Quasimodo predicted this

newhastings

for reference sopranos season 6 is essentially two seasons in one, but HBO classified season 7 as season 6 part 2 so they wouldnt have to re-negotiate the casts' contracts. If you really want a stopping point to take a break and do another show, ep 12 would be best as that was the mid season finale.

Haye Zeus

I can’t wait for George to make his 45 min video explaining his hatred for Janice

Hans Gruber

Would love to see you react to Fargo the TV series

newhastings

the "Don doesn't wear shorts" line from Carmine came from a real phone call James Gandolfini received in the middle of the night, likely from a real mobster. It scared the shit out of him.

BigGuy209

Matt O'Keefe

I hope A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms is one of the show choices.

Deadly Ramon

04:14 That song is a collaboration between Afrika Bambaataa and Johnny Rotten called World Destruction. Originally released in 1984, I was quite pleasantly surprised when it appeared in this season 4 opening episode of Sopranos 18 years later.

megamoo chilli

Tony told Dr Melfi that he has done something that will bond his nephew to him but he can't get into it. I took that to mean that he made up the story. He wants a loyal heir he can trust because he's always at odds with junior.

Polecat21

nominating Orphan Black for next series

Deadly Ramon

44:42 I love how this show, specifically the Bobby character, makes George belly laugh. His laughter is contagious.

FWPJR.

Finally, it’s Sopranos Tuesday again. I’m ready to watch this reaction.

beefjerkywizard

I really think Fargo is right in their wheelhouse

beefjerkywizard

I'm almost done Widows Bay and I think it would be a fun show to react to

Shibby

The Quasimodo / Nostradamus exchange is my favourite part of the whole show and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it too lol.

Brandon

The song at the start of episode 1 is 'World Destruction' by 'Public Image Ltd.' With Jonny Rotten from Sex Pistols on vocals. Some punk he turned out to be (IYKYK). Rock Lobster is by The B-52s. The way Simone says "pasta" instead of "pahsta" oof-fa! 😅 The Paulie in prison storyline stemmed from Tony Sirico having a spinal injury that kept him from regular filming for a good chunk of the season. So his prison stuff was shot separately after his recovery and then worked into each episode. Tony having Christopher kill that retired cop was a move to secure his loyalty above anything else. Simone's comment about killing him on the day of his retirement and there still being paperwork to file got me good. 😂

MeetMountain

I couldn’t stand Meadow during this time in the series. For obvious reasons. The therapist is a lunatic too. The University of Barcelona primarily uses Catalan and Spanish for teaching and administration. I don’t think there is any indication that she even knows Spanish and she was already just barely passing. Also, if she needed a break from school as she claimed… it kinda throws off her whole stance when she says “I can go to school in Barcelona!”

Brandon

I think Sopranos might have been the first show to do that part 1 and part 2 nonsense, even though the parts aired a year apart from each other. With every single show that does this, it still feels like two separate seasons, but I digress.

Brandon

I concur. I think they would love it. Everyone is right to rave about seasons 1 and 2, but I love seasons 3-5 as well.

Bill

Yes please watch The Pitt.

Ben Formhals

I would love to see reacher or generation kill on the channel. They're both great series 😍

Ben Formhals

Sorry to repeat myself, but you should definitely consider watching Rome as a short series between sopranos seasons. I know George has already seen it, but I think it would still make a great reaction 👍

Ben Formhals

The music playing in the intro to the first episode is public image limited. John Lyden's (Johnny Rotten) band after leaving the sex pistols

Richard Copping

This is the first post-9/11 season, hence the talk about the economy, “Quasimodo”, and the Twin Towers removed from the opening titles.

Jonathan Eaton

I think 'World Destruction' is actually by 'Time Zone' featuring Johnny Rotten.

Brandon

Episode 2 notwithstanding, season 4 is when I started to tolerate Meadow a lot more.

Brandon

My bad, you're right. I'm not the biggest fan of Johnny Rotten so I got some wires crossed.

Cam

It was a longggg month. But I’m so glad this is back!!!!

Ari Ramirez

Since the first time I watched this show I can't help but to greet people at parties with the distinctive "OOOH!", so watch out, it'll stick to ya.

