Reid Mclellan

So, I'm an asshole for recommending this Movie, but you guys should watch 'The House That Jack built' from (2018) One, because I liked seeing you guys watch fucked up movies, and on relevance to this Movie, it stars Matt Dillon, who's a really good and talented actor, honestly underrated. Again, I'm an asshole for recommending this movie but I accept the consequences

Brandon

Strange coincidence, I just randomly watched their reaction to There's Something About Mary and George mentioned having seen The House that Jack Built. That won't necessarily stop them from doing a reaction to it one day, though.

Paul T Hewes

They had to do all double crossing to offset the smut.

David

content unavailable? solved

Jaaahn

works fine for me.

Wild reactions

Cc Decc

Perhaps i won't watch this one at work...

ArcadeAndy

Not the face I was expecting to see in the thumbnail, tbh

Link

Oh Gods; not the ancient fap texts of yore being reacted to on THE Cinebinge.com this morning..........😬😬😬Here's hoping no one asks for a Damned 'Thirteen' reaction, WTF guys...

Kickinthescience

Matt aint have do any acting to do a 3some with Denise Richards and Neve Campbell

Smooticus

to add to your discussion on the full movie post, Best Casting might have to go to Michael Caine and Sean Connery in the Man Who Would be King. For worst, i have to agree w/ George - John Wayne in the Conqueror

Kansas City Shuffler

About the film adaptation question, it’s not that there is any book with which it is impossible, it’s that most books aren’t good for adaptation word for word—but it’s that kind of adaptation that a Hollywood producer is gonna require. I mean, if you want a good example of nonfiction that was adapted to really good, original concepts for movies, Mean Girls was adapted from a nonfiction adolescent psychology handbook called “Queen Bees and Honeybees.” And There Will Be Blood was adapted from a nonfiction book about the oil industry in SoCal called “Oil!” Chanwook Park, who adapted “The Fingersmith” into The Handmaiden, said he tried to replicate the experience of reading the book without necessarily copying the plot word for word. That’s probably the healthiest way to approach it. I personally have thought of adapting the Epic of Gilgamesh into a supernatural fantasy thriller, but interpreting the friendship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu as a literal erotic romance—which no Hollywood Producer would agree to. Politics.

Brandon

They really don't make sleazy movies like this anymore and I kind of miss it. I was watching my copy and couldn't help notice the version they were watching in the reaction had a totally different colour grading. My version looks like a movie shot on film and released in 1998. Their version was re-graded to look more like a modern film shot and edited digitally. The muted colours are way more vibrant. This is just a long winded way of me saying that I wish they would stop doing that with older movies. George's remark about the editing and the acting... I think it was intentional on the director's part. This movie has very laid back and casual vibes regardless of what's happening in the scene. The B movie acting really works for me.

Badsos123

It's a damm good movie overall. I remember watching this in the theater and the twists were pretty good especially at the end.

Robert Cooper

I feel like this and Basic Instinct only really make sense if you have seen a THOUSAND of the sex thrillers that were released from the mid 80s to the mid 90s. Seriously, it was like comic book movies today -- there would be three in the theater at the same time.

VariantsWatchMovies

For more Matt Dillon I suggest Drugstore Cowboy, with a young Heather Graham and Kelly Lynch during her Cocktail & Road House run.

Sean Hennessy

Always had the biggest crush on Neve Campbell. She is still a smoke show today. This was a big movie for 18 yo me.

jmundt33a

Palmetto, Deceived, The Temp, Fatal Attraction

REDR58

Also, “The Flamingo Kid” (1984), “Singles” (1992) and “Beautiful Girls” (1996) for some lighthearted movies with Dillion.

Life in the cave of Garanoga

I'm here to answer the music question lol. Let's all swap some music and find new artist. As far as metal I have been on the Japanese kick for a while. Bands like Bridear, Bandmaid, ONE OK ROCK, NINGEN ISU, and Maximum the Hormone. Recently I have been hooked on Father of Peace, rock band and their entire catalog is great. Other artist I listen to right now is Rolling Quartz, been back on OAR..... Older OAR is just fucking peak save your life music. Their Souls Aflame album is perfection, Simone would love them I think if she hasn't heard them before. Goodbye June is amazing. And I am a K-pop and Korean music fan so the new BLACKPINK solos have been in rotation along with AKMU and Zior Park. Yes I am a music junkie lol Bonus shoutout to Loren, a Korean artist on YG's The Black Label who plays all the instruments and sings on his personal albums and is or was Rose's personal guitarist to play with her during IG livestreams.

REDR58

Simone, you should have been wearing your over the ear headphones and toque for the pool photo!

