Ste Rawlings

Fully expecting George to slip into a cardiac arrest at THAT Julia Fox scene.

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

Last time I truly messed up a meal into hell was when I was making a custom chocolate cheesecake that I make for occasions, and I was really sleepy and a bit out of it cause it was late like 1-2am but I had to get it done. In my daze, i ended doing the classic mistaking sugar for salt and creating a monstrosity that wouldn’t have been out of place in Hellraiser. Not my finest cooking moment

theycallmekev

George: “Patreons, when’s the last time you fucked…” Simone: 😐🤔 George: “…up the dish, a dinner?” Simone: 😮‍💨🤣 ohhhh *realizing 😆😆😆

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

Kevin Garnett is a basketball superstar who played with the Minnesota Timberwolves and then won a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008 about 4 years before this movie is set, he was a huge deal while he played.

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

Also one of my favorite anecdotes about Howard’s gambling addiction from a review of the movie said: “(Howard) betting on the opening tip of the basketball game signifies his gambling addiction in the same way that having a baby indicates you were pregnant”.

Mastervodo

I Simone's mean "Like and Subscribe" messages. Are you NOT mad at me?

ShōNuff3K

I did not enjoy this movie when I first saw it. I actually was happy at the end.

Carlos

I've seen war films that have caused me less stress than this movie. Shout-out to Kevin Garnett for such an unexpected and naturalistic performance.

FWPJR.

Finally the day has arrived, it’s Uncut Gems day. I can’t wait to watch this reaction, I’ve been requesting this movie for years.

FWPJR.

I love Garnett, he’s one of my all time favorite players. I was pleasantly surprised by how well he did in this movie.

Carlos

Have you all watched Good Time by these same directors? Because you should watch Good Time.

HeyHeyJK

So glad you guys finally watched this. The filmmaking and the script on this are amazing. Do yourself a favor if you haven’t already, and watch Adam Sandler‘s acceptance speech for best actor at the independent Spirit awards for the year this came out. It’s really hilarious, of course. Now, if you haven’t already, please watch Punch Drunk Love. I think it was Adam‘s first role that wasn’t one of his silly comedies, and it’s such a unique romcom and lives in its own weird little world and it’s in my top 10 favorite films of all time. Paul Thomas Anderson did it right after Magnolia and I love it so much.

Jeff I.

Yes! Good Time is a brilliant movie. Robert Pattinson gives an amazing performance in it, and Benny Safdie is also really good in his role as well.

Carlos

Yeah, I'd never seen Twilight at that point so that was thankfully my first introduction to Pattinson. His career has been incredible to watch.

Graham Bullman

Enjoyed the reaction, but didn't enjoy this movie at all when I watched it.. Also, I guess i should have watched Andor before watching this reaction. 😮

jay

you guys are back doing a24?! lets go! i would LOOOOOOOVE for you guys to watch denis villeneuve's ENEMY!! would blow your guys' mind!! ALSO: THE LOBSTER (dir. yorgos lanthimos) PI (dir. darren aronofsky)

Ira K.

If we are back to A24, let me officially start begging for The VVitch reaction. You already watched Egger's The Northman and Nosferatu and seemed to like it a lot, so you'll love The VVitch! Love Uncut Gems btw, gonna rewatch it with you for sure

TheBrandonator69

Yes! My favorite Robert Pattinson performance and my favorite Safdie bros film. I need them to do it

CT

135 minutes of Adam at his best yelling at anyone and everyone camera. Such a terrible waste of time and energy this movie was.

Logan Kerlee

Enjoyed this reaction quite a bit more than I enjoyed the movie. lol, this movie had my stomach in knots! The end wasn't completely unexpected but it was obviously extreme. I was caught off guard by it. Holy shit - another movie that I'll never watch again but I'll remember. Thanks for the reaction you two! :)

Arthur

Hell yeah. As much I like Uncut Gems, Good Time is still my fave film from Safdies.

paul rai

If you guys are back into A24 films, I think an A24 poll would be a great way to gage and start catching up some amazing films they’ve released over the last decade. I think you guys are in for some real treats. Uncut Gems, Anxiety Attack, the Movie! It’s definitely unhinged and unrelenting in placing you in the shoes of an impulsive selfish gambler, yet I think Sandler’s charisma and his immense performance just makes you compelled to keep watching, despite how awful and deadly his actions will keep sinking him. In a way, it’s almost fitting that he would die right as he achieved the highest of highs a gambler will ever have: feeling like they won the world and everything they did as worth it. Not a bad way to go out, he just doesn’t get to enjoy the riches (which, Howard would have squandered quickly.)

