Stephen Morris

I’m guessing Evolution is next week? lol. You guys are Cray Cray.

Eric Mc Daniel

That's what I was thinking, I was like "did they release two movies simultaneously?" Had to check Cinebingers 😅

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

To echo Dante… of Clerks… It wasn’t supposed to be here today indeed

Dryfesands

Would you say this reaction has a plethora of comments?

Mike FromOz

Dammit, I was coming here to write something similar 😂

Josh Minke

I got a notification about Evolution. Where did it go haha. I got hella excited, awesome movie

Mike FromOz

They didn't even have time to use lube!

Terry

All of us come running for Evolution!! lol such a great underrated movie. But Three Amigos goes pretty hard too.

Christian Da Silva

I think we all came here for Evolution and were all dissapointed to get this one instead.

Michael Robayo

John Landis did not direct any Star Trek, haha. He directed The Blues Brothers, Trading Places, Animal House, and An American Werewolf in London.

Poineapples

Clicked on the evolution notification to then see it immediately removed for copyright? I still got the link for the reaction which is cool tho

Jaaahn

clearly they messed up and put the wrong release date for Evolution, guessing that was meant for next week since Three Amigos was announced for today last week.

Jaaahn

guessing they messed up on the release date thats meant for next week.

megamoo chilli

Simone I was also irked by the belt buckles. If you look closely, one is more oval and one is more or a rectangle with rounded corners. Knowing this helps me sleep at night. If you guys want a show with Chevy Chase acting like his reputation try Community. Short episodes with fast paced one liners. Very funny.

marioaintsuper

"cacaw! cacaw! Tookie! Tookie!!" Wait wait guess thats next week...haha

Jeromy M

Can't wait for that one

FranciscoGios

Did we missed to drink coffee this morning George? I was triggered happy for a second

marioaintsuper

Haha same i clicked that notification so quick

ArcadeAndy

You should watch Little Shop of Horrors.

Mike FromOz

Hot Take: I prefer this to "The Magnificent Seven", because I feel that film isn't as good as a remake of "The Seven Samurai". I prefer the satire and humour in this.

Richard Pearce

Steve Martin with darker hair Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982) immediately came to mind

Crap Bag - first name Crap last name Bag

I’ve been pretty stressed this last month, but You guys have been spoiling me lately with the movie reactions and I really appreciate the hell out of you both!

Jean-Dominic Lapointe

No one should be disappointed to watch Three Amigos But… I can’t wait for Evolution

Richard Pearce

Steve Martin also has dark hair (though dyed) in My Blue Heaven (1990) with Rick Moranis Joan Cusack and Carol Kane based on the same book as Goodfellas I believe

Jeff K.

It’s kinda wild that this was the first time that Steve Martin and Martin Short ever met, given now they’re pretty much inextricably linked (they tour together, do Only Murders in the Building together, etc).

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

Where did the movie 'Evolution' go? I was just about to watch that. Was it posted by mistake?

Jeff K.

“He’s got a great cartoonish studio villain voice.” Well, maybe not studio villain, but certainly Springfield mob boss (he’s the voice of Fat Tony, George; though I’m only watching the YT edit so that may have come up in the full length).

Jamie

Fat Tony, Troy McClure and The Critic/Artie Ziff at the start there! Also coincidental you quoted the Simpsons not long after!

Guy Gordon

For a goofy and silly Steven Spielberg comedy, you must see 1941 from 1979. It's insanely over the top goofiness and is one of the wildest, over-the-top comedies you'll see. It's underappreciated and intentionally insane.

funky weapon

Something I never noticed before: the reason the Amigos are mistaken for the German's friends is because the German is such a fanboy of the Amigos and Ned in particular that he carries their gun, down to the make and model. I'm sure everyone else got that right away but I'm not terribly observant alright it's a cool little detail. The Male Plane joke has lived in my head rent free for decades. John Landis never directed anything Star Trek related. he did however direct such films as the Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London, Animal House, and Coming to America. Also, the Amigos are actually quite capable. despite being goofy himbos they are actually quite skilled at all the horse riding, gunplay, and lasso tricks due to having to learn it all for their films. back in that era movie shoots were short and quick and films were churned out at a rapid clip. it makes sense that they'd ultimately bumble their way into success. And you guys should consider Only Murders in the Building. it's a fun mystery/comedy that stars an elderly Martin Short and Steve Martin starting a true crime podcast where they solve the crimes themselves.

