Two weeks ago our double winner movie poll had The Sixth Sense in first place and a tie between Total Recall and Last Samurai! As before we'll flip a coin on the day of filming to see which movie we will watch, and the loser will be rolled into our main schedule and will be watched a little bit later. Here is this weeks poll with your suggestions as well as returning 2nd/3rd place titles from previous polls.

The Last Samurai has a major case of White Savior Disorder. Those guys Tom Cruise was supposed to be such a big help for were perfectly aware of, and competent with, firearms, and there's no way he could reach anywhere near what they would consider minimal competence with a katana in the time he had. At best, he'd have been able to offer some advice on small unit tactics.

Love the shanty in Hunt for Red October...

Well i guess this time around i'll be picking, in order: 1) War Games 2) Hunt for Red October 3) Man on Fire Yes, i know Hunt for Red October and Man on Fire are technically by most objective metrics far superior movies, but WarGames has a very special place in my cinematic heart. Together with Miracle Mile it has been prime nightmare fuel for me ever since i viewed it at a (too) young and impressionable age. It has also become a sort of personal litmus test: if you watch WarGames and underneath the camp see a sweat-inducing vision of how you are likely going to die then you are a Cold War kid, like me. If all you see is some silly 80ies teen flick full of hilariously dated things then you are not. There is something deeply formative about growing up with the knowledge that you are at any given moment just fifteen minutes away from dying in a thermonuclear fire. Not even due to some grand political events, but just because of some small computer glitch, or somebody far away and unimportant making a minor mistake at the wrong time (google Able Archer '83 for a good example. And that was just the tip of the incidents iceberg). Of course the end of the Cold War hasn't really changed the situation, we are all _still_ fifteen to thirty minutes away from death by ICBM every hour of every day, but the bonedeep _awareness_ of this fact has, for better or worse, faded from the consciousness of the later born. Anyways, WarGames, a highly underrated movie, if you look past the goofy trappings.

Why man on fire get no love!? Did it get poisoned in a previous poll?

James Hadden

It seems that one of my all time favourite movies is in last place, maybe not many people have seen Man on Fire, shame. I have to believe if they had, it would be doing better, but I guess each to their own

Githerax

Too many good ones! Would like to see George react to Wargames. And Simone would love Man on Fire, I suspect.

Gary Poussard

Id love War Games to win or if not that The Mask.

Eik104

If you ever run out of ideas, I feel The Big Lebowski (1998) and Misery (1990) would fit the channel really well

Eik104

Also, if you ever get to Boyz in the Hood, please follow it with its parody "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" with the Wayans brothers :)

JayF

As it looks like Hunt for Red October is running away with this one please consider adding its sequels on to upcoming polls.

David Brown

1.) Top Gun 2.) The Hunt for Red October 3.) WarGames

Caleb Harvey

Ben hur 1959 Sister act Ghost Bodyguard (Whitney Houston) Prince of Egypt

Githerax

Anyone remember 'UHF'? Calling all Yankovic fans, unite!

Jean-Dominic Lapointe

I know it’s not gonna win (this time!), but The Mask is just so delicious

Gary Trousdale

Suggestions? You're open to suggestions??

KKona Bill

Cloud Atlas is an amazing yet extremely underrated movie that you guys should watch!

WulfricsGong

Some of my favorite movies that I can highly recommend are "Good Will Hunting, "Perks of being a wallflower", "The edge of seventeen", and "About time"

Michael_AP

The Hunt for Red October is just powering away.... One could think it's being hunted. LOL

Michael_AP

If you two havn't watched "Good Morning, Vietnam" from 1987, then I would like to suggest it. I'm pretty sure both of you are gonna enjoy it. I can just imagine how Simone is gonna laugh her head of to "in more dire need....". Not gonna spoil it by saying more LOL

MJ

Is Django still available to poll?

G.S. Lissmann

If "Hunt for Red October" is it, allow me to recommend, for background on the Akula ("Typhoon" in NATO lingo) submarine and it's incredible super capabilities that are the film's MacGuffin. Aaron Amick's channel, here on Patron or on youtube, where it is "Sub Brief". He makes very, very, very detailed videos about submarines, Soviet nuclear submarines in particular. His video about the Akula/Typhoon specifically covers how Tom Clancy got the idea for the Red October's superpowers. There is an interesting reality behind it (though I shall not spoil).

Lilo & Stitch The Hunger Games Liar Liar Ghost

Kate Suhr

I was just thinking of suggesting Ghost. It's a great movie. It contains themes of true love, good vs evil, some humor in between getting justice and being a savior. Also...Swayze lol. I will say though it's a bit of a tearjerker.

Torstein Skurve

Would it be possible to add "Shaun of the Dead" to a poll? I løve the cornetto trilogy❤

David R

It looks like War Games is losing badly in this poll but I do HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it considering George works in AI. It stars a young Matthew Broderick just a few years before he would become forever and for all time remembered as the smart ass kid from a Chicago suburb who took an EPIC "Day Off"

Ham_Bogo

Dude... The Hunt for Red October is in the running?! Seriously, FUCK everyone who has anything to do with that.
