TV recs, long and short: Spaced (1999) — Two seasons, seven episodes with ~25 minute average runtime, from the Shaun of the Dead guys ted (2024) — One season, seven episodes with ~30 minute average runtime, same crew from the films and it will be very reminiscent of Family Guy to the trained ear/eye lol Bad Thoughts (2025) — One season, six episodes with ~20 minute average runtime from comedian Tom Segura wherein he plays various characters, all the episodes tie in to each other Narcos (2015) — Three seasons, 10 episodes each with ~50 minute average runtime, Netflix's Pablo Escobar show which is surprisingly outstanding, starring Pedro Pascal Maniac (2018) — I was going to say this is unfortunately a miniseries, because of how damn good it is, but it's definitely for the better that it is because not only can I not imagine where else it could have gone, I wouldn't have faith in it to be executed properly. It's ten episodes long starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, probably some other people you'll recognize, and has some of the greatest visuals ever wrapped up with one of my favorite representations of mental illness The Queen's Gambit (2020) — Seven episode long miniseries with ~55 minute average runtime starring Anya Taylor-Joy, not much I can say about this one without giving away too much although I'm sure you guys will be able to deduce the story from the cover haha. It was the first role I saw Anya in and I was invested in her ever since, it's just so perfect The End of the F***ing World (2019) — Two seasons, eight episodes each with ~20 minute average runtime, it's a...uh...I don't even know, lol. It's sweet, dark, cute, evil, romantic, mysterious, coming-of-age, what more could you ask for? The below I believe I *might* have requested before but I'm not sure: Pushing Daisies (2007) — Two seasons, S1 with 9 & S2 with 13, it got cancelled during S2 due to falloff in viewership but it instantly became one of my all time favorites after I first found it. Such a silly and cheesy romcom with a lovely cast The Good Place (2016) — Four seasons, 12-13 episodes each with ~20 minute average runtime, it was instantly one of my favorite shows from the moment I saw it. It is going to blow you out of the water White Collar (2009) — Six seasons, 13-15 episodes each (except for the last one, being only six) with ~40 minute average runtime. This show's alternate title could just be, "Competence Porn: The Series", and it would work just as well. Going to be hard to for you guys to not binge it all on your own lol Ozark (2017) — Four seasons, ten episodes each (except for the last one, having fourteen) with ~55 minute average runtime starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. I know Bateman has some involvement in the shows production but I'm not sure to what extent. I know for sure I remember seeing his name pop up in director creds a couple episodes. Would love to see you guys react to this, just for how fucking dark it gets. Also, they do a really cool bit with their intro sequences that I know you guys would love Not really a recommendation per se, but I hope you guys plan to return to Black Mirror. I've been catching up on your guys' reactions as I do my rewatch before finally getting around to the new season and I have a bad feeling with how I've been hearing George talk about the consensus on the whole "old vs new Black Mirror" debacle that they're maybe not planning to do the later seasons which I really hope I'm wrong on. My memory is *kinda* hazy on S5-6, I remember a couple episodes but the ones I do remember, I remember being pretty grim in terms of the whole "ideal vs nonideal outcome" I hear George bring up often in reference to this show. They definitely take on a far more camp style (if that's even a eligible term to use for this shoiw, lmao) that I can totally understand people not liking, but me personally I don't mind it. Also, you guys are gonna be able to find solace in some of the cast members in these seasons! Fun stuff. I know in the latest season they did a sequel to the USS Callister episode and I have no idea how that could play out lmao, so I'm super interested in that Film recs: Companion (2025) — I'll be surprised if George hasn't already either seen this or heard revealing details about it, but would still love to see it on the channel if it's new to at least one of you! One of my favorite films of the year Synecdoche, New York (2008) — Directed and written by Charlie Kaufman starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. Need I say more? You guys will *love* it. The Lorax (2012) — Seen this one so many times, one of my favorite Dr. Seuss adaptations. More excited to your guys' reaction to the casting than anything else lmao Super 8 (2011) — J.J. Abrams + Steven Spielberg, does anything else need to be said?

PureGonzo

Fucking incredible lineup this week 🤩

Tom austin

Yes falling down! Great film Do you guys plan on doing terminator 3, it's a really underrated sequel

paul rai

Second on the Ted show. Extremely hilarious that lampoons the tv sitcom structure with that classic McFarlane humor.

Mikebdrx

Omg absolute banger week!!!

Cameron_1

Smile movie reaction please

jay

Just picked up my first Criterion yesterday, being Fear & Loathing! Can’t wait to revisit an all time favorite

Theo Bracco

The Invention of Lying (2009) could be a good watch, unless falls into "liable to cause arguments between viewers" due to it's theme.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Noice! I hope “Falling Down” gives George some cues toward inspiring a certain disgruntled Simpsons character that becomes someone’s certain “enemy” to maddening results haha. Big viewing week ahead anyways dudes!

jmundt33a

And this week’s theme is mental anguish. How appropriate Some suggestions 1. Lucky Number Slevin 2. Grosse Pointe Blank 3. Mr. Right 4. She’s Out of My League 5. Noises Off 6. Oscar (1991) 7. Soapdish (1991)

Jon Johns

Hey George & Simone!! Happy weekend! Just a reminder: you are loved and appreciated by strangers! 🥰🥰🥰

PureGonzo

Finally, someone that catches my username reference haha. Btw, if you haven’t done so already, George and Simone have done a reaction to Fear and Loathing on the channel if you wanted to watch along with them :)

Dom

Gangs of New York is good apart from the accents. Minor issue though. Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing.

