Jef Etters

I was in Vegas on vacation and saw some of the filming! No one cares, but it was a neat thing to see!

Tim Nicolle

That's Sunday night sorted! Thanks! One of my childhood favourites!

Mike FromOz

Oh wow!!! SURPRISE MOVIE! I was wondering why the react picture looked familiar, but not like Midsommar. Sorry about Midsommar, but I am stoked about this! Going grocery shopping then back to enjoy this! 😍

maikeru

midsommar AND rat race? hell yeah!!

Jeff K.

I was gonna say, "I don't remember Florence Pugh ever looking like that..." when I saw the thumbnail, before reading what happened with Midsommar.

Serena Walken

Two in one day. I feel so spoiled. 💙 💖

Crytek

Sad it happened the way it did but i really enjoy this movie so thanks for the extra content guys

Ciarra Jade

I always enjoyed rat race! Thank you guys for the nice surprise upload

Hercule Pyro

Oh wow, I was just thinking how i'd like to see a reaction to this, was one of my old favs growing up.

Drew

EvinWhy

Random fun fact, the actor who played the rental car employee that was struggling to work the computer, is The Pretty Fly for a white guy character that was in the Offspring music video.

JayF

Sorry for your tech issues on the other movie but this really worked out well for me. I had no interest in the other one and Rat Race should be a very fun watch. :)

JayF

Just a reminder that you've also seen Jon Lovitz in Big and A League of Their Own.

Ira K.

Nice double feature guys, very in-theme with Midsommar lmao Jokes aside, this is a good palate cleanser

jmundt33a

She’s Out of My League would have been one of my comedy suggestions. For a Halloween comedy, what about ParaNorman?

Stilge

There is a trilogy of Rowan Atkinson movies that don't rely on goofy faces. The Johnny English movies where he plays an incompetent secret agent.

Jason Pratt

Rowan Atkinson has a small role in the movie The Witches (1990). Based off the book from Roald Dahl- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and James and the Giant Peach.

iamweasel

The Johhny English trilogy has Rowan Atkinson as a main character with lines and not just goofy faces.

TexasNight

I also love Blackadder, even the 1st season, and would love to see them react to it. George mentioned that he has seen it, but maybe it's been a while and he would like to re-visit.

Jaaahn

? its literally right there in the description of the post.

Jeff K.

Simone: the guy with “no personality” is Dave Thomas, a Canadian comedy legend from SCTV. He and Rick Moranis starred in a Canadian classic you guys should watch: “Strange Brew.”

Jaaahn

oh you havent been around for a while then huh. the update was a while ago, been like this for months. theres a site now called Cinebingers.ca where all their content is hosted. patreon is just the YT edit, and the other 2 versions where you sync your own copy or without syncing is on their site. that way all comments are consolidated into 1 post on patreon, and people can just skip patreon all together and go straight to their website.

JBK405

Well this is a wonderful surprise today. This movie is ridiculous, but it's FUN! It's a spiritual remake of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World", a 1963 madcap adventure race film. I think you guys would love that one as well.

Solus

I love this movie

Jacob Colson

George, Maigret is a great serious role from Rowan Atkinson. The role is based off Jules Maigret novels and he stars in four episodes which play like individual movies. And some other roles that would be great would be Bean (yes, there is a Mr. Bean movie) and the Johnny English movies where he plays a parody of James Bond.

Jacob Colson

And he's also great in The Thin Blue Line!

Jacob Colson

There's another Johnny English movie in development!

Jacob Colson

I got to hang out in a small town in Texas where they were shooting a scene for Yellowstone! No one got to meet Kevin Costner but em he drove by us and thanked us for being out there watching the scene being filmed. And I also got to meet the cast and crew including Teri Polo when they shot Haunting at the Beacon which was shot in the famous Rogers Hotel in Waxahachie, TX. I almost got cast as an extra but they ran out of time.

By Grapthar's Hammer, what a member!

This is one of the very few movies that had me literally fall off the couch laughing the first time I saw it. (Noises Off was another)

Maarten Martens

Whacky Races is indeed the cartoon version of this! Everything with Hitler's car had me rolling on the floor laughing. This whole movie is bonkers. Absolutely love it.

Cartoons ReAct

it almost won a poll which might explain why you thought of that...also why they watched it as it was a second place

Josip Buretić

The only movie where Rowan Atkinson is kinda like serious character is in my opinion in the movie "Keeping Mum"

Chase Lonnergan

I'd rather watch this instead of Midsommar any day of the week, so this is a wonderful surprise.