Silvio, being consilegere wisely spots that patsy’s growing discontent is a brewing issue. Tony’s desire to groom Christopher to be his successor is also causing issues amongst the ranks, as many of the captains have put in years of work before getting their positions. Patsy like Paulie, is considered the “old guard” where paying your dues is important. I view Sil granting patsy the ok to steal the tiles as accomplishing a few things: Patsy gets to earn from stealing the floor tiles while also disobeying Christophers order, highlighting the lack of Christopher’s power, further emphasizing he’s a temporary captain. Silvio takes the heat for it all, displaying his ability to be a counterbalance to any bad decision levied by Tony (bumping Christopher to captain) ultimately gaining support and trust from the crew. Knowing Tony well, he wisely correctly guessed his punishment would just be kicking up a portion of the profit, something he was going to do anyway. Silvio shows his effectiveness as consilegere by being impartial and sympathetic to the worries and concerns of the crew, while solving issues before Tony sees them. I’ve always taken Silvio asking “is it a hanging offense?” As a sly way of him telling Tony yea I did but it had to be done, do you need details or can we move on. Tony decided to move on and just simply asks for his cut.

Stan the Man

So 9/11 happened between season 3 and 4. And you’ll note from now on a much darker show & this is part of the reason. Carmela’s line about how “everything comes to an end” is a reference to the mood in the world post 9/11. Not sure how old you both are but it was a really strange time. It’s crazy watching how America as a country seemed to come to together and rally around New York. Then you look at today. Everyone is so divided. Americans look at each other as enemies more so than the sort of people who commit acts of terrorism. It’s insane to think the kind of influence a vile malignant narcissist like Donald Trump has had on the world. The man was a joke. He’d shill for anything. Dominos PIZZA. Weird to think he’d be the one to destroy the post WW2 world order. Sad. Anyways, that’s enough politics. I’m not sure if you guys do this but I might recommend doing a recap for the previous seasons if you take a break again. It’ll help you refresh who’s who, what happened, that sort of thing. This show has a lot of characters that make an appearance or two, go away from awhile, come back and often it’s like “wait. Who was that again?”. So recaps which you can find on YOUTUBE will really help orient you.

TJ

Tony didn't want them to hijack the floor tiles but he wanted a cut since they already did it

Andrew

I don't think Tony wanted the guys to steal stuff from the job site. BUT, if they did he was still going to get his cut.

TJ

Which is funny because that was the pilot episode and Tony wasn't even boss yet

newhastings

Didnt know it was for the pilot episode thats even funnier. I do think the pilot initially said Tony ran “North Jersey” but the rest of the show slightly retconned it to be “he technically runs North Jersey cause the real boss is dying of cancer”

Jonathan Eaton

It's 'Time Zone' featuring Johnny Rotten

p0sthum4n

Just when I thought I was out...

p0sthum4n

They're not really two separate seasons in the same narrative way that every other season is. Each season has its own self-contained arc and resolution of sorts, but 6B is pretty much a continuation of 6A.

p0sthum4n

Yeah, in the pilot Tony was heavily implied to the boss. "You may run North Jersey but you don't run your Uncle Junior!"

fmcmullan

Tony wasn't lying about the cop that killed Chris' father. He was basically giving the hit to Chris as a "gift". The cop's confusion was because he was so crooked for so long that Chris' dad's killing was just one of many that did not matter to him.

Bill B.

One of the testaments to the greatness of this show is how 30 seconds of Artie lining up his putt is fucking hilarious 😂😂😂

Mike FromOz

🎵 Woke up this morning, got myself a bun... One made with sultanas and... cinnamon 🎵

Mike FromOz

P.I.L. was a much better band than The Sex Pistols. So much more musically inventive. JR is still an annoying dick though. Also, Simone, you hate the B-52's???? For shaaaame!

Holy Squire

Tony wanted to create a very close bond between him and Chris. That's why he had him kill the retired cop. Tony told Melfi that it was Chris not AJ that would be like a mob son to him. Then he had Chris kill this guy to create an inseparable closeness between them.

Bill B.

George I think you’re spot on about the overprescribing of anti depressants during this time period. Regarding how Meadow behaves toward her parents, I don’t get it. I grew up in an Italian American home in north Jersey, if me or any of my sisters had treated our parents like that, the result would have been a smack in the face. Tony and Carmela are terrible parents and have been spoiling their kids rotten.