Korpse

Desperado 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

SJB

Ooh that's a good week..

ScottishSammo

Another great week to look forward to, all the movies there are top class in their own ways. Can't wait 😁

jmundt33a

Her aid tends to sink his starring vehicles even when the ideas are good. This and Ghost Town are both like that.

Mike W

As you're watching a later Daniel Day-Lewis movie how about an earlier one next. My Beautiful Laundrette is 40 this year.

Andrew R

😂 been saying it for years! (He's the main mod on Popcorn in Bed's channel).

Andrew R

Falling Down! So underrated

Mike W

Falling down just makes me think of Iron Maiden, A briefcase a lunch and a man on the edge

SnabbKassa

George, please remember my warnings about Falling Down, which I sent by direct message over a year ago.

FranciscoGios

Holy Shit!! Good week we have here! I live 20 minutes away from the restaurant where they filmed Falling Down; just a little info. 🤷‍♂️

SnabbKassa

I didn't like Grimes either

Jasbro

Finally Gangs of New York!, nobody i follow has reacted this or Royal Tenenbaums (hopefully sometime in the near future) and it was such a crime, cannot wait for that, Falling Down is a classic as well, this is a good week.

Chase Lonnergan

Hopefully, in the name of balance, the NEXT week will be fairly lighthearted. This is quite a set of heavy films. Great movies, but damned heavy.

Arcade Sufi

Falling down will be good

jay

I actually did a while back while on a ton of LSD and their facial expressions were the funniest shit ever 🤣

Khan1001

Dear Simone & George, as the poll was so close, will you be watching Superman 78 the following Saturday after Gangs?

Tom Hess

Woohoo Falling Down and GONY. Next week is going to be a good week.

robodong

i hope youre joking. cause thats kind of an insane ask to "remember 1 specific message out of the thousands you receive from a whole year ago. but ill keep it vague and not just say it on here to test you".

UnlicensedOkie

I think yall will enjoy Gangs of New York

Maarten Martens

I remember End of Watch not being very high in the poll, but I'm so glad they're watching this after Nightcrawler. Jake Gyllenhaal (and the rest of the cast) are really great in this. Looking forward to it!

Robert Finlay

End of Watch is very good. I've been wanting to see them react to that for while. Of the major reactors I think only Bisscute has done it.

robodong

my brothers a cop and that opening monologue cracks him up, he says every job has that one co-worker who thinks theyre the only reason things arent falling apart completely, and thats what that monologue sounds like.

Phillyman!!

Wow the movies are all 🔥🔥💯💯can’t wait

Jeff I.

Hopefully your "warning" wasn't spoilery, but maybe he's forgotten it by now. Ha

Rupert Purcat

Bugger, seen falling down back in the day and the other 2 are a pass for me. I'm not having much luck in the Polls lately. 😄

Carlos H

Nice! This is the first week in a while where I will be watching everything

funky weapon

pleasantly surprised by Falling Down and End of Watch. both are great movies but probably weren't going to win any polls.

Tyler Foster

Jyn x Ryl just watched it if you're interested.

Gollum the Ottoman

Hell yeah! Gangs of New York is a fantastic film. Daniel Day-Lewis nailed that role.

Andras Beck

Boy, Falling down and End of Watch on the same week as the finish of BCS S6. Great entertainment ahead :)

Logan Nelson

I'm so pumped for every day next week

Tall Paul

I find it ironic that 80% of posts are requests but if we let George choose he always gives us something interesting!

Jared S.E.

I don't usually watch along to movies I haven't already seen, but Falling Down has been on my list for quite a long time. I'm looking forward to next week. Every day of it.

Raven Blackrose

Damn. Misery Week incoming, grab a stuffed animal or something

Dwight Scarn

Lolzz Falling Down had its epic moments though for sure

PIG

Hoooly shit. Is this line up real? Love it!

PIG

lol! Well said.

sarCC

It's automatically a good week when it includes Better Call Saul and TNG!

sarCC

Hopefully sooner!

sarCC

Spaced is wonderful and really underseen. And Companion is great! Definitely one of the bests of this year.

maikeru

falling down yaaay🥳

Joseph M Sica

Yes! Falling Down!!!! GREAT WATCH!!!!

robodong

wtf was that lol. just a woman licking donuts. okaaay

Jeff K.

I know, and I don’t even care because give me all the Rhea, all the time (I know that’s not her in the teaser, of course). I’m just stoked to see it’s coming sooner than I anticipated.

fromage

Intense week.

