Goblins believe that the true owner of any items (i.e the sword) are the people who made it. To him, he is only rightfully taking back what belongs to the goblins. So when the owner that they sold the item to dies, the item should be returned to its maker. They did know what items the Horcruxes would be, because Dumbledore had looked for past memories. Dairy - destroyed by chance because Lucius was an idiot Ring - Gaunt's family ring, his mum's family who were super racist Locket - Represents Slytherin, found by RAB. He knew the cave was significant from the Orphanage days. Hufflepuff Cup - He got it when he worked at the shady store. He killed the owner and framed the house elf. Diadem - Represents Ravenclaw. Tricked Helena to obtain it from a forest. Harry and Dumbledore didn't know exactly what object, but figured it would be significant to represent Ravenclaw. Nigini - The snake makes the sixth horcrux because Voldy was not able to steal the Sword of Griffindor. We know Dumbledore guessed this because he instructed Snape to only tell Harry about the rest of the information he needs when Voldy is keeping the snake safe. One last edit! Every time Snape looks at Harry, he sees the eyes of the love of his life.

As you gusy enjoy fantasy novels, have you considered reading these books? Even though they start out as "kids books", they really are very well written and become very mature over time. I've never had a book where I had to put the book down after reading a line just to consider what the reveal means, then almost immediately again as another reveal is made. And then again. Those reveals impacted me in such a crazy way making a very unique reading experience. I really think you guys will enjoy them. There is a reason why they are trasured by so many people, including adults. And you can have them read to you by Stephen Fry if like me you have moved on from that boomer technology, paperbacks. ;) Jim Dale does a good job too.

Steve kephart

I do the same thing! How many times have you listened through them? For me, it's almost an anual thing. I was lucky to start reading the books after movie 4 came out, so I got to experiece the latter half from the books perspective.

V-J

Over 2 and half years later but was it because Harry was master of death or because of Lily's sacrificial protection charm? Maybe both idk.

Hey guys =) Many things are messed up in this movie for those who didn't read the book: - Voldemort was ingorant in his lust of power - any wand always belongs to the person who has defeated his owner - DEFEATED not KILLED. Dumbledore was disarmed by Draco and thanks to that elder wand belonged to him. Afterwards, in Malfoy's manor, Harry disarmed Draco and became master of this wand (edit: I was writing it when i was still watching you reaction - I forgot that this is explained at the end of the movie :)); - James (Harry's father) and Sirius were bullies in school, but when they grew up they've changed. Snape and Lily were best friends in school (even though they were in different houses), but once when they were arguing he called her "mudblood" (he immediately regretted it and apologised her) - this (and fact, that he has joined deatheaters) has changed everything in their relationship; - fun fact - during the Snape and McGonagall fight, he reflects her spells to immobilize other deatheaters in the hall; - this is not shown in the regular version of the movie, but there's deleted scene when Draco throws his wand to Harry, when he falls from Hagrids arms. Love ya guys. Best wishes from Poland

In Gringotts, they had been warned. So the goblins would know that Bellatrix' wand was stolen and who it was stolen by. Not a good idea to present the wand imo

Hamza

In the books, Harry fixes his original wand using the Elder wand, then breaks it because people will always look to steal it in their lust for power, but I do not think he chugs it off a bridge lol

After Voldemort cast the Killing Curse, no intervention or artifact was necessary to bring Harry back to life. There were two souls within Harry. Voldemort killed the fragment of his own soul; being "adjacent" to that spell brought Harry to the edge of death (ghostly Kings Cross Station and all that) but Harry merely had to choose to live. The Resurrection Stone allows the bearer to communicate with those who had died. That's why Harry could see his parents and friends. It's also why the original bearer of the Stone eventually killed himself; he tried to spend his life with the ghost of his deceased love. Harry's physical act was (unintentionally?) a metaphor for a psychological one. Use the stone to summon those you've lost, make sure you say what you what you need to say, then let go.

Raven Dark

The first Horocrux was Professor Quirrel from the first film. With Voldy on the back of his head. Harry was an eighth, and unintended Horocrux.

JediLounger

There is talk that The Cursed Child play will be adapted into a two part movie. I think it would be a good idea to do it, if only for some jokes about Harry working a 9-5 job in an office doing paperwork.

Kamilla Mari

They don't really explain much of anything in the movie. For example why Harry survived. Read on if you want to understand. When Harry was a baby, Lily sacrificed herself for him, which gave Harry the ultimate protection from Voldemort. Then, in GoF, Voldemort took Harry's blood to create his new body. What Voldemort didn't realise was that by doing so, he extended Lily's protection into his own body. Meaning that as long as Voldemort lives, the protection lives on, and Harry cannot be fatally harmed by Voldemort. Dumbledore guessed this. That's why he said it was essential that Voldemort would have to be the one to kill Harry (and unknowingly, kill himself). If anyone else had done it, Harry would have died. Now as to why Dumbledore couldn't let Harry know that he was going to survive. When Harry intentionally sacrifices himself, it gives the same protection to all of his friends, as the protection Lily left for Harry. Meaning that Voldemort can no longer fatally harm anyone of them. This would not have worked if Harry knew he was going to live, as it wouldn't be a real sacrifice. In the end, this is a story about how love is the ultimate magic.