Dani

as a 76ers fan....this game broke my heart when i was little

Matt Avison

I’ve told people, if you want to know what anxiety feels like watch uncut gems

michael denny

this movie triggered my social anxiety could not finish maybe 30 mins in. The correct answer to "are you mad at me?" is "I am now" by the way.

Niklas Ekman

I had to pause this movie and go to wikipedia to check how it ends. I could not finish this movie without spoiling the ending for myself! I've never done that before! Which I guess means it's pretty damn great movie if it can induce that kind of anxiety.

Ira K.

I second this, we need a poll for A24. So many gems (see what I did there). Bring Her Back, VVitch, Pearl... I'M BEGGING

m

"he's actually just jizzing his pants" okay, not how i predicted the cinebinge/samberg arc to turn out but a ride's a ride

Matt O'Keefe

Thank God they got back to watching A24 stuff. And I pick The Witch all day

Dan

I'm not great at picking a voice out of a crowd so I'm mostly just listening to you guys talk about what's going on :)

Philipp Roensch

My fucked up dish: Try to make a sweet potato dish for christmas, never did before and they still require sugar? Well, I messed it up instead, grabbing waaaay too much salt. It was saline paste. What a wonderfully chaotic movie, but in the right way, confusing a bit with the equal noise level and all that overlap. It so very well captures the intensity of this hustler, his constant gamble and disregard for his surroundings. I don't know what the experts say, is it more ADHD to quickly suffer in such an environment or to thrive in it? I believe people like Howie exist and do only get more energetic the more is going on. Sometimes, I only get things done when the task is 'at hand', but never like this. The flow of the movie though, impressive.

cincassette

I've only seen this movie once a couple of years ago, and I really hated it back then. I probably would't have ever rewatched it if it wasn't for this reaction, but I can definitely appreciate the filmmaking a lot more this time around. It's a masterclass of writing, sound design and editing, really making you feel Howard's stress. I still hated the viscerality and anxiety of watching it this time around, and probably won't return to it. There are plenty of thrillers that have a similar stress or spiralling futility built in, but no others I have seen push it as far as this one.

sandrowitz

This movie just really makes you hate how much the NBA pushes gambling now when it got legalized in most states

mike moake

I messed up the bolognese last week, I was in a rush and forgot to drain the grease. It was bad, I was using a spoon and spooning off as much of it as I could. I still ate it, but it wasn't great.

Brandon

I was making a Chicken Tikka Masala recently and I put too many cashews into the tomato gravy part of the dish. If you blend cashews in a spice grinder and add it to the sauce It gives a really rich flavour. BUT if you use too many like I did then the sauce can taste too bitter. I ended up fixing it by adding extra strained tomatoes. Then I added some garam masala for flavor so as not to just dilute it with tomato. Then I let the sauce cook down to get thicker again. It ended up tasting pretty good and the family liked it. I know it would have been better if I had just used less cashews in the first place. Luckily the chicken itself turned out amazing.

akaTheBAY-AY-RON

Just finished the movie...Ok, I'm going to watch Happy Gilmore now, f**k this! LOL

Matt Dellarosa

I have to be honest, I never made it through this movie. It was way too stress inducing for me. My anxiety was through the roof in the first ten minutes of the movie. LOL, I did want to see yalls reaction to it though. Uncomfortable movie to watch but very well made.

Luca Spurgeon

This was right up there with his performance in another anxiety and stress filled movie, 'Punch-Drunk Love'. Sandler is phenomenal at portraying this type of character. Hes very good at being the odd, down and out guy in 'Reign Over Me' as well. His acting range is severely underrated.

Ste Rawlings

You should check out Good Time, it's from the same directors, it also has that febrile energy but to a much lesser degree and it has a lot more heart.

M.C.G

Punch-Drunk Love is far and away my favorite use of Sandler

Andrew

My favorite part of the reaction was that George and Simone were into the basketball game at the end. 😂

mpd

This is my comfort film, when I need to unwind after a long day

Sheens

Please watch Good Time. As much as I love Uncut Gems, I think Good Time is better.

