I'm sad that this season has been so short. Can someone put me in a medically-induced coma until October 2027, when season 3 is supposed to come out?

s0rd3z

I'm so sad we have reached the end of this one for now. This is probably my favorite new show I have watched this year so far. (Anime or otherwise).

Hatty Time

Hope you guys watch Takopi's Original Sin, it's only 6 episodes. Apothecary Diaries is also a great series if you want an entertaining female lead, would be interesting to see George talk about the series setting since it is set in a fictional setting of what would be Ming Dynasty.

Anime rec: Witch Hat Atelier

Ogami

The most likely reason this season was only 10 episodes is because the next chapter ( apart from this little teaser at the end here) starts the "Golden Land" arc which is so far the longest story arc in the manga. If they adapt at the same pacing as season 1 and 2 it should run for the full length of season 3 , around 12-13 episodes. So this season 2 was the "traveling around and having small adventures" part and season 3 will be the very serious long story part.

The Real Andrew Kim

The part when Frieren accepted the petting for a grimoire, I couldn't help but yell at Frieren "YOU WHORE!" 🤣

Ogami

Regarding Serie, i feel you missed the point of what Serie said to Genau at the funeral. She said that kind mages tend to die young and tells Genau to forever be his "kindless" self. That was not meant indifferent or cruel, its pretty much her saying "please dont also die on me ". Like usually with Serie she has problems with expressing her real feelings but its very obvious what she really means. Also since you brought up the timeframe, they are a LONG way from their goal still. Eisen said the original party took 10 years for the journey. Frieren and her current party have been on the road for 2 years by this point. The "northern lands" is also just the beginning of that region, after that comes the Empire and a bunch of other regions, their aim is the far end of the continent. If you look at a worldmap of the Frieren world they are about 30% or so on the way to their destination from where they started.

Ogami

Yeah +1 for Takopi. Great little series even if its depressing as hell.

PG Modehouse

"Kind mages don't live long. You're not a kind mage, stay that way forever." just means "Don't die, kid". If Serie wanted Genau to ACTUALLY not be kind though, she wouldn't have chosen Methode as his partner instead of Ubel. Because she wants Methode's levity and strange, frivolous love for cute things to keep him grounded and not go off the deep end.

Ogami

Yeah with Serie you always need to look at what she DOES and think about it, not what she SAYS as a front.

Eversharpe

That wolf thing reminded me of Fenrir from Campfire Cooking. A crossover ep would be hilarious, Maybe I'm the one misinterpreting but didn't the Mental Mage say that Denken;s wife's grave was just and empty hole. Implying that she's not in there anymore? Which he already knew and with his fatalistic outlook, it has me wondering if that 7th Sage is his Mrs.

Tom Hess

Simone: Ep 8 "Did Stark just do magicky things?" I don't think so. His lightning strike/cleaving light attacks are purely physical, AFAIK. I don't think they involve any form of mana. The explanation I've read is that he moves his axe so fast that it superheats the air in front of it. Just like the NASA space shuttle when it re-enters the atmosphere.

Jose Robles

I will vote for manga read along but after s3 that come next year

Konrad

Methode prioritized healing Stark first as per Genaus wish. What I feel many miss is that Genau, despite his condition, still managed to patch up Stark before the others got there, upping his chances for survival (plot armor aside). The coat we see wrapped around the unconscious Stark in that scene is Genaus.

Degenerick

part 2 of s2 comes out later this year

Tom Hess

Regarding the manga: I would advise against reading all of it right now. The animated series is, for the most part, a frame-perfect adaptation of the manga. It is the manga brought to life. So if you read the whole thing, you would have no surprises left in the show. If you want to read it, IMO you should stop where season 2 stops. That would be chapter 80 (at least in my French edition).

To unlock Season 3, first you must gather 24 Stones of Barenziah...

Chris Henderson

What are the chances we can get a Invincible reaction from Cinebinge?

