now all you need is back in action with brendan fraser to complete the live action/looney tunes trilogy.

Cartoons ReAct

I know we don't talk about it...but there is also Space Jam New Legacy...with not so good acting from Lebron(mostly as he acted opposite nothing) and those weird villains that the extras tried hardest to make them seem enjoying a basketball game

The Maestro

I'd also like to recommend Loony Toons: Back in Action starring Brendan Fraser

Tom B

Thank you Simone for not spoiling Buffy season six. I am sill making my way through the show. I am waiting for the day when you finally get George to watch it and doctor who

Ghostdm

Watching Season 6 of Buffy is how you gain the perk: Emotional Armor

BigSlice

Great thumbnail

Simon

George looking through Will Forte's filmography and not seeing the Weird Al film they reacted to a few weeks ago...I even remember Simone pointing him out in that one. He was one of the studio executives (the one that insults both 'Weird Als' in his presence lol).

Tom B

Back in action is one of my favorites, Timothy Dalton is great in it

Scott CineRam

WB (temporary) head David Z decided to shelve the movie permanently for a tax write-off. He did the same thing with the Batgirl movie. Despite the very good test screening scores, he was not going to release the movie at all. The public outcry kind of forced him to sell the finished movie to a different distributor, Ketchup Entertainment. Now CVA has out-grossed the Supergirl movie. Ha ha ha. Ha. No word yet on whether Batgirl will see the light of day eventually.

Cartoons ReAct

Well, her name is Martha Kelly and I love her voice acting on Carol and the End of the Universe and Common Side Effects(which is getting a season 2 next year)

JayDee

Will Forte best character is McGruber hands down. The SNL skits incredible. The Film is even better and the laughs are non stop

JoeNotCharles

Hey - it's between Canadian Thanksgiving and American Thanksgiving, which means it's Over the Garden Wall season! George's reaction IMMEDIATELY linking the Looney Tunes to myths reminded me how much he would love that show, so I'm once again begging you to watch it!

Shin skin is so thin, but at least you have a twin. Maybe you could shim it with some tin and call that a win. But if a whale skins its tail, will it heel? Or roll over and play dead? No, I think that's just dogfish. Nurse, my tube's come out again.

"Keeping records though. That will be handy" Spoken like someone who used to work in a lawyers office.

so when David Zaslav took over Warner Brothers from the AT&T people, the whole company was in dire financial straits. they were hemorrhaging money thanks to bad bets like Shazam 2 and The Flash, releasing theatrical films day and date on HBO Max (which cost their relationship with Christopher Nolan), as well as other financial bombs in related media spaces like Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. in order to stop the bleeding Zaslav made the decision to shelve a couple of HBO Max movies to get the tax write off. Batgirl was one, Coyote vs Acme was another. Ketchup Entertainment acquired distribution rights for a song (worldwide rights for $50 million), and then distributed the film and made a shitload of money from the theatrical run. it seems to have worked out for everyone involved. And if George wants to watch some old Looney Tunes, he should. they're surprisingly adult, especially the early ones. I don't mean in terms of content but more subject matter. like a lot of the concepts completely fly over a kid's head. I think my absolute favorite of these is Don't Give Up the Sheep featuring Sam the Sheepdog and Temu Wile E. Coyote. It's just perfect.

Thall

That was unexpectedly fun and had some really emotional beats! And how dark that got, lol! Loved it

Kevin Cormier

Lana Condor was great in the cancelled-too-early show Deadly Class.

Daniel Jones

There is a statement at the end of the closing credits: "Dedicated to everyone who posted, shared, held up signs, and spoke out when it counted. This film made it to the big screen because of you."

Tyler Foster

Batgirl is probably doomed because it wasn't actually finished. I think it was like 70% done. There were no effects and they hadn't finished principal photography. Coyote vs. Acme was much easier to save because the film was fully finished. Scoob: Holiday Haunt was also fully finished. Batgirl was the one that was the least complete.

REDR58

There is of course the image here seen on IMDb and other sources of Leslie Grace dressed in her Batgirl costume. There are other photos out there, behind the scenes and onset photos and such. But this is probably the most well-known image.

