Absolutely love this film. Can't wait to see your reactions tonight.

Cinebinge

Hi Mike. Could you please clarify which video does not work? Which link? And in what way? Are you seeing any errors? Thanks

Mike FromOz

Really interested to see how you and other people react to this film, especially since the need for phone booths has pretty much been superseded by mobile phones. Back in the day, if you didn't want to carry around a huge brick phone with you, yeah these were needed a lot. It would pretty much stop this film from the get-go, especially as a confined location for a film. Haven't seen this in ages, let's do it!

Cc Decc

Just tested, and both links above worked for me -- desktop PC, Windows. Edit: meant all three -- both the yt, and the .ca links. Just normally don't use the "have your own copy" link.

Carlos

One of my favorite thrillers.

Mike Palmer

Sorry was my VPN on my network I turned off my wifi started video then turned wifi back on and it kept playing

Christian Da Silva

If you guys liked this movie, you should definitely watch The Cable Guy with Jim Carrey in it.

Cc Decc

Yeah, back in the 90s and 00s there were a whole series of movies featuring people trapped in small spaces. they were of varying quality, but the overall plot device was reliably tension inducing. This channel has seen Speed, which may have kicked it off (as well as its unfortunate sequel), and now Phone Booth, but there were also: Executive Decision (1996) -- airplane Locke (2013) -- car Buried (2010) -- !!! Devil (2010) -- elevator Cube (1997) -- maze Panic Room (2002) -- panic room Flightplan (2005) -- airplane Redeye (2005) -- airplane

Aatxe

Forgot to mention a fun fact about this film. The writer, Larry Cohen, originally pitched the basic idea of a film occurring entirely in a phone booth to Alfred Hitchcock in the 60's. Hitchcock loved the idea, but neither could think of a good reason as to why the main character would stay in the phone booth, until long after Hitchcocks death.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Excellent film with great work by all, and another reminder how undeniably great the Messrs Farrell and Whitaker are. Will recommend as many others have to watch “The Last King of Scotland” for the latter’s Oscar winning turn! Also have long had a soft spot for the late Mr Schumacher’s work, especially St Elmo’s Fire which is truly worth the watch! ☺️

Christian Da Silva

In regards to the poop comment at the beginning of this conversation: We don't watch enough real poop drama in movies and I'm not kidding, here me out: we see Arnold Schwarzenegger in Commando kicking ass for almost two hours, but in the movie time, at least 2 or 3 days go on, and at some point in his journey he probably went to the bathroom. Why don't they ever show that? I don't mean I'd like to actually SEE the poop, but there's not even a scene showing how he relates to other human beings by just going to the bathroom. You can say the same with John Wick, any Tom Cruise movie or even any other movies or shows in general. If you think about it, it's because of the very 0.0001% of bathroom scenes that most movies or shows are great. For example in Breaking Bad season 5 episode 8, showcasing one of the best poop scenes in show history.

Poineapples

Oh man I remember being shown this movie when I was 8 and loving it, my mom on the other hand hated it because "It all happens in the same place" she also said Wall-E sucked because there was barely any talking while I loved that movie so you can guess how much I cared for her opinions 😤

Life in the cave of Garanoga

One of the most underrated films of its time. Marketing did a good job but people just weren't sold on the idea of a whole movie in a phonebooth. Which sucks because it has a short runtime especially for movies of the era. It's an amazing example of giving a story the exact time it needs and not fluffing or cutting it for no reason but runtime. It did a little better on video but even then I just couldn't get people to take a chance on it. The first question I always got asked was "Does it really all take place in a phonebooth?". Can't wait to watch this one with you two.

Carson

If you two wanna see an impressive performance from Kiefer Sutherland, I highly recommend watching the show 24

Aatxe

Bruh, if they get hooked, then that is a COMMITMENT. 8 seasons, 24 episodes per season, one TV movie between seasons 6 and 7, and a 12 episode "mini series" to close out the story completely. I'm all for it, but I want people know what they're getting into if George and Simone watch the whole series 🤣

Kyuzou

or young guns 1 and 2, think its time for some more westerns :)

Chris Kelley

If you’re going to start counting f*cks per minute you’ll need to check out Midnight Run(1988). Good movie but I can’t imagine how you would edit it for YouTube. (This is from comments made in the full length reaction at the end)

temsik28

Either of you seen the TV show "24"? Basically this. Kiefer Sutherland, real time, split screens, 24 episodes a season, 1 hour per episode, and pure chaos. I need to rewatch those.