John Suire

Couple show possibilities: Fargo, as suggested, and Midnight Mass, which is only one season, but I think it’d be up your guys’ alley. Only thing is - it’s dialogue heavy, so it may not be the best “reaction” show.

michael denny

meadow's bratty teenager is an act or mask she wears to cope with obvious depression. Also, one doesn't need motivation to plan one needs motivation to follow through with those plans which she didn't do she again chose the easier of her options and went back to school.

Tall Paul

George mentioned the double length season six in two parts. It was done this way to avoid contract clauses for a season seven. David chase realised he had too much material for the planned season six but there was limited money.

p0sthum4n

Sometimes Simone says pahsta and sometimes she says pass-ta. What are the rules dictating Canadian pasta pronunciation?

michael denny

its time for what we do in the shadows, it's several seasons but the episodes are short so we could do 4ish a week similar to anime, also you guys have been reacting to very serious stuff so comedy would be a nice change of pace.

JFC

When the envelope was passed to Christopher at the construction site and someone mentioned it having "spores", that was a reference to the post 9/11 instances of a white powdery substance containing anthrax spores being mailed to various news outlets and to US senators: "The 2001 anthrax attacks, also known as Amerithrax (a portmanteau of 'America' and 'anthrax', from its FBI case name), occurred in the United States over the course of several weeks beginning on September 18, 2001, one week after the September 11 attacks. Letters containing anthrax spores were mailed to several news media offices and to senators Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy, killing five people and infecting seventeen others. Capitol police officers and staffers working for Senator Russ Feingold were exposed as well. According to the FBI, the ensuing investigation became 'one of the largest and most complex in the history of law enforcement'. They are the only lethal attacks to have used anthrax outside of warfare." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_anthrax_attacks As others have mentioned, this season was written and filmed after 9/11.

Brandon

I disagree....slightly with that, but saying more would be spoilery.

Thall

Peanutbutter and Marshmallow Fluff is a Fluffernutter. Only know that because of Expeditionary Force, lol

Thall

To be fair, I've been close to that fat. Standing is exhausting if you gotta do it for a while.

djKENTO

There is a new Faces of Death movie inspired by the classic VHS tape. It's a pretty solid little movie. Would make for a great reaction.

Deadly Ramon

~01:34:00 "Run with the bulls." That alludes to the San Fermin festival in Pamplona, Spain, where a small herd of bulls run through some barricaded streets from their corrals to the bullring, a distance of 875 meters. It is a rite of passage for young men to hop over the barricades and run alongside or in front of the bulls, and my father participated in that while he was drunk in the late 1960s.

p0sthum4n

The motive behind Tony having Chris kill him is clear, but it's relatively ambiguous as to whether or not this guy actually killed Christopher's dad or if it was just a convenient setup whereby he had Chris kill someone they needed gone while also bonding Christopher to him.

REDR58

I imagine it's a regional thing.

REDR58

Definitely.

REDR58

Episode 401 "For All Debts Public and Private" The title of course refers to that line which appears on US paper currency. The movie Tony is watching is "Rio Bravo" (1959) and in the scene Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson are singing. The "YZ-250" that Anthony Jr. talks about is a racing motorcycle built by Yamaha. The "Vincent Black Shadow" also mentioned in that scene is a British motorcycle built between 1948 and 1955. After the flight attendants from Icelandic air come into the hotel, when asked where they are from, one says "Reykjavik" and Tony says "Oh, and you do and you'll clean it up" as a joke because "Reykjavik" sounds like someone throwing up (yakking up, something like that). After the cop wakes up to see Christopher in his house, an episode of "Magnum P.I." titled "No More Mr. Nice Guy" is on the TV. Christopher finds a $20 bill in the dead cop's wallet that he later leaves on his mother's refrigerator, not $100. The $20 that is zoomed in at the end on features a portrait of President Andrew Jackson. The US $100 has a portrait of Benjamin Franklin.

mpd

"received an honorable mention at the Winnipeg Film Festival", or "I've recorded in Denmark!", which is the bigger flex?

Danny

Fiber-optic cable, high speed internet access

Adam Vialpando

That's actually common in many shows for their last seasons.