Jeff K.

Suggestions after this movie... Steve Martin: LA Story, Roxanne, Parenthood The guy who plays El Guapo: Romancing the Stone (a romantic comedy/action/adventure with Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny DeVito that's by far the best Indiana Jones-esque movie that wasn't actually an Indy movie from the '80s).

megamoo chilli

Movie recommendation of Steve Martin being brilliant. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Also with Michael Caine.

Jeromy M

C'mon, don't be a tease, drop Evolution plz

Monica Alarcon

¡Hey George and Simone! ¿How are you? The "upside down" exclamation and question marks at the beginning of each sentence are used to indicate where the question or.... Exclamation sentence begins. That way you know how to read it...

REDR58

I’m gonna shock but I’ve never even heard of Evolution (2001) before today!

Monica Alarcon

It's funny how a lot of people think Mexico still looks exactly like that in 2026...

Dan

Well that's disappointing - I get that it was likely released by accident but it's annoying to start watching a reaction (to Evolution) and then for it to disappear again.

Jaaahn

lol 'annoying', an accidental thing you didnt know was going to be a thing a few hours ago.

Dan

You don't find it annoying to be cut off when doing something?

Jaaahn

not when its a thing i wasnt meant to have yet. i dont have that sense of entitlement like im suddenly owed a thing i didnt know i was going to get nor was i meant to get. but thats just me, an adult who doenst behave like im entitled to instant gratification.

Dan

Ok. Personally I just like to watch a reaction all on the same day rather than split over different days/weeks, and I didn't know it wasn't intentional since I don't follow the schedule that closely (I just see things as they turn up).

ktown64

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid is a movie where Steve Martin has dark hair. Although he dyed it, it is closer to the color he had in the late 60's and early 70's.

gfixler

Why don't we ever see ghosts on the 15th floor? The most famous ghost movie, Ghostbusters, had Dana in apartment 2206, on the 22nd floor, and her apartment was haunted, especially her fridge. The boss battle was on top of the apartment building!

Lessiarty

"If ever there was a human that hatched from an egg, it's Randy Newman." -- Gavin Free

gfixler

I would tell the ghost "I'm sorry, you can't live here... I mean be dead here−OMG is that life-ist? I'm so sorry! I've leaving. I'm going... Again, so sorry about the "live" thing. You can have the house. I'm just... I'm just going to grab my phone charger."

gfixler

Re: Simone wanting to save the best for last, I get it. I will eat all the jellybeans I like least first, so by the end it's all the red ones, and I'm just fully partying straight through to the end. It can get worse, though. I have a friend who will take a nibble of each chicken nugget, and order them in the box, so she eats the more gamey, gross ones first, and the real tasty ones last. I hadn't noticed till she said something, or rather, hadn't noticed I'd noticed, because yes, there are nuggets that taste more like dark meat, which I like less, and some that are like full on breast meat, and more tasty. It wasn't enough for me to care, but it was for her, and she didn't like the worse-tasting ones to be the final taste left in her mouth. All of our friend group thought she was crazy 😆

JBK405

An important mile marker on the Seven Samurai-->The Magnificent Seven-->The Three Amigos-->A Bug's Life highway! if you watch all four movies in order, it is a TRIP to see the concept evolve!

gfixler

[Comes back seconds later] Sorry, I also have a soda in the fridge? I already drank half and you probably wouldn't wa—no, you know what? It's fine. That's fine. You can have the rest. You want the door open or closed? Probably closed, right? Okay. I'm leaving again. Goodbye.