Max Carter

Been a long time since I've watched this but remember always enjoying it. Feel like you guys would like Unstoppable. It's not really like this movie but is a fun tight fast paced action movie directed by Tony Scott

Mastervodo

I would love to see Simone and George watch St. Elmo's Fire.

Mike W

I'd forgotten how much I like this movie. As you'd mentioned lost boys at the start I felt for sure you'd get who was on the phone 😄

Chris

a good film with keifer Sutherland you need to watch. mirrors

Lloyd Franklin

I never answer the phone unless I'm expecting a call. If I'm not expecting someone then they can leave a voicemail and I will call them back.

Truth

Kiefer Sutherland is iconic. He is exceptional in his thriller show 24. You guys would absolutely love it. We need more Kiefer Sutherland on the channel.

Jacob Colson

Hec, Kiefer's on the dvd/blu-ray cover as well. I wish they didn't do that.

Truth

The show 24 also occurs in real time.

Jacob Colson

Cinebinge, Colin Farrell did the big confession scene in one take. And the film was supposed to be released in November of 2002, but 20th Century Fox delayed the release to April 4th 2003 because in October 2002, the Beltway sniper attacks occured in the Washington, D.C. area.

Data Cable

...and makes prolific use of split-screen... and stars Kiefer Sutherland.

Nanners

I haven’t watched this one in ages. Forgot how good it is!

Christian Da Silva

At 1:26:50 the video just stops completely and freezes.

blerbaberpaterb

....worked fine for me all the way through... sounds like network issue on your end...

Elvenwitch

I am having the exact same problem at the exact same time code.

Cinebinge

Hi there, please try clearing your cache and see if it helps with the issue, as well could you tell me what device/browser you are using? and which version were you watching? thank you

i second Unstoppable

Zhivko Yakimov

It is a bit funny to me how you didn't recognise Kiefer Sutherland's voice, but I guess it shows my age :) Anyway, Sutherland's career had just picked up again at the time, mostly due to the "24" TV series, so he was hard to miss. He has such a smooth and soothing, yet creepy voice, much more disturbing than Kevin Spacey, whose voice is plain creepy. As others have recommended, you may consider 24 as another long-term TV show for the channel. During the 2000s, it made Sutherland one of the biggest action starts on TV, and it features plenty of other great actors, like Dennis Haysbert, Sarah Clarke, Penny Johnson Gerald, Carlos Bernard, Xander Berkeley, Gregory Itzin, Annie Wersching (RIP), and many others. The two Young Guns movies are also a good idea, they were quite the thing in 1988 and 1990. They feature plenty of other hot actors from the late 80s/early 90s, like Emilio Estevez, Lou Diamond Phillips, Dermot Mulroney, Christian Slater, and even Charlie Sheen. Besides, the soundtrack of the second movie features one of Jon Bon Jovi's biggest hits, "Blaze of Glory".

Sarah Rose

To add to your intro question, random meetcute moment could be at a Walgreens panickingly buying period products before a big corp meeting, in white pants with blood already seeping through, all the while someone rolls up like “uhm, you need help?” 🫣😅 (not that periods are gross, but I think a lot of people who menstruate would relate to the “well f*ck,” moment) For the movie, by far in my tops of favorite movies — very underrated and not talked about enough. I loved the pacing, the intensity, and all actors did an amazing job. This, to me, is one of Colin’s best pieces. His confession scene gets me every time. I also appreciate that this film can’t be made today. It’s like a time capsule of the era. I’m sure some exec out there is trying to find ways to reboot this one, but I just don’t think it’s possible.

2026-09-13 17:00 Daredevil was a great film. You just have bad taste in films, George. You like Lord of the Rings, that alone says you have bad taste in films.

CloudseaDjinn

This movie reminds me of Panic Room which also has Forest Whitaker, but I haven't seen that movie in awhile so I could just be misremembering

Jose Robles

Other great thrillers around devices: Cellular with Chris Evans, Jason Statham and... Kim Bassinger I think, more recent one Searching, with John Cho, (Harold from Harold and Kumar). In case you do a poll about that, I think there more good movies like that.