JoshG

You guys are gonna need some comedies after this week😂

SANAMDEEP

better call saul ending is gonna crush you lol

Kat and Kaizo

I'm not ready to be done watching BCS with you guys :(

Eddy

There are many main movies that you should watch. Most of them will make it on some pole at some time. However, there are very good movies that RARELY make it on the poles but are worth watching (some you may have already watched): 1- Legend (1985 - Theatrical Version ) 2- Mr. Destiny (1990) 3- Flight of the Navigator (1986) 4- Tomorrowland (2015) 5- Innerspace (1987) 6- The Secret of My Success (1987) 7- Masters of the Universe (1987) 8- Mannequin (1987) 9- Outbreak (1995) 10- The Wraith (1986) 11- D.A.R.Y.L (1985) 12- Project X (1987) 13- Lean on Me (1989) 14- Kate & Leopold (2001) 15- Sleeping with the Enemy (1991) 16- The Rocketeer (1991) 17- The Neverending Story (1984) 18- Red Lights (2012) 19- Dejavu (2006) 20- Paycheck (2003) 21- Next (2007)

PIG

I’ve done my first watch with first reactions and it’s pretty cool! Works best with straight forward movies that aren’t complex (like Falling Down).

Thomas Hilbert

Oh! Did you already see it? Wow! You're amazing! What an awesome achievement! Pretty much everybody else watching their BCS reactions has seen it, too! But funny..! Unlike you, THEY understand that setting expectations is a bad idea. But, again, as you so desperately seem to need it: Wow! You've already seen it! That's... that's just, incredible, good for you! I wish I'd already seen it too, then I could be just as cool as you.

Matthew Brown

Awesome falling down!! My father was a camera man of that movie he liked working with michael douglas and robert devall they were both very nice guys

PIG

Tell us what you think of the movie after!!!!

James M

"Falling Down" is an intense film. Cool to see it come up for a watch.

droodly

Your use of "were" scared me... They are still alive everyone!

Matt Blanchette

Was hoping "Bond Saturdays" were continuing, but... maybe I'm just shit at scheduling. :-P lol

Jay Davis

That is one HELL of a week!

James M

I'm not keen on the TV series choices but I can recommend one I'd watch with you: "Electric Dreams"

Robinson vs. Parkinson's

I'm really stoked to see End of Watch and Gangs of NY, even though they didn't win their polls . (I think?)

droodly

Gangs of NY just barely beat Superman. It was so close I'd guess we'll see Superman in the next release list.

MarisoL

Crimson Peak by Gillermo del Toro for the spooky season

Kenneth thomas

Falling Down is a great choice. I just saw Eddington in the theater and some of it gave me memories of Falling Down...just one man spiraling down and losing his shit.

Zoran24

might be one of the greatest line ups

802jay

End of Watch!! Finally

SnabbKassa

because what we need right now is MORE political rancour?

SnabbKassa

It's a fair point. I'm not repeating what I said in my message here because it will start the argument about the movie off here, which is worse. I've send a DM reminder on that thread from years ago so George can find it. I never send spoilers.

Jonathan Eaton

Leaving Las Vegas (1995) Nicolas Cage, Elizabeth Shue

Christopher Carson

Good list for next week movie-wise. I'm not too big on the series', but maybe something different will drop soon.

Jeb Manning

These are all pretty good. However, another one I hope you react to is Return of the Living Dead for its 40th anniversary. It would be a good follow up to your Night of the Living Dead reaction. Return of the Living Dead actually uses Night of the Living Dead as part of its backstory. The opening monologue is a chilling story that's delivered and acted really well and is actually really creepy. Return of the Living Dead really does have one of the greatest pre title sequences ever in a horror movie. It's also where pop culture got the idea of zombies eating brains. It's just one of the best horror movies of the 80's, one of the best horror movies in general, and one of the best zombie movies around. If you're a zombie movie fan at all, seeing Return of the Living Dead is basically mandatory.

QuiGon

What happened to the Bond movies? Will they continue?

Morion Williams

Queen of the damned Animatrix A.I. Artificial Intelligence IQ Mighy Ducks

Mikebdrx

And Suburban Comando!

maikeru

Always forget to put it on my watch list. Never watched it, curious what the hype is about. I‘ll go totally blind in it (as I like it), don‘t remember watching the trailer or clips, but I‘ll see.

Luca Spurgeon

Yall better load up on tissues haha Some big hitters coming this week in some GREAT movies and all of them bring you on a pretty intense and emotional roller coaster. Cant wait! I appreciate you guys for all this and I'm already looking forward to next week! haha Keep up the great work yall!

droodly

Peacemaker season 2 is starting near end of August, so now would be a good time to watch "The Suicide Squad (2021)" (the James Gunn one, not the one with Jared Leto) and Peacemaker season 1.

sarCC

Though it should be preceded by the Birds Of Prey movie, a really fun movie with one of Margot Robbie's best performances.

droodly

Oh yeah. Agreed!

QuiGon

Ha, you're right! I totally missed that on last weeks announcements 🙈
