It's cheese, but it's GOOD cheese. Like if Michael Bay grew up in Bollywood.

The good Indian cheese is Paneer. My stomach isn’t the best traveller so my go to order in India was Paneer Paratha (cheese stuffed flatbread) and if I had to live off one food for the rest of my life…

The evil blonde woman who stole the child—Lady Scott, Scott Buxton/Ray Stevenson's wife—was played by Alison Doody, who also played Dr. Elsa Schneider in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. "All I have to do is squeeze." "All I have to do is scream."

Cincassette

Where can I find this version? I can only find a 3h 05m version of this film...

My version was 3h5m, and matched fine. The difference was all in the opening production company stuff. Once you get to the actual movie, it syncs.

djKENTO

Did they watch the Hindi version or the Telegu version? It's really REALLY hard to get the Telegu version legally in north america...

s0rd3z

Looking forward to this, it's a great flick. Can't watch until tonight though. A full day of editing ahead... Hopefully I can keep my eyes open and make it through the whole movie.

Rama "Ram" Raju becomes unstoppable when he takes up the bow of Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, okay maybe the outfit is just meant to be historically accurate like they say but if the bow part isn't somewhat symbolic I'll eat my hat.

Opti_Frog

I think George is correct that the performances of the British are a bit strange. They don't really seem like British villains, stiff-upper-lip and condescendingly hissable. But it's hard to know why that is. Perhaps there was a language barrier, perhaps the director is more of a technical and visual director than an actor's director or perhaps it would be too subtle for a movie that is all about melodrama and stunning shots. In fact, to really fit the style and tone of the film, i wish that the two main villains would have chewn the scenery MORE. Anyway, Ram Charan is instantly iconic in this film.

Shonnicus

Damn good movie and damn good reaction. Multiple watch but caught up once again with you two.+

djKENTO

Lots of Foreign films have won Oscars. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for instance won Best Cinematography, Score and Production design along with best international feature film. Parasite won best picture.

droodly

Dear George. What did the R in story do to you? You were cool with fiRe, wateR and the eventual reveal of the R words. But with story yer like fudge this BS! It seemed personal...

Grandalf

BY. THE. ALL-FATHER!!! That was truly fantastic. I happen to live in Yuba City, California, which is known for our large Sikh population, and I love that culture! ( I do know that this is not a specifically Sikh story.) We have a great relationship that respects and shares each other's cultures. That made this extra special for me. Epic you have a knew name, and it is "RRR" !!!

Divinerights

I’ll say it again cause the uncovered post is deleted 😛 RRR has some controversial politics and so I’d recommend Monkey Man (Hindi and English language but Indian film). Really good action film that sheds light on India today.

nigel Macbug

suggestion for Indian epic tale Ramayana both novel by Ashok K. Banker and film , equal to LOTR

djKENTO

So the title RRR… here’s the craziest fact about it. The title was the code name for this movie because the director and the two leads have names that start with R. S.S. Rajamouli is the director, who is who you see with the grey hair and beard at the end so you were right on that guess… and then N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan. Roar Rise and Revolt came later and that isn’t used in every version of the film. The movie is basically named after the idea of them working together. I don’t think American movies could get away with something so wild and fun.

zak

I remember watching this the first time and thinking it was okay...I must have been in a really bad mood, this film is incredible, who needs live action anime adaptations when bollywood exists!

zak

Oh and if this video does well I'd love to see you guys check out Monkey Man! A lot more in line with western sensibility, but definitely doesn't forget it's Indian roots, and a hell of a directorial debut for Dev Patel.

Jay S

Just started watching but hearing that you love Ray Stevenson George (and apologies cause I did mention this show recently).. his performance in Black Sails is unforgettable

Florian Geyer

Crazy, this hits on every emotion.

I love Monkey Man! You aren’t kidding about the politics of RRR (that scene at the end where Bheem asks Ram to teach him is a full body cringe) but it’s still an incredibly entertaining movie.

Jacob King

I think George was talking about specifically Indian films winning Oscars. RRR won best song.

When I go to link and enlarge and turn my phone it doesn’t enlarge and turn with my phone. Your other 3 post works fine. It’s just when I go to uncover link it doesn’t enlarge with my phone when I turn it 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

Hi Perry, just for clarification, are you rotating (assuming you have rotate screen turned on) before pressing full screen? I'm on my phone at the moment and I have to press full screen, then rotate my device. Though this may be different for you depending on your phone.

Also, I think the English dubbing for English-speaking actors throws things off a little bit.

I did indeed make it through without falling asleep after a ten hour editing binge. Gosh I love this movie and knew George & Simone would as well. It's a great "Primer" for Indian cinema which I am still very much a newbie too.

Philipp Roensch
>>177086355

That one is great. I think it also goes very much against the mustachio'd cop hero Indian movies usually have. Dev Patel as the monkey (underdog) is certainly a more grounded hero of forgotten people.

