Okay so the previous big movie poll ended with DodgeBall and Castaway as the top 2 winners with the former already uploaded and the latter coming this Thursday; and since Godfather Part 2 and Big Lebowski came so close, it has been rolled into the schedule already as well and will be uploaded within 2 weeks.

And now we are back to the regularly scheduled weekly polling; as usual this poll will run for 7 days and the winner will be filmed next Monday the 21st and uploaded on Patreon that Thursday. Remember, you can vote for more than 1 film, and movies that do not win only means that it will be watched later.

Starship Troopers…Always Starship Troopers 😂

streaky

Think I know where this is going :)

Wally Hartshorn

Das Boot, with subtitles (not dubbed). An absolutely amazing film in a setting that is rare in movies.

Emmet Farrell

Das Boot is epic though I'd be surprised if it wins the poll

Luetin

but... HEAT :( buttt HEATTTT :(

Jon Tabb

Starship Troopers is one of my all-time favorites!

Travis Bounds

lets keep the verhoven train going

Jon Johns

I recently watched some... "Analysis" youtube video about StarShip troopers that made me watch it in a completely different light. (No spoilers in here) but suffice it to say, I watched it again and saw the entire movie fresh and new. I am eager to see Simone and George's take on it.

Torsten Maekler

If you ever watch "Das Boot"; there are two versions. A "short" one, which has the usual film length, and an extended one, which is like 4,5h long (usually comes in three parts). Whilst I prefer the long one (it really shows the feeling of the uboat), it might not be the best for your format due to it being really lengthy and regular viewers might find a bit too boring.

JayF

Whelp, I can't make myself watch Starship Troopers again. Obviously not a popular opinion here but the movie is just not good. It's a 5/10 action movie filled with poor writing and bad plot holes. Literally the only thing it has going for it is eye candy from some of the cast and the fight scenes. I'll wait for you to get to some of the other choices that aren't going to win this one. And yes fans, I got the ham-fisted message in it. I've just seen movies do it much more intelligently.

Mike Henderson

Starship Troopers just to hear George make funny inappropriate comments. 🤣

Marko T.

I voted Commando and Starship Troopers. Both are great action movies. Commando is one of my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movies.

E.P.B.F.

Since we seem to be on something of a dystopian SciFi tear may i suggest: 1) Bladerunner (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083658/?ref_=nm_flmg_wr_16), which of course is a must see Ridley Scott classic. 2) Salute of the Jugger aka Blood of Heroes (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094764/). A highly underrated two-fer: post-apocalyptic SciFi _and_ a sports movie. They also both have the same script writer David Webb Peoples (*) and star Rutger Hauer, who is always awesome (**). ________________________________________________________ * = who wrote a number of other great movies like 12 Monkeys and Unforgiven as well. ** = Jugger also has a very young (and slim!!) Vincent D'Onofrio in a supporting role.

Nick Sneddon

Heat should be winning this by an absolute mile

Gaius Frakking Baltar

Cool, Starship Troopers is winning. "I expect the best and I give the best. Here's the beer. Here's the entertainment. Now have fun. That's an order!"

Michael_AP

I bet George is so rooting for Mean Girls to win 🤣

Jenny Tolls

Ohh please do Sin City next!! That movie is so cool

Eik104

Sin City is so rarely reacted to and would make a great one imo. Can't go wrong with Starship Troopers though so no complaints :)

Sean Novack

If you ever read the novel, avoid Starship Troopers like the plague. It will make you shake with fury to see what Verhoeven did to it (how in the hell can you NOT include freaking POWER ARMOR in a sci-fi movie when it's such an integral part of the story???

Githerax

Time for a Simone movie here, let's see how George reacts. Mean Girls.

Jack Urmson

Very good selections here!

Florian

Starship Troopers is so Epic! Please put Sin City in another poll. Its a Bruce Willis and awsome esthetic

RogA

Starship Troopers since you have already experienced Verhoeven. But it is not what you think it is.

Wief Chiggum

I would live for you guys to get more animated stuff on these polls too

Daniel

Das Boot is such an amazing movie. I hope you'll eventually get to it as it's not performing well on this poll.

