Hell yeah! This is my favorite Creed movie. So glad you guys are on this journey 🙌

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

I remember being incredibly skeptical when this movie was announced, even more when they said Coogler wasn’t going to direct, and even more when they said it would feature the Drago’s. Thankfully my skepticism wasn’t warranted as everyone still brought their A game for this movie. It lacks Cooglers directorial flair but is still a very character focused and compelling drama, a very worthy follow up. Creed 3 also continues this and I hope you guys get to it soon!

Chris Henderson

The playback on the no copy needed is out of sync with y'alls reaction.

supwizy

Hey george, about the "talking over dialogue" I would like to say that If I wanted you to not talk I would just watch the movie myself. keep doing what you are doing, I think most of us are here for the theorycrafting/discussion between you two.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Excellent sequel to the original, especially how it explores the characters and their vulnerabilities in a tender and meaningful way. Keen for Creed 3 too! For the opening convo: as an editor I will say that George's rhythm for pacing and arranging the structure of the YT edits is great! I personally love the commentary over dialogue because it's fun to hear what others think for a movie I’ve already experienced, at least in my case. Also an Aussie I will say that anyone imitating our accent to us in my neck of the woods gets a huge laugh if that's any consolation hahah

Cc Decc

I dunno...this one has a bit of that JJ Abrams/Bad Robot feel where you just blatantly copy an original film looking to score nostalgia beats.

SkepticApostle

The without your own copy version is a couple of seconds out of sync.

Cinebinge

ah shit mustve bumped it accidentally before exporting. fixing it now. will take maybe half an hour.

Cinebinge

yep fixing it now, sorry about that.

Forkbeard83

Was just coming to say the same thing.

Rev

I can't believe they talked through the entire intro! Come on, guys! You're missing important dialogue between George and Simone!

Cinebinge

yep fixing it now, sorry about that.

Brandon

The 'need your own copy' version also seems to have the same sync issue.

Cinebinge

yep fixing it now, sorry about that.

I have sometimes been annoyed when I reactor happens to talk over one of my favorite lines in a movie, or something. So I understand that a little. But it does seem like some people are oblivious to the point of a reaction, or the fact that copyright issues force a lot of cuts in the videos. And also, if you would like to see the whole movie/show, go and watch it on its own!

Tim Campbell

It's like the cyberpunk release date. Don't play it until the bugs are fixed.

Lone Desert Bones

Lololol regarding the premise of all of the progeny of Rocky’s opponents showing up: Mr. T Jr. enters the ring with hair in all the places his father didn’t.

Kyle B

Still holding out for Tracy Morgan as Clubber Lang's son.

Jeff K.

RE: Brigitte Nielsen, she later gained some fame (infamy?) for going on the reality show The Surreal Life with Flavor Flav, who she then dated for a bit. What a bizarre pairing that one was.

Joe Concepts

They did an amazing job making a very dramatic story out of what may be kind of the silliest of Rocky plots, with him fighting the evil Soviet supervillain. It's kind of like "Just pretend Rocky IV was a 100% serious, dramatic film." Great example of the idea that you could potentially make a a good story out of any premise.

Chris B

I love the theme of this movie, Fathers & Sons.

Hamesque

Can't believe they talked through the whole introduction before the movie started.

funky weapon

oh my god that thumbnail is cursed.

Chris Henderson

The actor playing Drago's son is the guy Shang Chi with long sword as a hand. Also can't wait for Creed III.

Christian Da Silva

Perhaps they can do a first watch reacting to the movie while talking and then a second watch completely silent just with facial expressions for those who don't want the dialogue. They can monetize an extra patreon subscription for those who'd like that.

Rev

I always imagined Mr T was the 20th generation of Mr (letter), so his father was Mr S and his son would be Mr U.

Jeff K.

Holy crap, that’s why he looked so familiar (this is the first time I’ve gotten around to Creed II).