Joel

Voldemort was so used to the idea that to defeat someone MEANS killing them that the idea of any other result simply never occurred to him, he was simply a murderer by default

King_Panarisi

reunion video for patreon exclusive? or will you watch it on your own?

Florian Hoyer

the imperia spell ron uses in the bank is one of the three forbidden spells also the dungeon is just slitherins house like their sleeping rooms are there as we saw in earlier movies so they were just send to their room

gobmob2000

Ok Explanation time: - First, the resurrection stone can not bring someone back from the dead, it does not work properly and only brings back people in the form of ghosts basically - In the books it is made very clear that no spell can protect you from the killing curse, so the whole wizard lighting battle is a film invention. For example: when dumbledore dueled voldi he protected him and harry by animating statues and flinging them in front of the killing curse among other things. Which makes the reason why Harry survived all the more impressive among the wizard world. - Harry survived the first time, because lily used a little known sacrificial magic, she sacrificed her own life to protect him, however for it to work, the caster needs to intentionally sacrifice themselves for whoever they wish to protect - In the books it is explained that when voldi came back in Goblet of fire, and used Harry's blood, he took lily's magic within him, making Voldi a kind of good version of a horcrux, basically, as long as Voldi lived, voldi could not kill Harry. Basically Voldi defeated himself the moment he did that. This is the reason why Harry had a choice and could come back. - When voldi took in Harry's blood, it was also and opportunity for Voldi to save himself, but he chose not to and now his pieces of soul are stuck in eternal anguish in Limbo, unable to move on. - In the books, when Harry sacrificed himself, he did the same magic that his mother/Lily used, and cast the protection to all of the students and teachers at the school, voldi was not able to kill anyone anymore after that. - Dumbledore knew all of this, so did not really "race a pig for slaughter", only pretended too because that was necessary for his plan to work. - Mrs Malfoy did not tell the truth to Voldi because she lost faith in him, this is the second time Voldi was unable to kill harry now, when Harry jumped out of Hagrids arms you saw a load of Death eaters leave, because they thought Voldi lost his Mojo and that Harry was more powerful. - In the books, Voldi did not die by being Snapped by thanos but his body simply lay on the ground, because one of the big themes of the Books is that Voldi's name and reputation is more impressive then he actually is, in reality he was nothing special. - In the books, harry did return the wand to Dumbledores grave and left it there, the whole throwing it over the bridge thing is a film invention. - The books are really worth a read, you guys should read them when you get the chance.

This was a fun series to watch with y’all. Glad you enjoyed it! The Binge Mode podcast did a great “deep dive” on the Harry Potter movies and books. It’s worth a listen if you want more HP in your ears.

Florian Hoyer

u seems rly confused about the stone. it was explained he not restores anyone really, its just ghosts he brings back, u cant restore someone, harry surived cause voldemorts kill spell only killed himself in harry, harry basicly was 2 people and he just did "kill one" xD the stone is not a good artifact remember the one brother killed himself cause he could not bring anyone back but only have her ghosts it brought him to suicide xD its a horrible stone xD

Thomas88

Yes she was still writing the books when they started filming. (Book 4 was released, when movie 2 was in production. Thats why Lucius in Chamber of secrets, starts to spell the killing curse at the end. Jason Isacs (the actor) just finished that book, and it was the first spell that came into his mind. Also she was writing as the filming went on, she had the ending in her head right from the start and she knew how to get there. In fact there was only one other person who knew, how the series would end. ... Alan Rickman. She wrote Snape with Alan Rickman in mind and when it came to the castig and Rickman red the script he said something like "This character seems complicated what is his story. So Rowling told him how the story would end. Thats why his portrail is so brilliant, he could play on all what the charcter would become. Even after the movies ended, Rickman never told anyone what exactly she told him. There is also one nice Story from behind the scenes of the first movie. Director Columbus wanted Rickman to play Snape in a very "special" way. Rickman said "No, I cant do that" and Columbus was like "What did you say? Why not?" And Rickman said "Because i kow how the story ends, you dont. ..... Maybe i will tell you later" After that he was never again asked, to do it ina different way.

As much as you guys love d&D i wonder if you gonna watch "The Legend of Vox Machina"

Jain Thorne

While it's true that not all Slytherins are evil, in this case none of them stepped forward to oppose giving up Harry and they didn't have time to sort out the good from the bad. Sometimes lack of action condemns you as surely as action. Also, Harry broke and threw the Elder Wand away because it always attracted evil and even in a museum there would be wizards who sought it out.

JarHead0351

want to thank you two for allowing to rewatch the Harry Potter movie once again thru fresh eyes/1st timers - It made it so much nicer and fun again - can't wait to see what is next on your list

Chris Peacock

The Fantastic Beasts movies are a step down for sure, but they are still good. I honestly don't see why Harry Potter fans would hate them. (I know some do, but I think they are a vocal minority) They wouldn't win over none fans but why would none fans go into a Harry Potter prequel series anyway?