Jose Robles

Mexican here, old mexican movies actually have the music moments like the one at 19:58. Music come from nowhere and began to sing, except that there is no animals coming to listen like on Disney. Other movies do that but I mention this because this movie is on Mexico.

jmundt33a

They’ve been friends and collaborators for quite awhile. They’re In-Famous for it. That’s even better than famous, right?

Monica Alarcon

Dark haired Steve Martin? I can only think of Little Shop of Horrors.... Which is a movie I've been hoping you watch for s long time now... But hey. Three amigos was on my wish list for a long time too and here we are!

Ari Ramirez

In spanish grammar, exclamation points and question marks have to be present not just at the end of the sentence, but also at the beginning, that's the function of the "upside down" (or open) exclamation point there. For example, while in english you may say "Hello friend!", in spanish that would be "¡Hola amigo!", with both open and closed exclamation points. This has been your daily duolingo lesson

JayF

I dunno if he directed any Trek episodes but John Landis directed The Blues Brothers, Coming to America, Animal House, probably even more stuff you've reacted to.

Kyle B

It has been a a hile since we've seen a Western o,n the channel i think, Once Upon a Time in The West is still untapped and one of the best and most influential in the genre. The sweltering heat filmed in the movie really comes across to the audience, so its great during the cold winter months.

Monica Alarcon

That is from Spain. Nobody says "Ole" in Mexico

Monica Alarcon

Chris Farley was a complete unknown when this was released...

Ghostdm

Also in the scene was Phil Hartman (Troy McClure) and John Lovitz (several Simpson's characters)

Gizmo_Mogwai_

not on the bingo card for today, but here we go!

Joe Concepts

Nice! One overlooked bit is Jon Lovitz and Phil Hartman. They seem to love doing the "talk like an old-timey Hollywood guy" bit, so perfect they showed up as the movie guys. I think there's even an SNL skit with the two of them in a similar scene, where one of them is a washed up actor.

Tiberius

Little Shop of Horrors has a dark haired Steve Martin in it. Would've been a great film to watch for Halloween.

Captain Kermit

They need to do the Young Gun movies.

John

It’s a really fun sci-fi comedy that is executed better than the premise would suggest some of Orlando Jones best work

Captain Kermit

He didn't, but he did direct Twilight Zone: The Movie when a helicopter crashed killing two actors.

Captain Kermit

Widely considered one of the worst movies ever made.

Simone's Coconut Squire

He didn’t debut on SNL until like 4 years after this movie was released.

Simone's Coconut Squire

Interesting historical note about this movie. Germans in Mexico may seem random, but this takes place in the middle of WWI, and one of the events that actually motivated the US to get involved in that war was a plot by Germany trying to get Mexico to attack the United States.

djKENTO

I just can't stand Chevy Chase... never liked him.

Bill Campbell

I have seen this movie many times and now my favorite quote is "That's not a real turtle!"

REDR58

I hear “Disclosure Day” is the worst movie Spielberg has ever made… Kidding! ?

Bill Campbell

Apparently they read the comments and take suggestions from them, so I too will nominate Romancing the Stone. Great movie.

REDR58

It was a dead end.

gfixler

Another one! Of course, it is a city-based haunting movie. I do take George's larger point, that they tend to happen in remote areas, or developments, where buildings are typically one or two stories.

gfixler

Yeah! Seymour's the greatest.

REDR58

Germans started showing up in Mexico almost 100 years earlier: “According to Warren Schiff’s B.S. and M.A. Dissertations for the University of California (1948-49), one of the first Germans to arrive in Mexico was Karl Sartorius, a botanist and political refugee from Prussia (the dominant state of Germany at that time). He came to Mexico in 1824 and worked with a German mining company. Sartorius eventually bought a large tract of land known as El Mirador, a coffee plantation near Huatusco in Veracruz. This estate became an extremely successful sugar cane and coffee plantation. Karl’s descendants continued to own the plantation and his descendant, Florentino Sartorius, became a successful speculator in cattle around the time of the Spanish-American War (1898). Other German plantations sprang up in the State of Chiapas after 1890, thanks to increasing coffee demand from Germany.” https://www.indigenousmexico.org/articles/the-germans-in-mexico-1821-1910

Ian Hunter (NewbieInOttawa)

All solid pics! LA Story for sure. I also like Grand Canyon, haven't seen it in years though.