Drew

I had no plans on watching this after I saw it in theaters. This is one of those greats that make you feel so powerfully, you never need to see again. Like The Revenant, once was enough

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Been waiting on this day since “Happy Gilmore” became the first Adam Sandler reaction on the channel. He really can be a captivating presence when he feels like trying. Although I guess even when he’s just in it for the bag he has plenty of people engaged in his brand of comedy. Hope y’all can check out some of his other roles where he shows off his chops, like “Punch Drunk Love” & “ The Meyerowitz Stories”. And a big huzzah for the return to A24 flicks, here’s hoping everything goes well (no more lost audio & other mishaps). Lots of good suggestions so far, so I’ll throw in “The Green Knight” & “Under the Silver Lake” for consideration.

Tcrimson05T

Am I the only one that also likes Spanglish?

Brian Moore

I love that movie! Having a longtime gf from Mexico City I think helps me relate to it.

Tcrimson05T

If anything this confirms me that they need to watch The bear lol

Adam

Good time is another movie to watch. It’s a good one for sure

Chris Kelley

I would like to see them watch Spanglish. Sandler in a serious role but still a movie with some comedy.

MacGuffinStuff

Talk about a Macguffin, and a whole lot of other stuff 😆 No but this is my second watch and I loved it the first time but had not rewatched until now because it is pretty rough, especially the ending. Gives me big ALPHA DOG vibes, just in that it's a crazy story (true story btw, Alpha Dog that is, and mostly took place not far from me) that is just crazy how all these people, mostly teenagers and early 20s in Alpha Dog, all managed to contribute, often inadvertently, to a cluster fuck, which is so realistic. Also, the chaotic vibe of this movie really felt like the average tourist's takeaway after just a little time in NYC lol, I love it there, but only visiting. Rule No. 1: "Mind ya business!" And I had to laugh because I've known guys like Arno, rich kid who wants to be a player, hires guys from the street who end up playing him the fool, dumbass rich boys from Rancho Cucamonga and Riverside (like Alpha Dog).

MacGuffinStuff

Gambling is crazy, I don't do it, I love Blackjack because that's not gambling, wish I could play Poker, also a game of skill not chance (ROUNDERS, por favor, it's great), but I tell you I wish I would have bet on the Dodgers against Toronto after Game 6 of the World Series, I thought for sure the Dodgers, my team since 7 (years old, not game 7 lol), would somehow blow it again and they pulled it off with some insane plays and clutch hitting, Miguel Rojas tying in the 9th with a homer after not hitting for a month was like Chris Pratt in Moneyball, like wtf? I wish you guys had a team, I'm not a sports guy really, I watch it casually, once in a while, baseball and boxing mostly. The thing about sports and gaming as well, if you think about it, vis a vis movies and books. Books and movies, fiction, are stories told through events with intention, fictional but not untrue. Sports and certain types of gaming, a series of events (individual plays) that become a story, after the fact and in the retelling. I feel like you guys have said something similar already but yeah. Anyway it's fun to have a team you root for and even when they literally drop the ball, it's, well I think you're kind of missing out on something, it's in no way important really, but I think it's an interesting social experience to be a part of a fan base (flash forward to George getting kicked out of a Canadiens game for heckling the Edmonton players, meanwhile Simone is choking out an Anaheim Ducks fan at a Canucks game).

Brandon Meng

Okay that was fun but now must watch PUNCH DRUNK LOVE, the other offbeat uncharacteristic Adam Sandler drama. The better movie imo.

John

The crew of Aliens was notoriously antagonistic toward James Cameron and probably thought Aliens was trash while it was being made. Aliens is generally considered one of the best sequels to have ever been made

gfixler

What sadists voted for us to watch this? Wow, I'm exhausted. I actually thought "Oh, Adam Sandler in a serious film. Maybe it won't be all loud and shouty for once." Welp!

Mike Kay

Haven't felt this much anxiety and stress from a movie since the movie "The Paper" with Michael Keaton, Robert Duvall, and Glen Close. Wow.

Daniasaurus

A movie you need to check out is Anora. It has a similar vibe to this movie where one shitty decision leads to another crazy thing and then another. It's one of my favorites from 2024. I love movies with lead characters like this. Either ones that are unlikeable or just make poor choices. I feel like it's more interesting for me than someone that's just 100% good all the time and it feels more realistic to me as well.