Joe Concepts

Russia and Ukraine would be much happier places if they didn't have all that dark blue lighting.

Rev

What about Tracy Morgan playing Tracy Jordan playing the son of Clubber Lang? He could be named Tracy Lang.

Chris B

Creed 1 & 2 are so high bars it's hard to compete. Probably nobody will say Creed III is their favourite, but that doesn't mean they dropped the ball or anything like that. It's still a good movie and you do need to watch it.

Ian Tellam

I feel this film retroactively makes Rocky IV feel like a better movie. I like what they did with Drago and son.

Lone Desert Bones

With enough iterations, they have to dip into Wingdings

Sir_Robert

You should check out the Rocky IV Directors Cut

Hey Simone, my dad is a boxing promoter. Don't worry, I'm laughing at you saying they "suck so bad", because my dad worked a couple of years for Don King, and Don was terrible. But there are many small time promoters that barely make their money back, if at all, that are really good guys. Remember in Rocky 5 when Tommy Gunn left Rocky for the loud mouth promoter(who was based on Don King)? In real life, Rocky could have been the promoter as well as the trainer, like my dad. Next to the house, he built a gym with 3 bedrooms for the fighters. A lot of these fighters could never succeed in the environments they live in. Some are trying to avoid a life of crime. So my dad gives them a safe place without distractions, feeds them, trains them, even makes the shorts they wear to fight. And when he puts on a fight the whole family gets involved, aunts, uncles, cousins, everyone. Setting up the ring, running the concession stands, security, tearing it all down, and cleaning up. It's a nice payday for the family members that really need it. The younger kids always get over paid, so they love it. And it's a great way for the rest of us to see each other and pay my dad back for all he does. One time my sons were working the fight and ESPN was televising it. The next day they were celebrities at school. They didn't realize they were on camera in the background, and they were moving kegs of beer back and forth so their high school friends were loving it. lol One of the first fights for Laila Ali (Muhammad Ali's daughter) was our main event and her opponent backed out at the last minute so my dad convinced a family member to step in and fight her. It was not pretty. lol I just thought you might like to know there is a much nicer side to the business that isn't in the movies.

Chris Henderson

This movie is combination of 2-4 Creed I paid homage to the first Rocky film. This one was the three sequels. Dragos' is Clubber Lang with heart and aheartbreaking backstory. Creed is Rocky 3 with losing to a hungrier fighter. So many references and callbacks.

streaky

I don't think either Ivan or Viktor Drago are the bad guy in either Rocky 4 or Creed 2, the bad guy is their mother and maybe arguably their country - they are more victims than villains, in this it's more that Ivan is paying it forward. There was a plan for a Drago spin-off at one point, was going to be contemporary though - it got shelved when Amazon bought MGM. Creed goes up in weight class between 1 and 2, the reality is in real boxing in the modern era you can't hope to compete in the heavyweight division if you are not at least 6'3". Also yes, they are making a Creed 4. And you joke, but in 20 years I could totally see one of the young kids "now" in the movie sense being the fighter, like Creed's daughter or Rocky's grandson or something - they're going to need the right story, but I could see it. There is also the Delphi tv show coming up.

Den Radar Ryan

Rocky IV and Creed II work great as a double feature. There's some really good deleted scenes from Creed II on the DVD/Blu-ray and possibly on YouTube. Rocky and Drago actually fight each other again in the hospital lobby after the first Adonis vs Viktor fight and there's also a great scene in the locker room after the final fight where Adonis and Viktor have a heart to heart and also Rocky and Drago make peace with each other. Sad they got cut from the flick as they were great scenes. ✌️

Dustin Duvall

Man, y'all should watch Fruitvale Station

Boba Fettuccine

Baby... baby... pirate? I got that reference, George. Too bad Bianca only had one baby instead of eight.

Donna Castellano

I don't think they'd have the time. They do a packed schedule every single week.