Andrew

Fun fact: Joel Schumacher claimed to have had sex with between 10,000 and 20,000 men during his life.

Ginger

I recommend the first two seasons. After that it's just more and more: "torture is the only solution to solve ANY problem", it gets completely ridiculous. Actually you can clearly tell which seasons were produced under which president, as the show itself even acknowledges this later on. (Like "We don't do these things anymore." And then of course he goes ahead and does those things.

Ginger

Panic Room would be another great one to watch. To answer your question at the end: In my opinion he's definitely NOT a good guy, not even remotely. Of course the other people deserved severe punishment, a life in prison maybe. But this is not his decision to make. I'm 100% for due process and against the death penalty, regardless of the crime. No matter how broken the justice system is, vigilantes killing people can't be the alternative. And honestly, I think that's what the movie is trying to convey. You noticed that the "crime" Stu was being punished for was WAY less severe than what the others did. Yet for the (I think even nameless) antagonist there was no difference, he was seen as equally guilty. So where do we draw the line, in which cases is it okay to behave the way the antagonist did - and since we have to assume that the others were tormented in a similar way: How much of that is okay? I'd say none of it. (As I said, obviously they should be punished, no question. If they're convicted, found guilty and sentenced, that's what the whole legal system is for. Again - broken as it often may be.)

Anonymous Andy

Gonna echo some other sentiments I’ve seen here and recommend cellular (2004) with Chris Evans. I recently learned that the writer of phone booth, Larry Cohen, also did the story of that film, seems like he was fascinated by the end of traditional telecommunications and the rise of the cellphone, and wanted to tell stories exploring both of these topics

RushSlayer

Well here’s a sentence I never thought I’d type out. “I’m on Simone’s side on the shitz conversation”

Monica Alarcon

Same here, the other version works fine, I switched to it just to watch the post movie discussion.

Jonathan Eaton

So weird you mention Lost Boys at the beginning then don't recognize Kiefer Sutherland's voice. To me he has one of the most recognizable voices. But then again, I'm old, to me Kiefer is just Donald's son.

Ginger

YES, I was waiting for them to recognise his voice throughout the movie. :D I'm really surprised his name wasn't even on the poster though. And the movie didn't have any opening credits to give this away. To me he's mostly "the guy from 24". ^^

Cinebinge

looks like its possibly an encoding error, uploading a new copy now and will relink soon.

Jedi Lounger

So if you guys want more Keifer Sutherland, I would add 24 (2001) to the TV list. You don't have to watch it all, seasons 2 to 8 and the event series are uneven, some good, some bad. But Season 1 won multiple awards for a reason.

Ginger

What's that in "fucks per minute"? (callback to the end of the video) ^^

OddThomas

Definitely need to watch Panic Room. For more Radha Mitchell: Silent Hill. Katie Holmes: The Gift. Joel Schumacher: Batman Forever. Kiefer: Flatliners. Forest Whitaker: Blown Away.

OddThomas

A VERY underrated single location thriller is Wind Chill starring Emily Blunt.

Vengeance

Flatliners is great. Completely forgot about that film.

The Dark Unknown

God you guys really would LOVE BBC Sherlock between the incredibly dialog and some of the best editing and visual styling I've ever seen! I really hope it gets reacted to soon. Great reaction by the way love this movie

Jeff K.

George's former profession has made it so that I cannot read "BBC Sherlock" and start snickering in the most immature way imaginable.

Jeff K.

Shout out to when I was a kid, and the little town where I grew up in Vermont had a lake that spanned the border with Canada, where Donald had a house. They'd often bring their boat down to my town to a restaurant there, and I remember when Kiefer was dating Julia Roberts, they came into town to this outdoors gear shop and the owners shut it completely down for them to shop on their own. (Donald was my first ever celebrity sighting, though I was too young to know who he was; my family and I were at that restaurant I mentioned when I was like 5 or 6, and talking about how Donald Sutherland was sitting across the room, so when I went up to go to the bathroom, I passed by him in the corridor, looked up at him, he looked down at me, and then when I got back to my table, said, "I just saw Donald Sutherland! Who's Donald Sutherland?") Speaking of Donald Sutherland: is this a roundabout way for me to say I hope George and Simone watch Beerfest? Not really, but let's pretend it was because I'd love for them to crack some beers and watch that movie.

