I may be in the minority, but I don't think Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was that bad. I just think too much time had passed from the era where Indy movies were taken at face value and it came out at a time when it was cool to be a hipster and shit on earnest, genuine things, because everything was being consumed with a heavy dose of irony. Also part of the hatred was a transference of the way people felt about George Lucas and his Star Wars prequel saga. Folks just wanted to rip into any Lucasfilm production at that point. Does it have flaws? of course. Every Indy movie does. But it had a storyline worth telling and didn't deserve the loathing it received. It's an Indiana Jones film through and through. I recommend you watch it and don't buy into the popular opinion. Decide for yourself.

I never understood the hate. The biggest criticism was that it's over the top and unrealistic. Yeah? Just like every other Indiana Jones movie, you mean? It's the weakest of the franchise, sure, but it's a fun adventure movie and I suspect the people who didn't enjoy it were probably looking for reasons not to.

In response to a comment Simone made when they watched 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail', and to (pedantically?) clear up a misconception; the Grail is not a "Bible thing". The Catholic Church, as it began to absorb pagan influences, ignored the Bible's commands to avoid idolatry and wanted to display 'holy relics' of all kinds as 'charms'. They invented the significance of such things as 'The Shroud of Turin' (allegedly Jesus' burial shroud), 'The Holy Grail', the 'Spear of Longinus' (allegedly the spear that the Roman soldier used to pierce Jesus' side while he was on the stake), and 'The Crucifix' (The original language text of the Bible says Jesus was hung on a 'stauros' or upright pole. The Catholic Church created the Latin Vulgate translation of the Bible and changed it to 'crucifix' for trademark purposes). There are also claims of finding the nails used to impale Jesus, his Crown of Thorns, the whip used to scourge him, etc etc.

Concerning watching another Sean Connery movie, you could try 'Goldfinger', most people's favorite Connery Bond movie (although I feel they've aged too much). Then after that try 'The Rock'! He doesn't play Bond in 'The Rock'....(or does he??)

Have you seen The Mummy (1999)? Its a great action adventure movie and is similar to Indiana Jones. It stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.

raiders was one of our oldest videos at the start of the channel, but about 3 weeks ago YT took down over 2 dozen of our videos which included raiders and it doesnt look like we're getting them back.
