lead this week! Of the list, Nightcrawler, One Hour Photo, and Cape Fear would all be great watchalongs. I love it when you guys watch movies that have an actor or a few that you both recognize, but in roles that run counter to how they're traditionally cast. Makes you reconcile what you're seeing against what you've seen from them before!

Shonnicus

I like this movie

streaky

Surprised Glass isn't doing better.

Matt Landon

You just have to go on the best available information, and since you've (correctly imo) prioritized avoiding spoilers, category errors will happen now and then. And when you think there is enough feedback pointing to a possible category error, then you make the decision on shifting the title to a different category for the next vote. I think the only potential problem (aside from the minor issue of maybe excluding another title that might better fit the category) is if the slightly mischaracterized title wins a specific genre poll. This should only happen rarely, but I can see how someone who's a big fan of a specific subgenre might be disappointed with that outcome. The truth is you're probably doing the best you can without outside curating or advice, but maybe just note the exceptions as they come. That said, I think the consensus here is mostly correct. Now You See Me is much more Ocean's Eleven than Silence of the Lambs or Gone Girl, though I will say it is a bit more suspenseful than Ocean's Eleven, which has a cooler, more relaxed tone. It's really a Heist film more than anything else, but I would say crime/comedy is closer than thriller. Other good Heist movies if you wanted a list for a poll: The Killing (early Kubrick) Inside Man (Spike Lee/Denzel) Sneakers (fun early 90's espionage with a killer cast) The Town Out of Sight (more Clooney/Soderbergh) Ronin The Italian Job (either) The Score Heist The Sting (more of a con/caper, but great) Gone in 60 Seconds (silly, over the top Cage, but fun) Den of Theives (Dumb, but fun, poor man's Heat) Thief (Early Michael Mann) Sexy Beast (Efficient, 88min with intense performances) Widows Logan Lucky (Silly Southern Fried Soderbergh, AKA Ocean's 7-Eleven Hell or High Water (neo-Western) Three Kings (war, gold Heist during Desert storm)

Sam

cape fear

Robert Evans

From the man who brought you 'Andor' comes 'Nightcrawler' some day they should also do 'Velvet Buzzsaw' Gilroy's art themed horror movie

rick movienerd

As one of your older viewers i want to suggest a few movies you may not have heard of but are really good fun. The stunt man with Peter Otoole and The gods must be crazy.

Alexrandom

For sure! I think manhunter would be very interesting. I personally think it's a way better movie than red dragon. I do enjoy red dragon but there isn't really a vision behind it. Brett Ratner isn't one of my favourite directors to say the least. Michael Mann on the other end ... 🙂

Stephanie

I'm disappointed that Primal Fear isn't doing better. It's such a good thriller with a great twist.

jmundt33a

Out of Sight, The Illusionist, The Firm. Didn’t they do Get Shorty?

Adam Vialpando

Not enough people watch Sleepers and that is a shame. It's an amazing movie.

jmundt33a

Yes to Premium Rush and Gone

jmundt33a

I actually think Pine is better than Afleck.

Roddrick Smith

Movie Suggestions: Cocoon Swingers Munich Young Guns Sideways West Side Story 2021 Traffic As Good As It Gets City Slickers Backdraft

Shonnicus

Movie on this poll that George will immediately get from The Simpsons

Elroy

A couple movies from my childhood that I think should be added to a poll : Brother Bear (2003) , Prince of Egypt , Speed racer (2008)

Jeb Manning

Definitely some movies you should react to in the future. They would be so fun: -King Kong (1933) -The Wolf Man (1941) -House on Haunted Hill (1959) -The Tingler (1959) -The Last Man on Earth (1964) -Yellow Submarine (1968) -Night of the Living Dead (1968) -Harold and Maude (1971) -Time Bandits (1981) -The Dark Crystal (1982) -The Return of the Living Dead (1985) -Re-Animator (1985) -Explorers (1985) -Brazil (1985) -Innerspace (1987) -Ernest Goes to Camp (1987) -Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) -Hellraiser (1987) -The Fisher King (1991) -Waiting... (2005) -Bumblebee (2018) -Detective Pikachu (2019) -The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) -Transformers One (2024) -The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie (2025)

Jonny Campbell

If you guys watch Cape Fear, George is suddenly going to understand so many simpsons references

sahliente

Out of Sight, yes please. :)

sarCC

No, they have never done Get Shorty, unfortunately.

Random Nevermind

Two thrillers I suggest you to consider: La migliore offerta The Girl on the Train

Da Big Appa

Looking at the votes so far I'm wondering how many of the voters haven't seen Primal Fear or cape fear because they are older movies? This is not a knock on the votes, just honestly curious.

Benjamin Herrera

Just watched that like 2 weeks ago fir the first time,, Wow is all I can say

Benjamin Herrera

Jake Gyllenhaal is one of my favorite actors ever, Nightcrawler is such an amazing performance and Film.. the Purge Franchise I think is my favorite horror Franchise of all time

Connor Macarty

So damn good, ending still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it

Astraeos

Can you sing the entire score of the HMS Pinafore?

Downside dn

The beat to the ending lives in me forever(smokin aces)

GenXplainers

I’ll add my support of Witness, Night of the Hunter, Dead Calm and Blowout. Others (apologies if you’ve already done these): The Conversation (1974) Marathon Man (1976) Romeo is Bleeding (1993) The Vanishing (1988 version) Insomnia (either version but might be fun to do the 2002 Christopher Nolan version) Sorcerer (1977)

Ari Ramirez

Primal Fear, Cape Fear and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the weirdest trilogy

Leon2788

Brother bear is goated

nossieboy

Jumped on Nightcrawler and happy to see the results

Morion Williams

They would absolutely love "now you see me" Lets give them a watch for it. Plus they can prepare for the new one coming out.

