When Cowboy Bebop originally aired in Japan on broadcast TV it was censored. It actually only aired its first 12 episodes on broadcast airwaves and then the rest of the series was picked up by a cable network. But it was also heavily censored just for having gay representation and trans characters. Total bullshit.

Faye's backstory is my favorite B-plot after the "main" plot of Spike and the syndicate. I can't wait for the episodes where we get more into it.

A anime with a character presenting as one gender and being another immediately brings to mind “Genesis Climber MOSPEADA” and its US “Robotech” incarnation. I saw first as a kid in the 1980s on broadcast syndicated TV and looking back I’m amazed that was put on what was ostensibly a kid’s cartoon broadcast in the afternoons (where I was).

I think it only strengthens the notion that they don't have a sibling dynamic because Faye isn't trying to use her charm against Spike. She actually likes him, the other people she's just decieving them and couldn't care less. When everyone else is treated the same except one person, ya gotta ask questions. Even Power in Chainsaw Man tried to seduce Denji and they are very much in a sibling dynamic at this point

Simone, if you have not already looked it up for yourself, the writing you noted that is seen on the side of the gun in the flashbacks of "Jupiter Jazz Part 2" reads: COLT 5 MK /D/ Series 90 GOVERNMENT MODEL 45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER So it's not a note or some other personal markings. "Colt" is the gun's manufacturer. While it is currently and possibly still unclear who is holding this weapon, Spike, Faye and Jet each have a different type of handgun they routinely but not always use. In the case of Spike, he most often is seen with a IMI Jericho 941 R chambered in 9x19mm. Faye carries a .45 ACP Glock 30. Jet generally uses a 9 mm Walther P99. Nearly all of the handguns, rifles, shotguns and even ship and land-based guns, such as the M197 mounted to the deck of the mob casino ship in "Honky Tonk Women" and the ZU-23-2 23mm anti-aircraft cannon seen briefly in "Jupiter Jazz Part 2" are real weapons. In fact, the serial number of Spike's Jericho is consistent in each episode it is seen.

I wish they would watch it after episode 22. I would prefer seeing their reaction to it in the timeline. Every reactor does the movie afterwards. I'd like to see them do something different. I honestly felt cheated following release order.

Also, it’s interesting how the various personal ships have a standard or modular design of cockpit pod. Spike flies the Swordfish II. Faye flies the Red Tail (which does have a red tail). Jet flies the Hammer Head.

Your discussion of aging in relativistic paradoxes (experienced time vs observed time) was great. While listening I thought about how creepy the doc behaved when she thawed out and came up with what I think is a fool-proof method of determining which frame of reference is more valid. !!!TRIGGER WARNING!!! Say we froze an old, moldy orange from Florida until there was a cure for narcissistic idiocy. It would still be old and moldy no matter when it got thawed. Now let's say we froze a adult man from Ohio until there was a cure for futon-philia. The largest change in status upon thawing out is they might be considered old. However, the greatest argument is seen when you consider freezing a child rescued from Captain Hook's seaside resort until he and his entire crew can be brought to justice with no possibility of ever harming them again. No change in status should ever be considered regardless of perspective in a moral and mannered society. I call this the Epstein Ambiguity. Therefore subjectively experienced time wins out over objectively observed time. Sorry for the politics, but I had to make a joke to soften the vulgar nature of argument.