Toc

I'll take any of 'em.....except for the one that's winning! lol. "Das Boot" I had to vote for, it's too great not to, but all the other ones are all worthy in varying degrees. I tend to prefer it when both of you haven't seen the movie so that helps me whittle down my vote on this poll!

Michael Lynch

Unbelievable that starship troopers is winning over Heat. I'd give starship troopers a 6.5 or a 7 and I'd give Heat A 10.

Emmet Farrell

Heat is great but loses some of its shine when you watch L.A. Takedown :)

Happy Hanukkah

If/when you watch Sin City, I believe the consensus would be to watch the original theatrical version.

Thomas88

Cant believe Das Boot ranks so low, the 5.5hour version is masterpiece. One of the few perfect films.

Daryl 👽

Would you like to know more?

Jonny Lowther

I've been enjoying your RDR2 play alongs recently. Are you planning to continue with those? Or any other game? Cheers

Dor

Oh man, Das Boot struggling here makes me sad :(

MacGuffinStuff

Okay Troopers is a lock and I don't mind at all, but I'm conflicted because I think Heat is a way better movie than SinCity, BUT, I think they should wait to watch Heat till after Godfather 2, the rest of us had to wait like decades to see that match up lol

MacGuffinStuff

Now that I think about it, I actually really want to hear their reaction to Starship Troopers. I'm honestly not even sure what I think about this movie 😆 I've seen it, I don't remember liking it, but I'm curious why and if my opinion changes this viewing, that happens sometimes. Robocop is a fugn Sci-Fi masterpiece, we know that!

Githerax

Here's an idea, how about a Dune 1984/Dune 2021 double feature reaction?

Erik Lundmark

After watching RoboCop, you have 2 watch Starship Troopers, sometime. The 3rd and last in Paul Verhoeven's "Triple Dutch" trilogy.

Liquor & Swords

Torn between Starship Troopers and Das Boot, kinda. Das Boot is the better film IMO but ST is more fun. F*ck it, I may be throwing my vote away, but Das Boot all the way!

Githerax

ANOTHER suggestion; 'Somewhere in Time' (1980). Give Simone a treat. Has she had even one chick-flick yet?? An intensely syrupy romance that Simone will love and you will hate. You could even post it twice; once with Simone cooing over it, once on Cinecringe for your honest reaction, George.

Kevin Lloyd

Starship Troopers always reminded me of the game Starcraft.

Chris Jones

new to the patreon! love yalls reactions. Lets get a Tom Cruise movie poll going lotta gems untouched by other reaction channels

Kate Suhr

Will you be doing back to the future part 3 soon as well?

Kate Suhr

Also I recommend Stripes with Bill Murray and Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio.

SimianSupreme

Stripes is such a fantastic but less well known flick with a number of the cast from Ghostbusters. Bill Murry, Harold Ramis. And on top of that, John Candy!

Githerax

They're going to hate Stripes. It's slow-paced and slow-witted. It's only "fun", I'd guess, for someone who is high. Rewatch it sober and see if you'd still recommend it.

Logan Kerlee

It makes me so happy to see Starship Troopers in the lead. "The only good bug, is a dead bug."

Torsten Maekler

Do you have "Little Shop of Horrors" on your votelist yet?

nickOmatic141 .

Yall should do the movie Shooter. Great movie.

Marko T.

Other Arnold Schwarzenegger movie I recommend is True Lies (1994). Great action movie with a lot of humor. He made it with James Cameron just after Terminator 2. I'm not sure if its available in any streaming services in Canada. It hasn't been released on Blu-Ray for some reason even though its one of Arnold's classic movies.

Tyler Explains It All

You should put Hunger Games Catching Fire for next poll. It's the best one in my opinion.

Torsten Maekler

For future polls, here are some suggestions (with main actor/source): a) True Lies (Arnold Schwarzenegger) b) The Expanse (TV Series, 6 Seasons) c) Rain Man (Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise) d) Good Morning, Vietnam (Robin Williams) e) Top Gun (T. Cruise) f) Leon (Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, Natalie Portman) g) Interview with a Vampire (T. Cruise, Brad Pitt) h) JFK (Kevin Kostner) i ) Battlestar Galactica (TV Series, 2x90min Miniseries + 4 seasons) j) Edge of Tomorrow (T. Cruise) k) Jumanji (Robin Williams) l) Hook (R. Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Steven Spielberg) m) A few good Men (T. Cruise, Jack Nicholson) n) Dances with Wolfes (Kevin Kostner) o) Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves (K. Kostner, Morgan Freeman) p) Platoon (Charlie Sheen) q) Enemy Mine (Dennis Quaid) r) Innerspace (D. Quaid) s) The Running Man (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stephen King) t) The Bridge on the River Kwai (Alec Guinness,1957)