Philipp Roensch

It is a damn good movie, feast for the eyes and impressive what they put together in stunts and effects. Has been a great joy to rewatch with you guys! The stars really put this movie from silly to sincere in a blink and keep the whole range of emotions heightened throughout :D. Comments might bring up controversies around the movie, I will just link to a fascinating and fair interview with the director and what this movie mean to him: https://www.newyorker.com/culture/the-new-yorker-interview/the-man-behind-indias-controversial-global-blockbuster-rrr-s-s-rajamouli TL;DR: It goes a bit into the controversial bits, the movie was made by upper-caste people, and is full of nationalistic imagery, but S.S. Rajamouli seems dismissive at worst and non-supportive of a strict rule at best.

I LOVE that you both are FINALLY watching this! xD Good golly - this movie's amazing! I'm positive that you'll both truly enjoy this. :D <3 This is going to be INCREDIBLY FUN!! I love just about everything in this movie. :D hahahaha, yeah - they don't mess around. I'm also watching another version than the one you two are on. The version I'm watching is 3:05:12 in length so I'm hoping there won't be too many issues. :) ((Just finished and everything ran just the same as yours, no idea why my version was a bit longer)) Colonialism will be a thing in this, yeah. Her voice is very pretty, yeah! :) Yeah - this movie DOES NOT hold your hand. It is not a fairy tale. FUCKING LOVE HIM IN THIS! hahaha, he ain't no bitch. lmao, he's just clubbing through the masses. :D The way that MUCH of this was filmed is amazing! The scale of scenes and how incredible everything is.. it's this crazy throughout. :) Yeah! This dude's incredible! I TOLD YOU!! lol, the work that was done in this film is incredible! lol, don't worry Simone - everybody gets what's coming to them in this. :) I love that this movie forces us to empathize with characters. This movie's plain incredible!! I always feel such joy whenever I watch this. :) lol, don't feel bad. I have trouble with their names as well. He's a quicker learner. :) Yeah, no fuck that guy so much. Such an asshole, indeed George. WE ARE!! This dance off is FUCKING AWESOME! Desi Nach is fucking incredible. :D It's so much fun to watch. :) This is NOT Forrest Gump George! xD Yup! This dance is one for endurance. :) She is very sheltered, yes. Don't worry guys - she'll get what's coming to her. Yeah, she's THE WORST. The singing performances in this are incredible! Just finished watching the movie with you - I couldn't write for a good portion of the movie because well it's that fucking great!! lol, I had to keep watching and not be distracted. :P I don't fully understand what you meant at the end George but it's all good. :) Okay - finished watching the reaction and I am filled with joy that you both have watched this movie!! It really does makes me feel very happy. :) This is one of those rare movies that many never wind up watching and that breaks my heart a bit. I'm HOPING that this reaction will bring more people to watch this! :D

I was so unhappy with Netflix only having the Hindi version. I almost always prefer to watch a film with the original dialogue audio with subtitles if I don't speak the original language, so watching this film dubbed from Telugu to Hindi with all the loss of the original performance inherent to dubbing *and* I still need subtitles? So I paid once to get the original Telugu version with English subtitles on the only service that has that for US customers, but I didn't want to pay for that again to watch along with you guys.... but I really felt the poor video quality of the uncovered version you guys uploaded did a disservice to even a second watch. Fortunately the solution that worked great for me was to sync the Netflix version with your uncovered upload and have the visuals from Netflix with your audio.

The Real Andrew Kim

This movie could also be called Captain India and the Summer Soldier :P Also the evil wife of the Governor gives Kristi Noem vibes.....

REDR58

I am so happy they did not use dry for wet for the underwater scenes. It *always* looks fake. I love these movies that are so bizarrely over the top and unflinchingly so. Jenny’s camera is a Yashica 124G, a Japanese camera not made until 1970 so it is anachronism. The large rifle that Ram uses is a M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) which first appeared in 1917 and was used by the US Army in WW1, WW2 Korea and Vietnam, as well as by US allied countries and many others. Evidently it is still being used today in some armies. Extremely popular Indian actor Ajay Devgn of the "Singham" series of movies (which you should watch!) and many, many other films first shows up as "Baba" in the gun training sequence and later talks about bullets and freedom. "Baba" is a term of respect for an elder man or father figure. We called my grandmother “Baba” as it (also spelled "Bába") is a nickname for "grandmother" in some Eastern European countires. In our case, from the then-Czechoslovakia. At first viewing, it looked like Ram snapped off the firing pin from each rifle to sabotage them. The firing pin is a needle-like component that detonates the primer charge at the base of each bullet which then ignites the main charge, propelling the bullet out of the gun. On closer inspection though, it appears that he breaks off the bullet extractor who would prevent the just-fired rounds empty shell casing from being expelled from the gun, loading a fresh round. Getting rid of the extractor would allow the initially loaded round to fire, but not another one as the expended casing couldn’t be ejected. But in the movie the soldiers can’t fire their rifles at all, so I think the idea was that it was indeed supposed to be the firing pin being damaged, but who knows. Ray Stevenson’s Governor Scott Buxton is using rifle firing a round somehow powerful enough to flip and throw a car, but the force of the recoil would probably kill him. At the very least it would shatter his arms. Even a shell fired from a tank likely wouldn’t flip a car, it would just go right through it. Alia Bhatt who plays Sita (Seetha) is gorgeous. You guys really need to watch Gandhi (1982)!