Ogami

Eh, no. There is no part two of season 2. They already announced that Season 3 "The Golden Land" will release in October 2027. The announcement came right after the final episode of season 2 aired.

2026-09-05 05:00 Please consider watching Azumanga Daioh for something fun, cute and weird like a fever dream. Also, for some lighthearted romance I highly recommend The fragrant flower blooms with dignity and My Dress-Up Darling.

Please watch The Forbidden Kingdom. It's the only movie in any language that stars both Jackie Chan & Jet Li

Ogami

Cant remember that at all being said. Also the timelines do not fit at all, Denken said his wife died as a young woman at 25 about 50 years ago. The 7 sages have been around for hundreds of years. Also we already seen how Macht the 7th sage looks like, Frieren had a flashback of him in episode 9 and he is on the promo material that announced season 3. Its definitely a guy.

Thall

Don't forget! Fern asked for a spell from Sieren to launder their clothes instantly!

Ogami

BTW if you want a bit more Frieren content, there are a bunch of small little comedy "shorts" that TOHO published for Frieren Season 1+2 on their Youtube channel. Its the characters in a more deformed style and shows stuff from between the episodes, like Fern getting her spell from Serie. The clips are usually between 90 seconds to two minutes long and there are about two dozens of them for Season 1+2 combined.

navygrog

I know Simone has a reasonable suspicion of Serie; however, her lack of involvement in defeating the Demon King is addressed in Season 1. Flamme explains that magic is about visualization and Serie could never imagine an age of peace. All she knows is war. Therefore, it was impossible for Serie to defeat the Demon King. Only Frieren could do it. So in Serie’s infinite sense of time, it was only a short wait for Frieren to do it instead of her. I think this is part of why she’s so cold and indifferent towards her. She resents that Flamme was right and that Frieren could stop the Demon King and she couldn’t.

navygrog

I second Azumanga Daioh! So wholesome, silly, and memeable.

Tom Hess

Oh yeah, some of them are pretty funny. @Simone and George: That's "Sousou no Frieren - Marumaru no mahou". 12 episodes for season 1. 11 episodes for season 2. The Piyoko team has made english-subbed versions of them. You can find them on your favourite anime torrent sites I'm sure. That would be a fun "micro-series" to react to. It will take you between 45 minutes and an hour to watch all 23 mini episodes. The characters are voiced by the official voice actors too. Which is a nice bonus.

I saw it once, the comment section agreeing. Every trades video, from chainsaw work with trees, to welding and plumbing, is full of the most disgruntled men, saying things like "if you did that on my job site, I'd fire your ass immediately," or "This idiot doesn't even now how to hold a wrench, let alone use one." Then one day I saw a really good plumbing short, and I thought it looked great, but I said "let's see what the angry people in the comments think," and it was all nice. I couldn't believe it. It was like "Damn dude, I'm a plumber, and I'd hire you immediately," and "That was the tightest plumbing work I've ever seen." I felt like I'd died.

piqs

the scene is weird about that, why Genau does end up away from Stark when Methode find him? That's why many missed the fact that Genau patched up Stark

Konrad

Could it have been better executed? Perhaps. But I wouldn't say it was weird, he still was just a couple of steps away and we didn't get to see everything that happened afterwards. The fact that the scene lingers a little longer then necessary on Stark wrapped in Genaus coat makes the interpretation pretty clear to me. Still, this is an anime only thing, as this wasn't shown in the manga.

Wilfried Burow

Bring the Unusual Gem to an appraiser! It really was just Bethesda saying "Okay, what will annoy players the most?"

ⓝⓞⓡⓜ

Todd Howard saw joy and took it personally.

Milosz Skowronski

She simply has her priorities right. What's a few pats and hugs for a grimoire? I think that's a good exchange rate.

Sean Conway

For some reason, I don't know whether it's the writing, characters, or comedy, but I do get Fullmetal Alchemist/Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood energy from this anime. If you guys haven't seen either and no one else has mentioned it, then I would recommend both. Brotherhood is one of my favorite animes.