Jeff K.

Cellular has a terrific cast. William H. Macy and Noah Emmerich are in it, as well, and it's written by the same dude who wrote Phone Booth.

Jeff K.

Panic Room: one of the only Jared Leto movies I can actually sit through. Helps that he's surrounded by two of the all-time greats in Jodie Foster and Forrest Whitaker, of course, as well as a very, very young Kristen Stewart giving a strong performance, and Dwight Yoakam giving a stellar performance as well.

Tim

I know others have mentioned this, but 24 seasons are GREAT. 8 Solid seasons and a 2 hour movie. I refuse to acknowledge the Reboot "season". Sorry to those who do. You mentioned multiple times about how it was shot, and 24 has that same Quadrant Real-time feel. Each episode is 1 hour of a day. If you are one of those questioning how many episodes are in a season, I would refer you to the guy who was shocked that the titanic actually sunk in the movie. ha ha! I LOVE this film and completely underrated for the time. This movie could NOT be made today. It shows how this was the end of an era about conceptualizing a script without changing the time period to align with the story (Final Destination style). Also, for a movie for what it is, "Shot on Location" there was very minimal Location, and only a few shots! 😜 I really enjoyed this reaction and the on the edge action!

Thall

God i have nothing but respect for Colin Farrel. I hope you'll do The Banshees of Inisherin at some point, its such a good performance

Jacob Colson

I thought they'd see the poster with Kiefer on it and that it'd ruin the surprise of him being "The caller". Hell, I wish they didn't do that for the dvd/blu-ray.

Jacob Colson

Simone talking about the moving robot reminds me of when she saw that woman in Twister eating a sandwich. lol

Jeff K.

If you wanna see even more of Colin Farrell's range, highly recommend checking out Banshees of Inisherin. It's a movie that I'm still not entirely sure I *like* per se, but the performances across the board are PHENOMENAL. And it's a reunion between Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, and Martin McDonagh, who wrote and directed them in In Bruges. It was also my introduction to Barry Keoghan, who absolutely crushes in it. Farrell is positively spectacular in the film.

Jacob Colson

Kiefer Sutherland is also a musician. Yeah, that's right. IMO, a good one at that. He's released three country-rockish albums so far. Also, I'm sure it'll blow peoples minds when they find out Keanu Reeves plays bass in a band called Dogstar since the 90s!

Jacob Colson

A slept on Forest Whitaker role I've always liked is Street Kings. Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie. I know it's not one of Keanu's most popular, but I love it.

Ashton Lewis

Agree 100%. Also check out Seven Psychopaths for more Colin Farrell and Martin McDonagh, with a dollop of Sam Rockwell and a healthy spoonful of Christopher Walken. Both films are excellent

Cc Decc

I've always been curious how the Sutherlands lost a full foot in a generation. How tall was mom?

Simone's Coconut Squire

Dumbest plot excuse: A millionaire goes on the presidential campaign trail because he hates windmills. Oh wait…

Inkpendude

Bad guy wins, but this bad guy kills pedophiles so...

Max Krause

I'm sure the phone booth from Phone Booth now has a nice place in a fancy Hollywood restaurant, right next to the cane from Citizen Kane.

Aatxe

While that is a common trope in the latter seasons, I do think it is a gross over simplification of the the latter seasons. Especially season 5, which many fans agree is the best season.

Jeff K.

I haven't seen that but I feel like George and Simone should also be aware of the fact that Forest Whitaker made a film called Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai that, while I have not seen it, I know it's actually genuinely beloved by many, many people who have.

Gizmo_Mogwai_

Always a treat to watch a movie I've never seen before along with you guys. This was so suspenseful throughout, great movie.

Jeff K.

In fairness to the poster aspect: I had to pause and squint while watching the reaction to find his name, and while it's on there, it's buried pretty deep so I was actually a little relieved that they didn't seem to see it.

jmundt33a

The best of Schumacher in brief. His best is A Time to Kill. Both Sutherland and Farrell had history working with him before this.

Polecat21

I'm with Simone - Having the shitz = diarrhea

Monica Alarcon

Taking in account when he was born and when he died he lived approximately 41,935,680 minutes (I don't have the exact time of birth and death) so taking his lowest estimation of 10000 it would be 0.000238 FPM. If you take the highest it would be 0.000477 FPM. If you go by the average of 15000 then it would be 0.000358 FPM... So now you know, and knowing is half the battle...