Joel

The twists... The TWISTS.. Love it lol

Life in the cave of Garanoga

Simone just inadvertently summoned the power of Jobu by singing Rick Vaughn's aka Wild Thing entrance song, now the movie Minor League from 1998 will finds its way onto the channel and then you will know why you never drink Jobu's Rum. "You trying to say Jesus can't hit a curve ball?"

Maiki

Bit offtopic, but for me, he'll always be the cop arresting Shane in the Fairytale of New York music video :)

Mike

For a fantastic example of a book that was deemed impossible to film, you should watch "Adaptation" with Nick Cage in a dual-role. The movie is about someone trying to adapt a book that seems impossible to film.

REDR58

Wow, George's speculation about the women in the poster being "lab-created" in the pool was not at all a concept that I would have even conceived of. But I love it. If only I hadn't seen this movie years ago.

Ben G

George and Simone's different reactions to this scene: 1:17:00 🤣

REDR58

For those younger folk among us who are not as familiar with Neve Campbell, at age 21, she became famous in the US after played a 15 year-old orphan with 4 siblings in the 1994-2000 TV series "Party of Five": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVIw5CLn2LI Then she went onto the Scream series in 1996.

Mark Messer

Oh wow wow I totally thought you guys were Watching Where the Wild Things Are. Im such an idiot 😂 damn smililar titles

Bob Bittner

Body Double, Dressed to Kill, Body Heat...

Ben G

One thing that seemed wrong but turned out right was Kevin Bacon's character being too quick to figure out the first twist.

jmundt33a

Final Analysis. And Body Heat and Fatal attraction have many remakes. Do Babysitter and Poison Ivy count, or is this a different offshoot.

jmundt33a

The book was impossible and the film was an endurance test.

Happy Hanukkah

While Denise Richards played a nuclear physicist and married Charlie Sheen. :-) (And we all know S&G nepotistically chose this movie because Neve is Canadian.)

Happy Hanukkah

This seems like an impossible film to react to.

Happy Hanukkah

I vote for Beautiful Girls. Another lighthearted one is One Night at McCool's (2001).

funky weapon

I was never allowed to watch this when it came out. no idea why. I just remember the pool scene in all the commercials and how it made me feel kinda funny.

DonkyDave

You don't realise how unbelievably fantastic 90s filmmaking was until you watch this movie, just pure unadulterated schlock

Happy Hanukkah

Since you brought it up, here's a request for The Man Who Would Be King (1975).

Happy Hanukkah

Looking forward to Species. That Ben Kingsley... hubba hubba!

djKENTO

Simone is right about Denise Richards’s level of fame at the time. Starship Troopers is a cult classic. Not a hit. This is the movie that made her really famous. As an old video store clerk this movie ALWAYS came back not rewound, stopped at one of the nude scenes. Also shout out to Denise’s OF account haha.

Link

OH NO😳

fforw

RIP Patrick Stewart T_T

Tay Schumaker

Top 5 movie for me of all time, could talk about it for hours

SbE

Should've been both of em with their heads sticking out of the pool, looking intently at the camera:)

photos_by_geoff

Gotta get "Lucky Number Slevin" on a poll soon!! You both like twists and turns and Lucy Liu amd Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis and so many others!!

High Priestess Darth Sioux

While watching George react to this movie, I feel like he's thinking, "I've filmed better acting on an adult movie set" especially the transitions to the sex scenes.

Snuggelbum

Really going hard on the timeless classics today eh lul

Simon Pegged Me

Generally, I like to be more than 6 degrees away from Kevin's bacon. And this might be the first time that King Lear, Hamlet, and Wild Things have been in a sentence together that didn't include the word "not."

Snuggelbum

"Also shout out to Denise’s OF account haha." Some things are better kept private btw

Andrew Hogan

Off topic, but so long Captain Picard. It was……fun.

Jay Johnson

toward the beginning of the movie (30 minutes into the cb site version), Simone gave one of her patented "Jeepers!" that cracked me up because the scene features Matt Dillion giving Denise Richards and another student a ride.... in his Jeep! (yes, I'm easily amused)

djKENTO

Oh really Snugglebum? Should I have kept that joke private on the Patreon account run by a guy who won an award for shooting VR X-rated videos? I guess I should be embarrassed.

REDR58

I should hope so! She’s from Guelph!

REDR58

I will never forget how they played “Wild Thing” by Tone-Lōc at my eighth grade Catholic school dance. I’m amazed we got away with that.

REDR58

We should watch Six Degrees of Separation here. I have a collection of Bacon movies called “The 6 Degrees Collection (The Big Picture / Flatliners / Hollow Man / Trapped / In The Cut / Where The Truth Lies)” Some of those movies are good. Well, one. And it’s just okay.

zona999

Please, for the love of god, since you mentioned Cruel Intentions, you guys have to watch "Dangerous Liaisons"(1988) starring Malkovich, Michelle Pfeiffer and Glen Close, based on the same source material except fantastic and not a crapfest like CI. It's so good with amazing performances.