Robert Carter

Love the bonus reaction 😊. Rowan Atkinson has a small role in Four Weddings and a Funeral and as others have said, Johnny English and sequels is a James Bond parody where he is the lead.

Jef Etters

I was an extra a couple times, it’s pretty fun.

Jef Etters

Agreed. Thanks for the extra content!

Jef Etters

If you ever watch Rowan Atkinson on a chat show or in an interview being normal, it’s surprising how handsome he is.

Life in the cave of Garanoga

George nailed it when he said it's a live action cartoon. Once you realize that it's stupid fun comedy.

Jonathan Eaton

Rat race!? I’m winning! I’m winning!

Tim Pierce

There was also his role in Hot Shots 2. A comedy, yes, but he was a serious person doing funny things.

Cody Cameron

You guys mentioned this could be re-done again with new cast every few years. This is actually that of a movie called it's a mad mad mad mad world which I do recommend. also the movie Cannonball Run. both would be great for reactions too

Der heilige Stuhl

Rowan Atkinson actually played multiple serious roles..depends if you want to see smales ones or not. And funfact..that guy never ever broke on set..he is one of the most charming and serious persons in life

Chase Lonnergan

I have never understood the perceived villainy of the billionaires. They didn't do anything wrong. Everyone involved with everything they did consented to the wagers, and they told the truth about the money in the locker. There is NO reason to hate them, unless you just assume that anyone with money is a bad person, and... honestly... that just makes you an asshole.

Carlos H

the set pieces are pretty cool in this movie. the helicopter scene is my favorite. it reminds me of Terminator 2's helicopter chase.

Jaaahn

seriously? "they didnt do anything wrong". to simply amass an amount of wealth that no one can possibly spend in 100 life times for no other reason than to grow it more. people can become millionaires through sheer hard work and luck. no one can become a billionaire without exploiting and hurting people in one way or an other. that degree of amassing wealth can only be done by stepping on and over others, by taking advantage and doing actual harm. maybe you dont really understand the staggering difference between million and billion. theres 3028 of them in the world, its not impossible to just look into every one of their past and find evidence of evil deeds.

Chase Lonnergan

There you go. Evidence to my point. In this movie, the "villains" did nothing wrong. They're just hated because it is assumed that owning a tech company, or an oil field, or a casino, or any other successful business just automatically makes you a monster.

Superpotroast

Mad mad mad mad world is a much longer film though..

Jaaahn

you dont think pitting desperate people into a Squid Game kind of 'race' where they are encouraged to harm one another is evil?? you think Casinos exist in the same way a theme park is? the actual psychological trick they use to prey on peoples vulnerabilities and addiction, to ruin lives. none of that sounds evil to you?? tf is wrong with you. you might actually be one of the most disgusting person ive ever spoken to on here.

DasBigUn

The Hitler.....car...everything....LMFAO

Adam

Simone, Wayne Knight’s character on Seinfeld is named “Newman”

Chase Lonnergan

Abused? They paid people to be involved in voluntary wagers. Everything was consensual. They didn't lie about what they were doing... Where was the abuse?

Cartoons ReAct

They've already reacted to It's a Mad Mad World, George mentioned the similarities but couldn't remember the name

Chase Lonnergan

Was that any worse than 90% of the shit done by the racers? Theft, lying, destruction of property (both public and private), borderline terrorism in the case of the airport, assault, drugging one's own family, fraud, interfering with an organ transplant, verbal abuse, and general mayhem that could have gotten people killed?

Jaaahn

that's not how morality works you ignoramus... racers doing bad things doenst then make the billionaires taking advantage of the needy and poor for entertainment less evil... what even is this hill youre so ready to die on. like are you personally a billionaire trying to convince one person at a time you didnt get there through evil deeds? or are you just so privileged youve never experienced terrible things done directly or indirectly by the 0.1%. because i can't tell if you are just super naive or incredibly delusional or straight up a bad person.

Cody Cameron

right I forgot it was so many reactions ago.

Jaaahn

huh? i dont think theyve done Mad Mad World...

Cody Cameron

Right that was Ashleigh Burton LOL

Simone's Coconut Squire

So this is going to sound a bit weird, but one of my favorite more straightforward roles Rowan Atkinson has done is in The Tall Guy with Jeff Goldblum and Emma Thompson. Rowan Atkinson basically plays himself in that movie, but like a movie take on himself as an actor. His character even does his old Mr. Bean gags.