TGrimace

God. I would be sitting at my computer, constantly refreshing the page to watch a 24 reaction.

Graeme McCutcheon

George, if you like efficient movies, should check out a couple of HK movies by Soi Cheang - Accident and Motorway. Great little thrillers with no fat. (Feel free to react to them to though, but suspect they're a bit niche) Regarding the chat at the end about the actual booth, the repository of useless information that is my long-term memory somehow recalled (from the DVD commentary I listened to literally decades ago, WTF brain?) that it was fake as it was all movie magic - it was largely actually filmed in Spring St in LA as shutting down a street in NY would have blown their budget

Christian Da Silva

I think the reload helped because I was just able to finish the video. Thanks!

Foggy

another movie feat. forest whitaker you guys should check out: panic room

Prince Mora

Love this movie and Simone's hair is beautiful 🤩

Ken

Michael L.

Colin Ferrell's performance is too good here for such a lacklustre movie.

JBK405

I'm unfairly biased against this movie, because I had a horrible first time watching it. It was on a TV which only had a single audio hookup instead of Left+Right audio, so the DVD player just plugged in the Left audio, and some of the conversations were HEAVILY stereo-split. What this meant was that the dialogue only came over either the Left or Right channels, not both, so for the opening act (Primarily Stu's phone conversations with people) I literally missed half the conversation. Stu's dialogue came through, but everybody he spoke to was silent. We SAW them, but no sound. I thought it was some avant-garde style that they were trying for, and it was just confusing. Eventually somebody who had aleady seen the film told me that we were SUPPOSED to be hearing the entire conversations and I understood what was going on. But by that point I was a half-hour into the movie. Going back it obviously makes more sense, and I can admit that it's probably entertaining for other people, but it's firmly locked into "bad viewing experience" in my mind.

JoeNotCharles

This was the first thing I saw Colin Farrell in, and he made such an impression that I still can't shake the feeling that he's a slimy asshole every time I see him.

REDR58

And???

REDR58

Seconded. I just watched it for the first time in the last few months and it is fantastic.

Eversharpe

"This is my trivia hand" was right there for the taking. I always thought that the pizza guy was an accomplice/patsy, Recruited specifically for the purpose of escape in case of police discovery, but used for the pizza delivery as well.

REDR58

"Wait a minute, there was no cane in Citizen Kane!" (In reality, there are at least 2 canes in that movie. One seen in the hands of Kane as he comes down the steps with Suzan Alexander after marrying her, fending off the throngs of reporters and then in the scene at The Inquirer Building, during the song and dance routine in Kane's honor, the master of ceremonies is holding a cane!) So, TECHNICALLY, Lisa is right. There "was no cane" (singular). There are two! First cane, at 06:02 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30Q6ylhwVq4 Second cane at 01:10 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDO_bh4G5zo

REDR58

Not the recent remake! Flatliners (1990)

REDR58

Well, there is a phone in that movie, so.

REDR58

The "Director's Cut" is decent, but it's still not great.

REDR58

That'd not the first time real life events have caused a change to a movie or TV show. The one that sticks in my mind the most (as I was around at the time) was that the TV show "The Greatest American Hero" (1981-1983) had its main character named "Ralph Hinkley" but after John Hinckley Jr., shot President Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1981, the last name was changed to "Hanley" for two episodes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72MxOo5koto

REDR58

When the narrator/The Caller is talking about how the old phone booth was to be torn down, in the background is an ad for “NetZero” proclaiming “free Internet access forever." The service began in 1998 and apparently is still offering 10 hours of free dial-up internet access per month: https://help.netzero.net/support/faq/fg01.html I really, thoroughly dislike this blue color-grading and do not miss this era of filmmaking with the green/blue tinge. Absolutely hideous. The only thing I do miss about those old cell phones was the durability. But they were just too damn small. The narrator/Caller said that “Verizon” was shutting down the phone, but notice that it is marked as a “Bell Atlantic” phone booth on the top and on the handset you can also see a worn “Bell Atlantic” sticker. But there is also a “Verizon” sticker on the glass. The reason for both names is that Bell Atlantic, which was formed in 1983, changed its name to “Verizon” in 2000 and so all the equipment labeling had likely not been updated yet. Radha Mitchell as Kelly Shepard was in “Pitch Black” as Carolyn Fry. the ship pilot who is (annoyingly) killed off. George, “ESU” is short for “Emergency Service Unit”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NYPD_Emergency_Service_Unit