Liquor & Swords

Of the above, firstly, all good suggestions. My favourites are the Expanse!, Rain Man, Dances with Wolves, Running Man, Innerspace, Enemy Mine, Interview with the Vampire. George would love the expanse with his engineering mind (the most physics-realistic space combat put to film).

Torsten Maekler

Yes, he definitely would love that series. I also forgot a) Galaxy Quest (Sigourney Weaver) b) Firefly (Series, 1 Season)

Liquor & Swords

Jeez, this comment section is going to be a flood of movie requests, haha. Ok, these are my last entries and then I'll shut up for a while: Trainspotting, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Dazed and Confused, The Lost Boys, The Last of the Mohicans, Master and Commander-Far side of the world, The Crow, LadyHawke. Enjoy!

Torsten Maekler

Thought I was through with my list of interesting movies... then more and more popped into my mind. Here goes part 2: a) Bridge of Spies (Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg) b) Unbreakable (Bruce Willis, Samuel T. Jackson, M. Night Shyamalan) c) Crimson Tide (Denzel Washington) d) Signs (Mel Gibson, M. Night Shyamalan) e) Catch me if you can (Leo DiCaprio, Steven Spielberg) f) Aviator (Leo DiCaprio) g) Gangs of New York (Leo DiCaprio) h) The Great Gatsby (Leo DiCaprio) i) Road to Perdition (Tom Hanks) j) Yentl (Barbara Streisand) k) District 9 (2009) l) Arachnophobia (1990) - probably too much for Simone? m) The Horse Whisperer (Robert Redford) n) Oceans Eleven (too many to name one) o) The Rock (Shawn Connery, 1996) p) Serenity (this is the closing move of the TV Series "Firefly" - definitely only watch after the series) q) Beverly Hills Cop (Eddie Murphy, 1984) r) Airplane II - The Sequel s) Spy Game (Robert Redford) t) Little Shop of Horrors (Rick Moranis) u) Cloverfield (2008) v) Super 8 (Kype Chandler, J.J. Abrams) w) Pearl Harbor (Ben Affleck, Kate Beckinsale) x) Disney Lion King (1994) y) Pixar: Cars (2006) z) Hocus Pocus (Bette Middler) No more letters; last one: Critters (1986)

Chris Jones

Just needs to be a Tom Cruise poll.

TGrimace

I would like to suggest "Unbreakable". Bruce Willis. Samuel L Jackson. AMAZING movie, and the first in a trilogy that's worth every minute.

Craig D

I would recommend Stardust (2007) its a fantasy rom com starring Michele pfeifer, Clare danes, and Robert deniro. Contact (1997), a sci fi film written by the late great Carl Sagen. starring Jodie Foster and Mathew McConnahey. Also would like to mention I hope you can get s1 of avatar tla back.

Markus Miettinen

I'm new here. I had to join, finally, because Cinebinge is just so awesome :) . I'm glad its weekend, going to spend entirety of it watching. For this poll I voted for Heat, one of my favorite crime movies with the best shootout scene ever. For future polls I would suggest: - Office space, a cult classic comedy, at least for people working in IT - Kill Bill 1 & 2 - The Bourne identity - Top gun - The running man - Catch me if you can - Critters - Minority report

Eik104

Wanna suggest The Longest Yard (2005) if you want Sandler's version of Dodgeball. But also this comment is to say that I can't wait for FawltyTowers. It itches. Manuel!!

Michael H

We need to see Karate Kid, A League of their Own, and Raging Bull

PaulaC

Steel Magnolias

Kelly Pickard

Has "Hook" been voted on yet? It's such a iconic representation of early 90s blockbuster in terms of look and feel. And I don't mean to wave away reasonable criticisms of where that movie could've been better, but I think its strengths ultimately outweigh its shortcomings. It's fun, colorful, and has some classic moments.