Ian Hunter (NewbieInOttawa)

I know Simone mentioned she was watching her way through Cheers, not sure how far through that series she is, but I wonder if she'll recognize the barman (Fred Asparagus) an episode in season 7.

Jeff K.

See, I haven't watched Evolution since I saw it in the theater. I remember being so hyped for it based on the trailers, but coming out of it being severely underwhelmed and disappointed, so I'll be curious to revisit it with George and Simone next week.

Jeff K.

It was indeed inspired by Henry Hill. Nora Ephron (who wrote My Blue Heaven) was married to Nicholas Pileggi (who wrote both the book Wiseguy and the film Goodfellas), and both movies came out in theaters one month apart.

Richard Pearce

I think they need to learn the merengue and react to it

Jonathan Eaton

For the ultimate Steve Martin silliness The Jerk (1979)

Jonathan Eaton

For a Spielberg comedy: 1941 (1979) starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd.

Michael

Yes! Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! An amazing Steve Martin movie!

Steve Mercier

"Would you say I have a plethora of piñatas?" "A what?" "A plethora." "Oh yes, you have a plethora." "Jefe, what is a plethora?" "Why, El Guapo?" "Well, you told me I have a plethora. And I just would like to know if you know what a plethora is. I would not like to think that a person would tell someone he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has no idea what it means to have a plethora." "Forgive me, El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else and are looking to take it out on me?"

Guy Gordon

I wouldn't disagree, actually. Did not like Disclosure Day. I think it might be my least favorite Spielberg movie. Either that, Color Purple, Crystal Skull or The BFG.

Guy Gordon

No way is 1941 one of the worst movies made. It has its flaws, but it also has some of the most impressive and fun scenes made. It's petty much on the level of It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World with better production. If nothing else, John Williams' score is a masterpiece.

Jay

Damn. Mistakes happen and i have no right t be mad about it. But man i got an email this morning about Evolution and thinking I would get to watch it with you guys when I got home from an awful work day where the morning meeting informed me my position is being phased out really helped me get through the day. Yeah. man...the sadness. oh well Just been getting a lot of life lessons on disappointment lately. This is very minor but awwww maaaaannnn.

Adam

Still holding out hope that another Steve Martin movie makes it on the schedule, Parenthood. It has a cast you both would love. Steve Martin, a young Keanu Reeves, a very young Joaquin (Leaf) Phoenix, Rick Moranis, Mary Steenburgen and a lot others. The only movie I can think of where Steve Martin doesn't have white hair is Little Shop of Horror's. It's dyed black in that one. Small role, though.

Jeff K.

It STINKS!

Marvin Just Marvin

1941 doesn't get enough luv. Also, Neighbors (1981) would be another good one with John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd.

Sumner Hayes

George: Why would they need an animatronic turtle? [ 2 minutes pass ] Movie: Asked and answered!

R. Chang

Steve Martin starting going grey in his teens. Another movie that was shot around the same time, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, is one of my favorites and features Steve Martin as a young dashing grifter and I don't really know that he pulls off the "young" part. Fantastic movie though.

Hammond of Texas

Man, I was so hoping for a plethora of trivia......

Skip577

Simone might enjoy that for my 5th grade talent show, my best friend and I performed the saloon dance number. Our moms made our amigos costumes and we did the dance step for step. And yes….we won that year.