Simone's Coconut Squire

This is basically a remake of an old film called "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" which had a similarly insane all-star cast with Spencer Tracy, Milton Berle, Si Caesar, Buddy Hackett, Ethel Merman, Mickey Rooney, and Jonathan Winters.

PaulChristopher

And between "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World," there was "Cannonball Run," another all-star cast racing for a prize, with Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Farrah Fawcett, Roger Moore, Mel Tillis, Jamie Farr, and others.

Aaron Stinson

“It’s a mad mad mad mad world” is the OG of this type of movie. Unless there’s something older that I’m unaware of

Michael

For more Rowan Atkinson, please oh please 🙏🏻 watch the three Johnny English movies!

Beginning_of_a_new_era

Hope you finish the boys some day Season 3 then gen v season 1 then boys season 4 then gen v season 2

Tim Nicolle

Keeping Mum was what I thought of immediately. A great film actually!

Tim Nicolle

"Keeping Mum" is a great film with Rown Atkinson playing an overly serious Parish priest. Its a really nice movie starting Maggie Smith, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Patrick Swayze.

CommanderBrownCoat

Seeing Cuba Gooding Jr makes me hope y'all get around to watching him in As Good As It Gets! And More Whoopie Goldberg with Sister Act! I think the John Lovitez wife Kathy Najimy is in that one as well! Annnd while I don't think Eddie Izzard was in this movie, I hope to see Mystery Men on a Poll someday! "Disco is life!"

Adam S

Really enjoyed this fun one! For Rowan Atkinson films I love the Johnny English movies where he plays a spy/agent! Johnny English reborn is especially super well done and the best of the trilogy! Also noticed that the boyfriend Amy Smart’s character went to see is played by Dean Cain who played superman in the 90’s tv show. Love Amy Smart in this too! 👌

Jared Winn

Oh no, American hero Dean Cain. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

Charlie Ito

I'm really glad you seemed to thoroughly enjoy the humor in this one; I think about Jon Lovitz quotes from this and The Critic pretty often. I will only add that, as someone who grew up in the United States and saw a lot of I Love Lucy growing up, that part is pretty funny along with the rest of the movie solely because of how it references the original material. Thanks for doing this one! EDIT to add: "I DO NOT! WANT TO work! At HOME DEPOT!"

Craig Motbey

Have y'all never seen Blackadder?

Jesse Coombs

That's the original for sure. But there's also "Scavenger Hunt" and "Million Dollar Mystery", but those movies are terrible.

Charlie Ito

Oh, thanks for the nod to Noises Off, I haven't heard of that one but I love Rat Race! I'll add it to my list.

Rupert Purcat

Yah awesome thanks. As mentioned previously Johnny English for Rowan Atkinson. Also can't wait until you see the James Bond movie he is in, and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Jacob King

The song started on the Mystery Men soundtrack. It was definitely in other films in between. I’ve always respected Smashmouth for understanding that this was their one hit and milking it as hard as possible.

dys

Gloria Allred's legacy has been badly damaged after it came out a few years ago that she and her firm had been working to downplay and silence testimony from Harvey Weinstein victims.

dys

It is just Wacky Racers like George said, just in live action with somehow really good stunt work and practical effects that make the live-action cartoonishness look good, and comedic actors who can pull it off.

Ashkaun

Back when SmashMouth was in everything 😂

Tyler Explains It All

During the movie I was like "that's what you get for working with ICE" lol

Jacob King

Best bit of the reaction was Simone’s face during the milk fight. The Amy Smart helicopter scene was the only bit I had remembered and it’s still the funniest scene. If you like this I can recommend The Bubbleboy also from 2001.

Zachary Plouffe

I didn't realize that was Ron Howard's dad but now that I know it's amazing how much Ron is just aging into him

Darren Harrison

Rowan Atkinson played a diplomat in the Sean Connery James Bond movie "Never Say Never Again" As mentioned below he was also in a series of spy movies as "Johnny English", but my favorite role was as the priest in "Four Weddings and a Funeral"

Maniacalmouse

Great reaction! Just want to join the people saying you should definitely check out the movie this one was inspired by, “It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World”! I will also join the group of people recommending “Johnny English” starring Rowan Atkinson as a James Bond type character.

