READ FIRST: Did not realized till afterwards that George's footage is completely frozen after about 10 seconds into the recording so this video will basically be Simone only. Silver lining is the movie is only new to Simone anyways so the more interesting part is unharmed. But since this movie now can't have a YT version edited, we recorded an extra (smaller) movie to make up the difference which is Rat Race. Which should be posted on here around the same time.

I know it doesn't feel great, but these things happen. A suggestion for the future is for both Simone and George to record their discord audio (or whatever they're communicating with) to a separate audio file using OBS. That way we'd at least have the commentary, even if the camera footage is lost.

I think it's fair to say that this movie is about what people are willing to do to / have done to themselves and the people they love for a feeling of being heard and seen - even when that support is just fake, just an echoing. The emptier the space, the stronger the echo. This community which hurts and kills people they pretend to love is empty in just this way - echoing people's feelings and anchoring them in ritual, but entirely devoid of altruism and actual empathy.

Been looking forward to this rewatch for a while. Am I disappointed? Sure. Will I still enjoy? Absolutely. Is asking myself a question and then answering it the same insufferable habit that Cary Elwes character had on Seinfeld? Yes, so i’ll stop. But this is a good opportunity to just say that Cinebinge is prolly the most considerate, honest and professional reaction channel I’ve come across, IMO. Working in post-production and broadcast I’ve found MANY “professionals” working on “big” stuff that conduct themselves MUCH less so and with inflated egos to boot. The extra mile is noticed and appreciated. ox

Man, if you were to start the recording, check to make sure it's recording, see that it is and then it freeze right after you check and never check again because you've done this a thousand times and it's become routine, how do you win against the tyranny of faulty hardware/software?

Aww, such a bummer. You two have my favorite discussions. It was still fun watching Simone, but I really missed George’s commentary. You definitely need to watch The Wicker Man from ‘73, the director’s cut. Similar in subject matter but as much as I love this film, Wicker Man is far better, and has Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward.

It would probably be worth establishing the habit of making separate local recordings of your voices in Audacity. It's very easy to do, won't conflict with your usual recordings, and provides a bit of redundancy for any audio issues. In cases like this, you could at least layer in George's audio so we can hear his half of the conversations, even without video, which would make for a much better watch. Just a suggestion.

This was my first watch for this movie too, and sadly, I'm not impressed. It didn't even really HAVE a story. It was just a bunch of weird shit strung together and a lot of ridiculously poor decisions on the part of our "protagonists". After two people commit suicide in front of a crowd, only a moron would stick around, no matter how much the people tried to persuade them to stay. And then people keep disappearing and everyone's like "oh sure, I bet they just left." I know the whole horror genre is built on stupid decisions (let's open the crypt, read the cursed book, disturb the burial ground, etc.) But it really does ruin my enjoyment of a movie when no one in the whole movie makes even one remotely logical decision. I give it 2/10, would not recommend. More importantly: I am sorry that the recording got messed up on your side, George. I appreciate that you put the video up anyways for your fans to enjoy as much as was possible. It was weird to see Simone holding a conversation with no one, but at times it was really amusing, especially with George sitting there in a frozen smile. Gave me a unique look at something I'm normally not on the outside of. I really do appreciate all that you two do for your patrons. And putting up a bonus movie was so nice. Really above and beyond.

Too bad about the missing footage of George. It's a bit one-sided now. Maybe you guys should think of a redundancy, like just setting up your phones to record as well, and if all is well, just delete that after. Very low effort, but you won't loose the reaction, even if the footage is from the wrong angle, and the sound might be worse. I remember watching this in the cinema when it came out. Being a Swede living in Ireland, I was most likely the only in the cinema understanding what was being said in Swedish. I couldn't stop but laughing when started talking about ättestupan, and got some very strange looks then.

Even with the issue, I enjoyed the reaction a lot. This movie is bonkers. It makes you think a lot about the process of grief and emotional support and after watching it multiple times, it gets even more interesting. Florence killed in this role. Also, listening to Simone alone made me think I was eavesdropping a phone call of her and a friend and that kinda fits with the creeps of the movie, like, why I'm so interested in this person's conversation ???

Ah, my fist watch as well, but since George was missing and this isn't the Directors Cut, I'm sorry I skepped. Seen it for myself now and must say, I like Hereditary more. The family B plot did not connect with the relationship and trip A plot. I guess she is happy to cry it out and be rid of the awful boyfriend? We are not checking in? This story could have been a r/relationship_advice post. Interesting insight into Swedish/Norse traditions, but apart from making them look more fucked than the average cult... I agree it is pretty and gripping. But not A-tier horror.