Donna Castellano

That's why it's my favorite of the Creed films. Anything with a strong focus on the father/son dynamic, I'm all in.

Donna Castellano

Definitely. I liked it made 4 a little more serious. Also gave a bit more to Drago's character.

Sir_Robert

I agree, feels more like the rest of the series

JoeMama47

George and Simone need to watch Warrior. It's kinda like the MMA version of Rocky.

Chase Schleich

I know you guys like going into these movies completely blind, but before you watch Creed 3, you may want to do a little research into Stallone, the Rocky IP, and Creed 3. Just so you have an idea of what happened behind the scenes leading into that movie and so you're not confused when you watch Creed 3. I don't want to say more because I want to give you the choice whether to go in completely blind or not. Creed 3 is great, just like the others, but there's some.... changes....

Happy Hanukkah

I definitely like what they did with Drago and son; it's the Adonis "arc" I found underwhelming at best.

Happy Hanukkah

11:04 Because of you, I lose everything. Country, respect, *wife*. Ba-dum-tss. (57:53) 44:48 Oh, so that's what Churchill meant! :-) 47:10 In real life, you're lucky if your boxer will absorb your own instructions. 49:33 Say, did someone mention stray dogs? (11:11) 58:17 "The search for Viktor Drago lasted several months and took place around the world. The production met with comedians and athletes from various disciplines" I too am dubious about the "comedians" part. Very dubious. Perhaps this was written by a francophone or poorly translated from the French, as "comédien" means "actor." 58:46 "A *106* kilograms?!?!" Whatsamatter? That's nearly my weight, and I'm barely 5'2". :-P (By the way, this weight is normal for heavyweight boxing champions in this century.)

bdennis2004

Completely agree. It's inevitable that they'll end up talking over some dialogue. And, maybe it's just luck, but they seem to talk over meaningful stuff far less than most other factors. I enjoy their commentary and hate that they catch any hate for it.

bdennis2004

This might be the best content I've read this year! 😂

Happy Hanukkah

I'm not a fan of watching it instead of the original (cf Donner Cut), but it does make for interesting further viewing.

AlimonyMoney

There is actually a second ending to this movie. Where Rocky and Creed forgive Vickotr for Applo's death. But producers that is was a little too cheesy.

Doug's Night Terrors

Just started watching this....Do not feel bad about making fun of the premise. It was hilarious. Was grinning ear to ear through the credits waiting for Dolph Lundgren to come on the screen. So much fun.

GareBear

I echo the suggestion to watch Rocky IV: Rocky vs Drago (Rocky iv directors cut). It came out a few years ago and takes a more series tone to Rocky iv. Completely recut and edited by Stallone and ties in a lot more Apollo creed footage. It could be a nice refresh before you go onto creed 3.

TechJJ

Regarding the "talking over dialog", I think Rocky series fall in a category where dialogs are highly meaningful. Therefore, it will trigger more negative feelings from the audience if missing those. For Rocky, besides dialog, the boxing actions are also very, very expressive, or meaningful during build-up. So talking over might miss some. I think most other films you guys are great as things you talk over are not necessarily that important or "hold dear" to your audience. Rocky is special! I think one of the best reactors has to be PiB. She doesn't (or try not to talk over dialog) but has great deal of reactions from carefully listening to dialogs and actions. She can feel the story and we can feel her emotions.

Max

George I think the "talking over dialogue" issue is nonsense. You guys are very attentive and follow the story accordingly. I find short discussions during the movie interesting and way better than pausing the movie at some point.

REDR58

This movie was directed by Steven Caple Jr and it is only his second film! I’d say he knocked it out of the park. Some of the same HBO boxing commentators return from Creed. Lundgren gives a rather nice performance, particularly in the dinner scene before and after his son storms out and then at the end. I really liked his work in this movie quite a bit. This is a very quiet movie, outside of the boxing, particularly with Stallone’s performance. Very understated and enjoyable.