REDR58

Single White Female (1992), Indecent Proposal (1993), Sliver (1993), Color of Night (1994), Bound (1996).

REDR58

Ben Kingsley? How about "Sexy Beast" (2000) with Kingsley, Ray Winstone and Ian McShane!

REDR58

So you've watched Wild Things, now you need to check out the direct-to-cable TV/video Wild Things 2 (2004) Wild Things: Diamonds in the Rough (2005) and Wild Things: Foursome (2010)! Neve Campbell (Suzie) was about 24 during the filming of the movie. Denise Richards (Kelly) was *26-27* (very old high schooler!) Matt Dillion was about 33-34. Kevin Bacon was about 39-40. That opening cheerleader sequence…Sheesh. ”Bring It On” this isn’t! Kelly’s mother Sandra’s (Theresa Russell) lawyer is played by Robert Wagner who was in the Austin Powers movies as Number 2. I am shocked you didn't recognize him without the eyepatch! A rare dramatic role for Bill Murray is "The Razor's Edge (1984) based on the 1944 W. Somerset Maugham book of the same name. I like how Bowden (Murray) upgrades from a beat-up 1977 AMC Gremlin to a 1995 Ferarri F355 Spider after the settlement from Van Ryan. Matt Dillon is left-handed. Clearly a clue that he is evil. Does no one listen to Flanders??? Walter’s (Marc Macaulay) black Dodge Magnum pickup is a new truck as you can see its temporary Florida license plate over the trailer hitch. Haven't seen this in years and it was way tamer than I remembered. I thought it was delightfully trashy fun.

REDR58

Oh, and someone in the Van Ryan household really liked WW1 and WW2-esque German firearms, as their gun case contains Luger P08 and Mauser C96 "Broomhandle" pistols and some Karabiner 98k bolt-action rifles.

Simon Pegged Me

Six Degrees of Separation would be a great react film. Of your collection of Bacon movies, I've seen Flatliners and Hollow Man. Hollow Man is okay on its own, but I've seen other channels have really entertaining reactions to it. I haven't seen anyone do Flatliners, but it was considered a must-see movie when it came out, back when I was a yout'.

Robert Cooper

Black Widow... That was on HBO seemingly daily for 2 years.

Data Cable

I first became aware of Neve in the 1992 Canadian series Catwalk, which was syndicated in the US.

Data Cable

Only saw this one once on cable back in the day. I vaguely remembered the first twist, and that copious backstabbing and double-crossing ensued, but had forgotten all the details.

Ben G

Not so much thriller as erotic: 9 1/2 Weeks. Plus they will get the Hot Shots parody reference.

Sporty Taco

The look of shock. lol. Absolutely perfect.

Z. Mulls

Another inside joke is that Theresa Russell (Sandra Van Ryan) was known for making erotic thrillers like Black Widow and Whore -- having her play the randy Mom was perfect casting

Mark Barger

For an erotic thriller with top notch acting try 1981's Body Heat.

John Richards

Two vastly superior titles in this genre: "Body Heat" with Kathleen Turner and William Hurt, and "The Last Seduction" with Linda Fiorentino (who played the pathologist in "Men in Black").

Cc Decc

I'd argue those are almost from a separate genre. Taking it seriously, whereas this one is just going for lurid fun.

Angela D. Mitchell

For a very different Neve Campbell, you should check out her work in Robert Altman's "The Company." Campbell was a trained ballet dancer and dances very difficult ballet onscreen as part of the company throughout -- no body doubles, all dancing real and unsimulated. It's a nice, breezy slice of life and an intimate look at the ballet world that we usually don't get, and Campbell gives a really good, thoughtful performance that took a tremendous amount of risk and training.

QuiGon

Now that was fun. I hope you will continue to watch the Bond movies soon in order to see Denise Richard's next movie (The World is not Enough, 1999) 🙂

Philipp Roensch

It's a kind of "I don't believe it's not porn" movie :D I mean twists are not that difficult when you don't show everything and edit around a continous story. Hilarious though, wild ideas indeed.

jmundt33a

Entertainment Weekly (or I guess the site that succeeded it) has at least three blurb updates about Donna Mills’ OF account. Why that particular staffer is invested enough to cycle said updates to the top of the site’s clicklist is anyone’s guess. I did not know Ms. Richards had decided to dabble herself. The odd thing about the notoriety of Wild Things and DR in it is that in the early 2000s there was an online push to compare the school pool scene to the Phoebe Cates pool scene in Fast Times and that was louder than discussion of the racier scenes for quite awhile.

jmundt33a

I was a Three To Tango fan. It is very 90s in a completely different way.