MacGuffinStuff

Simone over here evicting poor ghosts like it's their fault they're trapped between planes. Surprised George didn't just scoff at the question about "undeniable" proof, because anyone can question anything as circumstantial evidence etc. but when it happens to you and you exhaust all logical possibilities leaving only, well, some things occured that I can't explain happened and they seemed intentional. And yes I bought new CO detectors. Long story short I moved in an atheist, kind of condescending one too, but things happened, and by the way, human rules, like folklore and Hollywood, yeah I don't believe any of that stuff really, and I never SAW a ghost, but it would do things, like a prankster just wanting a little attention. I ignored it all until one day I was alone in the house, and it pranked me good, kinda freaked me out to be honest and I'm not actually physically scared of many things, but this was weird. Anyway I wasn't a dick about it, I didn't tell whatever it was to leave, that's rude, Simone 😆 I just respectfully offered to exist and let exist, and it didn't really mess with me after that. Post script, after we broke up my girlfriend told me that before i moved in and after I left, the weird stuff was so much more crazy. I think it liked me.

MacGuffinStuff

Just in case you haven't had 75 comments explaining the upside down exclamation point in Spanis. It's actually placed at the begining of a sentence that ends with a right side up exclamation point (¡ ... !)so that if you're reading the sentence you know starting it what the tone is, the same is done with the question mark (¿ ... ?). It's one of the great things about Spanish, like being spelled phonetically for the most part. I love English but, ¿what the fuck?... See that's grammatically correct in Spanish what I did there.

Gern Blanston

Yes George, Spielberg has done slapstick. Way more slapstick than in 3 Amigos. The film was 1941. Widely regarded as one of his worst..but a favorite of mine.

Gern Blanston

I'd love a reaction to 1941. Not sure George would appreciate some of Belushi's slurs tho.

Jay

Musicals are nightmares for the youtube channel though. before I became a patron i wouldn't even bother watching a reaction to a musical.

Jayson Phillips

There is a similar movie more modern like this but I can't rem the name. A man visits his bro in London and was set on a secret agent tour thinking its all a set up but he becomes involved it in deep lol it's funny.

Els

Not to mention it's also a "premake" of Galaxy Quest.

Jesse Coombs

Romancing the Stone is great. Maybe the only rom-com adventure movie?

Jesse Coombs

As far as great Martin Short movies, I'd HIGHLY recommend "Innerspace". It's also a Joe Dante movie (The Burbs, Gremlins 2).

brog5108

Especially since they want to see Steve Martin without white hair

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

Can't believe Simone didn't recognize Brian Thompson who played a Klingon, a Dosi, a Jem'Hadar and a Romulan in Star Trek 😄🤓

Guy Gordon

Heh, yeah. The combo of the 40s setting with the 70s comedy asthetic causes a few less-than-pc things. Kinda surprised there aren't more. The age old "product of its era" situation. Still, it's a fairly brief issue buried among the endless insanity in that film. Not like the last act of Animal House isn't full of other problematic moments of its era. If there's one thing that 1941 isn't, it's dull or boring. It'd be good for reaction videos with one moment of craziness to the next. It may be overly silly for some, to be sure, and I get that. I always thought it would have been far more of a success if it had been released a decade earlier. It's much more of a 60s type of huge and absured comedy film.

Farbod

Surprised they havent done this one yet. Classic. Also My Blue Heaven is a great Steve Martin movie where he doesnt have his white hair.

Shawn B

came here to say this. hes got black hair in that one

MacGuffinStuff

So in 1916, Mexico was balls deep in the Mexican Revolution, it was a decade long war, got pretty bad, and it's the reason I live in California 😆 (great grand parents noped out from Zacatecas, Michoacan, Jalisco, Mexico City) and already had cousins living in California. All that to say: This movie is hilarious on multiple levels. All of the stereotypes are iconically ironic to me, it's a true Chicano Gen X comedy classic. Up there with Next Friday and the Cheech and Chong movies, American Me is a tragedy but it's funny to me, we would get stoned and watch Blood In, Blood Out so we could do impressions of the over the top cholo accents. Vatos Locos ForEVER EY! 🤣 EDIT: American Me is not funny, I apologize to any current members of any organization of which I have no knowledge of. But it was pretty funny in the context of Role Models...

The Real Andrew Kim

I think Simone is thinking of Les Landau not Jon Landis. Les Landau was a regular trek director. Jon Landis never did anything trek.

djKENTO

Can't imagine who Simone was talking about because John Landis has never ever directed anything involving Star Trek ever. hahaha.