CouchCheese

David Zaslav is what you'd imagine from a studio CEO from the modern era: a brutal cost-cutting, content-purging, mass-layoff-initiating, greedy soulless suit that is reviled by creatives and fandoms of various pop-culture properties the company maintained. Shelved films for tax write-offs, pulled tons of content from HBO Max, and was of course one of the key figureheads in the Paramount Warner merger. He left his role after the Paramount WB acquisition with a $600 million golden parachute while many at WB lost their jobs, if you wanted another reason to hate him.

JoeE

That German film, M, starring Peter Lorre (pronounced like lorry) is very good, as is the Maltese falcon

"Describe in detail the supply chain of your fantasy kingdom including cash crops and resource statistics and economic projections. List your fantasy ancestry at least 12 generations back.."

So glad you guys watched this, I put it on my Plex server a few weeks ago but haven't watched it yet.

Els

George, your life is not complete if you've never watched classic Looney Tunes. The Chuck Jones ones are my favorites. I recommend "Roman Legion Hare", which I recently rewatched after several decades. The funniest six minutes you'll ever see. Not only are the gags distilled down to their hilarious essence, but there are some surprising artistic touches, and the animation medium is employed to excellent effect (as one could say of Disney, but nothing like Disney). It's also the source for a useful quote in real life: "Ooh, what a grouch!" Later some cartoons are spoofs of famous operas, etc., but these are better appreciated after watching the "straightforward" stories. The character of Daffy Duck evolved over decades from being merely silly and wacky to (what I find more interesting) petty, vain, and greedy. (We didn't really see this side in CvA.) This allowed for more complex plots involving Bugs, Daffy, and a third dangerous antagonist.

Mo's Not Mortal

Guys hear me out. This is two completely different recommendations, but they are both solid. The Temptations And/or Dora and the lost city of gold.

YodaKungFuu

"i cant remember anything from "Will Forte" hurts because he stars in one of the most crititcally acclaimed films of our generation.......... MacGruber

gfixler

They dropped all that birdseed from a helicopter, and that's the resulting angle of repose? A super tall, narrow cone of birdseed? Unwatchable.

bdennis2004

I like that Simone mentioned Mrs. Doubtfire in this reaction considering rhe similarity in that movie where as a child, you root for Daniel, and as a grown up, you totally feel for his ex wife. And as a kid you root for Roadrunner, but as an adult you feel for Wile E. Coyote.

Jay Johnson

someone who has permanent shoulder damage from moving boxes of said records.... (at least that's what it sounds like from what she's said)

MacGuffinStuff

Haven't watchex the movie yet but I love the picket sign in the thumbnail! Thing is I don't currently have a working laptop or computer so I watch your reactions on my phone while I watch the actual movie or show on my TV, so I love that you take all the trouble to make the whole reaction available, i just prefer to wait till I can see the movie on a large enough screen for my ancient eyes lol

REDR58

Peter Lorre with Bogart in “Casablanca.”

gfixler

Never really noticed it until George said it, but yeah... • Wile E. Coyote chases Road Runner • Elmer Fudd chases Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck • Yosemite Sam chases Bugs Bunny • Tasmanian Devil chases Bugs Bunny • Gossamer chases Bugs Bunny • Sylvester chases Tweety Bird and Speedy Gonzalez • Miss Prissy and Barnyard Dawg chase Foghorn Leghorn • Pepé Le Pew chases Penelope Pussycat • Marvin the Martian chases anyone (to take over earth) Side note, while I'm here: Peter Lorre's name is pronounced LOOR-ee.

Joe Concepts

So great that the theme of this movie kind of fits the story of it getting shelved. The evil company makes products fail to eventually lead to profit. And the production company was going to shelve it and supposedly make money by doing so. And great that it turns out to be a popular, very well-reviewed movie, and that courtroom scene is almost bringing people to tears. Stupid executives.