Jain Thorne

Now watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It's set decades before Harry Potter and you learn more about Dumbledore and the wizards in America in the 1930's. Two of the three movies in that series are out online now. The third one will be released in April.

David W Richards

I really really hate it when people who HAVE read the books spend hours in forums like this writing 1000 word comments explaining every single plot hole or inconsistency in the movies for people who HAVEN'T read the books. EVERY question you guys have asked about EVERY one of these movies would be explained if you'd just READ THE BOOKS like the rest of us did.

JokerDanny

The Fantastic Beasts movies which are prequels this series have a massive fan base so your comment about nobody liking them is incorrect, the vast majority of negativity surrounding the fantastic beasts series is because warner bros fired johnny depp from the series whilst at the same time continuing to employ his abuser amber heard in the aquaman movies. The fantastic beasts movies are great and I recommend them. Also every question you have about this series is all answered in the books, the movies could only stick to the basic important plot points.

Craig Brennan

I hope they do make Harry Potter and the Cursed Child into a movie for all that don't get a chance to see the Play and get them all to do there roles all these years later.

Nate Terry

maybe it would be fun to watch the Return to Hogwarts cast reunion found on HBO Max now that the series is over? To see the cast now after all these years...."always"

Dave van der Kuyp

Wether you watch them is up to you, no pressure. I just want to raise my hand and say "I am a big fan of the books, slightly-less-yet-still-big-fan of the movies. And I like the Fantastic beast series. Quite a bit in fact. Depending on how they grow and finish it, it could be another one of my favourites. I absolutely love the first Fantastic Beasts and at the moment I just like 2 a good bit, but if they manage to stick the landing with what they set up there, I'll probably love it too.

Judge Dreddpool

in regards to how harry survived, when one owns all three deathly hallows, it makes one the master of death. harry had both the invisibility cloak and the resurrection stone already, then at the end of the movie it was revealed that when harry disarmed malfoy he became the owner of the elder wand thus making him the master of death.

Darth Rhyme

That would sorta ruin the whole idea of a reaction channel don't you think? I don't come here to see someone who knows what's going to happen. It's not their fault the later half of these movies were made with the people who've read the books in mind.

Daniel Goldberg

My thoughts as well, more or less. Love is what ultimately turned Snape against Voldemort and started him working as a double agent for Dumbledore. The power of love is a theme throughout the entire series, even if it is somewhat subtle at times.

ambiture

i know youre probably gonna see this a million times, but pleeeaaaassseee read the books. any questions you have will be answered by the books. maybe you guys could do book club type videos where you both finish one and you discuss your favorite parts or something. also if you dont have time to read, i really recommend checking out the audiobooks. i listen to them while doing other things like cleaning and its genuinely shocking how much of the information i retain despite being distracted. plus the narrators for the audiobooks are brilliant. both jim dale and stephen fry do a fantastic job. i watched the movies before i read the books. after finishing the last movie, i HAD to have more. read all of the books a couple weeks later, and it was worth every single second.

Daniel Horsman

Thanks for doing this series I really loved it. I dunno if I am in the minority, but I love the Fantastic Beasts movies because there is so much more worldbuilding and cute magical creatures!.. Also pixie Barbarian sounds hilarious!

Joits

The resolution of the Elder Wand in the books is so much better... where it gets left in Dumbledore's grave and once Harry eventually dies, it answers to no one.

spam9009

I actually disagree. I think it is better to have it snapped so there will no longer be anymore bloodshed in the future over the wand...basically guarantees that it answers to no one if it is destroyed. Just wished the film kept the part where Harry repaired his own wand with the Elder Wand first though.

Aaron

That's partially correct. He uses it to fix his wand and then returns the elder wand to Dumbledore's tomb unharmed.

Oouga

You may have already been told, but JK Rowling had already written the ending of the series before she published the first books. Also, Alan Rickman (Snape) was the only actor told how the story ends. All other actors only knew what was in the already published books, but from movie one, Alan knew Snape's fate.

Oouga

Most of the fan base DO like the Fantastic Beasts movies. It's Warner Bros we're mad at. You will adore those movies, I think, and you have questions? This will answer some and give you more.

David RedEagle

Fantastic Beasts is very entertaining to a more general audience. Even my strict 64yr old christian father enjoyed those films and he looks forward to the next one. SO you should totally watch them. I'm sure you would be very entertained.

Jonathan Ly

Rocky mountain oyster, cheeky. Sadly, there was a lot that was left out during the hunt for the horcruxes. Like, a lot. Same thing about the Patronus's. There was a lot in the story about how they function and how it applied to Snape. Also, not sure how true this rumor was; At the time of the movies, the last book wasn't completed, but Rowling knew the ending. So she explained to Rickman his role and his story so it would influence his acting. supposedly no one else knew but him.