FranciscoGios

Some of us Spanish speaking people are told in school to start with a punctuation mark in a sentence or in a word to signal the reader to use with an emotional tone.

zona999

Spooky season recommend....the great and nearly forgotten horror film, "Angel Heart"(1987), starring De Niro and Mickey Rourke.

REDR58

Also, they should watch "The 'Burbs" here.

REDR58

He was also "Rick" in The Terminator (one of the guys with Bill Paxton at the Griffith Park Observatory): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HquvmjOqpwY He should also be very familiar to fans of "The X-Files" as he plays a notable role there.

REDR58

Don't forget "The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak" (1984) (as very tenuously Indiana Jones-esque)!

Senec

Bonus trivia: John Landis is famous for also doing movies like An American Werewolf in London, Trading Places, Coming to America, and Animal House. He also directed the video for Michael Jackson's Thriller! I imagine Simone has seen the video before, but maybe its new to George? It might make a nice bonus Halloween reaction, since its only about 15 minutes long :) I also noticed another famous name in the credits for The Three Amigos, and that would be Deborah Nadoolman. Shes a Costume Designer known for creating some iconic looks, such as Michael's jacket in the Thriller video, as well as Indiana Jones' outfit. I guess she also made the Three Amigos costumes too lol

REDR58

Yes, The German appears to use the same kind of revolver, a Colt Single Action Army Quick Draw.

REDR58

That's Joe Mantegna as Fat Tony.

parker469a

"Yes, the talking tortoise in Three Amigos! (1986) was created and operated as a hand puppet. • Hand Puppet Mechanism: Special effects creator Doug Beswick revealed that the tortoise was a hand-operated puppet where an operator's hand went up through the bottom of the shell. • Head and Neck Controls: The puppet featured a stick control inside the head to slide the neck forward and backward like a real turtle, while a second operator used a cable mechanism to open and close its mouth. • Real-Life Mold: The exterior shell and body were cast using a mold taken from a real tortoise."

2026-10-24 22:00 I have not seen this movie since the late 1980s. Lots of fun watching it again as I remembered nothing about except for the Amigos' salute. "El Guapo" means “the Handsome” and is played by Mexican actor Alfonso Arau aged about 54 during the filming of this movie, so yeah, not quite 40 at all. In 1916, 100,000 pesos was roughly equivalent to $50,000 or about $1,545,596 today. George, the origin of piñata may go back to China: "A JOURNEY ACROSS CONTINENTS The history of the piñata stretches far beyond Mexico. Some scholars trace its earliest forms to ancient China, where clay figures filled with seeds were broken during New Year celebrations as a ritual to attract prosperity and good fortune. Through trade routes, this custom eventually reached Europe, particularly Italy and Spain, during the Middle Ages. In Spain, a decorated clay pot known as “the pignatta” was used in religious festivities, especially during Lent. Spanish missionaries later brought this tradition to the Americas during the colonial period. PIÑATAS AS A TOOL FOR EVANGELIZATION In the 16th century, Augustinian friars introduced the piñata to New Spain as part of their evangelization efforts. One of the earliest documented uses of piñatas in Mexico took place in Acolman, near Teotihuacán, where friars incorporated them into the newly established posadas. The piñata became a powerful teaching tool. Its visual symbolism allowed religious concepts to be communicated clearly, even across language barriers and different literacy levels." https://naatikmexico.org/blog/the-origins-of-piatas-in-mexican-posadas-and-beyond-a-tradition-of-faith-culture-and-celebration The convenient plane belonged to the dead German pilot who was seen flying to El Guapo’s earlier. George, when you said oh look, they’re in California as the plane flies by you can see it’s a model held up by thin lines. The airplane itself, a “Tuppan 601" (a fictional name) is a German-built Bücker Bü 131 "Jungmann" which first few in 1934, so it's a bit out of time. The late Patrice Martinez, who was born in New Mexico was also in Beetlejuice as the receptionist Miss Argentina in the underworld waiting room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAwnYHoyYZ8 She was about 23 in Three Amigos and died aged only 55 in 2018. Norbert Weisser who played the German who got pinned with the knife is from Germany and he was in Hocus Pocus and Schindler’s List. He was also in Breaking Bad as the German “Peter Schuler” in the episode "Madrigal" and in Better Call Saul as the same character in the episode “JMM”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8uZZKpgZWg The “Hot Señorita” who kisses Ned at the end of the movie is played by Rebecca Ferratti, a former Playboy model and she was also in Ace Ventura Pet Detective: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T43B51QwTbc