Collinson

I'd recommend Spaced for a short TV show. Only two seasons of six episodes and it's where the team behind The Cornetto trilogy Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Edgar Wright got their start.

dasgrove

some great suggestions listed, how about Spider-Noir?

dys

Show suggestions: The Good Place for some of the best of the Ted Lasso vibes of comedy and heart. Little bit on the longer side for the next "short" show, 4 13-episode seasons (though they stay more like Ted Lasso season 1 episode length). Consistently excellent with a perfect conclusion. Better Off Ted: 2 seasons and cancelled too soon, but it's much more pure comedy so there isn't an overarching plot that never got finished.

Bill Douglas

The Sopranos was the first to do it, and gave everybody else the idea.

Bill Douglas

Yeah, I’m not sure how they misinterpreted that. It’s very clear that Tony is angry about it and doesn’t want it ever happening again.

Bill Douglas

I agree. “Kaisha” feels exactly like a season finale to me, and when we reconvene with “Soprano Home Movies” a significant amount of time has gone by within the world of the show.

dys

Oh also Midnight Mass since they've already done Hill House (same creator and a lot of the same cast), just one 7-episode season but such a beautiful show.

Extraordinary Productions

Uncle Junior killed Christopher’s Father in the movie Many Saints of Newark. Which is a prequel to the sopranos about His Father.

dys

Seems like they loved the movie

dys

Midnight Mass is heavy on (fantastically written dialogue) but it has PLENTY of twists and turns to react to, much like Hill House.

funky weapon

the problem Simone and George are having is that they respect their parents. they probably feel safe, secure, and know that their parents love them and would never knowingly harm them (I'm making best guesses here) or put themselves above their children. and that's great. the flip side of that is losing respect for your parents. the older Meadow got, the more aware she became of how full of shit her mom and dad are. she knows her dad is a mafia boss. she knows her mother knows, and actively supports it and indulges in the lifestyle that blood money can provide. Meadow has never had an honest conversation with either parent because they refuse to tell her the truth. Meadow over time loses respect for her parents because she thinks the worst, and why wouldn't she? she's treated like an idiot. All she really wants is acknowledgement that she's going through something difficult. she lost her boyfriend (barely an ex when he was murdered), and because of who her family is, she can't be 100% sure that her dad had nothing to do with it. he lies about everything else, why wouldn't he lie about Jackie? Then you have Carmela who is Mother of the Year (1000% sarcasm). all she can think of is Meadow going back to school and being a good citizen who becomes an upstanding member of society, a doctor or something. no thought is given to what Meadow wants to do. no thought is given to how Jackie's death might be affecting her. she's supposed to suck it up and get on with it because "that's what grown ups do." only Carmela and Tony have been around so much murder and death that they no longer remember what it was like the first time someone close to them died. they're used to the carnage and the violence. so yeah, Meadow wants to take a year off of school. she's probably depressed. she wants to run away to Europe because she thinks a new environment will help her forget all the bullshit, Jackie's death included. but she can't outright say that because feelings are not shared in the Soprano house. anytime the kids share how they feel, they're kicked in the balls and told that they should be grateful because some kids in Ethiopia have it way harder or some shit. Tony and Carmela are fucking terrible parents. they're terrible people. when their kids are hurting, they just tell AJ or Meadow to suck it up. Carmela and Tony belittle their feelings and their worries. they marginalize them and call them pussies, not in those exact words, but basically that's the meaning. That's why I enjoyed Meadow's clapback at Carmela over education. Meadow is a shitload smarter than her mother. Probably as smart or smarter than Tony. she's naive and inexperienced, but Carmela's arms are too short to box with God in that conversation, and Carmela sort of realizes it when Meadow starts discussing "the canon." Anyway, I wrote a novel here so I won't bother getting into more detail. the TL;DR is that Meadow doesnt' respect her parents because she knows that they're lying, manipulative thieves and are probably responsible in some way for Jackie's death, which would probably be forgivable if they were just honest with her about who and what they are.

dys

there's some freaking great bands from Denmark though

dys

It's an extremely common kids' snack in the US.