REDR58

Possibly, though he looked genuinely hurt when Stu told him to get lost.

keoma songs

I know people have mentioned that this movie was written by Larry Cohen, but I have to PLEA that people check out some of the movies he wrote and directed in the 70s and 80s. Q: THE WINGED SERPENT (1982) is more than just a claymation monster movie. It also has one of the finest screen performances in history by Michael Moriarty. Every review you'll ever read, even ones that were mixed on the movie during release (like Siskel & Ebert), or comedy podcasts that make fun of it for being a 'bad movie' (like How Did This Get Made).... They ALL mention his standout performance. He's that incredible in the film. THE STUFF (1985) is a horror satire in the vein of THE BLOB about a frozen dessert, with the wonderful tagline: "Are you eating it, or is it eating you?" And the last one I'll recommend is ... IT'S ALIVE (1974), a huge horror hit in it's time, another killer tagline: "There's only ONE thing wrong with the Davis baby ... IT'S ALIVE!". A truly upsetting movie. One thing that people always recognize about Larry Cohen movies and it's the same with Phone Booth, they always had great actors given great material to give great performances, despite being b-movie schlock horror or action. He always gave actors reasons to desire to do his movies, the roles always gave them so much to work with. He worked with Moriarty several times and always had a different kind of role for him, it was never a repeat performance and was new every time. IT'S ALIVE has a scene similar enough to Colin Farrell's big finale in PHONE BOOTH that's possibly even more stunning. If you want a good movie react to George and Simone, or just you the audience reading this at home, check out some more Larry Cohen, one of the last unique auteurs of a bygone age.

REDR58

What was everyone's first cell Phone? Mine was a Nokia 5190 that I got around 1998 or so. It featured interchangeable faceplates, but I only ever had the black one: www.mobilecollectors.net/phone/1382/nokia-5190 That phone could receive but not send short text messages, about 50 characters as I recall. I think I only used that 5190 for a few years and may have had another Nokia after that (but I don't remember), but I got my first iPhone3G in 2006 and it's been nothing but iPhones since (except for an LG L22C work phone for about a year). I still have every cell phone, including the LG) I have ever used, with the exception of whatever came in between the 5190 and the iPhone 3G. Never used a Blackberry, but I remember well when they were dominant.

DuplicitousDuck

The DVD menu for this movie still haunts me. It starts with loud ringing phones and then Kiefer the Pirate doing his creepy "Isn't it funny?" line. Have been awoken by creepy Kiefer threatening me so many times.

Tiago Ferreira

Please, please, please... review The Negotiator with Samuel L. Jackson

Darren Harrison

It blows my mind that two Canadians wouldn't instantly recognize the voice of Kiefer Sutherland. Simone even references "Lost Boys" in the intro

REDR58

To be fair, he was wearing glasses the whole time.

s0rd3z

I had never seen this and quite enjoyed it. Efficient, to the point and what they managed to do with just one city block and a guy in a phone booth is impressive.

Andras Beck

We watched 24 with Ze Wife and loved it. Also there is a pro-cyclist named Jack Bauer. As a cycling fan, I saw his name often during race coverage, and every time it cracked me up :) "My name is Jack Bauer, and this is the longest day of my life." It is fitting for a road cyclist :)

Andras Beck

What I really miss from the DVD era are the well-designed DVD menus. Streaming a movie couldn't hold a candle to those.

Andras Beck

Exactly. Without glasses, he is jsut Jack Bauer. Glasses changes a man's personality :)

jmundt33a

Good film. Spacey and David Morse too.

Wow!! What a great one!!!

REDR58

It’s basically a Superman/Clark Kent situation except he kills people.