Tyler Explains It All

I just saw it in NYC last month with Ethan Slater as Seymore. It was amazing live

Tyler Explains It All

So, in Spanish the upside down "!" and "?" function like a normal one. They just tell the reader it's going to be a question or exclamation right away.

Drew Acheson

I feel i must shill for the movie Roxanne again. Steve Martin in a "modern day" (80s) take on Cyrano de Bergerac, co-starring Daryl Hannah.

ken

The Asperagus shout out got me lol

Hermits Window

we also have the "13th floor" and "1408" amongst others

Data Cable

Ah, the spiritual prequel to Galaxy Quest. As for Steve Martin suggestions: The Man with Two Brains

Steve kephart

If you guys want another really funny Steve Martin movie, check out Bowfinger.

Justtired

At the premiere, all three had agreed to wear their Amigos costumes. At the last minute, Steve Martin called Chevy Chase and said “let’s both wear our tuxes and not tell Marty.” While all three are associated with SNL, only Chevy Chase and Martin Short were regular cast members. Steve Martin hosted the show 16 times. LA Story, Roxanne and Parenthood would be great watches. Father of the Bride too. Not a popular opinion, but I enjoyed Leap of Faith.

Data Cable

Closest name I can think of that she may have been confusing him with is Les Landau, who started as a first assistant director on TNG, then moved up to director of 42 episodes spanning every series of the Berman era.

Samuel Johns

I am a little disappointed in George for noting how good of a voice Joe Mantegna has without realizing he's Fat Tony. A Simspons fan indeed, George. Lol Keep up the good work you two. I really do enjoy your guys' reactions.

Kyle West

I don't know about the history of piñatas, but I just don't quite understand them. At least today with the kinds sold. Does a kid really want to celebrate his birthday beating Spider-Man with a stick until he busts open and drops a bunch of goodies?

Matt Dellarosa

Great reaction. I especially loved the reaction to the "My Little Buttercup" song and dance, lol. Ill take this opportunity to put in another plug for Innerspace starring Martin Short. Im pretty sure its his best comedy movie next to this one. Captain Ron was good along with Pure Luck but not as good as Innerspace. Also he was great in Father of the Bride 1 & 2 alongside Steve Martin. He also played a hilarious character in The Big Picture starring Kevin Bacon, a massively underrated movie. But really, watch Innerspace, its great. Im not a huge Chevy Chase fan but I do recommend Cops and Robersons, Funny Farm, Fletch (only the first one), Spies Like us and Dirty Work. Nothing But Trouble was just ok. Not great.

Matt Dellarosa

My top Steve Martin picks are The Jerk, Parenthood, Roxanne, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Bowfinger. I already mentioned Father of the Bride. I didnt care for LA Story but some people like it. Hard pass on Cheaper by the Dozen. The Spanish Prisoner is a great movie and may be one of Steve Martins first serious roles.

Steve Arnold

OMG! Simone speaking German. 😱 Now my life is complete! 😂👍🏻

OddThomas

10 yr old me thought this was the funniest film ever made. I'm no longer 10.

OddThomas

For more Martin Short, Innerspace. Steve Martin and Short also teamed up for Only Murders in the Building.

gfixler

Maybe we could watch Only Murders in the Building, starring Steve and Martin, and Selena Gomez. Tony Plana (El Guapo) guest stars in season 5, and maybe others. I've only seen a few episodes of season 1 years ago, and it was fun.