Cam

Why the fucking spoiler??????

dys

delete this

dys

We saw Paulie running away during the FBI raid on Jackie Jr.'s funeral at the end of last season, so it's not that big a stretch to assume he ended up getting arrested as part of that.

dys

I'm not any kind of therapist or medical professional but I wouldn't think any psychiatrist should be suggesting antidepressants on a patient's first-ever visit, especially not to treat grief from a recent event that there hasn't been time to heal from. This psychiatrist clearly sucks. And I'm sure there was overprescribing around this time. But now we have the opposite problem with a drug-addled moronic US health secretary with no medical background leading a backlash against psychiatric treatment people actually do need.

dys

Not a short show (6 seasons), but Bojack Horseman is Will Arnett's best work IMO, and one of the greatest shows ever made.

Mubiki

Eh. Most movements and polarizing political figures are preceded by sentiment, not the other way around. It's always been this way. The US is not the only country to see populist right wing movements in the last 10-12 years. A devil's advocate might say there is a reason for that... But this isn't the place for that. lol Exited to rewatch this season with them.

Garett Wiles

So basically Chinese families are like the Mafia. You always gotta kick something up.

dys

I'd be here for The Pitt.

Ian Tellam

Adding my support for the Fargo calls - I'm kind of surprised they haven't done it already. Also, as they're looking for a short show between longer shows, the fact that it's an anthology series means they can just squeeze seasons in where they want. I don't think they need to do them all at once or anything.

mayhem74

I'd like to suggest a couple of mini-series for between shows: Generation Kill - mini-series based on the book of the same name; created by David Simon (The Wire), and even stars James Ransone (Ziggy Sobotka, RIP) We Own This City - also a David Simon project and stars even more of The Wire cast

Cromulentius

I have a silly pet theory that Melfi's intentionally fucking with Tony for her own entertainment whenever she recommends a therapist for his family members. She refers Carmela to a guy who point-blank tells her to divorce Tony, and now... this.

Bill Douglas

The part about “the canon” was actually a great takedown of Meadow by Carmela. Meadow is reading low-brow airport bestsellers (Mary Higgins Clark), not “western literature, the great books” that she pretentiously claims to be reading.

REDR58

The word "cornetto" fills me with unreasonable rage and loathing. Can't explain why. I hate it.

REDR58

Episode 402 "No-Show" Holy surprise (for me) Linda Lavin as Meadow's therapist Wendi Kobler! Lavin is probably most famous as starring in the 1976-1985 sitcom "Alice" which was based on the movie "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" (1974) directed by Martin Scorsese. Lavin also sung the opening song of the TV show: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezC1X-45uWA And as a bit of a deep cut, there is a reference to Lavin in the season 5, episode 2 "Cape Feare" of "The Simpsons" which immediately came to my mind: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlbTuwsIKug

Stan the Man

The writers and producers consider them as separate seasons. It was a purely contractual issue. Otherwise 6B would be called season 7. They were written and conceived of separately…kind of. There is a lot of narrative connective tissue but that’s just because how it went down. Originally 6 was going to be just 10 episodes. Then it expanded to 12. They broke the season in the writers room, began writing and shooting. They got to, I believe episode 4, maybe 5, and showrunner David Chase realized he had more story to tell. 8 more episodes were added which was later upped to 9. There was a period where we were going to get even more episodes but Chase changed his mind and kept it at 9. There’s a lot we don’t know. Like we know they had broken the entire season 6A story arc as if it were the final season. In the commentary for the episode Blue Comet the actors mention a series finale script was written for season 6A. But then 6A past episode 5/6 completely changed and we don’t know what was dropped or moved or reconfigured. All we know is the original 6A did not involve one particular storyline that ended up dominating a lot of the 6A season back half.

Stan the Man

George just a heads up, Tony did NOT want Silvio/Chris or anyone stealing stuff from the site. Tony taking his cut was a power move to remind Sil who is in charge. Tony always gets his cut. Silvio realizes Tony is making moves with Christopher, promoting him too quickly, giving him responsibility he’s not ready for or not warranted. This was Silvio way of rebelling a bit. Plus it was probably Tony who didn’t put the lid back on the crazy glue. That shit cannot stand.

Simon Pegged Me

I'll make my usual recommendations, Deadwood (2004) and Pushing Daisies (2007), and I'll strengthen the voices asking for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (2026). Please and thank you.

tony

Let's not forget Deadwood.

Brandon

Paulie tells the story to John and it had nothing to do with that, though.