Eversharpe

Rowan played Maigret in a handful of TV movies as a pretty straight dramatic role. They were pretty good. He also did a lovely little film called Keeping Mum, which is a sort of Mary Poppins style comedy (housekeeper comes in and fixes the family) but its not aimed at kids and has Maggie Smith as the housekeeper.

Dan Holmes

Please watch Johnny English for more Rowan Atkinson!

Jay Willis

Loved this movie growing up. I actually think it's a film that could use a remake/reimagining for today. It'd be fairly easy to adapt to modern times, it's been long enough, and while it was successful I wouldn't say it was super successful to the point where people would groan about a remake. Take some relatively well known actors, a few new comers, a few cameos, throw in a plot of eccentric billionaires betting on them and creating a race, antics ensue. It'd be fun to see them factor in cell phones, maybe EVs, autonomous vehicles, etc.

Jay Willis

My personal favorite scene is the Jon Lovitz Hitler speech scene. 1) it's just absurd and hilarious, 2) the fact Jon Lovitz is doing it.

Win

Cuba Gooding jr comedy Boat Trip it’s also good for pride month

Herby Ragan

This film is very funny, but you should check out the film that this film was inspired by. "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World." So much funnier.

Chris Rivard

You should absolutely check out the original money chase film: It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

Jacob Colson

"...I try to keep awake, I try to keep awake / I try to keep awake but I / I can feel this narcolepsy slide / Into another nightmare..."

AVATAR-X

"Jumpin' Jack Flash" (1986) an adventure rom-com starring Whoopi Goldberg. and might as well include... "Romancing the Stone" (1984) "Undercover Blues" (1993)

Michael Kemmet

The coin flip: The closest thing to the version in the movie happened during the 1983 Super Bowl. In the NFL, they use a special coin for the flip, but it's an identical coin for all regular games. However, each Super Bowl gets its own individual flip coin. Because it's a unique coin, it's not always easy to quickly identify whether it was heads or tails. In 1983, the ref initially got it wrong, but they got it all sorted out after just a few seconds. But the movie version was probably more inspired by a much more recent mistake that was a little different. During overtime in a Thanksgiving game in 1998, the player that was making the call for his team flubbed his answer while the coin was in the air. He had called heads at the beginning of the game and always called heads in previous games. But he decided change it up for overtime and call tails. Except when he actually came to say the word, he started saying heads automatically and it came out "head-tails" or "heh-tails". The rules say the refs have to use the first call given, so the ref said he had called heads and the coin landed tails. But the player immediately said tails multiple more times before the coin hit the ground and felt that was the real call. To this day, he still thinks he got jobbed. Because of this screwup, the NFL immediately changed the rules so the visiting team no longer calls the flip in the air. They now make their decision before the coin is flipped.

PJ P

Rowan Atkinson: Johnny English 1 and 2, and a lesser known film called Keeping Mum (2005)

Zedarion

i would recommend if you guys watched "cannonball run" movies if you guys havent seen those, its almos the same concept.

Peter Dillard

Given how much you guys laughed at this one you've got to watch 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World'. A similar comedy with an ALL STAR CAST including Spencer Tracy.

PickettsChargingPort

This movie is an homage to "It's a mad mad mad mad world"... pretty sure, anyway

Angela D. Mitchell

I have a guilty love of this movie, because it's so willing to go for EVERY SINGLE LAUGH, and because my late stepdad just adored it. He fell out of his chair laughing at Jon Lovitz's "Hitler" speech! And by the time the cow was driving the car, I was laughing my tail off. No pun intended. So damn funny. Pretty good Rowan character impression, George! LOL. As far as a serious role by Rowan, I'd point to his completely straight role in the classic children's horror movie "The Witches," with Anjelica Huston (THE ORIGINAL). He plays a hotel manager having an affair with a maid and he's almost dramatic -- definitely a straight man in that. And it's such a great, if dark movie. And Anjelica is so good too! (So much better than the remake, aghghgh.) Amy Smart's little gremlin face is so cute in the helicopter scene. The guy who runs the race with her is played by Breckin Meyer, one of my favorite character actors. He's also very charming as a supporting character in "Kate and Leopold" (Simone, it's a great romcom if you haven't seen it -- Meg Ryan & Hugh Jackman). And Simone, your kitty trying to give cuddles to your microphone was so funny and so cute!

Angela D. Mitchell

I love Jumpin' Jack Flash so much -- I just try to ignore the gaping plot holes. And Stephen Collins's real-life despicableness.
