Just doing a rewatch…the reason the medical team sounds the way they do, a bit matter-of-fact and causal is that the actors were actually a real hospital trauma team.

pinkdino99

Paul Verhoevan was a Swedish director that only made small romantic comedies before this. Basic Instinct, Total Recall, Starship Troopers... yeah ! The stop motion was done by ILM's legend Phil Tippet whom was responsible for the AT-ATs and Tauntaun stop motion in Empire Strikes Back. Legend.

rictus grin

this was the first movie i ran as a projectionist, it was a bit odd as at 17 i wasn't old enough to buy a ticket to go and see it. but for some reason it was fine to be in the projection booth running it

Luetin

F YES. This is the content I signed up for lol

Eik104

Oh yeah!

Marko T.

Can't wait to watch this. One of my favorite movies.

Einherj

Could you include in your patreon posts the version you are watching? Publisher, format, streaming service or at least the length in minutes. There are so many cuts of these movies that sometimes it's hard to find the exact match. Also, I think Robocop is my favourite action movie ever.

Gaius Frakking Baltar

Starship Troopers is another Verhoeven sci-fi film that's definitely a must-watch. It didn't do well at the box office in 1997 because critics and audiences at the time didn't recognize that the movie was intended to be a savage satire of authoritarian militarism, but after being released on home video it gradually gained popularity and new found respect.

Michael_AP

George speaking of dreaming in Chinese/English makes me think of the "Bruce Lee translation scene" in Police Academy 2 :) So I wanna suggest the movies Police Academy 1 + 2 from 1984/1985. I think it's just your type of comedy. There are more but they get progressively worse. Don't remember from what movie it gets too bad to watch. (I'm in the Patreon Version to watch the extended intro/ outro LOL)

King_Panarisi

Usually the lenght of the reaction is pretty close to the version of a movie, if a movie is 50 minutes and their video is 55 minutes you can be sure you have the right copy. They talk a few minutes before beginning, those would be the 5 mins extra.

Eik104

Just for the scientific input, I think in english when I'm doing stuff related to the english language, but I dream in danish and when I stub my toe, I instinctively curse in french.

Luetin

Yeah great react to this movie lol George getting well into the details, and Simone's reaction to the Toxic Waste did not disappoint 😆 This movie is just amazing in so many ways I could write an entire essay on it, but love to see people appreciate all the details of every aspect of it.

MrCAL

Great reaction guys but lets just get this one out the way... ROBOT: 100% mechanical (Eg: Bender from Futurama) ANDROID: A Robot made to look like a human (Eg: The Terminator) CYBORG: An organic being with mechanical augmentations/replacements (Eg: Robocop)

Githerax

RE: Running out of ammo, Simone, it's like I done *told* you- it's the 80's, you *never run out*.

SavageDiplomat

Which version is this? Theatrical or directors cut?

Githerax

Also Simone: "Showgirls? Interesting." to quote Simone herself "Oh sweetie- nooo."

William

The "defund the Police" idiots should wtach this

Cinebinge

okay lets please not bring politics onto here. all this will do is cause arguments and make things miserable for everyone

David Crabtree

Starship Troopers from 1997 is a must watch!

JayF

Simone - There is no scenario where you could say that. Challenge accepted. George comes home to his three female dogs who have gotten into and scattered his trash in the kitchen.

Kripke's Corner

Starship Troopers for sure! This movie spawned many sequels and even animated shows (most of which are not as good as the original). Even some of the special effects in this movie are still great, even today! Must watch!

JayF

Just finished watching. A few actor notes for you - Peter Weller (Murphy) - Outside of this role he was most famously the lead in 'The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension'. Which I know sounds cheesy but I've always heard good things abut it. He was also on a very good episode of Fringe (which I hope you will consider reacting to some day) and voiced Bruce Wayne/Batman in the animated 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns' (2012). Another that I hope you will consider reacting to. Ronny Cox (bad guy that gets killed at the very end) - Most famously played Lt. Bogomil in the Beverly Hills Cop movies. He's been a in a lot of stuff so you'll see him pop up here and there in your reactions. Kurtwood Smith (Clarence) - Simone had this one and didn't know it. He was indeed a younger Red Foreman from 'That 70s Show'. Paul McCrane (bad guy that ends up in the toxic sludge) - Most famously played Dr. Romano on the TV series 'ER' for most of that show's run.

Prof. Writhms

Peter Weller in David Cronenberg's "Naked Lunch" (1991), for some mind-twisting science fiction! Oh yeah, like others have said, "Starship Troopers" is a must. 😁

Githerax

Paul McCrane was also in an episode of X-Files (first run in the 90's) that I remember to this day, would love to see 'What's Wrong, Daniel?' react to that show :D but it's got so many episodes, would be hard to do I bet.

Mike Adams

Starship Troopers.... Just in case you guys didn't get the hint from other comments. Starship Troopers.

Andrew

"Bitches leave"📢

Marko T.

It was so much fun to rewatch this with you guys. Great reaction. I'm glad you liked it. Paul Verhoeven is a great director. Starship Troopers (1997) is a good movie by him. Also I recommend Hollow Man (2000). Its scifi with horror elements. The story is about invisible man. Its not as well liked as his classics but I think its great.