Dominic Matich

The cop DID kill Chris's father. If you listen closely, his last words were, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," implying he actually did kill the dad. He was a detective trying to get out of a jam and was saying whatever he thought would work, but it's great writing because it makes you think Tony could possibly have been lying. Also, in episode 2, Tony DIDN'T want Silvio to rip off the floor tiles, but he KNEW Silvio would have the money because if he didn't, he could end up dead. Silvio is testing Tony because he's unhappy and is testing for weakness, and in the mob, ANY sign of weakness signals to the predators that it's time to pounce and usurp the king. Tony knows Silvio's doing that, but if you listen closely, you'll hear Silvio ask, "Is it a hangable offense?" Tony doesn't want to kill Silvio over a small thing like this, but he has to show that he would if it came down to it. Tony has to nip the mutany virus in the bud before it spreads because he can't have guys disobeying him just because they don't like a decision he made. By taking the money, Tony is just making the best of the situation.

lily7

I don’t understand why the Soprano kids get so much hate. Yeah, they’re spoiled, but how are they supposed to learn any real values from Tony and Carmela? They’re both awful people. How can you respect your gangster father and your hypocritical mother when they break every rule themselves just because they have money and power? Carmela literally tells Meadow in the first episode, “You can’t cheat, break the rules, and expect to get away with it,” while Tony does exactly that every day. Meadow isn’t naive—she sees the hypocrisy. Honestly, the Soprano kids turn out to be better people than their parents.

REDR58

I don't even think about Anthony Jr unless he's onscreen. So far he hasn't been a particularly compelling character and I don't think about him enough to even hate him.

Crow T. German Robot

First, I had to understand the word George was saying, filial piety. Now if anyone had the same problem, they can google it.

Raul Panzar

Please add Deadwood to the poll!

JBK405

I'm gonna echo what I've already seen some other people say in the comments: You two are surprised at the behavior of Meadow and AJ because you're thinking they were raised by good (or at least bottom-level) parents. Instead they've been raised by parents who have shown them that they will be shouted at and insulted and dismissed whether they've been good or bad, and who live every day of their lives as glaring hypocrites. So that's how both of the kids are living now: If they're going to "get it" anyway, then why would they bother "being good"? In episode two AJ walked into the room and asked Carmela if she was still using the internet, and both Carmela and Tony turned on him because they were in the middle of arguing about Meadow. AJ didn't swear at her or shout, but because they were angry anyway they took it out on him. They've been doing that his entire life. So why is he ever going to put in the effort be "good" if that won't protect him? Meadow knows that her father is a murderer and crime lord -- she KNOWS that -- and she knows her mother has been a willing accessory for decades. So every time they talk about college or succeeding in life or the importance of hard work, she knows it's just blanket hypocrisy. She might not know that Tony pushed Ralphie to give the order to have Jackie killed, but she knows that he DIDN'T step forward and give the order NOT to kill him. So it's not "wow these kids are spoiled and lazy, I can't believe they talk to their parents like this". It's "these kids are lashing out and becoming spoiled and angry BECAUSE of their parents". That doesn't mean they're not annoying, but it very clearly shows WHY they're annoying. ---------------- For the overly-in-depth background of their terminology and references: The Papermill Playhouse, where Meadow was supposed to intern over the summer, is a theater in Millburn, NJ. It's classified as a regional theater, but because of its close proximity to New York City it is often viewed as a "feeder" for Broadway. Shows that are expected to be "big" on Broadway but aren't quite ready will often run at the Papermill for a season to work out the kinks and gauge the audience response. The other option is to go the "Off-Broadway" route, where they start in small theaters in NYC before being 'promoted' to Broadway. A "no show" job is a job where the person is on the payroll, but doesn't have to even show up to work. Tony has had a no show job for the whole series. In season two, when Tony's lawyer told him to show up to work to give the impression that he has a real job, his assigned office was filled with storage boxes because of how long it had been since he ever went into the office. A company can only have so many no show jobs, because they have to be able to justify it when their books are audited. If the person is on parole and their parole officer shows up at the job, they need to be able to give an excuse as to why they're not there. Any company only has so many field salesman and delivery drivers that aren't at the main location, so that's a hard limit on no show jobs. The highest ranking people get no show jobs. A "no work" job is a job where the person has to physically show up at the location, but doesn't have to do any actual work. Those are the people that we see sitting around on lawn chairs when we visit the construction sites. If anybody shows up and questions why they're not doing anything, they can just say that they're on a break or that they're the backup crew or the "on call in case of emergency" crew. A company can have a lot more no work jobs than no show jobs, so most mid-level people get these. Several other people already mentioned it in other comments, but Silvio is currently the "consigliere" of the family. The consigliere is specified as an advisor to the Boss, and (depending on how you judge things) is either the #2 or #3 person in authority. Patsy was a Made guy long before Christopher, and has already been shown to be in authority over him. He was one of the guys hazing Christopher after he was first Made. Silvio knows that to promote Chris over Patsy, without Chris having DONE anything to show he deserves it, is just bad management and Silvio can see it a mile away. As consigliere Silvio tried to make it go over smoothly at first, but when Tony wasn't receptive when he tried to explain the problems that were happening he bucked authority because he was angry and trying to make a point.