Joe Concepts

Fun fact, it really DOES land that way if you try it.

paul rai

Sad timing, but it was just reported that voice actor Eric Bauza (who voiced Bugs Bunny, Foghorn Leghorn, and Daffy in this film, among dozens of other animated characters in movies) just passed away. So tragic, as he was one of the best voice actors in the industry. R.I.P.

gfixler

If you watched the cartoons, you know the roadrunner was having a blast the whole time. The coyote never had to look for him. He would turn around, and the bird would be right behind him, looking at him, or he'd come tearing down the road and stop right in front of the coyote, then go "beep-beep" (often more like a thunk thunk, or thump thump sound to me), and take off running again. They're BFFs. They got nothing else to do without each other.

gfixler

Will Forte dancing: https://vimeo.com/1168327984 I think I posted it the last time Simone said George needed to watch it, but obviously he hadn't yet 😆 It's less a skit, and more an endurance test for everyone else in the scene, trying not to break.

REDR58

I watched Looney Tunes quite a bit as a kid and what was extra funny about it to me is that “Acme” is the name of a real company from Philadelphia, where I grew up near. ACME Markets was founded in Philadelphia in 1891 and its headquarters are still in the area. However, they mostly just sell groceries, unlike the variety of items in the movie! acmemarkets.com Local ACME commercial from 1980: www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7aifr08_Mk I’m always on the side of Roadrunner. If Coyote can afford all the stuff to try other catch Roadrunner, he can afford to buy food elsewhere! Watching John Cena here reminds me of how good he is in “Peacemaker” which you really should watch. P.J. Byrne, as Buddy Crane’s assistant, who ends up bald, was in Bruce Almighty, Evan Almighty, Horrible Bosses, Final Destination 5 and The Wolf of Wall Street. Cena and Byrne are wearing a variety of “bolo ties” throughout the movie: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolo_tie You have also seen Lana Condor, who plays Paige, in X-Men: Apocalypse as Jubilation Lee aka Jubilee and Alita: Battle Angel. One of the lawyers is played by Kenneth Choi who plays Jim Morita in Captain America: The First Avengers and Morita’s descendant, Principal Morita in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Choi was also in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Ari Ramirez

Unfortunately, Eric Bauza, the voice actor behind 90% of the movie's animated cast, has just passed away, likely making this his final film appearance.

Alright, people can fling all the heat at me they want for this , its an old old stance and I've already fought the wars over it: I sincerely wish that Buffy had ended after Season 5 with that amazing final moment and image, which I will not describe. I own the box set, and only one time did I ever watch it through the last two seasons. You felt Whedon's divided attentions. The one redeeming thing was the big reveal at the end of the musical episode, and perhaps not surprisingly that was the only episode Whedon wrote in Season 6. Then Season 7 was wobbly trying to recover as the original adolescent/school metaphor was entirely played out.

REDR58

He was to be in the upcoming "Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical" which seems to be in preproduction, but as "Coyote vs. ACME" was completed in 2023, his last work seems to be the ongoing series "Avatar: Seven Havens" as Jin-Woo, Kosal, Kuzon, Pich, Pudding Guy and other voices. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1082823/

newhastings

insane timing, rest in peace eric bauza

Simon Pegged Me

George, in the New Yorker, Coyote v. ACME is the opening statement of Wile E. Coyote's lawyer. Its author, Ian Frazier, writes regular humor essays for the magazine. Like most of his pieces, Coyote v. ACME is short, only about a page long, so the writers who adapted it for the screen did the heavy lifting on this one. The basic story, its sympathy and warmth and pathos, all the feels really, are their doing. That's not a knock on Frazier's essay. It's well done and very funny. It's just very different from the movie.

BTW: Chickpea fries—traditionally known as panisse in the south of France or panissa in Italy—are protein-packed, naturally vegan, and gluten-free snack sticks with a crispy exterior and a creamy, soft interior

rictus grin

i seriously enjoyed this movie

Der heilige Stuhl

The guy playing the invisible lawyers guys assistant is the guy from Wolf of Wallstreet where they said he went to lawschool. Apparently he did

The Real Andrew Kim

I can't believe we lost Eric Bauza! This sucks so hard... He was so worthy of being Mel Blanc's successor 😢 .

Dan Holmes

You guys should react to Looney Tunes, it's incredible.

Chase Schleich

No idea what you're talking about. Pretty sure that movie never got made. Doesn't exisit.

Zero-89

Not one, but TWO background cats this episode. Edit: And a foreground cat!