Saifu

No matter how you feel about it, I really want to see you guys reaction to Glass just so you guys can finish the trilogy...

PureGonzo

All great films, but I’m so unbelievably hyped for Nightcrawler. Absolute masterclass in acting from Gyllenhaal.

Jay

If Cape Fear is going on the watchlist, can you double bill it with The Simpsons episode?

Logan Nelson

Isn't that a magic movie? Thriller?

CD

OMG...I hardly ever vote for more than 1 movie; not because other polls haven't had MULTIPLE good choices, but...a) I'm usually trying to keep from muddying the waters (see what I did there) and b) there's usually a CLEAR favorite for me. This poll...I voted for 5!

Steve Mercier

Now You See Me is not really a thriller...what's the technical film word for dogshit? Cape Fear, Primal Fear, One Hour Photo, and especially Nightcrawler, are all fantastic thrillers. I expect to be thoroughly skewered. Please enjoy.

Tenn Seven

Edward Norton is just a fantastic actor.

Tenn Seven

"Swingers" and "Sideways" would be super fun.

Tenn Seven

"The Conversation" and other old school Gene Hackman movies like "The Package" would be pretty cool to see them react to.

Tenn Seven

You're just reacting too early. It's in third place now, just a tad behind Cape Fear. Primal Fear is definitely the better movie though.

Feignorance

I hope they watch Dark after Severance.

John

Please add Prisoners to the list or another since it came in third during last thriller poll a while back

Blqbrd

pssst…. hey Annihilation

Lee Fernee

Gonna keep asking for dead man's shoes.

Fox

Please add session 9 (horror)

JimThePatron

I'm so glad to see One Hour Photo on the polls!!

Frank from Vegas

If you don't do Cape Fear this time out, I'd like to push for a double bill with the original 1962 version (like the Nosferatu double feature). There's enough differences between the two that it should make for an interesting experience. And also throw in the Simpsons episode on the back end (Cape Feare, season 5, episode 2).

Michael Johnson

I think I'm in the minority in not liking the Cape Fear remake. I think the original was far more menacing. But I voted for Nightcrawler, I loved it when I originally saw it.

JoeE

Like marathon man, the conversation, the vanishing

jmundt33a

That technical word you’re searching for covers Child’s Play and most of The Purge series.

jmundt33a

Phone Booth is excellent.

William Adderholdt

It is hard to beat Robert Mitchum's performance in the original!

Donna Castellano

One Hour Photo, please. No one ever reacts to it and it's such a good movie.

Donna Castellano

Which version of Taking? There are 3. The 74 and 09 versions are good in their own ways. The 98 one is mostly terrible. Not even Vincent D'Onofrio could save that train wreck (pun intended).

Adam

Recommendation Alert Into the Wild (2007) Based on a true story. I don't think I've recommended this before. If I have, sorry for the repeat.

jay

SIMONEEE!!!!! PUT CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE IN THE SCHEDULE!! George NEEDS to see this movie!!!!!!!!!!

jay

I know people have mixed feelings on it, but seriously, I just know their reaction to it would be so fucking fun! Been recommending this one for a while, unfortunate it's up against a lot of big hitters but I'm holding out faith it'll hopefully come in second so it gets done in the near future. I think no matter how you feel about it, you can't deny how much they would love it just off of the cast & how they're all oozing with charisma the entire way throughout. I agree with the above comment, sure it's not your typical thriller but that's what makes it stand out IMO. They're allowed to have way more fun with it than your typical thriller thanks to it being magic

Mark Causer

Nightcrawler.. such an underrated movie

JoeE

The one with Matthau and Shaw

jmundt33a

Please do not yell.

Kyle B

Now You See Me is one of those movies that is so stupid, that people don't believe me with I tell them about it.. then they go and watch it and find out. Stage magic really falls short when translated to films, and then add it to the heist genre, and it ends up being a series of nonsensical twists that each serve as an F-U to the audience. That said, highly recommend everyone to watch it LOL>

James Falato

"Primal Fear" is a "Must See"... An Absolute "Must See"... No "Maybe See"... Unquestionable "Must See"...

Seth's Coffee Cup Ambush

Some good choice here. Nightcrawler has been on my list for a while now so this is a good excuse to watch that. Some other thrillers of various flavors for the future: A History of Violence (2005) Marathon Man (1976) North By Northwest (1959) Ronin (1998) Where Eagles Dare (1968) The Night Manager (2016) and The Little Drummer Girl (2018) are a couple of great spy thriller miniseries (6 episodes each) based on novels by John Le Carre (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy)

Logan Kerlee

Nightcrawler's a great watch! Pretty sure that you'd dig it if those are movies that you enjoy. :)

jay

If you guys decide to do Now You See Me in the future, make sure you get the extended version! Super excited to see you guys react to Nightcrawler!!

jmundt33a

Brother Bear is the weakest of those three. Still heartwarming

jmundt33a

Of those, Sideways and As Good As It Gets

jmundt33a

Sleepers and Pleasantvillle are great I maintain that there’s a great story about Gosling and Stone trapped with and buried under the rest of Crazy, Stupid Love. I find it a stinging indictment that Seeking A Friend For the End Of The World is somehow more romantic and more hopeful than the rest of CSL.

Brandon Meng