I posit that Batman and Robin is the only truly terrible Batman movie. Batman Forever is exactly what Warner Bros. wanted: a kid-friendly film. it still has deep themes and deals perhaps the most honestly with Bruce Wayne/Batman's identity crisis. it also has a batshit crazy aesthetic. it does lean into camp, (Tommy Lee Jones apparently decided to go very big to not be outdone by Jim Carrey, but I think if he played it subdued and sinister he would've been far more effective) but that's part of the charm. Yes, bat nipples are stupid, but when you factor in Joel wanting the suit to be reminiscent of ancient roman battle armor with sculpted abs and what not, it makes more sense. Also Phone Booth is a great thriller. one of my absolute favorites.

OddThomas

Yeah people unfairly lump Batman Forever and Batman & Robin together. Forever is very campy but still a great Batman movie. It was the 6th highest grossing film of 1995.

p0sthum4n

Agreed, Batman Forever is excellently campy. No more curtains 1, 2, or 3 just plain CURTAINS!!!!

It's been a long time since I saw it, but the movie "Cellular" (2004) was a similar type of movie that I recall being pretty decent. Maybe it can be added to your list if it's not there already. Side Question: Are you going to react to "Riddick" someday?

bdennis2004

The first time I saw Inglorious Basterds, it made me think of this movie as far as spending so much time with extended tension, just edge of your seat stuff.

Carlos

Holy shit, first time I ever noticed Naruto goddamned Uzumaki is in this lol.

George: "Is that Kevin Spacey?" Someone did not watch 9 seasons of 24 😆 I know that voice better than my own.

gfixler

That's what I thought this was! The opening seemed really out of place, until I realized 10 minutes in this was not at all the same film 😆

The opening of this, with all the wheeling and dealing, remind me of the show. Con, which ran for 2 months back in 2005. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Con_(TV_series) It stars a con artist (not really), who shows off how to con people, and I just shook my head the entire time. So many schemes, and one was calling different companies and saying you had one of the others lined up for something. He would do that in a triangle, and get everyone in on the idea, all thinking the other ones had jumped in first. It was one thing after another, too, like he'd finish a call, hang up, and flip up his trunk to reveal a bunch of different, empty cups to different fast food places, grab the one he was at, walk in, and use the "free refill" to fill it up at machine and walk back out.

Matt Blanchette

Didn't they shoot this in Vancouver? Or was it Montreal?

Matt Blanchette

They're Canadian; they OUGHT to know this guy's voice! :-P lol Son of one of the greatest actors the country's ever produced; GRANDson of the man who gave the country Medicare! Even look a little like him, too!

Matt Blanchette

You kidding? WITH glasses, he's Tommy Douglas! :-P

Matt Blanchette

Oh, Morse is FANTASTIC. :-D My favourite George Washingotn outside of the bald "Hamilton" one!

Cellular is good.

Rant Al’More

Hey can you put “push” on a poll?

Mr.Crowwave

Hell Yeah, I was coming here to say the same thing. I recommend Cellular any chance that I can. Cheesy early 2000 fun. Also written by the same writer as Phone Booth. Instead of a doing a movie with someone stuck on a phone but can't move he wanted to do one where someone was stuck on the phone but could go anywhere. Also don't forget a fun performance from William H Macy

REDR58

Very good! In “John Adams”!

Never push on a pole.

Richard

They did the pizza guy dirty lol

unclegaga1979

I'm sure someone has mentioned the tv show 24 which featured Kiefer Sutherland in his his most notable character, the legendary Jack Bauer.

unclegaga1979

I just started rewatching 24 for the fourth or fifth time and Jack Bauer is one of the greatest tv characters in the history of tv.

Phone Booth was released in theaters in the beginning of 2003 but it was supposed to come out in the fall of 2002 but was pushed back to a later date because a real-life father and son snipers were shooting and killing random people in Washington, D.C.

I second that. both were great "phone call" movies. I remember seeing both as a kid, they were both great.

If you liked this combo of Colin Farrell and Joel Schumacher, you should check out the movie they made together right before this called Tigerland. I feel these two movies were Schumacher doing his apology tour for Batman and Robin.

RickyTicky

Man, you guys would love Colin Farrell in SEASON 2 OF TRUE DETECTIVE. I know for some reason people say they don't like it. I admit season one is probably the best. But to me season 2 is just as good. Also with Vince Vaughn, and Rachel McAdams. I think its by far her best performance of anything I've ever seen her in. All three of them are amazing in it. Please watch it! 🙏🙏🤞🤞 Lol