Beddoe

More Steve Martin requests: - L.A. Story (1991) - Bowfinger (1999) Both written by Steve Martin.

Eddy V Ruiz II

Spielberg Comedy ... 1941 ( although watch the theatrical, the "directors" gets a little long and the scenes were cut for a reason)

Robert Farias Jr.

Little shop of horrors, George! Or My Blue Heaven for brunette Steve Martin, lol.

Derek Vane

If you're looking for a fun Martin Short movie, I recommend Innerspace! It's funny, crazy and directed by Joe Dante (Gremlins, Gremlins 2).

joejud1017

Speaking of hauntings only being ground level, you should react to the movie 1408 from 2007. It breaks that trope.

Joe Concepts

That continues to be fun in later seasons. It remains crazy how much chemistry Selena Gomez has with two old guys.

Cc Decc

You know...still not a thing for me. So very broad. Ah well.

Lycowolf

Since you enjoyed the premise of this movie, you guys should watch 'The Man Who Knew Too Little' starring Bill Murray. A great underrated comedy.

2026-10-24 22:00 My dad and I saw this when it came out I was about 14 at the time. It's one of my wife's favorite movies, which is one of the reasons I knew she was the "one" to marry. My kids love it and now my grandkids love it. My oldest grand daughter when she was like 2 would do sing and do the my little buttercup routine/song. Cutest thing ever. We watch this at least once a year. As for Steve's "rope tricks". that's how he got started. He did magic and animal balloons and rope tricks etc at Knott's Berryfarm and then went on to work at Disneyland for a bit I believe. He was a "prop" type comedian. Fun fact about Steve most people especially younger folks don't realize that Steve Martin although known for his association with SNL was never a cast member. And although he and Martin Short are best friends now, prior to this they met once but didn't really "hit it off". It was prepping and filming this film that created their friendship.

As for Chevy he had and still has a reputation of being "difficult". I read that Steve and Martin and others struggled off an on and with Chevy. But that's just how Chevy is. He's still funny. As for Steve's hair color i read his book and he said he started going gray as a teenager hair turning fully white by late 20's very early 30's. Before he started doing movies. So if you do see him with dark hair in a movie it's dyed or wigged. Speilberg had done a comedy starring John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd called 1941.

If you watch "Little Shop of Horrors," please watch the theatrical version. It's the one that generations grew up with. Now, if people insist you watch the "director's cut ending," which is fundamentally different (and arguably not a part of shared cultural history), please watch as a separate "bonus" viewing after the actual movie.

Donna Castellano

I wasn't a fan of it either. It was during The X-Files madness (of which I was a huge fan) and David Duchovny being in it was a huge draw. I watched it twice and it just wasn't that great IMO.

Donna Castellano

I don't understand why 1941 is so hated. I love it.

WastedPo

No, that was not a real turtle saying "good night, Ned" during the campfire scene. Imdb trivia isn't always factual.

John

Little Shop of Horrors (1986) has a Black haired sinning Steve Martin

Ashton Lewis

Some good Steve Martin films to consider: The Jerk, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, The Lonely Guy, Cheaper By The Dozen, Bowfinger Some good Chevy Chase films to consider:

Samuel Johns

All of Me is a fantastic Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin movie you guys would enjoy.

gfixler

The singing turtle was actually played by a famous dog named Friday.

REDR58

"National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" is still my favorite Christmas comedy, Chase's behavior to others notwithstanding. And "Memoirs of an Invisible Man" (1992) has some really interesting visual effects, especially for a movie from that time.

Andy H.

Steve Martin is also dark haired in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. Fun movie and pretty excellent editing.

PenPen13

The inverted exclamation point at the start of the title is tge correct Spanish use. In Spanish exclamation and question marks come in pairs, like brackets ¡! ¿?

Dimitri

Kinda surprised that you guys didn't notice that Galaxy Quest is essentially a remake of this movie, just 90's sci-fi instead of silent movie western.

Richard C

This is what you call movie magic.

They weren't prop guns. WE know this because they shot a killed the inivisible swordsman.