I don't know if I heard a clear definition of a "Short Show", but "The Good Place" {2016} is 4 seasons and has some, what I feel, natural ending points that if you feel satisfied, there's no need to watch more.

Station Eleven and Generation Kill are two fantastic HBO miniseries that would make a great between season watch

I recognise a lot of behaviours in Meadow that were there during my father’s and my own depression. The lack of energy to do anything with small bouts of manic energy sprinkled in-between where you try and do everything possible

Angzarr

He does have very Fred Schneider-ish delivery in this song. But Simone hates the B-52s!? What?!

House Of The Dragon Season 3 for short series between Sopranos

I found it quite obvious the doctor was the spy at the office. These episodes are getting to the point quicker and with snappy edit, I like it. The post 9/11 depression can definitly be felt, a dark and confusing time even for the Sopranos. I love how much of free thinker Meadow is. Of couse she has oppertunities and luxuries she should be grateful for, but they are plaster over the lifelong lies. She finally sees what her parents influence is, and she wants to be and talk with people who are true. He depression is light, or quietly played, but I do believe she still is left in the dark about Jackie.

TJ

Yeah that was confusing. They call Tony the boss but they still have to answer to Jackie to settle disputes and if Tony was already considered the next Boss why do they have Tony and Junior fighting over the position lol

newhastings

idk but i do think retconning it to have him not be the boss immediately was the right decision overall.

I've been waiting for this season, and that scene at the police station! Everything changed fast. George, I agreed with Simone and felt like the therapist was kind of terrible. She seemed to be sort of avidly feeding off Meadow's "celebrity" and wanting to weirdly profit off her, not seek to help her. She was so keen on Meadow being abused, you could absolutely see she wanted that answer to be "yes!" And to me all she was doing was building codependency with Meadow -- "I agree with you, I think you need more coddling, I think you need meds, I think you should go to Europe, and oh by the way, go to this Barcelona school I help to oversee!" Ugh. It's also a good time to note that both therapists that Melfi recommended were, to me, absolutely terrible. The first one gave Carmela an ultimatum that only drove her further away -- real therapy over time could have actually helped her to leave Tony and the life she supports, but that therapist's method was ridiculous. Then we get this doctor with Meadow, and she's awful -- fake and full of herself. (I adore Melfi, but sheesh, Doc, do better!) George, as far as Meadow, I'm not seeing real depression here. Yes, I think a part of her is having to come to grips with her father's life of crime in a different way, but honestly while I'm sure she has had to deal with real grief over Jackie Jr., the fact is that she's just milking it within an inch of her life any way she can. I don't see Meadow actually suffering here -- I see a spoiled brat ramping up her behavior to new heights. I've always disliked Meadow but her open contempt for her mother here was so gross to me. Meadow can't have it both ways. She can't have contempt for her mother and father while also using the luxuries they give her and then holding her hand out for more. I wanted so badly for Carm and Tony to kick her out of the house to try this independence she's so insistent on getting. Meadow is an adult who was openly unwilling to work or go to school, and we know she has her own funds, so I honestly do think some tough love, even for a limited time period, might have gotten through to her. But who knows. Tony's comment to Melfi that his life means ALWAYS working only with (or primarily with) family for loyalty reasons has one of several major flaws -- it means you're also trapped in working with some stupid, brutal people with little education or self-control.

Oh, and others noted -- while I hated the therapist, I love the actress who played her -- Linda Lavin, who was the star of a famous sitcom ("Alice") about a waitress back in the 70s.
