Dammit, I was hoping for George or Simone as Saxamaguy 😂

nossieboy

haha Saxamaphone!

Andrea Tubby

Yes! So many cultural touchstones including oiled up sax guy Tim Cappello.

Matt O'Keefe

Jami Gertz-big crush of the 80's for me

Senec

Absolutely, they even parodied him on Family Guy :)

Jeff K.

Perhaps they realized that no one can EVER even come close to duplicating the raw sex appeal of that saxamaphone player, so why even try?

Fun Fact: The 'Twilight' vampire was Bill (Alex Winter) in Bill and Ted

Jeff K.

Uh, that’s Bill S. Preston, Esquire to you! And in a movie with the guy who replaced Ted “Theodore” Logan in Speed 2, no less. Also, speaking of Ted: seeing Diane Wiest pop up as the mom in this movie reminds me, they gotta watch Parenthood, featuring Diane Wiest and a young Keanu, which came out the same year as Bill & Ted. So, weirdly enough, she was in movies with both Bill and Ted in the same year. Ok and one last note now that I've got Diane Wiest on the brain: boy would I LOVE to see George and Simone react to The Birdcage, which remains one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, hands down.

Andrea Tubby

For George, the song is Echo and the Bunnymen's cover of The Doors' People Are Strange.

SuPaTiLt

You just broke my brain! I forgot Keanu was in Parenthood and I've only seen Speed 2 maybe once...

Jeb Manning

You have so gotta react to both 1985's Fright Night and 1987's Near Dark now. Along with The Lost Boys, they kinda form this trinity of just really good 80's vampire movies. Fright Night and Near Dark would make for such great reactions.

LengyelFlo

Cryyyyy little sisteeer.... Come, come to your brother! ...

Daniel Smith

The Simone reaction to sax guy was everything I hoped for.

CD

+1 Parenthood (Ooh...here's something for my wallet!) +1 The Birdcage

CD

Good enough for Jerry AND Kramer!

Happy Hanukkah

I *love* Bill S. Preston, Esquire!!! "Get Back" wouldn't have been the same without him!

P S

Yea I forgot about Beefy Mcbeef, wild

Morion Williams

Queen of the damned Animatrix A.I. Artificial Intelligence IQ Mighy Ducks

Paul Mayes

The big guy was Tina Turners sax player

Simon Pegged Me

I didn't know that! That makes me so happy!

VirtuallyVeronicka

I love the creepy tone to the song Cry Little Sister, and it’s been on my All Hallows Eve playlist for years. 😈

I don't know if this is just pointing out the obvious, but it didn't come up in the title discussion at the beginning and I don't see anyone else mentioning it. The Lost Boys is a direct reference to Peter Pan and his group of the same name. They never grow up, they just have fun all the time, and they can fly. So this is that but with the whole vampire horror twist.

Allan

Just did a little research and it seems the reference was way more overt originally. In earlier drafts Kiefer Sutherland's David was going to actually be named Peter and his group was going to be comprised of much younger kids. Guess they decided to dial back from the direct connection a bit.

You guys That's actually a long-running fan theory connecting Stand by Me and The Lost Boys. The pieces fans usually point to are: Ace Merrill disappears after the events of Stand by Me. In The Lost Boys, when Max removes his coat, a cobra tattoo can be seen, which some viewers interpret as a reference to Ace's gang, the Cobras. Ace's final line in Stand by Me ("This is big time, baby") makes him seem exactly like the kind of guy who would seek revenge. Both films were released by the same studio within a short time of each other and have overlapping themes of youth, gangs, and dark coming-of-age stories. The theory goes: Max turned Ace into a vampire (or killed him), Ace became part of the Santa Carla vampire world, and the Cobras' disappearance happened off-screen afterward. The Gordie part is where the theory becomes much more speculative. In Stand by Me, the adult Gordie narration says that Ace later died after being stabbed in a fight. The film never suggests Gordie was murdered by vampires, and there is no official connection between Gordie's fate and the events of The Lost Boys. That's purely fan-created lore. What's interesting is that the cobra tattoo is the strongest visual clue fans have, but there's no official statement from the filmmakers that Max is Ace or that the two movies share a universe. It's one of those theories that isn't canon, but it fits the tone of 1980s storytelling you mentioned: "They're vampires and they need to be killed." Back then, movies often didn't stop to explain every detail. Max didn't need a centuries-long backstory, a vampire origin myth, or ten episodes of lore. He was the head vampire, he was dangerous, and the Frog brothers had stakes ready. For a lot of audiences in the 1980s, that was enough. So as fan lore, "Max paid Ace a visit that very night" is a pretty fun theory—even if it's never been confirmed by the creators.want and need lore - Chat gpt help a few mistakes but you get what i was saying