E.P.B.F.

As has been mentioned Starship Troopers is Verhoeven's other Sci Fi movie, and yes, it is very much in the style you have noted. That said it is a bit of a problematic film. Starship Troopers is an adaptation of Robert Heinlein's classic science fiction novel of the same name. A very, very loose adaptation even by Hollywood's questionable standards further acerbated by the personal politics of the director. Verhoeven is _very_ leftist and hated the novel for what he mistook (imnho. Heinlein was a libertarian progressive) for championing conservative/rightist political ideas with the future society depicted in it. He also didn't want to do the movie in general. What he really wanted to make was a sequel/counterpart to his 1977 movie Soldier of Orange, but the studio wouldn't pay for that. They would however pay for an adaptation of Starship Troopers to which they had the film rights. So Verhoeven took the title, and Columbia's money, and made a satire of the Heinlein novel based off cliffnotes (he'd never bothered to actually read the story himself) and the themes of the Soldier of Orange sequel he couldn't sell. Yes, Starship Troopers is in essence a giant, petulant troll. Funny in parts, but a troll.

Logan Kerlee

Holy shit you guys, I love this movie. This was one of my first rated R movies that I watched as a kid. I did watch Terminator first.. so of course that's who I side with as to who'd win in a battle. I mean, if you really want to argue about it, the terminator machine was built for war and Robocop was built for urban pacification. Yes, it can fire weapons better than any man and can lift whatever - the terminator can do the same - but better, considering it was programmed with war scenarios in mind. The music in this movie was so damn cool, wasn't it?! It's not like a lot of it was known music or anything - the soundtrack was just so well used in this, that's why I love it so much. :) lmao, let's not and say we did with Showgirls. xD I'll pass on that one.

Richard B.

Seeing you guys enjoying movies I grew up with has become one of the highlights of my week. As others have pointed out Starship Troopers is one I would recommend as well, also if you have not seen it already seeing you guys react to Dredd (2012) would be awsome.

Marko T.

There actually is RoboCop Versus The Terminator game on Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. It was released in 1993.

overdev

there is a cool documentary about it from netflix, part of "the movies that made us" :)

David Martin

Primrose Lane (where Murphy lived) was a song from the late 50's.

Marko T.

RoboCop 2 was directed by Irvin Kershner. He directed Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back. I recommend watching it if you want to see more RoboCop. Its very divisive among the fans. Many like it and many don't.

Eik104

+1. Forgot About Dredd (pun intended). Such a good one!

Torstein Skurve

Hmm that scene where he nabbed the hostage taker was eerily similar to a scene from "The Dark Knight" comicbook that came out the year before🤔

Michael Lynch

Oh man I was 12 when this came out. I saw it in the theater and it had such an effect on me. I think this was the first movie that had been this violent. I remember the scene in the beginning when Ed 209 demolishes that guy in the office. That shocked everybody. I remember feeling fear for him when Ed 209 was counting down.

David Brown

Please watch RoboCop 2 (1990).

Githerax

Robocop 2 was a miserable bomb, even IMDB user reviews give it a 'meh'. Don't recommend bad movies for Cinebinge, they need good ones to attract viewers on youtube. George thinks he needs to guarantee they watch all the dreck that gets posted here and he doesn't realize he'll reduce his channel's views by putting stuff like this in the mix, just like it did with the sub-par Speed 2, Indiana Jones 2, Jurassic Park 2, and Back to the Future 2, all of which were acknowledged in the comments as poor sequels. Indiana Jones 3 did better than 2, which was predicted in the comments of people telling George it was a better movie than 2. Godfather 2 obviously a classic, Die Hard 2 was a moderate success. Rocky 2-3 are better-loved sequels, and performed moderately well on other reactor channels to prove the point. Also, reacting to the same movies that other reactors have done will help their SEO by recommending them after people watch the other channels, so if there's a question about what movies to recommend, check out the most popular ones on other channels and carry them over here.

Anthony Perez

I just saw this reaction and would pay to see George walk into a room and say the line "itches leave"...I might even pay a DOLLAR !

Karen Sandbach

PLEASE show the full screen movie and small squares of your faces. other patreon people do it, it doesn't cause any problems.

Cinebinge

Hi Karen, unfortunately leaving the full film/show visible would be a literal act of piracy and illegal distribution; while we may not agree with this law it is still a law that we have to abide by and cannot risk breaking. This includes Patreon itself which has a creator guideline rule of not breaking said copyright law.

SavageDiplomat

Robocop 2 is also a really good watch in my opinion.

Logan Kerlee

Eh... I'll always prefer the first over that. I'm not saying that they shouldn't watch it, but when/if they do, to not have the expectation of it being as cool as the original.

SavageDiplomat

I really enjoyed it when I saw it. I've watched it multiple times over the years. I don't see why it gets so much hate. The 3rd film is the only one I think is terrible.

Lucifer Moon

Robocop and Terminator actually exist in the same universe and there are comics that confirm this. Also there is a Robocop Vs Terminator Death Battle on Youtube.
